ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Sarcopenia is the muscle loss in the elderly with aging, and it is closely related to the degradation of muscle function in the elderly. The research on the mechanism of sarcopenia as wel as effect of movement intervention is developed. OBJECTIVE:To summary the mechanisms of sarcopenia cel level as wel as the effect of movement intervention. METHODS:A computer-based retrieval was conducted on CNKI database and PubMed database for literatures on sarcopenia and elderly resistance training from January 2000 to December 2012. The key words were “sarcopenia, muscle, resistance training, aging, protein metabolism”. The literatures on sarcopenia, protein metabolism and resistance training were included, and the obsolete and repetitive literatures and the literatures lack of credibility were excluded. Final y, 58 literatures were included for analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Resistance training can inhibit sarcopenia to a certain extent, so that to increase muscle mass in the elderly and promote the recombinant of motor units. But the recombinant is limited to the mutual conversion between the type Ⅱa and Ⅱb fibers. Resistance training combined with protein supplement can effectively promote elderly muscle reconstruction;the elderly muscle anabolic response confrontation reaction after resistance training is slower than young people, but the inflammatory response after training is stronger than younger people. However, Omega-3 has a good effect on the elimination of such inflammatory response.

ABSTRACT

Objective To examine the expression of thyroid hormone receptor isoforms (TR α1, α2, β1, and β2) in human osteoblast-like cell line MG-63 at the mRNA level and the effect of thyroid hormone (T3 or T4 ) on the expression. Methods Realtime quantitative PCR was performed. Results The expression of TRα1 mRNA was the highest, that was 10. 70± 0.45, TRβ1 was 5.75 ± 0. 10, TRβ2 was 3.34 ± 0. 08, and TRα2 was very low, only (3.66 ±0. 59) × 10-2. Only the expression of TRαl and TRα2 mRNA was down regulated significantly by the treatment of 10-10 ~ 10-6 mol/L T3, and there was a negative correlation between the expression of TRα1 or TRα2 mRNA and the concentration of T3. Conclusion TRα1 plays a primary role in mediating the effects of thyroid hormones in skeletal development.

ABSTRACT

To establish a method for radioligand binding assay of thyroid hormone receptors(TR)in human osteoblast-like osteosarcoma cell line MG-63 and to estimate the kinetic parameters of putative receptors. The MG-63cell was cultured in Ham's F12, the soluble TR was prepared from the intact nuclear extracts. The binding properties between TR and T3 were performed by using the traditional Scatchard analysis. The apparent Ka of TR in MG-63 is 7.68× 109 L/mol, and MBC(111. 25+ 10.77)fmol/mg protein. The study indicated that MG-63 cells possessed high affinity and limited-capacity of TR in its nuclear extracts. This may serve as the starting and basic work about TR in bone cell.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To develop a new identification and analyfical method for Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum . METHODS: Powder X ray diffraction Fourier fingerprint pattern was adopted. RESULTS: The reference X ray diffraction Fourier fingerprint pattern and characteristic diffraction peaks of Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum were obtained by three samples of Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum and one sample of Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum . CONCLUSION: This method can be used for identification of Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum .

ABSTRACT

Objective: To develop a new identification and analysis method of crude drug Pheretima . Method: Powders of pheretima were identified by means of X ray differacion Fourier pattern. Results: Experiments and analysis were carried out on five samples of pheretima. The standard X ray diffraction Fourier pattern and characteristic diffraction peaks of Pheretima were obtained. Conclusion: This method can be used for identification on crude drug Pheretima .
