Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is an incretin hormone that is currently used clinically to control blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Recent studies have found that GLP-1 and its receptors are expressed in the human retina.Now GLP-1 and its analogues for the prevention and treatment of diabetic retinopathy has become a research focus,so this article will give a brief review on the recent advances in GLP-1 and its analogues for the treatment of DR.
