ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the distribution characteristics of body fat content and basal metabolic rate among Xibo adults in Xinjiang and to explore the correlation between them. Methods The people aged between 35 and 70 were randomly selected to be the research object, and a total of 536 people (263 males and 273 females) were selected for the study. Subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, weight, stature, defat weight, body fat rate and basal metabolic rate were measured using the body composition analyzer. The correlation between body fat content and basal metabolic rate was studied by regression analysis, and regression equation coefficient was calculated. Results There were statistically significant in total fat, defate body weight and body fat percentage (P<0. 05) of different aged Xibo adults in Xinjiang, except for male visceral fat and female subcutaneous fat. There were statistically significant subcutaneous fat, total fat and body fat percentage(P<0. 05) between the sexes, except for visceral fat. The visceral fat content among Xibo adults in Xinjiang was negatively correlated with basal metabolic rate (P<0. 05). Conclusion Body lipid distribution is differences in different aged and gender among Xibo adults in Xinjiang. There is a negative correlation between visceral fat and basal metabolic rate.

ABSTRACT

· AIM:To compared the therapeutic effect of improved macular hole surgery to traditional macular hole surgery for idiopathic macular hole (IMH).· METHODS:From April 2014 to June 2017,28 eyes of 28 IMH patients who were treated in our hospital were selected consecutively and received surgical treatment independently performed by the same physician in our hospital. The patients were divided into A (traditional group) and B (improvement group) groups. All 13 cases in Group A were treated with traditional vitrectomy internal limiting membrane peeling and C3 F8 tamponade, while all 15 cases in Group B were treated with improved indocyanine green-assisted internal limiting membrane peeling combined with macular hole reconstruction and air tamponade. All patients were reviewed at 1wk,1,3,and 6mo after surgery. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) before and after the operation, operation time, closure rate of the macular hole during the last review and prone time were compared between the two groups of patients.· RESULTS:There was no significant difference in closure rate between the two groups (P> 0.05).Postoperative BCVA increased in both groups compared with preoperatively and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05).But there was no significant difference on BCVA between the two groups both preoperatively and postoperatively (P > 0.05).The operation time in Group B was significantly shorter than that in Group A (P<0.05).Prone time in Group B was significantly shorter than that in Group A,the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).· CONCLUSION:This study shows that compared with the traditional group, the improved indocyanine green-assisted peeling of internal limiting membrane combined with macular hole reconstruction and air tamponade can achieve similarly high closure rates while the operation procedure was simplified and the operation time was shortened.Reduced number of instruments into and out of the incision can reduce the incidence of complications. The postoperative patient's prone time is significantly shortened, with high comfort and good compliance.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of semaphorin 4D(Sema4D) on the proliferation, migration and angiogenic of human pancreatic carcinoma cells. Methods Sema4D-siRNA was designed and synthesized and transfected into human pancreatic carcinoma cells. After 48 hours of transient infection, the changes of expression of Sema4D mRNA before and after transfection were detected by reverse transcription-polymeruse chain reaction method. And after 72 hours of transient infection, the changes of expression of Sema4D protein before and after transfection were detected by Western blot method. The changes of growth of the transfected cells were observed by methyl thiazolyl terazolium assay.Using transwell migration test and scratch repair test to detect the changes of migration ability of human pancreatic carcinoma cells after transfection.Using tubule formation assay to observe the effect of supernatant of pancreatic carcinoma cell cultures on angiogenesis after transfection. Results Compared with the negative control group and blank control group, the expression of Sema4D mRNA and Sema4D protein and the growth rate of pancreatic carcinoma cells decreased significantly (P < 0.05).In transwell migration test and scratch repair test,it was observed that Pancreatic cancer cells penetrating cell number and scratch repair rate were significantly lower than that in negative control group and blank control group (P < 0.05).Tubule formation assay showed that there were significant differences in angiogenesis numbers among siRNA transfection group(0.5 ± 0.02),negative control group(1.45 ± 0.60) and blank control group (1.37 ± 0.52) (P < 0.05).Conclusion Sema4D-siRNA can induce RNA interference in pancreatic carcinoma cells and down-regulate the expression of Sema4D gene, which can inhibit the proliferation of pancreatic carcinoma cells, significantly reduce the migration ability of pancreatic carcinoma ceils and inhibit angiogenesis.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo evaluate clinical therapeutic effect and the safety of pricking blood therapy combined with ultraviolet irradiation for treatment of acute herpes zoster.

METHODSOne hundred and thirty cases were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 65 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with pricking blood therapy combined with ultraviolet irradiation. Firstly, the affected parts were heavily taped with a plum-blossom needle and then cupping. After the cup was removed, with the body surface-dividing field method, ultraviolet irradiation was given at the skin injury area and the nerve root area corresponding to paraspinal vertebra, and the control group was treated with Aciclovir and other western medicine. Seven days constituted one course. Their therapeutic effects and adverse reactions were observed.

RESULTSAfter treatment of 7 days, the cured rate of 76.9% and the total effective rate of 90.8% in the observation group were significantly higher than 38.5% and 66.2% in the control group, respectively (both P < 0.01); the incidence rate of post herpetic neuralgia of 3.1% in the observation group was significantly lower than 12.3% in the control group (P < 0.05); after treatment, the scores for pain, rash and sleep decreased significantly in the two groups (all P < 0.01), more significantly decreased in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05); the pain-relieving time, herpes-stopping time, scab-forming time and the cured time in the cured patients of the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe pricking blood therapy combined with ultraviolet irradiation has rapid therapeutic effect, effectively shortens duration of illness, decreases the incidence rate of post herpetic neuralgia and it is a safe remedy for treatment of herpes zoster.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo compare therapeutic effects of acupuncture combined with He-Ne laser radiation and western medicine on facial paralysis.

METHODSNinety-seven cases were randomly divided into an acupuncture with laser group (n=55) and a medication group (n=42). The acupuncture with laser group were treated by acupuncture at main points, Dicang (ST 4), Jiache (ST 6), Sibai (ST 2), Qianzheng, Xiaguan (ST 7), Yingxiang (LI 20), Yangbai (GB 14), Yuyao (EX-HN 4), Yifeng (TE 17), Hegu (LI 4), in combination with He-Ne laser radiation; the medication group were treated with routine western medicine including intravenous dripping of low molecular dextran, compound Danshen and ATP injections, intramuscular injection of VitB1 and VitB12 , and oral administration of oryzanol and prednisone. Seven days constituted one course. After two courses their therapeutic effects were observed.

RESULTSThe cured rate was 81.8% in the acupuncture with laser group and 45.20% in the medication group with a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.01).

CONCLUSIONThe therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with He-Ne laser radiation on facial paralysis is better than that of routine medication.
