ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Breast cancer patients who are positive for hormone receptor typically exhibit a favorable prognosis. It is controversial whether chemotherapy is necessary for them after surgery. Our study aimed to establish a multigene model to predict the relapse of hormone receptor-positive early-stage Chinese breast cancer after surgery and direct individualized application of chemotherapy in breast cancer patients after surgery.@*METHODS@#In this study, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified between relapse and nonrelapse breast cancer groups based on RNA sequencing. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was performed to identify potential relapse-relevant pathways. CIBERSORT and Microenvironment Cell Populations-counter algorithms were used to analyze immune infiltration. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression, log-rank tests, and multiple Cox regression were performed to identify prognostic signatures. A predictive model was developed and validated based on Kaplan-Meier analysis, receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC).@*RESULTS@#A total of 234 out of 487 patients were enrolled in this study, and 1588 DEGs were identified between the relapse and nonrelapse groups. GSEA results showed that immune-related pathways were enriched in the nonrelapse group, whereas cell cycle- and metabolism-relevant pathways were enriched in the relapse group. A predictive model was developed using three genes ( CKMT1B , SMR3B , and OR11M1P ) generated from the LASSO regression. The model stratified breast cancer patients into high- and low-risk subgroups with significantly different prognostic statuses, and our model was independent of other clinical factors. Time-dependent ROC showed high predictive performance of the model.@*CONCLUSIONS@#A multigene model was established from RNA-sequencing data to direct risk classification and predict relapse of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in Chinese patients. Utilization of the model could provide individualized evaluation of chemotherapy after surgery for breast cancer patients.

ABSTRACT

Metastasis is the leading cause of death in patients with lung cancer .Circulating tumor cells (CTCs)play a key role in the process of distant metastasis .In recent years, research results have shown that CTCs may become a emerging marker and new target in the treatment of lung cancer .In this article,we elaborate the clinical significance of CTCs in lung cancer from the way of diagnosis and clinical staging ,metastasis and recur-rence,individual treatment and prognosis and so on ,so that we can provide a new direction for the treatment of lung cancer .

ABSTRACT

Immunosenescence is a biological process featured by the structural and functional decline of immunity in ageing people, which favors the carcinogenesis by rendering the body's immune surveillance and tumor escape.Decreasing clearance of tumor cells by macrophages and natural killer cell reflects the immunosenescence of innate immune, also, the tumor antigen presentation ability of dendritic cell is decreased. While, the decline of the CD8 + T cells cytotoxic effect and the secretion of tumor growth factor accounts for the immunosenescence of adaptive immunity.Intervention of immunosenescence may produce the novelty ideas of prevention and treatment of cancer.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of the traditional Chinese medicine Yifei Kangliu (YFKL) Oral Liquid on the proliferation, cell cycle and protein-nucleic acid synthesis of murine Lewis lung cancer cell and human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A-1. METHODS: The inhibiting rates of tumor growth were calculated by weighing the weight of tumor inoculated in vivo, combined by counting cancer cells in vitro. The ratio of the cell cycle and exponents of DNA, RNA, and protein were measured by flow cytometry (FCM). RESULTS: The inhibiting rate of tumor growth in the treated group with YFKL Oral Liquid was 30.38% (P<0.05). The proportion of cells in S phase of the treated groups with YFKL Oral Liquid was lower than that of the control group. In the group with most significant result, 72% of the cells were stagnated in G0/G1 phase. The inhibiting rates of DNA, RNA and protein in murine Lewis lung cancer were 7.4%, 23.73% and 23.31% respectively. In SPC-A-1 cell line, the inhibiting rates were 9.3%, 10.1% and 14.7% respectively, demonstrating amplified effects on lower levels. CONCLUSION: YFKL Oral Liquid significantly inhibited the proliferation of murine Lewis lung cancer cell and human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A-1 by blocking the cancer cells entering the proliferative phase resulted from its inhibition of DNA.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe effects of Yiqi Yangyin Jiedu Fang on serum vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and Immunologic function in the patient of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods:Fifty-one cases of NSCLC were randomly divided into a Chinese medicine group,a chemotherapy group and a chemotherapy plus Chinese medicine group. The therapeutic effect and changes of clinical symptoms, physical strength, immunologic indexes and serum VEGF before and after treatment were investigated in all groups. Results:Tumor stable rate in Chinese medicine group and chemotherapy plus Chinese medicine group after treatment was higher than that in chemotherapy group with no significant difference, but improvement of clinical symptoms and physical strength in Chinese medicine group and chemotherapy plus Chinese medicine group after treatment was significantly superior to that in chemotherapy group(both P

ABSTRACT

In view of the deficiencies of both Qi and Yin in most cases of this tumor, Jinfukang oral solution (JFK). a remedy mainly for benefiting Qi and nourishing -yin. was formulated. 96 cases were treated with one case of CR. 8 cases PR, 52 NC. the rate of PR + NC being 63. 5%. Another 52 cases were treated with chemotherapy +JFK. with 11 cases of PR, 26 cases NC, the rate of PR + NC being 71. 2%. While 25 cases were treated by chemotherapy alone, the cases of PR was 4; NC 26. the rate of PR + NC being 60. 0%, This demonstrated that the effect of JFK and JFK + chemotherapy were all superior to effect of chemotherapy alone. For 1 - and 2 - year survival rates, the JFK group was 67. 3% and 66. 7% respectively, whereas that of JFK + chemotherapy. 67. 3% and 66. 7%. For the chemotherapy group , 1 - year survival rate was 40. 3%, with no survivals within 2 years. For symptom improvement, body weight gaining, and health condition (KPS evaluation) after treatment, the JFK and JFK + chemotherapy groups were, again, superior to the chemotherapy group. The Immunity indices and blood picture in JFK group after treatment were markedly improved as compared with those before treatment, but, those in the chemotherapy group were decreased, while those of the JFK + chemotherapy group remained unchanged.
