ABSTRACT
【Objective】 To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of transurethral blue laser vaporescetion of the prostate in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). 【Methods】 The clinical data of 100 BPH patients undergoing the surgery in our hospital during May and Sep.2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The observations included operation time, bladder irrigation duration, postoperative catheter indwelling time, hospital stay, complications, as well as changes in hemoglobin, International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), Quality of Life Scale (QoL) score, maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), bladder residual urine volume (PVR), and other related indicators before and 3 months after surgery. 【Results】 All 100 procedures were successfully completed without turning to transurethral resection of the prostate and/or open surgery. No blood transfusion was needed. The operation time was (37.8±19.6) min, bladder irrigation time (1.3±0.5) d, catheter indwelling time (12.7±0.4) d, hospital stay (3.4±0.7) d, hemoglobin drop (4.1±7.1) g/L. The postoperative IPSS and QoL score were significantly lower than those before surgery (P<0.05); postoperative Qmax was higher than that before surgery (P<0.05); postoperative PVR was smaller than that before surgery (P<0.05). Urinary retention occurred in 4 cases (4%) after removal of the catheter; carnal hematuria and bladder clot formation occurred in 3 cases (3%); mixed urinary incontinence occurred in 2 cases (2%); stenosis of the external urethra occurred in 2 cases (2%). All complications were cured after symptomatic treatment. There were no serious perioperative complications, no intraoperative complications such as ureteral orifice injury or bladder perforation, and no serious postoperative complications such as transurethral resection syndrome (TURS), permanent urinary incontinence or bladder neck contracture. 【Conclusion】 The blue laser surgical system had satisfactory effects of vaporization and hemostasia. Transurethral blue laser vaporesection of the prostate is safe and effective in the treatment of BPH.
ABSTRACT
In contrast to the well-established genomic 5-methylcytosine (5mC), the existence of N6-methyladenine (6 mA) in eukaryotic genomes was discovered only recently. Initial studies found that it was actively regulated in cancer cells, suggesting its involvement in the process of carcinogenesis. However, the contribution of 6 mA in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) still remains uncharacterized. In this study, a pan-cancer type analysis was first performed, which revealed enhanced 6 mA metabolism in diverse cancer types. The study was then focused on the regulation of 6 mA metabolism, as well as its effects on TSCC cells. To these aspects, genome 6 mA level was found greatly increased in TSCC tissues and cultured cells. By knocking down 6 mA methylases N6AMT1 and METTL4, the level of genomic 6 mA was decreased in TSCC cells. This led to suppressed colony formation and cell migration. By contrast, knockdown of 6 mA demethylase ALKBH1 resulted in an increased 6 mA level, enhanced colony formation, and cell migration. Further study suggested that regulation of the NF-κB pathway might contribute to the enhanced migration of TSCC cells. Therefore, in the case of TSCC, we have shown that genomic 6 mA modification is involved in the proliferation and migration of cancer cells.

Objective@#: To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of microvascular decompression (MVD) combined with internal neurolysis (IN) in the treatment of recurrent trigeminal neuralgia (TN) after MVD. @*Methods@#: Sixty-four patients with recurrent TN admitted to the hospital from January 2014 to December 2017 were divided into two groups according to the surgical method. Twenty-nine patients, admitted from January 2014 to December 2015, were treated with MVD alone, whereas 35 admitted from January 2016 to December 2017 were treated with MVD+IN. The postoperative efficacy, complications, and pain recurrence rate of the two groups were analyzed. @*Results@#: The efficacy of the MVD+IN and MVD groups were 88.6% and 86.2%, and the cure rates were 77.1% and 65.5% respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p>0.05). The cure rate (83.3%) of patients in the MVD+IN group, who were only found thickened arachnoid adhesions during the operation that could not be fully released, was significantly higher than that of the MVD group (30.0%) (p0.05). For patients whose arachnoid adhesions were completely released, there had no significant difference (p>0.05) in the efficacy (87% vs. 94.7%) and recurrence rate (5.0% vs. 11.1%). The incidence of postoperative facial numbness (88.6%) in the MVD+IN group was higher than that in the MVD group (10.3%) (p0.05). In the 18–36 months follow-up, the recurrence rate of patients in the MVD+IN group (9.7%) and in the MVD group (16%) were not statistically different (p>0.05). @*Conclusion@#: A retrospective comparison of patients with recurrent TN showed that both MVD and MVD combined with IN can effectively treat recurrent TN. Compared with MVD alone, MVD combined with IN can effectively improve the pain cure rate of patients with recurrent TN who have only severe arachnoid adhesions. The combination does not increase the incidence of long-term facial numbness and other complications.
ABSTRACT
Steroid hormones play important roles in brain development and function. The signaling of steroid hormones depends on the interaction between steroid receptors and their coactivators. Although the function of steroid receptor coactivators has been extensively studied in other tissues, their functions in the central nervous system are less well investigated. In this study, we addressed the function of steroid receptor coactivator 3 (SRC3) - a member of the p160 SRC protein family that is expressed predominantly in the hippocampus. While hippocampal development was not altered in Src3

The disappearance time of objective signs and the incidence of facial adverse reactions were both lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05),however, the incidence of dry mouth in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P < 0.05). Conclusion:Compound glycyrrhizin tablets combined with recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor gel has better clinical effect for the therapy of facial hormone-dependent dermatitis, which can improve the symptoms significantly with high application security.
ABSTRACT
AIM:To investigate the inhibitory effect of corticosterone(CORT)on lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced expression of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)and its relation with xan-thine oxidase(XO).METHODS:An inflammatory model of mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 was established by stimula-ting with LPS.Total cellular protein was extracted after the macrophages were treated with CORT at different concentrations (0~900 μg/L).The protein levels of NLRP3 and caspase-1 were determined by Western blot.According to the treat-ments,the macrophages were divided into control group,LPS group,LPS+CORT group and LPS+allopurinol group.Cell components were extracted at 0,0.5,1,1.5 and 2 h.The protein levels of NLRP3 and XO were determined by Western blot, and the mRNA expression of NLRP3 and XO was detected by real-time PCR.RESULTS: CORT at 700 μg/L and above significantly inhibited the expression of NLRP 3 and the activation of caspase-1 in the macrophages induced by LPS (P<0.05).Compared with LPS group, the expression of NLRP3 and XO in LPS +CORT group was inhibited(P <0.05),and the expression of NLRP3 in LPS+allopurinol group was also reduced(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: High concentration of CORT inhibits the expression of NLRP 3 in LPS-induced mouse macrophages, which is associated with XO. The inhibitory effect of CORT may be related to the reduction of XO expression.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine the ion release from four commercially available pit-and-fissure sealants [3M Clinpro,3M ConciseTM,BeautiSealant (BS),and GI FX-Ⅱ)].With each brand,18 specimens were prepared.Their fluoride release in de-ionized water was measured by fluoride electrode, while the release of silicate (Si),aluminum (A1),sodium (Na),calcium (Ca),strontium (Sr),and phosphorus (P) was measured by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) on days 1,3,7,14,21,and 28.The result showed that fluoride was not released from 3M ConciseTM.GI FX-Ⅱ displayed the largest fluoride release, which, however, dropped rapidly on day 3.3M Clinpro exhibited less fluoride release than GI FX-Ⅱ and BS did.At any time during the 28-day experimental period,GI FX-Ⅱ released more Na than the other sealants (P<0.001).BS ranked the second in Na release, and a small amount of Na ions was released from the 3M Clinpro and 3M ConciseTM samples.A1 ions were only detected from BS and GI FX-Ⅱ,but not from the 3M Clinpro and 3M ConciseTM.Additionally GI FX-Ⅱ had the largest Si release among the four brands at any time during the experimental period (P<0.001).Ca ions were detected from 3M Clinpro and 3M ConciseTM,but not from GI FX-Ⅱ.BS released more Sr than the other sealants at any time during the experimental period (P<0.001).All the samples released similar amounts of P continuously during these 28 days.In conclusion, based on the type and the amount of ion release,BS is the best pit-and-fissure sealant among the four brands.

ABSTRACT
Objective To compare clinical outcome of microvascular decompression (MVD) and percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) by using a prospective cohort study in order to provide a reliable evidence for the clinical decision-making. Methods Patients with trigeminal neuralgia hospitalized at Hangzhou First People′s Hospital in 2010 were chosen as database for cohort study. The patients were divided into MVD group (30 cases) and PBC group (30 cases). The clinical efficacy was followed by independent observers for 36 months after surgery. Chi-square test for hierarchical data, t test for quantitative data, and Kaplan-Meier plot for clinical outcomes were applied in the research. The endpoint was follow-up accomplishment or severe occurrence. Results Sixty patients were included in the research till the endpoint. The general records before surgery were almost the same with the literature records. By comparing painless period, mild and severe relapse, MVD group was superior to PBC group (P < 0.05). As for the painless survival period, MVD group was 96.7% of pain free after 1 year, 93.3% after 3 years, while PBC group was 90.0% after 1 year and 83.3% after 3 years. Regarding 3 years of follow-up, the relapse seemed occurred after 1 year in both groups. Conclusions As a curative and nondestructive procedure , MVD is more effective and has longer lasting pain free period , which should be considered as the first choice of treatment for trigeminal neuralgia in healthy people.

Conclusions PBL has evident advantages in anesthesiology clinical demonstration. It can inspire students, cultivate abilities, enhance critical thinking and finally improve teaching effect.
ABSTRACT
Oxymatrine, a potent monosomic alkaloid extracted from Chinese herb Sophora japonica [Sophora flavescens Ait.]. Possesses anti-inflammatory activittyes. This study was designed to investigate the effects of oxymatrine on nuclear factor-kappa B [NF-[kappa]B] and mitogen-activated protein kinase [MAPK]-dependent inflammatory responses in lipopolysaccharide [LPS]-activated microglia. In this paper, BV2 microglia were pretreated with different concentrations of oxymatrine [1, 10 and 20 Microg/mL] for 30 min as followed by stimulation with LPS [1 Microg/mL] for different times [30 min, 1 h, 3 h, and 6 h]. Concentrations of nitric oxide [NO], prostaglandin E[2] [PGE[2]], tumor necrosis factor-alpha [TNF-alpha], interleukin-1beta [IL-1beta] and interleukin-6 [IL-6] in supernatant, mRNA levels of inducible nitric oxide synthase [iNOS] and cyclooxygenase-2 [COX-2], cytosolic inhibitor of kappa B-alpha [I-[kappa]B alpha] and phospho- I-[kappa]B[alpha] and nuclear p65 protein levels, and the phosphorylations of MAPK molecules such as extracellular-signal-regulated kinase [ERK] 1/2, p38 MAPK and c-Jun N-terminal kinase [JNK] were determined. It was shown that oxymatrine inhibited the productions of NO, PGE2, TNF-alpha, IL-1beta and IL-6, attenuated the mRNA levels of iNOS and COX-2, suppressed the phosphorylation of I-[kappa]B[alpha] in cytosol, decreased the nuclear levels of p65, and also blocked ERK, p38 and JNK pathway in LPS-stimulated BV2 microglial cells in a dose-dependent manner. According to the results; it is suggested that oxymatrine may attenuate inflammatory responses of microglia and could be potentially useful in modulation of inflammatory status in the brain disorders
ABSTRACT
<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To compare the differences between the direct immuno-fluorescent assay (DFA) and real-time quantitative PCR in detecting the Hantavirus (HV) in rat lungs.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>From April to October in 2012, a total of 479 rats were caught by mouse-trap in residential or wild areas in Huxian, Jingyang, and Meixian of Shaanxi province, where haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) was highly prevalent. The rats were dissected to take the two lungs, one was frozen and applied immuno-fluorescent assay to detect HV antigen while the other one was extracted its RNA and detected HV nucleic acid by real-time quantitative PCR. Then we compared the positive rate of the two methods.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Out of the 479 rats, 105 were caught from residential areas and the other 374 were caught from wild areas. Among the 105 rats caught from residential areas, no HV were detected out neither by DFA nor by real-time quantitative PCR. Among the 374 wild rats, 13.1% (49/374) were detected HV positive by DFA and 14.7% (55/374) were detected HV positive by real-time quantitative PCR. The difference showed no statistical significance (χ(2) = 0.402, P = 0.526). When detecting each lung sample, the HV positive rate was 10.2% (49/479) under the detection by DFA while the HV positive rate was 11.5% (55/479) under the detection by real-time quantitative PCR. The difference had no statistical significance (χ(2) = 1.286, P = 0.257) and the consistency coefficient was 68.2% under the paired chi-square test analysis, which showed high consistency (u = 11.759, P < 0.05). The sensitivity of real-time quantitative PCR to detect HV was 77.6% (38/49) comparing with DFA as standard, and the specificity was 96.1% (413/430). Out of the 9 suspected HV positive sample detected by DFA, 6 were confirmed positive by real-time quantitative PCR and 3 were denied.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Compared with the DFA, real-time quantitative PCR could also be used to detect the infection of HV in rats, and the result might be more stable.</p>

To obtain the caries experience and, plaque accumulation severity and pit and fissure morphology in first permanent molars in 7-8 children in Wuhan, as a reasonable prediction of caries risk and preventive attention in the future, a convenient sample of five primary schools in the vicinity of the Wuhan University School and Hospital of Stomatology was drawn. Two calibrated examiners orally examined all present grade 2 children in the classroom, using standard caries plaque and tooth morphology criteria. Dental caries was scored at enamel (D(2)) and dentine (D(3)) for tooth and surface level. Independent variables were age, gender and school. Data analysis used analysis of variance and t-test. The sample comprised 1 043 7- and 8-year-olds. The prevalence of dental caries in permanent dentition was 8.7% and in primary dentition, 68.7%. Mean Decayed, Missing, Filled Teeth/S (DMFT/S) scores were 0.11 and 0.14, respectively. Mean dmft/s scores were 2.8 and 5.0. The d-component constituted 75% of the d(3)mft index, while enamel carious lesions constituted 36% of the total number of carious lesions (d(2,3)-component). Prevalence of medium and deep pits and fissures was 84.6%. Prevalence of medium and severe plaque accumulation was 67.4%. Prevalence of dental caries in the deciduous and permanent dentitions of 7- to 8-year-old children was high. Deep pits and fissures in high caries risk children should be sealed.

Phytoene synthase is a rate-limiting enzyme in the pathway of carotenoid biosynthesis. To aim at establishing a transformation of Ginseng callus cells, elevating the nutritive value through encouraging the composition of corresponding carotenoid, taking Ginseng callus cells as acceptor, psy gene were transformed into cells via Agrobacterium-mediated. The factors affecting genetict ransformation were also investigated seperately from concentrations of A.tumefaciens, age of Ginseng callus cells, infection time and co-culture time. PCR,PCR-Southern and RT-PCR analysis from the transferred gene plants proved that psy gene has been transferred into Ginseng callus cells and can be expressed. The content of ?-carotene was increased by an average of 26 times.A base of improving and raising the contents of carotenoid in the Ginseng callus cell was established.
ABSTRACT
Objective To compare the safety between laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) and open cholecystectomy (OC) for benign gallbladder diseases in elderly patients. Methods A total of 120 patients above the age of 60 with indications for cholecystectomy and tolerance to general anesthesia were divided into two groups (LC Group and OC Group), in admission order of odd or even, with 60 patients in each group. Peri-operative parameters including operation time, analgetic consumption, postoperative gastrointestinal recovery time, length of duration with fluid infusion, length of bed rest, postoperative complications, and hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Serum total triiodothyronine (TT3) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels, as well as the functional recovery of the abdominal muscles, were also recorded and compared. Results Peri-operative parameters were better in the LC Group than in the OC Group. Serum TT3 levels decreased significantly after surgery in both the LC Group (F=8.26,P=0.000) and the OC Group (F=124.70,P=0.000), with a more significant difference in the OC Group.Postoperatively, serum TSH levels decreased insignificantly in the LC Group (F=1.87,P=0.157) and significantly in the OC Group (F=27.24,P=0.000). Lasegue’s test at 7 days after surgery showed significantly higher leg-raising times in the LC Group than in the OC Group (t=3.640,P=0.000). Conclusions Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is superior to open cholecystectomy in the treatment of benign gallbladder diseases in elderly patients.
