ABSTRACT
SUMMARY A historical perspective of the creation and installation of the National Research Institute of the Amazon (INPA) showing the scientific and administrative activities perfomed by Is twelve directors during the period 1954-1981. The great development made by INPA In Its 27 years of existence, under the guidance of National Research Council of Brazil (CNPq) is described.
Resumo Retrata a criação, instalação e evolução histórica do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia INPA. mostrando as atividades cientificas e administrativas dos seus 12 Diretores que vão de 1954 a 1981. Descreve o grande desenvolvimento atingido pelo INPA nos seus 27 anos de existência, sob a direção do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq).
