ABSTRACT

The breeding of domestic rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) for human consumption has a long tradition in China. Infections that can affect the production of meat or even be transmitted from animals to humans are important to monitor, especially for public health reasons as well as for their impact on animal health. Thus, a total of 1,132 domestic rabbit sera from 4 regions in China were collected for serological screening for Encephalitozoon cuniculi and for Toxoplasma gondii by ELISA and modified agglutination test (MAT), respectively. Antibodies to E. cuniculi were detected in 248/1,132 (21.9%) sera tested while antibodies against T. gondii revealed a seroprevalence of 51/1,132 (4.5%). We believe that the present results are of epidemiological implications and public health importance due to the acknowledged susceptibility of humans to E. cuniculi and T. gondii infections. Therefore, routine screening tests of domestic rabbits are proposed considering the zoonotic potential of these parasites.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo design and build the micro-stress sensor measurement system for invisible aligner technique.

METHODSA measurement system based on silicon-on-insulator piezoresistive stress sensor was developed. A four-point-bending based experimental apparatus was constructed to calibrate the piezoresistive coefficients of this stress sensor. A chemical-mechanical polishing process was developed for thinning the stress sensor dies. A packaging solution using flexible printed circuit to get signals out was designed.

RESULTSThe developed silicon stress sensor chip was 7.0 mm × 6.0 mm × 0.1 mm in size, and 13 sensor rosettes and 4 calibration rosettes were fabricated in one sensor. And a main testing PCB and a Lab View program were designed to carry out the automation measurement of the stress sensor. The stress state during the process was obtained through this test system. And measuered the stress of the 13 sensor unit.

CONCLUSIONSA stress measurement system was established for measuring stress during orthodontic treatment with invisable aligner.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo study the processing principles of different processed products of Aconitum pendulum.

METHODUsing high performance liquid chromatography and acute toxicity test to compare the changes in chemical composition and toxicity of the roots and processed products of A. pendulum.

RESULTThe main toxic components of the roots of A. pendulum were aconitine, deoxyaconitine and 3-acetylaconitine. The contents of these three alkaloids were significantly reduced in processed products, while benzoylaconitine significantly increased. In addition, processed products emerged aconine, polyschistine-D, beyzoyldeoxyaconine, 16-epi-pyroaconitine and 16-epi-pyrodeoxyaconitine. From the structural analysis, these new emerged compounds transformed from the aconitine, deoxyaconitine and 3-acetylaconitine.

CONCLUSIONDifferent processing methods can reduce the toxicity of the roots of A. pendulum. Processing principle is ester hydrolysis and high-temperature pyrolysis.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed at investigating the influence of the flow rate of simulated body fluid (SBF) (2 ml/100 ml.min) of body fluid in skeletal muscle upon the formation of bone-like apatite on porous calcium phosphate ceramics. The in vitro immersion experiment in SBF flowing at normal physiological rate is referred to as dynamic SBF. The results showed that bone-like apatite could only formed in the pores of porous calcium phosphate when SBF flow at physiological rate (2 ml/100 ml.min) of body fluid in skeletal muscle. At the same time, bone-like apatite could form both in the pores and on the surface of the samples if the flowing physiological solution is 1.5 SBF. When the flowing speed of SBF is higher than normal physiological speed (10 ml/100 ml.min), no bone-like apatite could be detected both on the surface and in the pores of the materials. This result is in concordance with animal experiments. The dynamic SBF simulates the biological environment of bone-like apatite formation in body better than static SBF (SBF does not flow). This method is very useful for the research of the mechanism of bonelike apatite formation, which is the key step of bone growth on biomaterials, and can be used as an effective approach to investigate mechanism of the osteoinduction of calcium phosphate in nonosseous tissues in vivo.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the diterpene alkaloids from the roots and processed products of Aconitum pendulum. Methods The chemical constituents were isolated and purified using silica gel column chromatography.Their structures were determined on the basis of NMR and mass spectra.ResultsTwelve compounds were isolated and identified as deoxyaconitine(1),3-acetylaconitine(2),aconitine(3),15?-OH-neoline(4),8-acetyl-15-hydroxyneoline(5),neoline(6),14-benzoyl-8-O-methylaconine(7),benzoylaconine(8),polyschistine D(9),benzoyldeoxyaconine(10),polyschistine A(11),and aconine(12).Conclusion Diterpene alkaloids are the main chemical constituents of A.pendulum and compounds 4—8 are found in this plant for the first time.Compared to raw materials, some boiled processed products change into new components:polyschistine D(9),benzoyldeoxyaconine(10),polyschistine A(11),and aconine(12).Identification of these components provides basis for the processing principles.
