ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To assess the efficacy and safety of mulberry twig alkaloids (Sangzhi alkaloids, SZ-A) for treatment of type 2 diabetes in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter clinical trial.@*METHODS@#A total of 200 patients were randomized to receive SZ-A (n=100) or placebo (n=100) for 16 weeks. The data analysis system for electronic data capture clinical trial central randomization system was used for randomization and dispensing of drugs. The primary outcome was the change in glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level. The secondary outcome included the proportions of cases with HbA1c <7.0% and HbA1c <6.5%, fasting blood glucose (FBG), postprandial blood glucose (PBG), area under curve for the PBG (AUC0-2h), body weight, and body mass index (BMI). Adverse events (AEs), severe adverse events (SAEs), treatment-related adverse events (TAEs), gastrointestinal disorders (GDs), blood pressure, routine blood tests, and liver and kidney function were monitored.@*RESULTS@#Compared with baseline, the change of HbA1c at week 16 was -0.80% (95% CI: -0.98% to -0.62%) and -0.09% (95% CI: -0.27% to 0.09%) in SZ-A group and placebo group, respectively. The proportion of patients with HbA1c <7% and <6.5% was higher in the SZ-A group than in the placebo group (46.8% vs. 21.6% and 29.9% vs. 10.8%). The observed values and changes in FBG, 1 h-PBG, 2 h-PBG, and AUC0-2h differed significantly between groups (P<0.001), but differences were not significant in body weight and BMI (P>0.05). The incidence rates of AEs, TAEs, and GDs differed significantly between groups (P=0.010, P=0.005, and P=0.006, respectively), whereas the incidence rates of SAEs showed no significant differences between groups (P=1.000).@*CONCLUSION@#SZ-A are effective and safe for treatment of type 2 diabetes. ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the clinical and genetic characteristics of a child with frontometaphyseal dysplasia 1 (FMD1) due to variant of FLNA gene.@*METHODS@#Clinical phenotype of the patient was analyzed. Whole exome sequencing (WES) was carried out to detect pathogenic genetic variants. Sanger sequencing was used to verify the result in his parents.@*RESULTS@#The 2-year-and-9-month-old boy presented with facial dysmorphism (supraorbital hyperostosis, down-slanting palpebral fissure and ocular hypertelorism), skeletal deformities (bowed lower limbs, right genu valgum, left genu varus, slight deformity of index and middle fingers, and flexion contracture of little fingers). He also had limited left elbow movement. High-throughput sequencing revealed that he has carried a de novo heterogeneous c.3527G>A (p.Gly1176Glu) missense variant of the FLNA gene. The same variant was found in neither parent.@*CONCLUSION@#The clinical manifestations of FMD1 such as joint contracture and bone dysplasia can occur in infancy and deteriorate with age, and require long-term follow-up and treatment. Above finding has expanded the spectrum of FLNA gene variants.

ABSTRACT

Breast tumor has become one of the malignant tumors with the highest incidence, and is a serious threat to human health, especially to women. Chemotherapy is an important anti-breast tumor therapy, which can be used in almost every stage of breast tumor therapy alone or in the combination with surgery and radiation therapy. Alkaloids are a kind of ubiquitous natural products, and important active components of various medicinal plants. A large number of studies have shown that alkaloids could exert an anti-breast tumor effect by inhibiting proliferation, metastasis and angiogenesis, resisting mitosis, promoting apoptosis and autophagy, and triggering cell cycle arrest. The extensive anti-breast tumor effect makes alkaloids an important candidate drug source. This paper reviews the anti-breast tumor mechanism of natural products of alkaloids.

ABSTRACT

Three compounds, including scolosprine C(1), uracil(2) and hypoxanthine(3), were isolated and purified from the ethyl acetate fraction of centipede by silica gel normal-phase column chromatography, reversed-phase medium pressure preparation chromatography, and high-pressure semi-preparative HPLC. The structure was elucidated through a combination of spectroscopic analyses [such as nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and mass spectrometry(MS)] and literature review. Among them, compound 1 was a new quinoline alkaloid. In previous reports, we have described the isolation and structure elucidation of one new and two known quinoline alkaloids. In this paper, we would report the isolation and structure elucidation of scolosprine C in detail.

ABSTRACT

Abstract@#During the yellow fever epidemic in Angola in 2016, cases of yellow fever were reported in China for the first time. The 11 cases, all Chinese nationals returning from Angola, were identified in March and April 2016, one to two weeks after the peak of the Angolan epidemic. One patient died; the other 10 cases recovered after treatment. This paper reviews the epidemiological characteristics of the 11 yellow fever cases imported into China. It examines case detection and disease control and surveillance, and presents recommendations for further action to prevent additional importation of yellow fever into China.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the analgesic effect of Panlongqi tablet(PLQT) on rats with chronic inflammatory pain, and to explore mechanism of the action preliminarily from the perspective of the nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB)and mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPKs) signaling pathways. Method:Rats were induced to establish model of chronic inflammatory pain by complete Freund adjuvant(CFA), which was divided into normal group, model group, the PLQT 0.16,0.32,0.64 g·kg-1 group, and the ibuprofen 0.05 g·kg-1 group(also positive group), give the medicine once a day by gavage. Standard Von Frey fiber was used to evaluated the mechanical pain threshold, acetone was used to stimulated rats inflammatory foot to get the cold-induced response score, with the mechanical pain threshold and cold-induced response score to be observed at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 h before and after administration on day 1, and at 4 h after administration on day 3-7. The content of PGE2, IL-1, TNF-α in serum, inflammatory foot and 4-5 lumbar spinal cord was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The protein level of MAPKs (p-p38, p-ERK, p-JNK) in lumbar spinal cord 4-5 was detected by Western blot. The expression of NF-κB p65 in the lumbar spinal cord was detected by IFA. Result:Model group had lower mechanical pain threshold and higher cold-induced response score than these in normal group(P<0.01), while the mechanical pain threshold and cold-induce response score of the model rats were dose-dependent better regulated after administration of PLQT 0.16, 0.32, 0.64 g·kg-1·d-1(P<0.05,P<0.01), these effect lasted 6 h, of which PLQT groups get the most significant effect on 4 h, however the effect of IBP was similar to that of PLQT medium dose group. In addition, PLQT reduced the abnormal increase of PGE2, IL-1 and TNF-α contents in serum, inflammatory foot and spinal cord of rats in model group, decreased the protein phosphorylation levels of ERK and JNK in spinal cord, and decreased the protein expression of NF-κB p65, that was significant in the PLQT high-dose group(P<0.01). Conclusion:PLQT had significant analgesic effect on chronic inflammatory pain model rats, which may be related to the inhibition of NF-κB and MAPKs signaling pathways in spinal cord.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the value of a holistic communication program for inpatients developed based on the medical humanistic GLTC communication model, designed to improve patient satisfaction and medical quality, and effectively enhance doctors′ communication and clinical work capabilities.Methods:A GLTC Doctor-Inpatient Communication Program and an Inpatient Satisfaction Questionnaire for Doctor-patient Communication were customized.From August 2018 to February 2019, the communication program was used to train doctors from different departments of five tertiary public hospitals in Jiangsu province. The questionnaire was used to survey both doctors and their inpatients. 250 questionnaires were distributed each time, to compare the doctor-patient satisfaction before and after the training and influencing factors. Data so acquired were subject to descriptive analysis, t-tests and multiple linear regression analysis. Results:Since application of the program, patient satisfaction scoring was higher than that before in general( P<0.05), while the patient satisfaction for medical expenses and disease explanation communication related programs was low. The difference of both doctors and patients satisfaction scoring for doctor-patient communication was statistically significant( P<0.05). Oncologists presented a higher evaluation on the applicability of the program than those from other departments( P<0.05). Conclusions:Application of the GLTC doctor-patient communication program can effectively improve the satisfaction of inpatients. It is recommended that this communication program be integrated into the entire medical treatment of inpatients, and the implementation plan should be differentiated according to the differences of inpatients. It is necessary to strengthen the communication of medical expenses and explain medical knowledge to inpatients, while doctors′ mindset of consultation should be adapted, with the program constantly improved for higher clinical applicability.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#The purpose of this study was to compare the survival and toxicities in cervical esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (CESCC) treated by concurrent chemoradiothrapy with either three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) or intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) techniques. @*Materials and Methods@#A total of 112 consecutive CESCC patients were retrospectively reviewed. 3D-CRT and IMRT groups had been analyzed by propensity score matching method, with sex, age, Karnofsky performance status, induction chemotherapy, and tumor stage well matched. The Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model were used for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Toxicities were compared between two groups by Fisher exact test. @*Results@#With a median follow-up time of 34.9 months, the 3-year OS (p=0.927) and PFS (p=0.859) rate was 49.6% and 45.8% in 3D-CRT group, compared with 54.4% and 42.8% in IMRT group. The rates of grade ≥ 3 esophagitis, grade ≥ 2 pneumonitis, esophageal stricture, and hemorrhage were comparable between two groups, while the rate of tracheostomy dependence was much higher in IMRT group than 3D-CRT group (14.3% vs.1.8%, p=0.032). Radiotherapy technique (hazard ratio [HR], 0.09; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.01 to 0.79) and pretreatment hoarseness (HR, 0.12; 95% CI 0.02 to 0.70) were independently prognostic of tracheostomy dependence. @*Conclusion@#No survival benefits had been observed while comparing IMRT versus 3D-CRT in CESCC patients. IMRT with fraction dose escalation and pretreatment hoarseness were considered to be associated with a higher risk for tracheostomy dependence. Radiation dose escalation beyond 60 Gy should be taken into account carefully when using IMRT with hypofractionated regimen.

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the clinical characteristics and genetic basis for an infant featuring combined pituitary hormone deficiency.@*METHODS@#Clinical data and results of DNA sequencing of the child were analyzed.@*RESULTS@#The 10-month-old male infant presented with recurrent hypoglycemia, extremely poor appetite and constipation, and severe growth retardation from 2 months on, in addition with pituitary hormone deficiency involving growth hormone, thyroid stimulating hormone, and prolactin. Next generation sequencing revealed a novel heterozygous c.767-769del (p.Glu256del) variant of the POU1F1 gene in the patient.@*CONCLUSION@#The patient was diagnosed with combined pituitary hormone deficiency due to the POU1F1 gene variant, for which replacement therapy including thyroxine and growth hormone was provided. Hypoglycemia is unusual in patients carrying POU1F1 gene variants and requires close attention in clinical practice. For children with multiple pituitary hormone deficiency, genetic testing should be recommended to determine the cause.

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the clinical characteristics and genetic variation in a child with acrodysostosis type 2.@*METHODS@#The child has undergone history taking and physical examination. Genome DNA was extracted from peripheral blood samples from him and his parents. High-throughput sequencing was carried out. The result was verified by Sanger sequencing.@*RESULTS@#The 8-year-old boy presented with midface hypoplasia, hypertelorism, prominent nasal bridge, small and upturned nostrils, broad thumb and great toes, and brachydactyly of remaining fingers and toes. Genetic testing revealed that the child has carried a heterozygous c.1813T>C (p.Tyr605His) missense mutation of the PDE4D gene. The same mutation was not found in either parent and was unreported previously.@*CONCLUSION@#The child was diagnosed with acrodysostosis type 2 due to the novel mutation of the PDE4D gene.

ABSTRACT

Hypoglossal motor neurons (HMNs) innervate tongue muscles and play key roles in a variety of physiological functions, including swallowing, mastication, suckling, vocalization, and respiration. Dysfunction of HMNs is associated with several diseases, such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and sudden infant death syndrome. OSA is a serious breathing disorder associated with the activity of HMNs during different sleep-wake states. Identifying the neural mechanisms by which the state-dependent activities of HMNs are controlled may be helpful in providing a theoretical basis for effective therapy for OSA. However, the presynaptic partners governing the activity of HMNs remain to be elucidated. In the present study, we used a cell-type-specific retrograde tracing system based on a modified rabies virus along with a Cre/loxP gene-expression strategy to map the whole-brain monosynaptic inputs to HMNs in mice. We identified 53 nuclei targeting HMNs from six brain regions: the amygdala, hypothalamus, midbrain, pons, medulla, and cerebellum. We discovered that GABAergic neurons in the central amygdaloid nucleus, as well as calretinin neurons in the parasubthalamic nucleus, sent monosynaptic projections to HMNs. In addition, HMNs received direct inputs from several regions associated with respiration, such as the pre-Botzinger complex, parabrachial nucleus, nucleus of the solitary tract, and hypothalamus. Some regions engaged in sleep-wake regulation (the parafacial zone, parabrachial nucleus, ventral medulla, sublaterodorsal tegmental nucleus, dorsal raphe nucleus, periaqueductal gray, and hypothalamus) also provided primary inputs to HMNs. These results contribute to further elucidating the neural circuits underlying disorders caused by the dysfunction of HMNs.

ABSTRACT

Since the 1990s, emerging infectious diseases have been found in the world. After SARS in 2003, there have been several domestic and imported emerging infectious diseases in China, indicating a not optimistic situation. The associated and driven factors of occurrence or spreading of emerging infectious diseases come from biological, natural and social fields. Therefore, the world health organization and the international community focus on the establishment of effective regional and international monitoring and response systems. Although the emerging infectious diseases response capacity in China has been systematically improved since the SARS epidemic in 2003, there still has deficiencies on mechanism and system. Considering the current emerging infectious diseases situation and challenge, the key area or pathogens and the tasks of capacity building on surveillance, early warning and response need to be clarified and strengthened in China.

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effect of total hip arthroplasty(THA) with the prosthesis of 127° small neck stem angle and 135° large neck stem angle.@*METHODS@#From January 2014 to June 2016, 84 patients with THA were selected, including 44 males and 40 females, aged 45 to 72(53.4±8.1) years old, 68 patients with necrosis of the femoral head(32 on the left and 36 on the right), 16 patients with serious osteoarthritis of the hip caused by other reasons, and the course of disease was 9 to 36 (24.0±5.5) months. Forty-two patients in each group were evaluated by Harris score, visual analog score(VAS), length measurement of lower limbs, biomechanical evaluation of different angles of the neck stem. The complications and quality of life 24 months after operation were compared.@*RESULTS@#Two patients in each group were lost, the rest were followed up for 30 to 36 (33.0±1.6)months. The Harris score and the length of both lower limbs were measured before and 1, 6, 12, 24 months after operation. The difference of Harris score and the length of both lower limbs in the two groups was significantly improved compared with that before operation(@*CONCLUSION@#THA with large and small neck stem angle prosthesis can better recover the function of hip joint, but large neck stem angle can reduce the degree of postoperative pain and improve the quality of life of patients.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To determine the clinical characteristics and risk factors of Deep Venous Thrombosis [DVT] in patients with gynecological malignant tumor, facilitating gynecologists better prevent the fatal complication


Methods: The patients with gynecological malignant tumor treated in department of gynecology of our hospital between May 2013 and May 2018 were reviewed retrospectively. The clinical data of patients including gender, age, tumor staging, adenocarcinoma, surgery, operation time, hypertension, hyperlipemia, diabetes, coronary heart disease, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hospital stay, and postoperative rehabilitation exercise were collected to analyze the clinical characteristics of patients and determine the risk factors of DVT


Results: In the current study, 67 patients were included in DVT group, and 554 patients were included in Non-DVT group. There were significant differences in age, hypertension, hyperlipemia, operation time, adenocarcinoma, tumor staging, radiotherapy and postoperative rehabilitation exercises between DVT and non-DVT groups [p<0.05]. However, there was no significant differences in gender, coronary heart disease, diabetes, surgical treatment and hospital stay [p>0.05]. In multivariate analysis, the factors including age, hypertension, adenocarcinoma, radiotherapy, and hyperlipemia were independent risk factors, while rehabilitation exercise was protective factor for DVT


Conclusion: In cases of gynecological malignant tumor, DVT screening should be given due importance, especially for those patients with old age, hypertension, hyperlipemia, adenocarcinoma, or history of radiotherapy. Rehabilitation exercise should be encouraged in these patients

OBJECTIVE@#To assess the feasibility and efficacy of simvastatin-collagen composite sponge as a novel, direct pulp capping material.@*METHODS@#A total of 120 Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: the simvastatin-collagen composite sponge group (SIM group), the collagen sponge group (CS group), and the Ca(OH)2 group (CH group). An endodontic entry cavity was prepared on the occlusion of the first molar on the left maxillary of each rat. The contralateral teeth were utilized as the normal control group. The rats were experimented after 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days. X-ray observations were conducted and the specimens underwent hematoxylin-eosin (HE) and Masson's Thichrome staining. Dentin bridge formations and pulpal biology reactions were evaluated histopathologically.@*RESULTS@#X-ray results: high-density images could be observed on the pulp exposure sites in the CH group on the 28th day. In the SIM group, high-density images could be observed after 14 and 28 days, whereas in the CS group, high-density images were not observable in the exposed area. HE and Masson's Thichrome staining results: different degrees of inflammation under the cavity were detected in the three groups at different time points. The inflammatory reaction of the CS group was the most serious. The degree of the inflammatory reaction varied significantly between the SIM and the CS groups on the 14th and 28th days (P<0.01). The inflammatory reaction in the SIM group was lighter than in the CH group. There was a statistical difference between the SIM and the CH groups on the 14th day (P<0.05). During the observation period, the SIM group induced the best and fastest formation of reparative dentin. As for dentin bridge formation, a significantly higher complete bridge rate was observed in the SIM group than in the CH and in the CS groups on the 14th day (P<0.05) and for the SIM and the CH groups compared with the CS group on the 28th day (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#The simvastatin-collagen composite sponge exhibited satisfactory biocompatibility with the pulp tissue and promoted the formation of reparative dentin. The application of simvastatin-collagen composite sponge as a pulp-capping material has satisfactory potential.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the adrenocortical function changes of patients with advanced solid tumors who received the anti- programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) antibody, SHR-1210 therapy.@*Methods@#The clinical data of 98 patients with advanced solid tumors who were enrolled in a prospective phase I trial of SHR-1210 therapy at our institution between April 27, 2016 and June 8, 2017 were collected. The levels of plasma adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and cortisol were evaluated in 96 patients. The clinical manifestations, laboratory tests and radiologic data were collected to define the immune-related adrenal insufficiency.@*Results@#Until December 14th, 2018, no SHR-1210 related primary adrenal insufficiency occurred, and the incidence of immune-related secondary adrenal insufficiency was 1.0% among the 96 patients, which was identified as grade 2. No patient developed grade 3-4 adrenal insufficiency. The main clinical manifestations of the patient who was diagnosed as secondary adrenal insufficiency were grade 2 fatigue, anorexia and headache.The patient developed fatigue and anorexia at the 267th day after receiving the first dose of SHR-1210, the hypocortisolism occurred on the 279th day, and the headache emerged on the 291th day. The anorexia of patient who treated by physiological replacement doses of glucocorticoid since the 457th day was attenuated.The patient whose cortisol level was still below the normal limit continued to accept the hormone replacement therapy up to 776 days after the initial administration of SHR-1210.@*Conclusions@#The incidence of SHR-1210 related adrenal insufficiency of patients with advanced solid tumors is low, and the symptoms can be effectively ameliorated by hormone replacement therapy. The potential adverse outcome of adrenal insufficiency following immunotherapy should be noticed by clinicians to avoid the occurrence of adrenal crisis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the effect of Fengshi Qutong capsule on the migration, adhesion, invasion and tube formation of human synovial cells and the phosphorylation and protein expression of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2). Method: With human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) as the research object, low, middle and high-dose Fengshi Qutong capsule(0.02,0.1,0.5 μg·L-1) on HUVEC was determined by methye thiazolye telrazlium (MTT) colorimetric assay for the follow-up experiment. The transwell migration, adhesion and transwell invasion test were used to detect the migration and adhesion of the different concentrations of Fengshi Qutong capsule in HUVEC. The expression of VEGFR2 in HUVEC was detected by Western blot, and Real-time PCR was used to detect the content of VEGFR2 mRNA in cells. Result: Compared with normal group, the proliferation of HUVEC was significantly increased after 24 h and 48 h of VEGF induction (PPP-1 Fengshi Qutong capsule were administered in vitro for 48 h to inhibit HUVEC proliferation activity in a dose-dependent manner (PPPPConclusion: Fengshi Qutong capsule can inhibit the migration, adhesion, invasion and tube formation of HUVEC. This effect may be related to the inhibition of phosphorylation, and protein and mRNA expression level of VEGFR2.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effect of Fengshi Qutong capsule (FSQTC) on protein kinase B(Akt) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Method:Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) was induced in SD rats, and the synovial membranes of the knee joints were prepared after 19 days of oral administration of 0.25, 0.5, 1 g·kg-1 FSQTC. MH7A cells were induced by tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α, 20 μg·L-1) in vitro, and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) were induced by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). FSQTC (0.02, 0.1, 0.5 μg·L-1) were added to MH7A/HUVEC cells, and then the cells were collected. Proteins of synovial tissue, MH7A and HUVEC cells were extracted, and then were detected the expresstion of p-Akt, p-p38 MAPK, p-extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK) and p-Jun n-terminal kinase(JNK) by Western blot. Result:The expression levels of p-Akt, p-p38 MAPK, p-ERK and p-JNK in the synovial membrane of CIA model were significantly increased compared with normal group (P-1·d-1 FSQTC significantly decreased their expression levels (PPα or VEGF were increased (P-1 FSQTC (PPConclusion:FSQTC can down-regulate the abnormal activation of Akt and MAPK signaling pathways in the synovial membrane of CIA rats, fibroblast synovial cells and vascular endothelial cells, which is related to the inhibition of synovial angiogenesis in the treatment of RA.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the effects of Fengshi Qutong capsule (FSQTC) on proliferation, migration, adhesion, invasion and secretion of human synovial cells in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) induced by tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and explore its mechanism. Method: Human synovial cells (MH7A) in RA patients were induced in vitro by using TNF-α (20 μg·L-1). After treatment with different concentrations of FSQTC (0.02,0.1,0.5 μg·L-1), MTT colorimetric assay, transwell migration, adhesion and invasion tests were used to detect the proliferation, migration, adhesion and invasion of the MH7A, respectively. The expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in MH7A supernatant were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Result: As compared with blank control group, TNF-α (20 μg·L-1) significantly increased the proliferation, migration, adhesion, invasion and secretion of IL-1β and VEGF of MH7A cells (P-1) had no significant effect on proliferation of TNF-α-induced MH7A cells after treatment for 24 hours. After 48 hours of treatment, proliferation of MH7A cells induced by TNF-α was decreased in a concentration-dependent manner (PPPPConclusion: FSQTC can inhibit the proliferation, migration, adhesion, invasion and secretion of IL-1β and VEGF in MH7A cells.

ABSTRACT

Objective Toinvestigatetheshort-termefficacyoftranscatheterarterialchemoembolization(TACE)combinedwith microwaveablation (MWA;TACE-MWA)inthetreatmentofmultinodularhepatocellularcarcinoma (HCC).Methods 58patients withmultinodularHCCtreatedintheinterventionalmedicinecenterfromJanuary2015toJanuary2017wereincludedingradeAor B.34cases(groupA)receivedTACEand24cases(groupB)underwentTACE-MWAtherapy.Theshort-termefficacywasevaluatedbyfollow-upandanalysisofthetimetoprogression (TTP),localrecurrencerate,newlesionrate,andpostoperativecomplicationsinboth groups.Results TheTTPinthetwogroupswas38-240 (106.2±63.1)daysand90-630 (328.5±178.8)daysrespectively.The incidenceofpostoperativecomplicationsintwogroupswas2.9% (1/34)and4.2% (1/24)respectivelyI.ngroupA,thelocalrecurrenceratewas 52.9% (18/34)andthenewfocusratewas76% (26/34);inthegroupB,thelocalrecurrenceratewas8.3% (2/24)andthenewfocusratewas 66.7% (16/24).Thedifferenceoflocalrecurrenceratebetweenthetwogroupswasstatisticallysignificant(P<0.05),whiletheincidenceofnew lesionwasnotsignificantlydifferent (P>0.05).Conclusion TACE-MWAissafeandeffectiveinthetreatmentofmultinodular HCC.ComparingwithtraditionalTACEtreatment,TACE-MWAcansignificantlyimprovedTTPandlocalcontrolrate.
