ABSTRACT

A greater controversy remains in clinical diagnosis and treatment of Siewert type II adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction (AEG), compared with Siewert type I and III AEG. In 2018, the first edition of Chinese Expert Consensus on the Surgical Treatment for Adenocarcinoma of Esophagogastric Junction was published in the Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. In the past few years, the advance in minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery has been proven to reduce thoracic trauma in Siewert type II AEG. Meanwhile, distal thoracic esophagectomy can achieve more complete resection, and upper abdomen-right thoracic approach can ensure the mediastinal lymph node dissection and improve long-term survival. The concept and practice of endoscopic surgery and the comprehensive treatment also give new supplements to the treatment regimen of Siewert type II AEG. More clinical researches should be conducted to address the surgical residual safety and lymph node dissection issues.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effects of milrinone on LPS-induced inflammation and NF-κB activation of human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAEC).Methods:HCAEC were cultured in vitro, and were divided into normal group,LPS group (1 μg/ml),milrinone 50 μmol/L group and milrinone 200 μmol/L group, the rear two groups were co-incubated with LPS for 24 h. qRT-PCR and ELISA was applied to detect IL-6,IL-8,TNF-α mRNA and protein, respectively.Western blot and immunofluorescence assay was used to observe the activation and translocation of NF-κB,respectively.Results: Compared with LPS group, the IL-6,IL-8, TNF-α mRNA and protein;the activation and translocation of NF-κB significantly inhibited after incubation with milrinone (P<0.05) in a dose dependent manner. Conclusion:Milrinone inhibited the release of inflammative cytokines induced by LPS of HCAEC in vitro, partly by inactivation of NF-κB.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo study the role of neuroglobin (Ngb) in the pathologic process of contusion and laceration of brain in children.

METHODSThe proteins in the brain tissue were extracted by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis in 3 children undergoing brain ventricular neoplasms resection (normal brain tissue) and in 8 children with contusion and laceration of brain. The image analysis was done using the PDQuest 7.0 software. The differential protein spots were detected and analyzed with Applied Biosystems Voyager System 4307 MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometer and bioinformatical skills. Ngb expression in the brain tissue was measured using immunohistochemisty. Ngb expression in plasma was measured using ELISA in 15 children with contusion and laceration of brain and 10 healthy children.

RESULTSExpression maps of the brain tissue were established by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis in children with contusion and laceration of brain and healthy children. Six differential protein spots were found and 5 of them were identified by mass spectrum. Immunohistochemisty assay showed that Ngb expression in the brain tissue in children with contusion and laceration of brain was significantly higher than in normal controls (P<0.05). ELISA results showed that Ngb expression in the plasma increased significantly 6, 12, 18, 24 and 48 hours after trauma in children with contusion and laceration of brain compared with healthy children (P<0.01).

CONCLUSIONSNgb may play an important role in the pathologic process of contusion and laceration of brain in children.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the clinical significance of petrosal vein in operation of cerebel- lopontine angle(CPA)tumor. Methods From Dec.2004 to Mar.2006,33 patients with tumor in CPA were operated, the petrosal vein were protected well in 31 cases and failed to protect in 2 cases. Results No hemorrhagic infarction observed in 31 cases with well protection of petrosal vein. Two cases with petrosal vein damage occured with vein infarction and hemorrhagic edema. One was dead and the other was recovered well after decompression of posterior cranial fossa. Conclusion Petrosal vein should be well protected in the tumor operation of CPA area, the decompression of posterior cranial fossa should be considered if petrosal vein failed to protect.
