ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19 cases reported in Xianyang City from January to February 2020. Methods We retrospectively studied 17 COVID-19 patients diagnosed in Xianyang Central Hospital. The patients were characterized clinically and epidemiologically. Results The 17 patients included 10 male and 7 female, with an average age of(39.59±17.31)years. The median interval of time between onset and diagnosis was four days(1-10 days), whereas the median duration of COVID-19 was 16 days(3-23 days). Of the patients, six were mild, 10 were pneumonia, and one was severe. A total of 15 patients had fever as the onset, accompanied by fatigue, sore throat, sputum, vomit, muscle soreness; the other two patients were asymptomatic. There were no complications documented in all the patients. Patients had low levels of white blood cells and lymphocytes. Chest CT scan showed diverse diffuse ground-glass shadow. Eleven patients had travel history in Wuhan before the onset, four patients had contact with people who had travel history or residence history in Wuhan, and the other two patients did not report epidemiological exposure history. In addition, four of the 17 patients were clustered cases. Conclusion General population is susceptible to COVID-19. The majority of the confirmed cases have epidemiological exposure history. Routine examination, including white blood cell, lymphocyte count and CT scan may facilitate early diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

@#AIM: To understand the epidemic situation of retinopathy of prematurity in Sanya region and its related factors analysis so as to provide a reference for the prevention of the disease in this region.<p>METHODS: A total of 243 premature infants(486 eyes)with gestational age of less than 36 weeks and 35 cases of full moon(70 eyes)who were delivered in Sanya Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from January to December 2019 were selected as the research objects. Fundus screening was performed. And the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity was calculated according to the diagnostic criteria, and univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed on the related data of the mothers before and during pregnancy.<p>RESULTS: There was no retinopathy in the whole moon, but 36 cases of premature infants with retinopathy of prematurity. And the incidence of the disease was 14.8%(36/243). Among them, about half(58.3%)of the children with stage Ⅰ disease. Followed by stage Ⅱ disease(30.6%), stage Ⅲ disease(8.3%)and stage Ⅳ disease(2.8%), no stage Ⅴ disease were found. Meanwhile, 2 children with threshold lesions(5.6%). Except for the gestational age, there were no significant differences in the related factors of menstruation, gestational age, gestational births and pregnancy complications between full-term and normal preterm mothers(<i>P</i>>0.05), but compared with the mothers of premature infants, the differences were statistically significant(<i>P</i><0.05). The irregular menstruation, older pregnancy, gestational age short, polyembryony, eclampsia, PIH, diabetes and perinatal infection were independent risk factors for retinopathy of prematurity(<i>P</i><0.05).<p>CONCLUSION: The incidence of retinopathy of prematurity is high in Sanya, which should be paid great attention. At the same time, there are many influencing factors. It is an effective method to reduce retinopathy of prematurity in this area that menstrual conditioning before pregnancy, avoid advanced pregnancy, term birth, monocyesis and control pregnancy complications.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the mechanism of PE_PGRS60 protein in the pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. Methods:The cloned and purified PE_PGRS60 protein from Mycobacterium tuberculosis was used to stimulate RAW264.7 cells. The expression of cyclooxygenase 2(COX2) mRNA and protein was detected by qRT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. The signal pathways that may regulate the expression of COX2 were screened, and the expression of inflammatory cytokines induced by PE_PGRS60 was detected by ELISA. The level of cell death was measured by lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) release test and flow cytometry PI staining. Western blot was used to detect the expression of COX2 in Peripheral blood mononuclear cell(PBMC) from active tuberculosis patients. Results:PE_PGRS60 protein was found to promote the expression of COX2 in RAW264.7 cells and activate the three major members of the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) family: extracellular regulated protein kinase(ERK), p38 and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK). Interestingly, only JNK-IN-7, the inhibitor of JNK was observed to suppress the up-regulation expression of COX2 induced by PE_PGRS60. This up-regulated expression of COX2 was also found in PBMCs from active tuberculosis patients. The COX2 inhibitor celecoxib can effectively block the expression of the inflammatory factors IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-6 induced by PE_PGRS60 and promote macrophage death.Conclusions:PE_PGRS60 can promote macrophages to release inflammatory factors by activating JNK/COX2 signal axis. Some macrophages still die under the protection of COX2.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To establish a comet test method for detection of genotoxicity of three reference chemicals in rat liver cells. Methods:6-10 week old Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, with normal saline (0.9% NaCl solution) as negative control group. Animals in three test groups were treated, respectively, with ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) 200 mg/kg, N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU) 50 mg/kg, and D-mannitol 2 000 mg/kg. There were 10 animals in each group, 5 males and 5 females. The animals received two times (21 h interval) of test compounds through intragastric administration, and their clinical symptoms and body weight changes were recorded during the experiment. The rats were sacrificed 3 h after the last exposure. The liver was weighed, then used to prepare single-cell suspensions for the alkaline comet test which determines the average tail DNA content percentage (DNA%) of hepatocytes and other comet indicators. Results:(1) D-mannitol, EMS and MNU did not show significant toxicity in the whole animal. (2) The mean values of tail DNA content percentage (DNA%) of rat hepatocytes in EMS [(60.07±24.69)%] and MNU [(41.66±22.35)%] groups were higher than that in the negative control group [(2.32±1.39)%] and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The difference between D-mannitol group [(3.06±3.30)%] and the negative control group was not significant (P>0.05). Conclusion:This laboratory has established a comet test method using hepatocytes from treated rats. Among three testing chemicals, EMS and MNU have displayed genotoxicity by this assay, but no genotoxicity was observed in D-mannitol treated animals.

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the efficacy of CCLG-ALL-2008 protocol and the related factors of treatment failure in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).@*METHODS@#The clinical data of 400 children newly-diagnosed ALL in Children's Hospital of Soochow University from March 1, 2008 to December 31, 2012 was retrospectively analyzed. All the children accepted CCLG-ALL-2008 protocol, and were followed-up until October 2019. The dates of relapse, death and causes of death were recorded. Treatment failure was defined as relapse, non-relapse death, and secondary tumor.@*RESULTS@#Following-up for 10 years, there were 152 cases relapse or non-relapse death, the treatment failure rate was 38%, including 122 relapse (80.3%), 30 non-relapse deaths (19.7%) which included 7 cases (4 cases died of infection and 3 cases died of bleeding) died of treatment (23.3% of non-relapse deaths), 8 cases died of minimal residual disease (MRD) continuous positive (26.7% of non-relapse deaths) and 15 cases died of financial burden (50% of non-relapse deaths). According to the relapse stage, 37 cases (30%) in very early stage, 38 cases (31%) in early stage, and 47 cases (39%) in late stage, while according to the relapse site, 107 cases relapsed in bone marrow, 3 cases in testis, 3 cases in central nervous system (CNS), 5 cases in bone marrow plus testis and 4 cases in bone marrow plus CNS. Bone marrow relapse was the main cause of death in 89 cases, followed by nervous system. Initially diagnosed WBC count (≥50×10@*CONCLUSION@#Relapse is the main cause of treatment failure in children with ALL. The initially diagnosed WBC count, immunophenotype and MRD at week 12 were the independent prognostic factors for relapse of the patients. Financial burden accounts for a large proportion of non-relapse death.

ABSTRACT

To establish a quantitative analysis of multi-components by single marker(QAMS) method for five flavonoids in Rhododendron anthopogonoides and verify its feasibility and applicability in the medicinal materials of R. anthopogonoides. With hyperoside as the internal reference, relative correction factors(RCF) of rutin, quercetin, quercitrin and kaempferol were established by high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) analysis. RCFs were used to calculate the content of each component, system durability and relative retention time. Simultaneously, QAMS and external standard method(ESM) were used to determine the content of five flavonoids in 12 batches of R. anthopogonoides from different origins. The results were statistically analyzed to verify the accuracy and feasibility. The fingerprints and cluster analysis data of R. anthopogonoides analyzed and discussed differences among the batches. According to the results, the RCFs of rutin, quercetin, quercetin and kaempferol in R. anthopogonoides were 1.242 6, 0.990 5, 0.535 0, and 0.781 3, respectively. The RCFs represented a good reproducibility under different experimental conditions. Besides, there was no significant difference between QAMS and ESM. Besides, the fingerprint and cluster analysis data showed the consistency between the classification and with the origin distribution of the herbs. In conclusion, the QAMS method shows a good stability and accuracy in the quality control of R. anthopogonoides.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of pneumococcal antigen detection indiagnosis of pneumococcal meningitis in children. Methods: Purulent meningitis wasdiagnosed according to European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases(ESCMID) guideline between July 2014 and June 2016. Along with a cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) culture, pneumococcal antigen detection in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was performed,and further identification of pathogens was done with 16S rDNA-PCR and high-throughputsequencing. Results: CSF samples collected from 184 children (median age of 1.92 mo).CSF culture was used as the gold standard. 46 (25%) had positive results for culture and 10(5.4%) were pneumococci; 34 (18.5%) were pneumococcal antigen positive. The sensitivityand specificity of pneumococcal antigen detection were 100% (95% CI: 89.4%–100%) and86.2% (95% CI: 96.4%–99.9%), respectively. 92.3% (12/13) were confirmed by nucleic aciddetection to be pneumococci. Conclusions: Pneumococcal antigen detection in CSF hasadequate sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing pneumococcal meningitis.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To establish a characteristic spectrum to reflect the efficacy of Houpo Qiwutang. Method:Based on the correlation between the efficacy and the pharmacological action of each herb in prescription,the target substances of characteristic map were screened. The extraction solvent,detection wavelength and gradient of the active ingredients were optimized. Peak assignment was made by comparing individual drugs. Q-TOF was used to infer the molecular formula of each peak in the characteristic atlas,and the reference substance was identified by the reference substance. The reference substance was screened out according to the correlation of main efficacy and medicine. Result:The characteristic spectrum of material standard of Houpu Qiwutang was established. Five of the seven herbal medicines were attributed. Nine characteristic peaks were selected and identified by Q-TOF as glycyrrhizin,including naringin,neohesperidin,ammonium glycyrrhizinate,rhein,honokiol,magnolol. According to the main efficacy of Houpo Qiwutang,neohesperidin was selected as reference substances. According to the separation of characteristic peaks and the retention time,the mark peak of the characteristic spectrum was determined. Conclusion:The characteristic spectrum of the material basis of Houpo Qiwutang was established by selecting the characteristic peaks and controlling the key components. This method not only reflects the situation of all the effective chemical components,but also focuses on the control of the key efficacy,so as to provide a theoretical basis for the subsequent development and quality control of Houpu Qiwu Tang.

Objective: To analyze the differentially expressed genes and their key regulatory proteins in pancreatic cancer tissues and adjacent tissues so as to provide evidence for the prevention and treatment of pancreatic cancer. Methods: The cDNA microarrays of pancreatic cancer patients were downloaded from the GEO Database. The data were then imported into GCBI; network analyzer and Genclip software were used to analyze the expression of gene expression profiles, gene function, and protein interaction network. We screened the key node genes between the two groups. Results: There were significant differences in gene expression profiles between cancer tissues and adjacent tissues. Among the 28 869 genes analyzed, there were 4 447 (15.40%) differentially expressed genes between cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues. The first 250 differentially expressed genes interacted with each other. Network analysis found that five key proteins (SMURF1, MET, BCL2L1, RALA, ERBB4) were closely related to mainly protein binding and extracellular signal pathways. Conclusion: The gene expression profiles of cancer tissues and adjacent tissues are significantly different, suggesting that gene transcription profiles play a regulatory role in tumorigenesis. SMURF1 and MET genes have some ability to predict pancreatic cancer and may play a biological role because of the effects of protein binding and regulation of extracellular signal transduction.

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the protective effect of melatonin against myocardial ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury in isolated rat hearts and explore the underlying mechanisms.@*METHODS@#The isolated hearts from 40 male SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (=10): the control group, where the hearts were perfused with KH solution for 175 min; IR group, where the hearts were subjected to global ischemia for 45 min followed by reperfusion for 120 min; IR+melatonin (Mel+IR) group, where melatonin (5 μmol/L) was administered to the hearts 1 min before ischemia and during the first 5 min of reperfusion, followed by 115 min of reperfusion; and IR+2, 3-butanedione monoxime (IR+BDM) group, where the hearts were treated with BDM (20 mmol/L) in the same manner as melatonin treatment. Myocardial injury in the isolated hearts was assessed based on myocardial injury area, caspase-3 activity, and expressions of cytochrome C and cleaved caspase-3 proteins. Cardiac contracture was assessed using HE staining and by detecting lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity and the content of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in the coronary outflow, measurement of left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and electron microscopy. The content of ATP in the cardiac tissue was also determined.@*RESULTS@#Compared with those in the control group, the isolated hearts in IR group showed significantly larger myocardial injury area and higher caspase-3 activity and the protein expressions of cytochrome C and cleaved caspase-3 with significantly increased LDH activity and cTnI content in the coronary outflow and elevated LVEDP at the end of reperfusion; HE staining showed obvious fractures of the myocardial fibers and the content of ATP was significantly decreased in the cardiac tissue; electron microscopy revealed the development of contraction bands. In the isolated hearts with IR, treatment with Mel or BDM significantly reduced the myocardial injury area, caspase-3 activity, and protein expressions of cytochrome C and cleaved caspase-3, obviously inhibited LDH activity, lowered the content of cTnI and LVEDP, reduced myocardial fiber fracture, and increased ATP content in the cardiac tissue. Both Mel and BDM inhibited the formation of contraction bands in the isolated hearts with IR injury.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Mel can alleviate myocardial IR injury in isolated rat hearts by inhibiting cardiac contracture, the mechanism of which may involve the upregulation of ATP in the cardiac myocytes to lessen the tear of membrane and reduce cell content leakage.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To study the effect of dhfr gene overexpression on ethanol-induced abnormal cardiac and vascular development in zebrafish embryos and underlying mechanisms.@*METHODS@#dhfr mRNA was transcribed in vitro and microinjected into zebrafish fertilized eggs to induce the overexpression of dhfr gene, and the efficiency of overexpression was verified. Wild-type zebrafish were divided into a control group, an ethanol group, and an ethanol+dhfr overexpression group (microinjection of 6 nL dhfr mRNA). The embryonic development was observed for each group. The transgenic zebrafish Tg (cmlc2:mcherry) with heart-specific red fluorescence was used to observe atrial and ventricular development. Fluorescence microscopy was performed to observe the development of cardiac outflow tract and blood vessels. Heart rate and ventricular shortening fraction were used to assess cardiac function. Gene probes were constructed, and embryo in situ hybridization and real-time PCR were used to measure the expression of nkx2.5, tbx1, and flk-1 in the embryo.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the ethanol group, the ethanol+dhfr overexpression group had a significant reduction in the percentage of abnormal embryonic development and a significant increase in the percentage of embryonic survival (P<0.05), with significant improvements in the abnormalities of the atrium, ventricle, outflow tract, and blood vessels and cardiac function. Compared with the control group, the ethanol group had significant reductions in the expression of nkx2.5, tbx1, and flk-1 (P<0.05), and compared with the ethanol group, the ethanol+dhfr overexpression group had significant increases in the expression of nkx2.5, tbx1, and flk-1 (P<0.05), which were still lower than their expression in the control group.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The overexpression of the dhfr gene can partially improve the abnormal development of embryonic heart and blood vessels induced by ethanol, possibly by upregulating the decreased expression of nkx2.5, tbx1, and flk-1 caused by ethanol.

ABSTRACT

Osteoporosis fracture with high disability and mortality is a difficult problem that seriously affects the life quality of individuals. At present, there is still a lack of anti-osteoporosis drugs with clear target and significant efficacy in the clinical practice. Rehmanniae Radix and its prescriptions have significant clinical effects. In this regard, more and more studies have reported the effects and mechanisms of Rehmanniae Radix and its active components, and the certain research outputs have been achieved. In this article, the PubMed, Web of science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang database were searched to collect and organize the latest research progress of Rehmanniae Radix treatment of osteoporosis in the recent 10 years. We summarized the research dynamics as well as the function indexes and mechanisms of the raw and processed Rehmanniae Radix, active ingredients such as catalpol, aucubin, acteoside and Rehmanniae Radix polysaccharide, and their formulating prescriptions, and then excavated the potential active ingredients, targets and signaling pathways, including the effect on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, promoting the osteoblast proliferation and promoting osteogenesis differentiation(increasing alkaline phosphatase, typeⅠ collagen, osteoprotegerin, and osteocalcin and promoting calcium deposits), increasing the bone density, inhibiting the osteoclast quantity and differentiation, promoting the osteoclast apoptosis, and reducing tartrate resistant acid phosphatase and bone resorption pit area to provide the reference and develop new ideas for developing Rehmanniae Radix prescriptions for treatment of osteoporosis and exploring its mechanism.

OBJECTIVE@#To explore whether the high risk factors possibly leading to hypercoagulative status and thrombosis exist in Thalassemia patients of Guangxi region through detecting plasma tissne factor-bearing microparticles (TFMP), procoagulatima activity, coagulation and anticoagulation function, fibrinolytic function, endothelial function and platelet count.@*METHODS@#The TFMP procoagulation activity was detected by chromogenic saubstract method, the levels of tissue factors (TF), tissue factor pathway inhibitor(TFPI), protein C (PC), protein S (PS), antithrombin Ⅲ(AT-Ⅲ), tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), thrombin-activated fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI), soluble E-selectin (sE-sel), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and thrombomodulin (TM) were detected by ELISA in thalassemia group (n=71) and control group (n=20 heathy persons).@*RESULTS@#Compared with control group, the AT-Ⅲ level decreased in β-thalastemia major group (TM) (P<0.05), the AT-Ⅲ level in TM group independeutly posstiody correlated with plt count (r=0.37, P<0.05); the levels of TF and sICAM in α-thalassenia intermediate group (TA) significantly decteased (P<0.05), the procoagulatim activity of TFMP in β-thalassemia intermediate group (TI) increased sngnificantly (P<0.05), moreover positively corretated with AT-Ⅲ level (r=0.77, P<0.05). The TF and sICAM-1 levels in normal liver functim group of Thalassemia patients were lower tham those in control group (P<0.01 and P<0.05, respectively), the TFMP activity between normal and abnormal liver function was significantly different (P<0.05), while there were no significant difference in other correspoding indexes beween thalassemia group and control group as well as between each thalassemia groups.@*CONCLUSION@#The damage of liver function and reduction of anticoagylation substances exist in patients with β-thalassenia major in Guangxi region, the procoagulation activity of plasma TFMP in patients with β-thalassemia intermedia abnormally increases. All the above-mentioned factors may increase the risk of high coagulation status or thrombosis is thalassemia patients, the decrease of TF and SICAM-1 levels in patients with α-thalassemia intermedia may be factor against thrombosis.

ABSTRACT

@#【Objective】To investigate the expression and clinical significance of programmed death- 1(PD- 1),programmed death-ligand 1(PD-L1)and CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ regulatory T cells(Treg)and CD4+/CD8+ ratios in JAK2V617F mutation positive myeloroliferative neoplasms patients(MPN).【Methods】45 cases of JAK2 V617F positive MPN patients were selected including 17 cases of essential thrombocythemia(ET),13 cases of polycythemia vera(PV)and 15 cases of primary myelofibrosis(ET). 30 cases of the newly diagnosed group and 15 cases of treatment group were from them. 15 cases of healthy volunteers were selected as control group. The ratio of mutant and wild type of JAK2 was detected by fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction(FQ-PCR). The expression levels of p-JAK2,PD-1 and PD- L1 in pathological tissues of bone marrow were detected by immunohistochemistry. The changes of treg cells and lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of MPN patients and controls were detected by flow cytometry. 【Results】 The expression levels of p-JAK2,PD-1,PD-L1,and Treg in the newly diagnosed group were significantly higher than that of treatment group and control group(P<0.05),while the expression levels of CD4 +/CD8 + ratio were significantly lower than treatment group and control group(P<0.05). JAK2 V617F mutation burden was positive correlation with PD-1 and PD- L1,and was negative correlation with CD4 +/CD8 + ,the correlation coefficients were r=0.593,P<0.01;r=0.723,P<0.01;r=-0.771,P<0.01,respectively.【Conclusion】p-JAK2,PD-1,PD-L1,Treg,CD4+/CD8+ and JAK2 V617F were involved in the pathogenesis of myeloroliferative neoplasms.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the biological network regulation and key proteins of gene expression microarray in human normal prostate epithelial cells after treated with low-dose cadmium, and provide some new theoretical evidence for the pathogenesis of cadmium-related prostate cancer.@*METHODS@#We downloaded 19 copies of gene chip data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), involving 9 samples of prostate epithelial cells exposed to low-dose cadmium and 10 cases of normal control. Using the Gene-Cloud of Biotechnology Informs platform, GenClip2.0 and Sytoscape 3.5.1, we screened differentially expressed genes, explored their protein interaction networks and biological pathways and, from the perspective of transcriptome, analyzed the changes in the genetic network of normal human prostate epithelial cells and their possible molecular biological functions after low-dose cadmium treatment.@*RESULTS@#Totally, 1 050 (1.92%) differentially expressed genes were found in the prostate epithelial cells treated with low-dose cadmium, involved in such biological functions as the cell physiological process, MAPK regulation, regulation of intracellular signal transduction, and immunological effect. The HSP90AB1, BUB3 and PRKAR1A genes were the core nodes of the protein network, which showed statistically significant differences in their expressions and a correlation with the malignant transformation of normal cells.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Low-dose cadmium can cause genetic changes in normal human prostate epithelial cells and the differentially expressed genes are mainly involved in such biological functions as the cell physiological process, MAPK regulation, regulation of intracellular signal transduction, and immunological effect.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to introduce the experience in treatment of acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI), saphenous vein graft(SVG), Chronic total occlusion(CTO),In-stent restenosis(ISR)and diffuse calcification lesions by excimer laser coronary atherectomy(ELCA). METHODS: Twenty-two patients were enrolled through our center from November 2016 to May 2017 and ELCA was performed on 22 lesions.The clinical and procedure endpoints were recorded. RESULTS: All the lesions were successfully crossed with laser catheterand and finally were performed by ELCA. Five cases(22.7%)with STEMI, ten cases(45.5%) with SVG lesions,five cases with ISR and other cases were CTO(4.5%) and Calcification(4.5%) lesions.Seventeen patients underwent balloon dilatation and successful implantation of drug-eluting stents(DES) and one patients was treated with drug-eluting balloon(DEB).the procedual and clinical success rates were 100%. At 6.6±2.7 months follow-up, there were no major adverse cardiac events(MACEs) and ELCA relatedcomplications recorded. Conclution This limited evdiences showed that treatment of complex coronary lesions by excimer laser coronary atherectomy may be a Safe and effective choice.It can be further popularized in complex coronary artery disease.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the influence of heat and noise exposure on the risk of hypertension in workers,and to provide evidence for prevention of hypertension in occupational population.@*Methods@#Cluster sampling method was used to recruit 2 130 steel workers from four factories(north iron-making,long steel,cold steel and power department)of some steel company. A cross-sectional study was conducted to collect physical examination results,heat and noise exposure. Logistic regression models were used to analyze the effects of noise,heat and their interaction on hypertension. @*Results@#Totally 1 971 valid questionnaires were collected,and the response rate was 92.54%. There were 654 workers suffering from hypertension,with a prevalence rate of 33.18%. There were 1 006 workers exposed to noise,accounting for 51.04%;and 853 workers exposed to heat,accounting for 43.28%. The prevalence rates of hypertension in workers exposed to noise and heat were higher than those in workers without the above exposure(P<0.05). The prevalence rates of hypertension increased with the increase of age and working years(P<0.05). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that noise(OR=1.711,95%CI:1.380-2.121),heat(OR=1.721,95%CI:1.394-2.125)were risk factors for hypertension;the interaction between noise and heat on hypertension was not statistically significant(P>0.05),while the interaction between noise and age(OR=1.086,95%CI:1.057-1.115),between heat and age(OR=1.087,95%CI:1.059-1.115)both increased the risk of hypertension.@*Conclusion@#Occupational exposure to heat and noise are risk factors for hypertension. These two occupational hazards also interact with age,which can increase the risk of hypertension in workers.

ABSTRACT

Objective:By applying moxibustion to the eight confluent points in different periods of time,to observe the changes in thermal pain threshold latency of acupoints based on Fei Teng Ba Fa.Methods:A total of 468 healthy college student volunteers received moxibustion at the eight confluent points in three different periods of time,i.e.Chen (7:00-9:00),Wu (11:00-13:00) and Xu (19:00-21:00).The thermal pain threshold latency was adopted to measure the changes in pain threshold of the eight confluent points under different conditions (different periods of time,different genders,different acupoints and different states of the acupoints) based on Fei Teng Ba Fa.Results:Finally,thirty subjects dropped out and 438 subjects were included.The comparison of thermal pain threshold latencies of the eight confluent points in the same opening or closing state based on Fei Teng Ba Fa:latencies of the closing points and adjunct points were significantly different in different periods of time (P<0.05);the latencies of the males were significantly longer than those of the females (P<0.05);there was no significant difference in the latency between the left and right sides (P>0.05);in the female group,there was a significant difference in the latency between the lower-limb points and the upper-limb points (P<0.05).The comparison of thermal point threshold latencies of the eight confluent points in different opening or closing state:in the period of Wu (11:00-13:00),the latencies of the opening points were significantly longer than those of the closing points and adjunct points (P<0.05);for men,their opening and closing points had significantly longer thermal pain threshold latencies than their adjunct points (P<0.05);despite the gender,the latencies of the upper limb opening and closing points were significantly longer than the latency of the adjunct points (P<0.05);in the female group,the latencies of the lower-limb opening points were significantly shorter than those of the lower-limb closing and adjunct points (P<0.05).Conclusion:Based on Fei Teng Ba Fa,the pain thresholds of the eight confluent points vary in different periods of time,gender,acupoint location and opening/closing state,which can be taken as the evidence of making time-based acupuncture-moxibustion prescriptions.

ABSTRACT

Retinal degeneration mainly include age-related macular degeneration,retinitispigmentosa and Stargardt's disease.Although its expression is slightly different,its pathogenesis is photoreceptor cells and/or retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cel 1 damage or degeneration.Because of the 1 ack of self-repairing and renewal of retinal photoreceptor cells and RPE cells,cell replacement therapy is one of the most effective methods for treating such diseases.The stem cells currently used for the treatment of retinal degeneration include embryonicstem cells (ESC) and various adult stem cells,such as retinal stem cells (RSC),induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC).and mesenchymal stem cells (MSC).Understanding the currentbasic and clinical application progress ofESC,iPSC,RSC,MSC can provide a new idea for the treatment of retinal degeneration.
