ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the expression of H3.3 G34W mutant-specific antibody in giant cell tumors of bone (GCTB), and its value in the diagnosis of GCTB.@*Methods@#Immunohistochemical (IHC) EnVision method was used to detect the expression of H3.3 G34W mutant-specific antibody and p63 in 83 GCTBs, 18 aneurysmal bone cysts, 23 chondroblastomas and 28 osteosarcomas diagnosed at Nanjing Jinling Hospital from June 2001 to April 2019.@*Results@#Among the 83 cases of GCTB, 69 cases (69/83, 83.1%) expressed H3.3 G34W. H3.3 G34W expression was found exclusively in the mononuclear cell population with strong and diffuse nuclear staining. H3.3 G34W was expressed in 55 of 57 (96.5%) cases of GCTB in long bones, but only 14 of 26 (53.8%) cases of non-long bone GCTB. All recurrent (9/9)/metastatic GCTB (2/2), post-denosumab GCTB (3/3), primary malignant GCTB (3/3) and secondary malignant GCTB (5/5) also expressed H3.3 G34W. H3.3 G34W was negative in all aneurysmal bone cysts and chondroblastomas. H3.3 G34W was positive in 3 of 28(10.7%) cases of osteosarcomas, and giant cell-rich osteosarcoma(GCRO) was the only histological subtype of osteosarcoma that expressed H3.3 G34W. p63 was expressed in 71.1%(59/83) of GCTB, while the positive rates of p63 in aneurysmal bone cysts,chondroblastomas and osteosarcomas were 3/18, 43.5% (10/23) and 21.4% (6/28) respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of H3.3 G34W mutant-specific antibody in the diagnosis of GCTB were 83.1% and 95.7%.@*Conclusions@#H3.3 G34W mutant-specific antibody is a highly sensitive and specific marker for GCTB and helpful for the diagnosis of GCTB and its variants. The limitation of this antibody is that as a mall number of GCTB harbor G34 mutation other than G34W, and thus that cannot be detected. The incidental expression of H3.3 G34W mutant protein in osteosarcoma could be a potential diagnostic dilemma, and the results of H3.3 G34W IHC staining needs careful interpretation.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To study the clinicopathological features, immunohistochemical phenotype, molecular changes, differential diagnosis and prognosis of eosinophilic solid and cystic renal cell carcinoma (ESC RCC).@*Methods@#A total of 15 cases were selected from 2005 to 2019 at Nanjing Jinling Hospital,Nanjing University School of Medicine for clinicopathological and immunohistochemical analysis, 10 of which were subject to cancer-associated mutation analysis using targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) panel. A literature review was also performed.@*Results@#The patients′ ages ranged from 15 to 68 years (mean, 33 years). The male-to-female ratio was 1.1∶1.0. During a mean follow-up of 22 months, none of the patients developed tumor recurrence, progression or metastasis. Histologically, the tumors typically demonstrated solid and cystic architectures and the neoplastic cells contained voluminous eosinophilic cytoplasm with prominent granular cytoplasmic stippling. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells in all cases were immunoreactive for CK20. Signal pathway related protein mTOR and S6 were positive in 14/15 and 6/15 cases, respectively. Cathepsin K, Melan A and HMB45 were at least focally positive in 12/15, 6/15 and 2/15 cases, respectively. CK7 and CD10 showed focal immunostain positivity in some cases, while TFE3, TFEB, CA9 and CD117 were negative in all cases. NGS demonstrated TSC1/TSC2 mutations in all tested cases (10/10).@*Conclusions@#ESC RCC is a rare tumor that tends to occur in young patients with an indolent behavior. Diagnosis can be established by its distinct clinical and histopathologic findings, immunohistochemical phenotype and molecular genetics. The tumor may be considered as a new subtype of RCC.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To study the molecular features of metanephric adenoma (MA) and discuss their values in differential diagnosis.@*Methods@#BRAF V600E immunohistochemistry (IHC) using the mutation-specific VE1 monoclonal antibody and Sanger sequencing of BRAF mutations were performed on 21 MAs, 16 epithelial-predominant Wilms tumors (e-WT) and 20 the solid variant of papillary renal cell carcinomas (s-PRCC) respectively. p16 protein was detected by IHC also. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analyses using centromeric probes for chromosome 7 and 17 were performed on the three renal tumors in parallel.@*Results@#Fourteen (14/21, 66.7%) of 21 MA cases demonstrated diffuse, moderate to strong cytoplasmic BRAF V600E IHC staining and the BRAF V600E protein expression was detected in 2 (2/16) of 16 e-WT cases for the first time, whereas all s-PRCCs were negative (P<0.05). All cases (including 14 MAs and 2 e-WTs) with diffuse, moderate to strong cytoplasmic BRAF V600E IHC staining were confirmed to harbor BRAF V600E missense mutations using Sanger sequencing, and no BRAF mutations were detected in cases with negative BRAF V600E protein expression. One case (1/21, 4.8%) showed trisomy of chromosome 7 alone, and another one (1/21, 4.8%) showed trisomy of chromosome 17 alone in 21 MAs. Two cases (2/16) of 16 e-WTs showed trisomy of chromosome 17 alone. In 20 s-PRCCs, trisomy of chromosomes 7 alone was reported in 2 cases (2/20), trisomy of chromosome 17 alone in 3 cases (3/20) and trisomy of chromosome 7 and 17 in 14 cases (14/20). The total positive rates of trisomy of chromosome 7 and/or 17 in MAs, e-WTs and s-PRCCs were 9.6% (2/21), 2/16 and 95.0% (19/20). p16 protein was positive in 81.0% (17/21) MAs, whereas the positive rates in e-WTs and s-PRCCs were 2/16 and 5.0% (1/20).@*Conclusions@#Most MAs harbor BRAF V600E mutations, and MAs lack the gains of chromosome 7 and 17 that are characteristic of papillary renal cell carcinoma. These molecular features can be used to distinguish MA from its mimics. BRAF V600E IHC using the mutation-specific VE1 monoclonal antibody provides an effective method in BRAF V600E mutations detection of renal tumors. p16 is overexpressed in MA, and the finding suggests that the low proliferative rate of the tumor might be attributed to BRAF V600E-induced senescence mediated by p16.

Objective@#To study the clinicopathologic characteristics and diagnostic criteria of primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBL), and to distinguish PMBL from classic Hodgkin lymphoma(CHL) and systemic diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL).@*Methods@#The clinical features, histologic findings, results of immunohistochemical study and prgnosis in 27 PMBL cases were analyzed, with review of literature.@*Results@#The age of patients ranged from 19 to 82 years (median age 34 years). All cases were located in the mediastinum and frequently accompanied by superior vein cava syndrome. Histologically, the tumor cells were pleomorphic and diffusely distributed. Clear cytoplasm and spindle tumor cells were seen in some cases. Varying amount of sclerosing stroma with collagen deposition was seen.Immunohistochemical study showed that the tumor cells were positive for CD20(100%, 27/27), CD30 (64.0%, 16/25), CD23 (77.3%, 17/22) and p63 (16/19). Clonal B cell gene rearrangement was seen.@*Conclusions@#PMBL is a subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with various histomorphology. Immunohistochemistry can help to confirm the diagnosis, and the prognosis is better than diffuse large B cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the clinicopathologic characteristics of primary renal hemangioblastoma.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The morphologic features, immunophenotype and molecular findings of 3 cases of primary renal hemangioblastoma were studied, with review of literature.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The age of patients ranged from 43 to 57 years. There were 2 women and a man. The patients often presented with renal mass. Histologically, the tumors were surrounded by thick fibrous capsule and composed of epithelioid or spindle cells. Two cases had a prominent stromal component and the other one was rich in capillary network. Lipid vacuoles were observed in all cases. Features of hemorrhage were demonstrated in 2 cases. Capsular invasion and necrosis were seen in 1 case. Immunohistochemical study showed that the stromal cells were positive for alpha-inhibin (3/3), S-100 protein (3/3), EGFR (2/2), PAX-2 (2/2), PAX-8 (2/2) and CA9 (2/2) but negative for CKpan (2/2) and HMB45 (2/2). Focal membranous staining for CD10 (3/3) was noted. No VHL gene mutations or chromosome 3p deletion were detected in the 2 cases studied.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Renal hemangioblastoma shows distinctive morphologic appearance with a wide range of variation. The unexpected positive staining for PAX-2, PAX-8 and CD10 in renal hemangioblastoma needs to be aware. Immunohistochemical study may be helpful in differential diagnosis of these renal tumors.</p>

ABSTRACT

Purpose To investigate the expression of EphA1 in renal cell carcinomas ( RCC) and to analyze its correlation with clini-copathological parameters in order to explore the clinical significance of EphA1 protein in renal cell carcinomas ( RCC) . Methods The immunocytochemical method was employed to measure the expression of EphA1 in 144 clear cell RCC ( ccRCC) tissues, 18 chro-mophobe RCC tissues and 6 papillary RCC tissues. Correlation between EphA1 protein expression and clinical parameters was evaluated by statistics. Results High level of the expression of EphA1 was observed in all normal renal tubes. The EphA1 protein was negative-ly or weakly expressed in 93 out of 144 ccRCC (64. 6%) and positively expressed in 51 out of 144 ccRCC (35. 4%). Positive expres-sion of EphA1 was observed in all samples of chromophobe RCC and papillary RCC. The high level expression of the EphA1 protein was significantly associated with younger patients (P<0. 001), sex (P=0. 016) and lower nuclear grade (P<0. 001). No significant relation between the expression of EphA1 and tumor diameter was found ( P=0. 316 ) . Conclusion EphA1 protein may be a new marker for the prognosis of ccRCC.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the clinicopathologic features, immunophenotype, differential diagnosis and prognosis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) associated with t(6;11)(p21.2;q13)/MALAT1-TFEB gene fusion.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 9 cases of such rare tumor were selected for clinicopathologic, immunohistochemical and molecular analysis, with review of literature.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The age of the patients ranged from 21 to 42 years (mean=31.3 years). The patients included four men and five women. Histologically, 4 of the 9 cases studied showed classic morphologic features of TFEB RCC, with hyaline material, pigments and psammoma bodies frequently identified. The remaining 5 cases demonstrated uncommon morphology, mimicking perivascular epithelioid cell neoplasm, clear cell RCC, chromophobe RCC or papillary RCC. Immunohistochemical study showed that TFEB and vimentin were positive in all cases. Most of the tumors studied also expressed Ksp-cadherin, E-cadherin, CD117, HMB45, Melan A and Cathepsin K. CKpan showed immunostaining in only 1 case. The staining for TFE3, CD10 and CK7 were all negative. TFEB gene rearrangement was detected in all the 9 cases studied using fluorescence in-situ hybridization. MALAT1-TFEB fusion gene was identified in 2 cases by polymerase chain reaction and direct sequencing. TFEB RCC seemed to be an indolent tumor. During a mean follow-up of 31 months, none developed tumor recurrence, progression, or metastasis.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>TFEB fusion-associated RCC is a rare neoplasm, tends to occur in young age group and carries an indolent behavior. Diagnosis relies on clinicopathologic findings and immunohistochemical analysis. TFEB break-apart FISH assay is a reliable tool in confirming the diagnosis.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the clinicopathologic features, immunohistochemic phenotypes and genetic alterations of extrapulmonary inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) and the correlation with prognosis.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Thirty cases of IMT with follow-up were analyzed morphologically and immunohistochemically. ALK FISH was also performed to determine the ALK gene status.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Patients ranged in age from 12 to 73 years (mean 43.4 years). The male-to-female ratio was 1.0: 1.1. The tumors were located in various anatomical sites including gastrointestinal tract, liver, spleen, kidney, pelvic, retroperitoneum, mediastinum etc. Histologically, the majority of cases were composed of spindled fibroblastic and myofibroblastic cells accompanied by an inflammatory infiltrate of plasma cells, lymphocytes, and eosinophils. Most cases with aggressive behavior had features including prominent nucleoli and edematous myxoid background. Lymphohistiocytic reactions were usually absent. Some cases showed multinucleation, nuclear pleomorphism and mitoses. One case demonstrated epithelioid morphology with round-to-epithelioid cells. The immunohistochemical study showed vimentin, SMA, CK, desmin, and ALK were expressed in 100% (30/30), 70% (21/30), 13% (4/30), 27% (8/30), and 27% (8/30) of IMT, respectively. Diffuse cytoplasmic ALK staining was detected in seven cases. One case (containing round-to-epithelioid cells) demonstrated ALK nuclear membrane staining, coupled with positive reaction for CD30 and negative reaction for LCA. EMA, CD34, CD117 and S-100 protein, and MyoD1 were negative for all cases. Six ALK protein positive cases harbored ALK gene rearrangement, but not the remaining 22 cases. Follow-up data were available in 21 patients. After initial resection, 14 patients were alive with no evidence of disease, while 4 patients were alive with tumor recurrence and 3 patients died of the disease.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Most IMT with aggressive behavior have features including prominent nucleoli, edematous myxoid background, and positive expression of ALK. Lymphohistiocytic reaction is usually absent. ALK may be a potential novel therapeutic target for IMT.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the clinicopathological features, differential diagnosis and prognosis of clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma (CCPRCC).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The histological, immunohistochemical, and molecular features were studied in 11 cases and follow-up data were also analyzed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>There were a total of 3 females and 8 males. The age of patients were ranged from 33 to 72 years(mean age 52.5 years). The diameters of tumors varied from 1cm to 4 cm. Histologically, papillary and cystic architecture were present at least focally in all tumors. The papillae were covered by small to medium-sized cuboidal cells with abundant clear cytoplasm and often showed extensive secondary branching, which were often folded and densely packed, resulting in a solid appearance. The nuclei were round and uniform in shape; nucleoli were not prominent (Fuhrman grade 1 or 2). Neither mitotic figures nor necrosis was present. All 11 cases exhibited moderate to strong positivity for CK7, CA9, vimentin, and HIF-1α, coupled with negative reactions for CD10, P504S, and TFE3. Ksp-cadherin was positively expressed in 8 cases.VHL gene mutations were not found in all 11 cases. Losses of chromosomes 3 (monoploid chromosome 3) was detected in 3 cases.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>CCPRCC is uncommon and seemed to be an indolent tumor. The differential diagnosis should be included tumors, which harbor clear cell and papillary structure including clear cell renal cell carcinoma, papillary renal cell carcinoma, Xp11 translocation renal cell carcinoma, and CCPRCC. Immunohistochemical and molecular analysis may be help for its diagnosis.</p>

ABSTRACT

Background and purpose: The protein tyrosine kinase-7 (PTK7) gene may be related to the occurrence and progression of many tumors. This study was aimed to explore the expression of PTK7 in ovarian serous tumors and its relationship with clinical stage, histological grade, metastasis and prognosis indicators linkages, and analyze the diagnostic and prognostic value of PTK7 in ovarian serous tumors. Methods:Expressions of PTK7 in 3 ovarian cell lines (HO8910, SKOV3, A2780), 14 cases of normal fallopian tube epithelium, 6 cases of benign serous ovarian tumors, 51 cases of borderline serous ovarian tumors and in 97 cases of ovarian serous carcinoma were detected by immunohistochemical EliVision two-step method. Statistical analysis of the relationship between the expression of PTK7 and the pathological indicators was performed byχ2 test, Fisher exact test and Kaplan-Meier method. Results:PTK7 was negatively expressed in HO8910 and A2780, but weakly positively expressed in SKOV3. The positive rates of PTK7 in normal fallopian tube epithelium, benign serous ovarian tumors, borderline serous ovarian tumors and serous ovarian cancer were 92.86%(13/14), 83.33%(5/6), 45.10%(23/51), and 28.87%(28/97), respectively. The expression of PTK7 had no difference between normal fallopian tube epithelium and benign serous tumors, benign serous tumors and serous borderline tumors (P=0.521, P=0.102). The PTK7 expression showed signiifcant differences in serous ovarian carcinoma compared with those in normal epithelium, benign serous tumors and borderline serous tumors (P=0.000, P=0.012, P=0.048). Expression of PTK7 in borderline serous ovarian tumors was signiifcantly with clinical stage, metastasis (lymph node and/or peritoneum metastasis) (P=0.038, P=0.038), rather than its location, age (P=0.088, P=0.896). Expression of PTK7 in ovarian serous carcinoma had a signiifcant relation with its clinical stage, WHO grade, MDACC grade (P=0.011, P=0.004, P=0.000), rather than its location, metastasis, tumor diameter and age (P=0.326, P=0.524, P=0.588, P=0.584). The survival rate of PTK7 positive group in ovarian serous carcinoma was signiifcantly higher than that in the negative control group (P=0.017). Conclusion:The expressions of PTK7 in normal ovarian epithelium, benign serous ovarian tumors, borderline serous ovarian tumors and epithelial serous carcinoma show a gradual downward trend. The expression of PTK7 in ovarian serous tumors has a positive correlation with late clinical stage, high histological grade and poor prognosis. PTK7 can be a new indicator of clinical diagnosis and prognosis in ovarian serous tumors.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the continuous pathological features of biopsy specimens from five cases of small bowel allotransplantation (SBT) in order to provide more reliable information for the diagnosis and treatment of acute rejection (AR) in SBT.Methods324 biopsy specimens of intestinal mucosa after SBT from 5 patients were collected and studied by histology,histochemistry and electron microscopy.ResultsIn the early stage after operation (0~3 months),AR IND-1 grade was diagnosed for four times on 3 of 5 patients.During 3-6 months,AR IND-1 grade for three times was diagnosed in 2 cases,and AR 2 grade for two times during 7 ~ 12 months. All the patients suffered ischemia reperfusion injury, lymphatic vessel reconstruction and AR.Conclusion The pathological examination of biopsy specimens of intestinal mucosa is still the most reliable detecting method to diagnose AR,and continuous observation may play an important role to monitor the occurrence,development,and treatment response of AR. The final diagnosis of AR depends on structure of intestinal mucosa,crypt epithelium injury and inflammatory cells infiltration. The communication among the pathologist and surgeon is the best way to reduce misdiagnoses.Ultrastructural examination is used to verify the pathogenic microorganism.

ABSTRACT

Purpose To investigate the clinicopathologic features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of ovarian juvenile granulosa cell tumor (JGCT).Methods The history records, pathologic features and immunophenotype of 8 cases of JGCT were retrospectively evaluated and their prognosis was achieved by follow-up.Results The age of patients ranged from 6~21 years old,with an average age of 15.1 years.The main clinical manifestations included an abdominal mass, ascites and isosexual pseudoprecocity. Cut surface of the tumor was typically solid with cysts formed. The histopathological changes displayed solid nests, diffuse sheet, multiple round or ovoid follicles in variable size.Macrofollicles could be seen in some cases.The follicular pattern consisted of small cystic cavities containing eosinophilic secretions. The tumor cells were round or polygonal, medium in size. The tumor cells had abundant pale or slightly eosinophilic cytoplasm, round nuclei with fine chromatin. Nuclear grooves were inconspicuous.Mitosis figures could be found. Immunohistochemical results showed that the tumor cells expressed inhibin-α,CD99,vimentin; while Melan-A,calretinin and S-100 were positive staining in part of the cases.CKpan,EMA,PLAP,Syn and CgA were negative in all the cases.Conclusions Ovarian juvenile granulosa cell tumor is a rather rare, low malignant tumor with good prognosis. Its diagnosis depends on the histologic and immunohistochemical findings and clinical features. Its differential diagnosis includes adult granulose cell tumor, hypercalcaemic type small cell carcinoma, carcinoid and dysgerminoma.

Objective To detect the expression and distribution of activated cytotoxic cells in types of lymphoma with tissue microarray, and provide evidences for clinical treatment and prognosis. Methods Immunohistochemical staining by S-P technique was used to detect the expression and distribution of perforin and granzyme B in the lymphoma tissue microarray, composed of 60 cases of lymphoma tissue. Ten cases of NK/T-cell lymphoma routine sections were used for relative research, and ten cases of reactive hyperplasia were used for comparison. Results In the tissue microarray, originated from intranode and extranode were 48 cases and 12 cases, respectively; consisting of 42 cases of B-cell lymphoma, 16 cases of T-cell lymphoma, two cases of Hodgkin's disease. 42 cases of B-cell lymphoma cells were negative in perforin and granzyme B. In Ten cases of peripheral T-cell lymphoma, perforin and granzyme B positive were eight cases and nine cases, respectively, but the positive cells were no tumor cells. In 12 cases of NK/T-cell lymphoma (two in the tissue microarray, ten routine sections), both perforin and granzyme B were strongly positive. B-cell lymphoma, T-cell lymphoma and NK/T-cell lymphoma differed significantly (P<0.01). Conclusion Perforin and granzyme B were immunity markers for the identification of activated cytotoxic cells, which also could be used as diagnostic markers of NK/T-cell lymphoma. Their expression in B-cell lymphoma reflected the anti-tumor immunologic reaction of host. Tissue microarray technology has the behavior of high-throughput, convenient, effective, small experiment error, good replication and so on, and can be used as a useful tool for research of lymphoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To improve the limitation and stability of tissue processing on mucosa from small intestine transplantation and to provide better evidence of pathological diagnosis for the acute rejection on small intestine transplantation. Method:92 samples of mucosa from small intestine transplantation were reviewed.There were three methods of tissue processing (ultrasonic wave and microwave as well as routine) were adopted.The results were analyzed with statistical methods. Results: Among 18 samples processed by the method of ultrasonic wave,4 samples were A grade (22.22%). Among 50 samples processed by the method of microwave,30 samples were A grade (60.00%). Among 24 samples processed by the method of routine,13 samples were A grade (54.17%).The Chi Square Test suggested that there was statistic difference among three processing methods. Conclusions: Microwave is the best method of tissue processing on mucosa of small intestine transplantation and for the diagnosis acute rejection.

Objective: To investigate EphA7 protein expression of gastric carcinoma cells and its clinicopathological parameters.Methods: The expression level of EphA7 protein in gastric carcinoma and normal mucosa was detected using immunohistochemical staining.Results: The overexpression of EphA7 protein in gastric carcinoma was significantly related to age(P=0.016) and stage(P =0.033).Conclusion: EphA7 was differentially expressed in gastric carcinoma cells.

Objective:Eph is the largest member of the family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK). Hypermethylation of CpG island is an important mechanism leading to down-regulation of EphA7 in gastric cancer. The objective of this study is to investigate the expression level of EphA7 in gastric carcinoma and its roles in the development,progression and prognosis of gastric carcinoma. Methods:The expression level of EphA7 transcript in gastric carcinoma specimens and normal mucosa tissues was detected using real-time RT-PCR. Results:The expression level of EphA7 in gastric carcinoma was divided into three groups according to the expression rate in gastric cancer tissue and matched normal mucosa. Statistics analysis showed that the expression of EphA7 is significantly related to age and stage. Overexpression of EphA7 has a tendency to relate to metastasis. Conclusion:EphA7 is differentially expressed in gastric carcinoma specimens. Overexpression of EphA7 may play a role in the development and progress of gastric carcinoma.

Objective:Clusterin is highly expressed in lymphoid and hematopoietoid tissue tumors in literature.This study is to investigate the significance of clusterin in the diagnosis of tumors by detecting its expression in follicular dendritic cell sarcoma/tumor(FDCS/T) and anaplastic large cell lymphoma(ALCL).Methods: The expression of clusterin was detected by immunohistochemical method in ALCL,diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL),follicular lymphoma(FL),mantle cell lymphoma(MCL),NK/T-cell lymphoma(NK/T),peripheral T-cell lymphoma(PTL),plasma cell lymphoma(PCL),classical Hodgkin lymphoma(CHL) and FDCS/T.The expressions of CD30 and ALK in ALCL,and of CD21+CD35 in FDCS/T were also detected,and so were those of clusterin and CD21+CD35 in 10 cases of reactive hyperplasia of the lymph node were detected.Results: Clusterin and CD21+CD35 were both expressed in 8 cases of FDCS/T.The positive expression rates of clusterin,CD30 and ALK1 in 20 cases of ALCL were 85.00%(17/20),100%(20/20) and 50.00%(10/20),respectively.Clusterin was expressed in 4.70% of the 85 DLBCL cases(4/85),but not in other lymphoma tissues;clusterin and CD21+CD35 were both expressed in 100% of the 2 FDCS/T cases,and they were also expressed in reactive hyperplasia of lymph nodes as well as in follicular dendritic cells,but not in B-and T-cells.Conclusion: Clusterin might be a new marker for follicular dendritic cells,helpful to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of ALCL.

Objectives:To investigate the expression and distribution of b FGF in human non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC),and to evaluate the relationship between the expression of b FGF and the biological behavior of NSCLC, especially tumor angiogenesis and lymph node metastasis. Methods:The expression of b FGF and IMVD in 95 patients with NSCLC was examined using immunohistochemical methods (SP), and the relationship between the expression and many clinicopathological parameters were analyzed. Results: The positive rates of b FGF in carcinoma tissue (NSCLC) were much higher than those in the normal lung tissues nearby ( P 0.05). Conclusions: b FGF may play an important role in tumor angiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis of human NSCLC , and detection of b FGF may be a good metastasis and prognostic predictors for human NSCLC.
