ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the effect of inhibiting polyribonucleotide nucleotidyl-transferase 1 (PNPT1) on oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)-induced apoptosis of mouse atrial myocytes.@*METHODS@#Cultured mouse atrial myocytes (HL-1 cells) with or without OGD were transfected with PNPT1-siRNA or a negative control siRNA (NC-siRNA group), and the cell survival rate was detected using CCK-8 assay. The expression levels of ACTB and TUBA mRNA were detected with qPCR, and the protein expression of PNPT1 was detected with Western blotting. The apoptosis rate of the treated cells was determined with flow cytometry, the mitochondrial membrane potential was detected using JC-1 kit, and the mitochondrial morphology was observed using transmission electron microscope.@*RESULTS@#With the extension of OGD time, the protein expression levels of PNPT1 increased progressively in the cytoplasm of HL-1 cells (P < 0.05). Transfection with PNPT1-siRNA significantly reduced PNPT1 expression in HL-1 cells (P < 0.05). Exposure to OGD significantly enhanced degradation of ACTB and TUBA mRNA (P < 0.05) and markedly increased the apoptosis rate of HL-1 cells (P < 0.05), and these changes were significantly inhibited by transfection with PNPT1-siRNA (P < 0.05), which obviously increased mitochondrial membrane potential and improved mitochondrial morphology of HL-1 cells exposed to OGD.@*CONCLUSION@#Inhibition of PNPT1 improves mitochondrial damage and reduces degradation of apoptotic-associated mRNAs to alleviate OGD-induced apoptosis of mouse atrial myocyte.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To quantify the lacrimal punctum using anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT)and analyze the correlation between the epiphora and primary punctal stenosis.METHODS: A cross-sectional study. There were 43 healthy volunteers(57 eyes)and 44 patients(62 eyes)with primary lacrimal punctal stenosis and epiphora enrolled in the Lacrimal Center of the Third Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from September 2020 to January 2021. The inferior punctum of all subjects were scanned by AS-OCT, and the images were quantified in order to observe the AS-OCT image features. The outer punctal diameter, punctal depth, tear well diameter and tear well depth were all measured simultaneously. The inferior punctum's punctal reserve and punctal reserve ratio were estimated according to the available parameter data.RESULTS: 1)The measured parameters conforming to normal distribution were expressed as mean±standard deviation. The observation group's outer punctal diameter, tear well diameter, tear well depth, and punctal reserve ratio were 458.19±63.58μm, 200.34±84.69μm, 188.95±87.50μm and 0.32±0.18, respectively, while the control group's outer punctal diameter, tear well diameter, tear well depth and punctal reserve ratio were 655.53±82.62μm, 230.26±107.02μm, 275.30±144.34μm, 0.46±0.23, respectively. The parameters in observation group were all lower than those of control group(P<0.05); 2)Parameter data that did not conform to normal distribution were expressed as medians and quartiles, and the results were as follows: the punctal depth in the observation group was 265.50μm(interquartile range 204.25-328.77)μm and the punctal reserve was 71.53μm(interquartile range 46.12-111.37)μm, respectively, while the punctal depth in the control group was 468.76μm(interquartile range 420.50-588.88)μm and the punctal reserve was 182.16μm(interquartile range 131.36-309.84)μm. This difference was statistically significant(P<0.05); 3)In the observation group, there was a negative correlation between the epiphora and the outer punctal diameter(r=-0.448, P<0.05), a positive correlation between the epiphora and tear well depth(r=0.335, P<0.05), and a negative correlation between the epiphora and the punctal reserve and punctal reserve ratio coefficient(r=-0.520, -0.566, P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The AS-OCT can aid in enhancing punctal morphology cognition; The outer punctal diameter and tear well depth are related to the epiphora; The primary punctal stenosis patients with smaller outer punctal diameters are more likely to have the symptom of epiphora, and in patients with punctal stenosis, the greater the potential capacity of the punctum to hold tears, the lesser the degree of epiphora.

ABSTRACT

By referring to the materials of ancient materia medica, prescriptions and medical books, combining with modern literature, this paper made textual research on the name, origin, producing area, quality evaluation, harvesting and processing methods of Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix in famous classical formulas, so as to provide a basis for the selection and use of Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix in the development of famous classical formulas. Through textual research, it can be seen that Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix is the correct name in all dynasties, but it still has many aliases. The main strain of Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix was Ligusticum sinense and L. jeholense, in addition, there are also L. tenuissimum, Sinodielsia yunnanensis, and Conioselinum vaginatum, L. sinense var. hupehense used in different regions. Since modern times, the textual examination of its scientific name is more complicated. Different foreign scholars have given many scientific names from their local observation, but most of them do not match the actual situation of Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix in ancient China. It is probably because they did not collect the original plants of Chinese Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix and conduct accurate identification. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the L. sinense and L. jeholense was identified as the original plants through systematic investigation and arrangement of Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix. Since modern times, L. sinense is distributed in the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River and the south of the region, a small amount of production in Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi. L. jeholense is distributed in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and the north of the region, mostly produced in Liaoning and Hebei. The ancient harvesting period of Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix was concentrated in January and February according to the lunar calendar with thick roots, dry, fragrant, heavy quality as the best. But now the collection of roots and rhizome more than concentrated in spring before seedling emergence and autumn when leaves were gone, and take the large, dry, yellow, strong, fragrant, less roots, residual short as the best. In the past dynasties, raw products were the main processing methods, and there were also roasting, grinding and so on. Based on the research results, it is suggested that the raw roots and rhizomes of L. sinense and L. jeholense should be used in the development of famous classical formulas.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the relationship between obesity status and death stratified by different multi-morbidity status in older adults in China. Methods: Data for older Chinese adults aged ≥65 years were from Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS). Multi-morbidity patterns based on 13 chronic conditions were explored using exploratory factor analysis. Cox models were used to examine relationships between obesity status and death stratified by disease count and multi-morbidity patterns at baseline, respectively. Besides, obesity status was defined by baseline body mass index and waist circumference. Results: A total of 6 272 participants were included in the analyses. Multi-morbidity including cardio-metabolic, sensory perception and other patterns were identified. For those without any chronic condition, compared with those without central obesity, central obesity was associated with a higher risk for death (HR=1.66, 95%CI:1.04-2.66). For those only with one chronic condition, compared with normal weight, underweight was associated with a higher risk for death (HR=1.41, 95%CI: 1.10-1.80). For those with multi-morbidity, compared with normal weight, underweight increased the risk for death (HR=1.19, 95%CI:1.05-1.34). Compared with those without central obesity, central obesity decreased the risk for death (HR=0.88, 95%CI:0.78-0.99). Conclusions: Relationships between obesity status and death varied by multi-morbidity status in older adults in China. Underweight and non-central obesity were associated with increased risks for death in older adults with only one chronic disease or multi-morbidity. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to multi-morbidity status in the management of obesity in older adults and provide effective targeted body weight management plan.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the level of arsenic exposure in rural drinking water and to assess the health risk caused by exposure to arsenic in Tongzhou District, Beijing Municipality in 2019, so as to provide insights into improving the quality of rural drinking water.@*Methods@#Water samples were collected from self-provided wells in 196 villages of 7 townships in Tongzhou District from April to June, 2019, and the arsenic levels were measured in drinking water according to Standard examination methods for drinking water-Metal parameters (GB/T 5750.6-2006). The carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks of arsenic were evaluated in drinking water using the environmental risk assessment model recommended by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).@*Results@#Totally 520 water samples were collected, and the median arsenic concentration was 0.001 2-0.050 0 mg/L. There were 67 water samples with arsenic levels exceeding the defined standard level (12.88%), and the proportions of arsenic levels exceeding the defined standard level were 57.69%, 17.24%, 12.20%, 6.52% and 1.31% in Songzhuang, Huoxian, Lucheng, Zhangjiawan and Yongdedian townships, and the arsenic levels did not exceed the defined standard level in Majuqiao or Taihu townships. The carcinogenic risk of arsenic was 3.135 7×10-4/a in drinking water, which exceeded the maximum acceptable risk, and the carcinogenic risk of arsenic all exceeded the maximum acceptable risk, with the highest value seen in Songzhuang Township (9.648 2×10-4/a). A high carcinogenic risk of arsenic was seen in men at ages of 60 to 80 years (3.012 8×10-4/a) and in women at ages of 80 years and older (2.949 0×10-4/a). The non-carcinogenic risk of arsenic was 0.696 8 in drinking water, indicating a low risk, and were 1.009 5 and 2.144 1 in Huoxian and Songzhuang townships, indicating a high risk. In addition, a high non-carcinogenic risk of arsenic was seen in men at ages of 60 to 80 years (0.669 5) and in women at ages of 80 years and older (0.655 3).@*Conclusion@#There was a high proportion of arsenic levels exceeding the defined standard level in rural drinking water in Tongzhou District, 2019, and there was a health risk, notably with the highest carcinogenic risk seen in residents at ages of 60 years and older. Effective interventions are needed to reduce arsenic levels in drinking water.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the effects of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after curative hepatectomy. Methods:From November 2009 to June 2011, the clinicopathological and survival data of HCC patients who underwent radical resection at Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital of Naval Medical University were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into T2DM group and non-T2DM group. Clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of two groups were compared. Chi square test or Fisher exact test were used for statistical analysis. Kaplan-Meier test was used for univariate survival analysis, and Cox proportional hazard regression model was used for multivariate survival analysis. Results:A total of 1 691 patients with HCC were enrolled in this study. Among them, 142 patients (8.4%) were complicated with T2DM. The proportion of patients with onset age≥65 years old, the proportion of men, the proportion of patients with hypertension and γ-glutamyltranspeptidase >61 U/L in the T2DM group were higher than those in non-T2DM group (24.6%, 35/142 vs. 10.4%, 161/1 549; 92.3%, 131/142 vs. 85.7%, 1 327/1 549; 43.7%, 62/142 vs. 12.3%, 191/1 549; 58.5%, 83/142 vs. 49.4%, 765/1 549), while the proportion of patients with chronic hepatitis virus infection and α-fetoprotein >20 μg/L in the T2DM group were both lower than those in non-T2DM group (76.1%, 108/142 vs. 92.0%, 1 425/1 549; 47.2%, 67/142 vs. 59.9%, 928/1 549), and the differences were all statistically significant ( χ2=25.79, 4.75, 100.36, 4.28, 39.01 and 8.66, all P<0.05). The results of univariate survival analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the postoperative overall survival (OS) rate between T2DM group and non-T2DM group ( χ2=3.02, P=0.082). The results of further subgroup analysis showed that among HCC patients with TNM stage Ⅰ, there was statistically significant difference in the OS rate between T2DM group and non-T2DM group ( χ2=4.53, P=0.033). The OS rates at 1 year, 3 years and 5 years after curative resection of HCC patients in T2DM group were lower than those of patients in non-T2DM group (96.0%, 48/50 vs. 97.6%, 558/572; 78.0%, 39/50 vs. 88.6%, 507/572; 68.0%, 34/50 vs. 79.5%, 455/572). The results of multivariate Cox regression survival analysis demonstrated that T2DM was an independent risk factor for postoperative survival in patients with TNM stage Ⅰ HCC (odds ratio=1.663, 95% confidence interval 1.045 to 2.648, P=0.032). Conclusions:The effect of T2DM on prognosis of patients after radical resection of HCC is associated with TNM stage, and its effect may be limited on the early stage of HCC.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the potential molecular mechanisms of liver cancer cell-derived secretory autophagosomes, extracellular vesicles expressing LC3B (LC3B + EVs), in promoting the exhaustion of CD8 + T cells. Methods:The proportions of LC3B + EVs and PD-1 + CD8 + T cells in peripheral blood and ascites of liver cancer patients were measured by flow cytometry. Spearman correlation test was used to analyze the correlation between the proportions of LC3B + EVs and PD-1 + CD8 + T cells. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from healthy donors were treated with LC3B + EVs or heat shock protein 90α (HSP90α) blocking antibody-pretreated LC3B + EVs for 72 h in the presence of αCD3/CD28 antibodies and IL-2 in vitro. The proportions of PD-1 + CD8 + T and IFN-γ + CD8 + T cells and the concentrations of IL-2, TNF-α and IFN-γ in the supernatants were all detected by flow cytometry. Results:The proportions of LC3B + EVs and HSP90α + LC3B + EVs in plasma and ascites from liver cancer patients were significantly higher than those in healthy control group and non-cancerous ascites group. The level of plasma LC3B + EVs, especially HSP90α + LC3B + EVs, was significantly correlated with the percentage of exhausted PD-1 + CD8 + T cells. In addition, LC3B + EVs from human liver cancer cells up-regulated the percentage of exhausted CD8 + T cells in vitro. However, LC3B + EVs pretreated with HSP90α blocking antibody could significantly inhibit LC3B + EVs-induced CD8 + T cell exhaustion. Conclusions:Liver cancer cell-derived LC3B + EVs could effectively induce CD8 + T cell exhaustion mainly through the membrane-bound HSP90α.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the trend of maternal mortality ratio (MMR) and death causes in Tianjin from 2011 to 2020 and to guide the management of maternal health. Methods:All the reviews data of 89 maternal death cases in Tianjin from 2011 to 2020 were retrospectively collected to analyze the trend of MMR, rank order of death causes, and death review results using Chi-square test. Results:(1) The average MMR in Tianjin was 7.97/100 000 during the study period, showing an overall fluctuating decline. The highest MMR was 12.61/100 000 in 2014 and the lowest was 3.85/100 000 in 2019. (2) Among the dead pregnant women and parturients, non-registered residents had higher proportion of women with advanced age, no steady occupation/unemployment, below junior college education, multipara, or without maternal health manual compared with the registered residents [33.33% (8/24) vs 20.00% (13/65), χ2=46.18; 100.00%(24/24) vs 69.23%(45/65), χ2=9.53; 87.50% (21/24) vs 64.62% (42/65), χ2=4.44; 79.17% (19/24) vs 44.62% (29/65), χ2=8.42; 75.00%(18/24) vs 13.85% (9/65), χ2=31.02; all P<0.05]. (3) Direct obstetric factors and indirect factors that caused death were accounted for 57.30% (51/89) and 42.70% (38/89). The top five death causes were postpartum hemorrhage, hypertensive disease during pregnancy, sudden death, venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, and amniotic fluid embolism. (4) In terms of the maternal death review results, 39.33% (35/89) of maternal deaths were avoidable, among which 94.29% (33/35) were caused by direct obstetric factors and 5.71% (2/35) were indirect. (5) The main influencing factors of avoidable death causes were knowledge and skills inadequacy in the health care system (62.86%, 22/35), of which 86.36% (19/22) happened in health facilities at and below the district/county level. Conclusion:It is suggested to strengthen the medical care of health facilities at and below the district/county level and the maternal health management of the non-permanent residents to ensure maternal and infant safety and to further reduce the MMR.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of venetoclax (VEN) combined with azacitidine (AZA) versus CAG regimen combined with decitabine (DAC) in elderly patients with relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML).Methods:From January 2018 to August 2020, the clinical data of forty-five elderly patients with relapse AML at the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University were retrospectively analyzed, including 31 males and 14 females. The median age was 66 (60-80) years old. Eighteen patients were administrated with VEN and AZA, while the other 27 were in CAG with DAC. The complete remission (CR) rate, partial remission (PR) rate, total remission rate (ORR), adverse events and overall survival (OS) were compared between the two groups. Results:At the end of the treatment, the ORR in VEN with AZA group was 77.8% (14/18); including 11 CR and 3 PR. In CAG with DAC group, the ORR was 37.0% (10/27); including 8 CR and 2 PR ( P=0.007). Subgroup analysis suggested that VEN with AZA had a higher ORR in patients stratified as intermediate and poor-risk ( P=0.013) or with DNA methylation mutations ( P=0.007). Main adverse events in both groups were bone marrow suppression, infections, nausea and vomiting, anorexia and fatigue. Grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ cytopenia developed in lower incidence of VEN with AZA group, such as leukopenia (66.7% vs. 100%, P=0.002), anemia (50.0% vs. 92.6%, P=0.002), thrombocytopenia (72.2% vs. 96.3%, P=0.031) and neutropenia (61.1% vs. 92.6%, P=0.014). In addition, less grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ infections occurred in VEN with AZA group (66.7% vs. 33.3%, P=0.028), as well as grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ gastrointestinal events (40.7% vs. 11.1%, P=0.032), grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ fatigue (55.6% vs.11.1%, P=0.003) compared with CAG with DAC group. The 1-year OS in VEN with AZA group versus CAG with DAC group was 42.9% and 31.6% respectively ( P=0.150). Conclusion:VEN combined with AZA proves favorable efficacy and tolerablity in elderly patients with relapsed AML.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the relationship between gait speed or grip strength and all-cause mortality in elderly inpatients over 75 years old, and to compare their predictive value for all-cause mortality. Methods:A prospective cohort study was conducted and enrolled elderly patients aged ≥75 years hospitalized from December 2016 to December 2019 at the Department of Integrated Medicine and Geriatrics, Fuxing Hospital, Capital Medical University.Gait speed(m/s)and grip strength(kg)were respectively measured via the 6-meter walk test and a dynamometer. The patients were followed up for more than 1 year after discharge, and the time of all-cause mortality was recorded. The Cox regression model was used to analyze the correlation between gait speed, grip strength or their combination and the risk of all-cause mortality.ROC curves were statistically analyzed using the DeLong test. Results:A total of 704 patients were enrolled, with an average age of(83.8±6.3)years; the median follow-up time was 33(24, 42)months.During the follow-up period, all-cause death occurred in 131 cases(18.6%).Compared with the high gait speed and high grip strength groups, the low gait speed and low grip strength groups had higher all-cause mortality(all P<0.05).The Cox regression model was used to analyze the relationships between gait speed, grip strength and all-cause mortality. The results showed that gait speed( HR=2.255, 95% CI: 1.462-3.477, P<0.001)and grip strength( HR=1.815, 95% CI: 1.232-2.673, P<0.001)were associated with the risk of all-cause mortality after adjustment for other factors; When gait speed slowed down and grip strength decreased, the risk of death reached the highest level( HR=3.156, 95% CI: 1.829-5.445, P<0.001).The AUC of the gait speed model(0.703, 95% CI: 0.667-0.736)was higher than the AUC of the grip strength model(0.648, 95% CI: 0.611-0.683), with a difference of 0.055(95% CI: 0.006-0.103, P=0.026). Conclusions:Decreased gait speed or grip strength is related to an increase of death risk. The risk of death is highest when the patient has both slowed gait speed and decreased grip strength. The predictive value of gait speed for death is better than grip strength.Together they can be used as simple, rapid and effective tools to predict all-cause mortality in this population.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the core elements′ index design of physical examination reports and pilot data. Methods:We searched and analyzed the core element indexes of the physical examination report in databases such as CNKI and Wanfang through the literature analysis method, forming the initial core element indicator set. Special working meetings were organized to discuss revisions and improvements. The core elements′ index set was formed using a mixed research method combined with the quantitative analysis results of pilot data and expert opinions. Six hundred and thirteen cases from five hospitals were included in this study, including Anzhen Hospital, Peking University Third Hospital, Beijing Physical Examination Center, Beijing Tongren Hospital, China-Japan friendship hospital. Results:The subjects were (49.5±17.6) years old, including 302 males (49.3%) and 311 females (50.7%). The physical examination conclusion indicates that the number of health problems is between five and eight, with no significant difference between men and women. The health history data analysis of different sexes showed that hypertension in men was significantly higher than in women (17.9% vs. 10.6%, P=0.010). The lifestyle and eating habits survey showed that men had significantly higher incidences of smoking and drinking than women (24.8% vs. 2.2%, P?0.001; 9.9% vs. 1.3%, P?0.001). The exercise habits and sleep survey showed that the proportion of men who did not exercise was lower than that of women (13.2% vs. 22.8%, P=0.022). There was no statistically significant difference in sleep duration between the sexes. Conclusions:The core elements of health examination reports can standardize the collection of physical examination data and improve its sharing and application. This can allow the reports to better assist the decisions based upon physical examination report data.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare the efficacy and side effects of multi-fraction stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) and single-fraction stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) in the treatment of brain metastases from colorectal cancer. Methods:A total of 98 patients with brain metastases from colorectal cancer searched from the database of Professional Committee of Brain Metastasis of Shanghai Anticancer Association were recruited in this study. Among them, 46 patients weretreated with SRT and 52 patients with SRS. Clinical characteristics of all patients were analyzed between two groups and the local tumor control rate, median survival time and the incidence of radiation-induced brain injury were compared between two groups. Results:The objective remission rates (ORR) in the SRT and SRS groups were 76.1% and 67.3%, respectively. The 12-month local tumor control rates were 88.3% and 83.9% between two groups, with no statistical difference ( P=0.689). The median overall survival time of all patients was 11.6 months, 10.8 months in the SRT group and 12.7 months in the SRS group. There was no statistical difference between two groups ( P=0.129). Multivariate analysis showed that the main factors leading to poor prognosis included the number of tumors of >3( P=0.026), low GPA score ( P=0.035), and lack of systematic treatment mode and bevacizumab ( P=0.001). There was no statistical difference in the incidence of acute and late radiation-induced brain injury between two groups. Conclusions:Both SRT and SRS are effective therapies for brain metastases from colorectal cancer. The synergistic application of systematic treatment mode may be one of the main reasons affecting the survival time of the patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective:Due to the low contrast between tumors and surrounding tissues in CBCT images, this study was designed to propose an automatic segmentation method for central lung cancer in CBCT images. Methods:There are 221 patients with central lung cancer were recruited. Among them, 176 patients underwent CT localization and 45 patients underwent enhanced CT localization. The enhanced CT images were set as the lung window and mediastinal window, and elastic registration was performed with the first CBCT validation images to obtain the paired data set. The CBCT images could be transformed into" enhanced CT" under the lung window and mediastinal window by loading the paired data sets into cycleGAN network for style transformation. Finally, the transformed images were loaded into the UNET-attention network for deep learning of GTV. The results of segmentation were evaluated by Dice similarity coefficient (DSC), Hausdorff distance (HD) and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC).Results:The contrast between tumors and surrounding tissues was significantly improved after style transformation. The DSC value of cycleGAN+ UNET-attention network was 0.78±0.05, HD value was 9.22±3.42 and AUC value was 0.864, respectively. Conclusion:The cycleGAN+ UNET-attention network can effectively segment central lung cancer in CBCT images.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the parenting characteristics of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and conduct problems. Methods:This was a cross-sectional study involving 84 ADHD children with conduct problems and 75 ADHD children without conduct problems treated in the Outpatient Department of Children′s Health and Mental Health Center, Shenzhen Children′s Hospital from September 2017 to December 2019, and 54 healthy control children (healthy children in ordinary primary and secondary schools in Shenzhen) were included. The Egna Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran (EMBU) scale was used to access the parenting styles of participants. ANCOVA was used to compare the different score of all factors in EMBU among these 3 groups and Tukey′s post-hoc comparisons were also performed. All comparisons were corrected for age and sex. Results:Among the factor scores of EMBU scale, ADHD children with conduct problems scored significantly higher on parental and maternal harsh/punishment [Parental (22.10±4.92) scores vs.(19.40±4.01) scores vs.(17.40±2.51) scores; Maternal (15.10±3.54) scores vs.(13.70±2.78) scores vs.(12.40±1.97) scores] and the reject/deny factors [Parental(10.60±2.49)scores vs.(9.40±2.06)scores vs.(8.90±1.61)scores, Maternal(13.90±3.28)scores vs.(12.40±2.64)scores vs.(11.60±2.19)scores] than ADHD children without conduct problems and the healthy control group (all P<0.001). On parental overprotection factors, both ADHD groups scored higher than the healthy control group [(10.30±2.03) scores vs.(9.80±2.13) scores vs.(8.70±1.92) scores, P<0.001], while on maternal over-interference factor, ADHD children with conduct problem scored significantly higher than ADHD children without conduct problems and the healthy controls [(36.00±4.64) scores vs.(34.60±4.38) scores vs.(33.30±4.92) scores, P=0.009]. Conclusions:Parents of ADHD children with conduct problems tend to use more negative parenting skills like punishment, over-interference, rejection and denial. This kind of negative parenting style, to some extent, causes the conduct problems in children with ADHD.
