ABSTRACT

Objective:To summarize and analyze the clinical features of food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES).Methods:The medical history and follow-up data of 5 children with FPIES diagnosed in Department of Gastroenterology, Beijing Children′s Hospital of Capital Medical University from July 2018 to September 2019 were collected, and their clinical characteristics were summarized and analyzed. Results:Five children with FPIES were all infants, including 3 females and 2 males. Before the onset of the disease, the cases visited multiple departments and the average number of visits before diagnosis was 3.There were 4 cases of milk protein allergy and 1 case of egg white allergy. The patients had acute vomiting [5 cases (100%)], diarrhea [4 cases (80%)], early shock symptoms [5 cases (100%)], transient fever [2 cases (40%)]. Hematogenous leukocytes were increased in 3 cases (60%), C-reactive protein was increased in 1 case (20%), faecal leukocytes(+ )[2 cases (40%)], occult blood (+ ) [1 case (20%)]. Four cases were tested for food allergen specific IgE, of which 2 cases (40%) were positive for milk protein. After avoiding allergens, 3 patients (60%) needed intravenous rehydration treatment and 2 cases (40%) received oral rehydration treatment. The above 5 cases recovered quickly.Three patients (60%) used antibiotics.Four cases (80%) of the first-degree relatives of FPIES had a clear history of allergy.Families of children with FPIES had low awareness of the disease before the diagnosis was made, and the allergens were strictly avoided according to the doctor′s instructions after the diagnosis was made.Similar allergic reactions did not occur again, and complementary foods were gradua-lly added under the guidance of the doctor. Two patients had multiple food allergies. The body weight and length of 2 children with growth retardation were catching up with each other. Conclusions:FPIES is a serious food allergy related gastrointestinal disease which is easy to be misdiagnosed clinically. The diagnosis requires a combination of the family and personal allergy history, diet records, the characteristic performance of disease onset, the effect of diet avoi-dance and the necessary differential diagnosis. The long-term management and monitoring after diagnosis is also very important.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe and evaluate the efficacy and safety of Ganduqing Granules in the treatment of common cold due to qi deficiency and pathogen invasion. Method:A multi-center, randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted. One hundred and twenty patients were randomly divided into an experimental group (n=60) and a control group (n=60). Patients in the experimental group were treated with oral Ganduqing Granules, 6 g per time, 3 times per day, while those in the control group received placebo, 6 g per time, 3 times per day. After treatment for 5 successive days in both groups, the overall remission rate, total score of primary symptoms, total score of secondary symptoms, total score of all symptoms, time required for overall symptom remission, and therapeutic efficacy against traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome in the two groups were analyzed in both full analysis set (FAS) and per-protocol set (PPS), followed by the evaluation of safety in the safety set (SS). Result:No drop-out was found in the experimental group, whereas 3 cases in the control group dropped out. After 5 days of treatment, the overall remission rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.01). The analysis in FAS and PDS revealed identical results. The experimental group was obviously better than the control group in improving the total scores of primary symptoms, secondary symptoms, and all symptoms (P<0.01). The analysis results in FAS and PDS were consistent. There was no significant difference in overall remission time between the two groups. The experimental group was remarkably superior to the control group in alleviating such symptoms as aversion to wind and cold, nasal congestion, runny nose, fatigue, shortness of breath, laziness to speak, dry throat, sore throat, cough, and expectoration (P<0.05,P<0.01). The analysis results in FAS were the same as those in PDS. All the patients did not present with significant abnormalities in vital signs, blood routine test, or liver and kidney function tests after medication. There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse events between the experimental group and the control group. Conclusion:Ganduqing Granules effectively alleviate the symptoms of patients with common cold and shorten the course of disease, without inducing obvious side effects.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the accessibility construction status of road traffic sidewalks in Shanghai. Methods:From July to September, 2019, 46 road traffic sidewalks in Shanghai were selected using a convenience sampling, and evaluation tools were designed based on the Codes for Accessibility Design (GB 50763-2012) and Standards for Design on Accessibility of Buildings and Facilities (DGJ08-103-2003). After field check and experience for the sidewalks, the compliance rates of evaluation dimensions and evaluation contents of sidewalks were analyzed using the descriptive analysis. The weights of each dimension were calculated using the principal component analysis to construct the sidewalk comprehensive barrier score model, and to compare the sidewalk comprehensive barrier scores in different areas of Shanghai. From September to November 2019, in-depth interviews were conducted with eleven persons with disabilities to understand the sidewalk barriers for them. Results:The overall compliance rate of sidewalk accessibility was 4.35%. Among the evaluated contents, 93.5% sidewalks had a curb ramp, 91.3% had a height difference between the ramp and the carriageway, 26.1% were not paved with tactile ground surface indicators; 71.7% tactile ground surface indicators were blocked by poles, etc., and 84.8% were occupied by obstacles. The warning indicator was the greatest weight among the evaluated dimensions. The barrier of sidewalks was high (36.7%) and medium (20.0%) in the central area, which was higher than that in the sub-central area (both 6.3%) (P < 0.05). There were many obstacles during the experience of sidewalks using, resulting in less using of the barrier-free facilities. Conclusion:Most of the sidewalks in Shanghai do not meet the standards of the Codes for Accessibility Design. It is urgent to construct and maintain the barrier-free facilities.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the effect of herb-partitioned moxibustion (HPM) on tight junctions (TJs) of intestinal epithelial cells in Crohn disease (CD) mediated by tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB)-myosin-light- chain kinase (MLCK) pathway. Methods: Forty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normal control (NC) group, a model control (MC) group, an HPM group and a mesalazine (MESA) group, with 12 rats in each group. Trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS) was administered to establish CD models. When the model was confirmed a success, the HPM group rats were treated with HPM at Tianshu (ST 25) and Qihai (CV 6), while the MESA group rats were given MESA solution by lavage. When the intervention finished, the colonic epithelial tissues were separated, purified and cultured in each group to establish the intestinal epithelial barrier model in vitro, and TNF-α was added (100 ng/mL) in the culture medium and maintained for 24 h to establish an increased epithelial permeability model. Transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) was used to examine the permeability of the barrier; Western blot was used to observe the expressions of the proteins related to TJs of intestinal epithelial cells mediated by TNF-α-NF-κB-MLCK pathway; immunofluorescence staining was used to observe the expressions and distributions of tight junction proteins in the intestinal epithelium. Results: After TNF-α induction, compared with the MC+TNF-α group, the TEER value increased significantly in the HPM+TNF-α and MESA+TNF-α groups (both P<0.001); the expressions of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) p65, MLCK, myosin light chain (MLC), tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) and receptor interaction protein-1 (RIP1) decreased significantly (P<0.01 or P<0.05), and the expression of zinc finger protein A20 (A20) increased significantly (P<0.01); the expressions of occludin, claudin-1, zonula occludens protein 1 (ZO-1) and F-actin also increased significantly (all P<0.01). Compared with the MESA+TNF-α group, the expressions of MLC, occludin, claudin-1, ZO-1 and F-actin increased significantly in the HPM+TNF-α group (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Conclusion: HPM can protect or repair the damage of intestinal epithelial barrier in CD rats, which may be achieved through modulating the abnormal TJs in intestinal epithelium mediated by TNF-α-NF-κB-MLCK pathway.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the molecular characteristics of Echovirus 11 (Echo11) strains isolated in Xiangyang, Hubei Province from 2016 to 2017 based on the sequences of VP1 gene. Methods:Rectal and throat swab specimens were collected from children with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in Xiangyang from 2016 to 2017. Echo11 strains were detected by real-time reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR) and isolated after cultured in human rhabdosarcoma (RD) cells. The VP1 regions of Echo11 strains isolated from RD cells and the whole genomes of three representative Echo11 strains were amplified by conventional RT-PCR and the sequences were analyzed. DNAStar7.0 (MegAlign) and MEGA6.0 (Data) were used to analyze the homology and mutation sites in nucleotide and amino acid sequences. Neighbor-joining method was used to construct phylogenetic trees. Recombination analysis was performed with SimPlot software (BootScanning). Results:A total of 11 Echo11 strains were isolated from 3 494 HFMD cases, accounting for 0.31%. They were highly homologous in the VP1 gene. These strains shared 98.4%-100.0% homology in nucleotide sequences and 98.3%-100.0% homology in amino acid sequences. The homology between the 11 Echo11 strains and the prototype strain (Echo11/Gregory, X80059) was 73.9%-74.8% in nucleotide sequences and 87.7%-88.7% in amino acid sequences. All of the Echo11 strains circulating in Xiangyang were classified into lineage D, having a similarity to the strains circulating in some regions of mainland China since 2013. In multiple regions of the genome, the Echo11 strains isolated in Xiangyang were highly similar to the Henan Echo1 strains in 2010 and the Hubei Echo6 strains in 2015, suggesting there was recombination within the genome of Echo11 strains in Xiangyang. Conclusions:The Echo11 strains circulating in Xiangyang from 2016 to 2017 belonged to lineage D and were recombinant strains.

Objective:To investigate mechanisms underlying the signal crosstalk of VEGF-IL-6-STAT3 between cutaneous melanoma cells and vascular endothelial cells.Methods:EC-304 vascular endothelial cells were divided into 3 groups: control group cultured in conventional endothelial cell-conditioned medium, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) group cultured in endothelial cell-conditioned medium containing 50 μg/L VEGF 165, A375 co-culture group co-cultured with a melanoma cell line A375. After 24-, 48- and 72-hour treatment, the culture medium was collected, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was performed to detect the level of interleukin-6 (IL-6) . Cultured A375 cells were divided into 4 groups: control group receiving conventional culture in Dulbecco′s modified Eagle′s medium (DMEM) , A375+ EC-304 group co-cultured with EC-304 cells, A375+ EC-304+ IL-6 group co-cultured with EC-304 cells in DMEM containing 50 μg/L IL-6 (an agonist of the signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 [STAT3] pathway) , A375+ EC-304+ JSI-124 group co-cultured with EC-304 cells in DMEM containing 1 μmol/L JSI-124 (a STAT3 pathway inhibitor) . After 24-, 48- and 72-hour treatment, cells were collected, and Western blot analysis, cell counting kit-8 (CCK8) assay and Transwell invasion assay were performed to determine the protein expression of STAT3 and phosphorylated (p) -STAT3, cellular proliferative activity and invasive activity, respectively. Two-way analysis of variance and t test were used for statistical analysis. Results:The level of IL-6 significantly increased in the culture medium of EC-304 cells in the VEGF group and A375 co-culture group compared with the control group ( FVEGF = 29.63, P < 0.001; FA375 = 11.09, P = 0.020) . Compared with the control group, the A375+ EC-304 group showed significantly enhanced protein expression of p-STAT3 in A375 cells ( P < 0.001) , increased cell activity ( P < 0.001) , and increased number of invasive cells (152.66 ± 16.04 vs. 86.13 ± 7.24, t= 4.43, P < 0.001) ; compared with the A375+ EC-304 group, the A375+ EC-304+ IL-6 group showed significantly increased protein expression of p-STAT3 ( P < 0.001) , enhanced cell activity ( P < 0.001) , and increased number of invasive cells (187.34 ± 14.38, t= 2.17, P < 0.001) ; compared with the A375+ EC-304 group, the A375+ EC-304+ JSI-124 group showed significantly decreased protein expression of p-STAT3 ( P < 0.001) , decreased cell activity ( P < 0.001) , and decreased number of invasive cells (124.92 ± 8.72, t=-1.86, P < 0.001) . Conclusion:There is a signal crosstalk of VEGF-IL-6-STAT3 between cutaneous melanoma cells and vascular endothelial cells, which may play an important role in the proliferation and invasion of A375 cells.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the risk factors for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer, and application value of a nomogram prediction model. Methods:The retrospective case-control study was conducted. The clinicopathological data of 228 patients with stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer who underwent radical resection in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi′an Jiaotong University from January 2013 to June 2016 were collected. There were 118 males and 110 females, aged from 25 to 87 years, with a median age of 62 years. All patients underwent open or laparoscopic-assisted radical resection of colon cancer. Observation indicators: (1) postoperative tumor recurrence; (2) risk factors analysis for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer; (3) development and evaluation of a nomogram prediction model for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer. Follow-up using outpatient examination and telephone interview was performed to detect postoperative 3-year tumor recurrence up to June 2019. Measurement data with skewed distribution were represented as M (range). Count data were described as absolute numbers, and comparison between groups was analyzed using the Pearson chi-square test or Fisher exact probability. Multivariate analysis was performed using Logistic stepwise regression analysis. The independent risk factors were included into R 3.6.1 software to construct a nomogram prediction model. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was drawed, and the area under curve (AUC) was used to evaluate discrimination of the nomogram prediction model. The calibration chart with R software was used to evaluate consistency of the nomogram prediction model. Results:(1)Postoperative tumor recurrence: 53 of 228 patients had postoperative tumor recurrence including 19 cases with locoregional recurrence and 34 cases with distant metastasis. Of the 34 patients with distant metastasis, there were 14 cases with liver metastasis, 7 cases with lung metastasis, 4 cases with brain metastasis, and 9 cases with multiple metastasis or isolated metastasis in other sites. The time to recurrence was 12 months (range, 6-19 months). (2) Risk factors analysis for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer:results of univariate analysis showed that bowel obstruction, preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level, ascites, vascular invasion were related factors for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer ( χ2=4.463, 13.622, 10.914, 5.911, P<0.05). Pathological N stage was also a related factor for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer ( P<0.05). Results of multivariate analysis showed that preoperative CEA level >5 μg/L, ascites, vascular invasion and pathological N stage as stage N1 or N2 were independent risk factors for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer ( odds ratio=3.129, 3.071, 7.634, 3.439, 15.467, 95% confidence interval as 1.328-7.373, 1.047-9.007, 1.103-52.824, 1.422-8.319, 3.498-68.397, P<0.05). (3) Development and evaluation of a nomogram prediction model for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer: based on preoperative CEA level, ascites, vascular invasion and pathological N stage of multivariate analysis, a nomogram prediction model for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer was developed using R 3.6.1 software. The nomogram score was 41.7 for preoperative CEA level >5 μg/L, 41.0 for ascites, 74.2 for vascular invasion, 45.1 and 100.0 for pathological N stage as stage N1 and N2, respectively. The total of different scores for risk factors corresponded to the probability of postoperative recurrence. The ROC of nomogram for recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer was drawed, with the AUC of 0.805(95% confidence interval as 0.737-0.873, P<0.05). The calibration chart showed a good consistency between the probability of recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer predicted by nomogram and the actual probability of postoperative recurrence. Conclusions:Preoperative CEA level >5 μg/L, ascites, vascular invasion and pathological N stage as stage N1 or N2 are independent risk factors for tumor recurrence after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer. The nomogram prediction model contributes to prediction of the recurrent risks after radical resection of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon cancer.

ABSTRACT

The clinical data of a case of paroxysmal extreme pain disorder(PEPD) in Guangdong 999 Brain Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The male patient, age of first examination was 7 months, began to have recurrent tonic accompanied by facial redness or cyanosis at 5 months after birth. The patient was diagnosed with epilepsy. The oral solution of sodium valproate and Levetiracetam were not effective. The video electroencephalogram examination displayed that, when the patient had tonic and bradycardia, the synchro electroencephalogram did not show epileptic discharge, so the patient was considered to have non-epileptic tonic.Genetic examination suggested that SCN9A gene mutation of c. 5240T >C resulted in amino acid changes: Val1747Ala.Combined with the skin changes, the patient was diagnosed as PEPD caused by SCN9A gene mutation. After the treatment with Carbamazepine, the patient′s abnormal skin changed and his-epileptic tonic disappeared, and his condition improved significantly. The early stage of PEPD can be mainly manifested as non-epileptic tonic. It is easy to be misdiagnosed as epilepsy, so the patient′s characteristic skin changes should be noticed, and genetic examination is also helpful in the diagnosis of the disease.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#This study aimed to investigate the changes in microRNA-130a (miR-130a) and its correlation with cardiotoxicity during epirubicin/cyclophosphamide followed by docetaxel plus trastuzumab (EC-D+T) adjuvant chemotherapy in human epidermal growth factor receptor-2-positive (HER2+) breast cancer patients. @*Methods@#A total of 72 HER2+ breast cancer patients who underwent resection and were scheduled to receive EC-D+T adjuvant therapy were consecutively enrolled. The expression of miR-130a and cardiotoxicity (defined as any of the following situations: 1) absolute decline of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥ 10% and LVEF < 53%; 2) heart failure; 3) acute coronary artery syndromes; and 4) fatal arrhythmia) were assessed every 3 months throughout the 15-month EC-D+T treatment. @*Results@#The accumulating cardiotoxicity rate was 12 (16.7%), of which the incidence of heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, life-threatening arrhythmias, ΔLVEF ≥ 10%, and LVEF < 53% was 0 (0.0%), 1 (1.4%), 0 (0.0%), and 12 (16.7%), respectively. Baseline miR-130a expression was negatively correlated with LVEF (%) and positively correlated with cardiac troponin I. The expression of miR-130a gradually increased in both cardiotoxicity and noncardiotoxicity patients during EC-D+T treatment, while the increment of miR-130a was more obvious in cardiotoxicity patients compared with non-cardiotoxicity patients. Further logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis indicated that miR-130a was an independent predictive factor for increased cardiotoxicity risk. @*Conclusion@#MiR-130a increases constantly and predicts high cardiotoxicity risk during ECD+T adjuvant chemotherapy in HER2+ breast cancer patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective:Nivolumab is one of the most common programmed death 1 (PD-1) inhibitors used as an immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI). It brings significant therapeutic effects but often accompanied by serious drug toxicity. The pulmonary toxicities of nivolumab are not clear. This study aims to systematically explore the nivolumab-associated pulmonary toxicities and provide reference for clinical treatment. Methods:Data were extracted from US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database from January 1, 2016 to September 30, 2019. Two types of disproportionality analysis, information component (IC) and reporting odds ratio (ROR), were applied in nivolumab-associated pulmonary adverse events (AEs) signal detection. Results:A total of 28 489 309 records were extracted from FAERS database and 8 181 records were associated with nivolumab. Analysis was conducted in 179 AEs and 86 signals were detected. Notably, potent signals were detected in radiation pneumonitis (IC025: 3.99, ROR025: 17.25), pneumonitis (IC025: 3.34, ROR025: 10.64) and bronchial fistula (IC025: 2.94, ROR025: 8.78). Nivolumab-associated pulmonary toxicities were more frequently reported in dyspnoea (IC025: 0.50, ROR025: 1.44), pneumonia (IC025: 0.08, ROR025: 1.07) and pneumonitis (IC025: 3.34, ROR025: 10.64). Results of IC and ROR methods were similar to each other. Most pulmonary toxicities were observed in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (N=3 711, 32.13%), malignant melanoma (N=1 658, 14.36%) and renal cell carcinoma (N=731, 6.33%). Conclusion:Significant pulmonary toxicities were detected in patients treated with nivolumab. Thus, it is highly important for clinicians to be vigilant about nivolumab-associated pulmonary AEs and be prepared to take immediate action for patient safety.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the expression and its clinical significance of cydooxygenase-2(COX-2)and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)in mucosal tissues in elderly ulcerative colitis(UC)patients with arthritis. Methods:A total of 164 active(observation group)and 50 non-active(control group)UC patients with arthritis were admitted in our hospital from April 2016 to March 2019.Diagnostic criteria of UC and its severity were based on Consensus on the Norms for Diagnosis and Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in China(2007). The expressions of COX-2 and TNF-alpha in mucosal tissues were detected and compared between the two groups.Patients in the observation group were re-grouped according to the severity of ulcer lesion and Kellgren-Lawrence(K-L)score of arthritis.Based on severity of ulcer lesion and Kellgren-Lawrence(K-L)score of arthritis, the patients in observation group were re-grouped intoⅠ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ subgroups, among those subgroups the expressions of COX-2 and TNF-alpha in mucosal tissues were compared. Results:The expressions of COX-2 and TNF-alpha in mucosal tissue were higher in the observation group than in the control group( P<0.05), and were increased along with the increased severity of UC and the K-L grade of arthritis( P<0.05). The differences in above expressions had statistical significance among patients with different severity of ulcer and different K-L grade of arthritis. The expressions of COX-2 and TNF-alpha in mucosal tissues were positively correlated with the severity of ulcer( r=0.491 and 0.627, P<0.05 or 0.01)and K-L grade of arthritis( r=0.438 and 0.597, P<0.05 or 0.01). Conclusions:The expressions of COX-2 and TNF-alpha in mucosal tissues are positively correlated with the severity of ulcer and K-L grade of arthritis in elderly UC patients with arthritis. The detection of COX-2 and TNF-alpha levels is helpful to evaluate the disease severity.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the timeliness incentive nursing intervention applied to rectal cancer postoperative rehabilitation of colostomy. Methods:A total of 120 cases of permanent rectal cancer patients who were treated with colostomy in Dalian University affiliated Xinhua Hospital during February 2016 to February 2019 were evenly divided into observation group and control group by random number table method. The control group were caught out by conventional postoperative rehabilitation nursing. The control group were caught out by the timeliness incentive nursing intervention. Two groups of patients were compared before and after continuous care for 3 months in many ways which included the pain degree, the time to get out of bed, the time of first eating, length of hospital stay, negative emotions, compliance, self-management ability and postoperative complications. Results:The pain degree, the first activity time away from the bed, the first time to eat and the hospital stay were 1.9±0.5, (14.36±2.43) h, (21.39±3.08) h, (8.78±0.82) d in the observation group, and 3.5±1.1, (20.02±2.97) h, (27.14±3.96) h, (11.01±1.43) d in the control group. The difference was statistically significant ( t values were 5.369- 9.539, P<0.05). The negative emotions such as anxiety and depression in the observation group scored 41.4±2.3 and 39.9±2.0 after nursing. However, the control group scored 47.6±3.8 and 45.9±2.2 after nursing, respectively. The difference was statistically significant ( t values were 3.509, 3.519, P<0.05). The self-management abilities of patients in the observation group, including emotional cognition management, general life management, disease cognitive management and colostomy nursing management were 23.43±2.12, 24.04±0.96, 23.02±3.22, and 21.43±1.75, significantly higher than those in the control group (18.96±2.82,18.89±1.69, 17.95±2.61, 16.87±2.12). The difference was statistically significant ( t values were 17.712-18.879, P<0.05). The compliance of the observation group in nursing, rehabilitation and reexamination was 0.79±0.19, 0.98±0.23 and 0.87±0.35, significantly higher than those of the control group (1.02±0.26, 1.58±0.36, 1.46±0.43). The difference was statistically significant ( t values were 5.532, 5.221, 5.645, P < 0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group. The incidence of observation group was 8.33% (5/60), and the incidence of control group was 23.33% (14/60). The difference was statistically significant ( χ 2 values were 5.065, P<0.05). Conclusions:Timeliness incentive can obviously shorten the postoperative recovery time of colostomy patients in getting out of bed and capacity to eat, length of hospital stay. It can relieve the postoperative pain and the negative emotions, and also improve compliance and relieve self-management ability, and reduce the occurrence of postoperative complications.
