ABSTRACT

Immunoglobulin Y (IgY) is an effective orally administered antibody used to protect against various intestinal pathogens, but which cannot tolerate the acidic gastric environment. In this study, IgY was microencapsulated by alginate (ALG) and coated with chitooligosaccharide (COS). A response surface methodology was used to optimize the formulation, and a simulated gastrointestinal (GI) digestion (SGID) system to evaluate the controlled release of microencapsulated IgY. The microcapsule formulation was optimized as an ALG concentration of 1.56% (15.6 g/L), COS level of 0.61% (6.1 g/L), and IgY/ALG ratio of 62.44% (mass ratio). The microcapsules prepared following this formulation had an encapsulation efficiency of 65.19%, a loading capacity of 33.75%, and an average particle size of 588.75 μm. Under this optimum formulation, the coating of COS provided a less porous and more continuous microstructure by filling the cracks on the surface, and thus the GI release rate of encapsulated IgY was significantly reduced. The release of encapsulated IgY during simulated gastric and intestinal digestion well fitted the zero-order and first-order kinetics functions, respectively. The microcapsule also allowed the IgY to retain 84.37% immune-activity after 4 h simulated GI digestion, significantly higher than that for unprotected IgY (5.33%). This approach could provide an efficient way to preserve IgY and improve its performance in the GI tract.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the onset features and axiom of children disease in Duanguan region. Methods A statistic study was carried on 1 782 cases of children disease which confirmed by pathological examinations. The sex,age and pathology(congenital malformation, inflammatory disease,tumor-like lesions, benign tumors, malignant tumors)were registered. Results The inflammatory disease occupied the first place in incidence rate(44.61%),followed by tumor-like lesions(25.03%),benign tumors(23.34%),congenital malformation(5.22%)and malignant tumors(1.80%).Among inflammatory disease, appendicitis was the most common, the next was chronic tonsillitis and tuberculosis.Among tumor-like lesions, cystic disease was the most common;the next was polyps.Among benign tumors, vasculoma was the most common, the next was pilomatricoma, osteoid and chonodroid tumors.Among congenital malformation, ear fistula was the most common, the next was diverticulosis and intestineal duplicateion.Among the malignant tumors, the sarcoma of soft tissue was the most common, the next was the malignant peripheral nerve tumors and lymphoma. Conclusion Children's disease have its own characteristics which varied in age,sex and pathological types, and differ from those of adults.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the feature of MRI in ureter transitional cell carcinoma,to evaluate the diagnostic value in transitional cell carcinoma of ureter with MRI.Methods Heavily T_2-weighted fast spin echo pulse sequence, fat suppression pulse and MR urography(MRU)were performed. The MRI finding of the ureter transitional cell carcinoma were anlysed in 32 cases and were discssed with the review of literature. Results Fifteen lesions were located at the upper portionof the ureter,7 at mid portion and 10 at lower portion. Each case presented urinary obstruction, distention and uretal hydrocele.21 retrograde urleropyelogrhpy of nodular shaperal irregular,11 irregular the ureteral wall,10 dilate the ureter in 21 cases,11 infitrative lesion to grow in location,9 lymphanode to enlarge in surrounding of major arterial of abdominal and renal out in 11 cases.17—72 mm length the lesion,39 mm average,6—50 mm width the leion,17 mm average.Hypointense on T_1 WI and hyperintense on T_2 WI image in 23 cases, hyperintense on both T_1 WI and T_2 WI image in 5 cases, hypointense on T_1 WI and isointense on T_2 WI image in 2 case, slightly hypointense on both T_1 WI and T_2 WI images in 2 case.Ninteen homogeneous and 13 non homogeneous of signal in lesion,22 reliable and 5 suspicious diagnosis and 5 misdiagnosis in MRI. Conclusion The location, the shape, the spectrum of the tumor and change of surrounding tiessue were clear cuted in MRI,but further research in confirmation of the diagnosis.
