ABSTRACT

Erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) is a rare inherited metabolic disease that often involves skin, blood, and nervous systems, and EPP with the main manifestations of severe liver damage and acute abdominal pain is extremely rare. By reviewing the clinical data and genetic testing results of a patient with EPP, this article discusses the clinical features and pathogenic genes of this disease, in order to improve the understanding of the disease among hepatologists and achieve early diagnosis and treatment.

ABSTRACT

Fournier gangrene is a relatively rare clinical critical disease, and its clinical symptoms are not specific and easily unrecognized by some clinicians. It has the features of acute onset, quick development, severe illness, and often accompanied by infection shock which is seriously life-threatening. It is difficult in treatment with high medical costs and long length of hospitalization, which increases pain for patients and relatives and brings heavy economic and psychological burden on patients, society, and medical workers. By reviewing the literature home and abroad and combined with clinical practice, I summarize the researches on concept, epidemiology, clinical manifestation, diagnosis and treatment of Fournier gangrene, in order to provide reference for vast number of clinical workers.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of epidermal growth factor (EGF) on the proliferation , migration and apoptosis of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) in vitro. Methods Starved cell model and FasL-induced apoptosis model were established in serum-free media. The effects of 10 nmol/L and 100 nmol/L of EGF on the proliferation, migration and apoptosis of ADSCs in vitro were observed. The exrpessions of signal pathway proteins like phospholipaseC-γ(PLC-γ) , extracellular regulated kinase (ERK) and AKT were also detected. Results The proliferation, migration and anti-ap-optosis of ADSCs were promoted by 10 nmol/L or 100 nmol/L of EGF, and the expressions of PLC-'y, ERK and AKT were up-regulated. Conclusion EGF can promote the proliferation, migration and an-ti-apoptosis of adipose-derived ADSCs in vitro.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo observe prophylactic effect and reliability of warfarin n preventing recurrant ischemic stroke.Methods168 patients identified as ischemic stroke admitted in Chaozhou Central Hospital from March 2001 to May 2004 were randomly divided into 2 groups, warfarin group and ticlopidine group (set as control).82 cases were in warfarin group, receiving warfarin 0.75~2.25mg/d orally.Prothrombin and international normalized radio (INR) were monitored, and INR was 1.5~2.0.86 cases were in ticlopidine group;they received 250mg/d ticlopidine orally. All patients were followed up every monty for 3 years, and recurrent ischemic stroke and drug side-effect were documented.ResultsThere were 8 cases (9.76%) of recurrence in warfarin group and 26 cases (30.02%) of recurrence in ticlopidine group. There was statistically significant difference between the two groups (P
