ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To search for a simple and effective surgical procedure for the treatment of the buried penis in children.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>We designed a new surgical procedure for the treatment of the buried penis, making a "V" incision in the venter of the radix penis, solving the superficial and deep fascia and the abnormal attachment of the dartos muscle, and fixing the left and right side of the radix penis respectively to 1 and 11 o'clock points in the fascia of the pubis nodus in the knee-chest position. A total of 38 children with the buried penis underwent the newly designed procedure and were followed up for 2-6 months.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>All the patients were discharged with desirable cosmetic appearance of the penis and completely revealed penile shafts. Follow-up showed satisfactory penile shape in 35 cases (92.11%), slightly buried penis in 2 and cicatricial constriction of the ostium praeputiale in 1.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The newly designed surgical procedure of solution and fixation of the penile venter is simple and effective for the treatment of the buried penis in children and well worthy to be introduced into clinical practice.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of sacrococcygeal teratoma in children, and explore the diagnostic value of MRI and the critical suggestion for treatment. Methods The MRI features, clinical features, pathological data and operation complication of sacrococcygeal teratoma in 26 children were retrospectively analyzed. Phenotype teratoma in 9 cases grew from apex of coccyx to fundament. They presented spherical or ellipsoidal, distinct boundary and septatus in cystic MRI.All pathological data presented benign tumors.Mixed teratoma in 16 cases growed from fundament to cavitas pelvis. They presented dumbbell, distinct boundary, mixed signal of cystiform and solid density in MRI.There were 12 cases in benign tumors and 4 cases in malignant in pathology, the invisible teratoma in 1 case which lay between rectum and sacrum, extended to cavitas pelvis. Its boundary was not intact and segmented, and the pathological data presented malignant tumors. Results All of the 26 cases were completely excised only once and 21 of them received sacrococcygeal incision,5 cases had abdominosacral combined incision.Twenty-two cases were followed up (benign 20 cases, malignant 2 cases),and 2 cases of them died. 8 cases had complications,of the 8 cases,2 cases with necrosis of flap,1 case with chronic sinus tract and 2 cases with recidivism occurrd. Conclusions MRI may detect discovering the location and appearance of sacrococcygeal teratoma in children in diagnosis and in differential diagnosis of tumor nature. It is a very significant to reconstruct cavities pelvis and eradicase focal dead space in prevention and treatment of post-operation complication in childrens sacrococcygeal teratoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the protective effect of redix astragail on intestinal mucosa barrier in infant rabbits with intestinal ischemiareperfusion. Methods Twenty male infant rabbits were divided into 4 groups randomly:sham control group, intestinal ischemia reperfusion(IIR) group(model group),redix astragail group, control group.Redix astragail group and control group intraperitonerlly injected redix astragail 6 mg/(kg?d)or sodium chloride preoperative.Intestinal mucosa and blood plasma superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity, intestinal mucosa tissue degree of injury were observed in infant rabbits with IIR.Meanwhile, the effect of redix astragail on them was studied. Results After IIR,SOD activity in intestinal mucosa and blood plasma obviously decreased, and intestinal mucosa tissue morphous and intestinal mucosa barrier lesion were progressively aggravated.Redix astragail might increase blood plasma and intestinal tissue SDD activity significantly. Conclusion Redix astragail plays an important role in protecting intestinal mucosa barrier in infant rabbits with IIR.

ABSTRACT

Objective To appraise the bowel control and quality of life after transanal improvement of Soave one-stage pull-through operation for Hirschsprung′s disease(HD) in infants. Methods Twenty-five patients(aged from 2 months to 3 years old) with HD underwent improved endorectal pull-through procedure and postoperative follow-up for 5 months to 6 years(average 4.5 years) including the occurrence of operation related complications sush as bowel control, constipation or postoperative enterocolitis and quality of life. Results Twenty-one patients completed the study were with a mean follow-up.The assessment of anal continence was graded as normal(4 scores),good(3 scores),and fair(2 scores) according to the previous study of other investigators.Of the 21 patients,16 were graded as normal, whereas 4 were as good and 1 fair. One patient developed constipation and 2 patients had postoperative enterocolitis. Conclusion Modified Soave procedure for Hirschsprang′s disease can get a good bowel control outcome and quality of life.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the pathological basis and clinical characteristics of children with congenital choledochal cyst(CCC) combined with liver damage. Methods According to the age,38 patients with CCC were divided into 2 groups:group A had 24 cases(ranged 6 months to 3 years old);group B had 14 cases(ranged 4 to 14 years old).A comparative analysis of them was conducted retrospectively in the clinical characteristics, hepatic pathological changes, perioperatively liver function and operation. Results Group A was obvious higher than group B in jaundice, white bole stool and abdominal mass, but group B was more in stomachache.Group A was obvious higher than group B in liver function lesion, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin increase and blood coagulation disfunction(Pa

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of 8 children with primary ileum cecum malignant lymphoma. Methods Retrospective analysis on the clinical and pathology materials of 8 children with primary ileum cecum malignant lymphoma was performed. Results Primary ileum cecum malignant lymphom′s clinical experience had no characteristic, and radical operation was main treatment method.Chemothereapy got well to some extents.Pathology and immunity tissue chemical were B cell malignant lymphoma. Conclusions Child primary ileum cecum malignant lymphoma lack specific manifestations, and histopathology is main diagnosis methods. They have good response to binding treatment of early operation and chemothereapy.
