ABSTRACT

Objective Assisted reproductive technology ( ART) is associated with an increased incidence of offspring de-fects.The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of embryo vitrification in in vitro fertilization ( IVF) on the growth and devel-opment of the offspring by comparing the development status of mouse offspring from fresh embryo versus vitrified embryo transplanta-tion. Methods This study included three groups of mouse offspring , from natural fertilization ( n=12 ) , fresh embryo transplanta-tion (FET, n=9), and vitrified embryo transplantation (VET, n=9).We compared the body weight and body fat content in the sex-ually mature stage among the three groups of mice . Results No obvious differences were found in the morphology of the embryos be-tween the FET and VET groups .The body weight of the mouse offspring was significantly higher in the VET than in the natural control group at 0 postnatal (PN) week (P<0.01) and 12 PN weeks (P<0.01), and so was it in the FET group than in the control at 0 PN week (P<0.01) and 6 PN weeks (P<0.05).The body fat content at sexual maturity was remarkably higher in the VET than in the FET and control groups ([9.32 ±4.34] vs [5.24 ±2.56] and [2.80 ± 0.48] g, P<0.05), and so was the muscle content in the VET than in the control ([33.77 ±4.22] vs [27.50 ±1.79] g, P<0.01). Conclusion In IVF, fresh embryo transplantation has less interference with the growth and development of mouse offspring than vitri-fied embryo transplantation .

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the causes and treatment measures of an outbreak of Norwegian scabies oc-curred in a hospital. Methods In May 2013,an outbreak of Norwegian scabies among health care workers(HCWs) occurred because of the misdiagnosis of a patient with Norwegian scabies, epidemiological investigation was carried out by healthcare-associated infection(HAI)control department, medical intervention and disinfection and isolation measures were performed. Results A total of 27 HCWs and patients’relatives developed Norwegian scabies. After active medical treatment, patients’condition improved;all appliances used by patients were cleaned and disinfected after being wrapped and sealed with plastic bags for one week.Epidemic trend of infection was under control and no new case was found. Conclusion With highly contagious,Norwegian scabies can be spread in local area,it is neces-sary to improve HCWs’diagnostic ability to this disease and take effective measures to prevent the epidemic once HAI occur.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the prevalence of hand hygiene compliance rates of health care workers (HCWs) at general hospitals in China in 2010-2012. Methods Literatures about hand hygiene compliance of HCWs from 2010 to 2012 were retrieved from China Biology Medicine disc (CBM),China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI),Wan Fang database,VIP ,and PubMed database ,Comprehensive Meta Analysis V2 software and Stata 1 2 .0 software were adopted to conduct statistical analysis . Results Ninety literatures were selected with heterogeneity (Q= 48 118.32,P0.05);the compliance rate after patient contact was higher than before patient contact (54.33% [95% CI :44.76% -63.59% ]vs 20.21% [95% CI:14.12% -28.06% ])(Q= 32.59, P<0.01 );hand compliance rate from field observation was higher than from covert observation (70.91% [95% CI :70.71% - 71.10% ]vs 41.20% [95% CI:37.55% -44.94% ])(Q= 247.66,P<0.01).Conclusion The overall hand hygiene compliance rate of HCWs in 2010-2012 was low,in order to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infec-tion,hand hygiene compliance of HCWs need to be increased .

ABSTRACT

s:Objective Discuss the application of CTA for renal vascular control in laparoscopic renal transplantation of relative renal donors. Methods 83 cases of relative renal transplantation donors which are completed in our department during March 2007 to Junuary 2012 were divided into 3 Groups. There were 35 cases in group A ( laparoscopic nephrectomy with preoperative CTA examination) , 15 cases in group B ( laparoscopic nephrectomy without preoperative CTA examination) , and 33 cases group C ( conventional nephrectomy) . In group A, the location and quantity of renal arteries and veins were observed with preoperative CTA to make plan for vascular control. And the oper-ation time, amount of bleeding, vascular injury cases, the renal warm ischemia time in the graft, mean time of postoperative hospitalization were compared with those of group B and group C. Results 5 cases of renal vascular anomalies were observed in Group A, including 2 cases of single accessory renal artery, 2 cases of early branch of renal artery and 1 case of double renal veins. And all of them were intraoperatively comfirmed. 3 cases of renal vascular anomalies were observed in group B, including 1 case of renal arteriovenous ectopic, 1 case of injury in the accessory renal artery with diameter of 0. 6 cm, and it were given artery elongation with inferior epigastric artery postoperatively, and 1 case of renal vein injure during blocking lumbar vein with Hemolock which were repaired postoperatively. 5 cases of renal vascular anomalies were observed in group C, including 1 case of single accessory renal artery, 3 cases of early branch of renal artery, and 1 case of accessory renal artery with the diameter of 0. 1cm in the right renal was injured during surgery. The operation time, amount of bleeding, cases with vascular injury , renal warm ischemia time of donor , and the mean time of postoperative hospitalization in group A were superior to those in group B and group C. Conclusion CTA is a simple noninvasive imaging method, which can provide the details of the renal vascular preop-eratively to ensure the safety of patients during surgery and improve survival quality of donor renal, and it is of great advance in laparoscopic renal transplantation of living-related renal donors.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the effect of electro-acupuncture and musk injection on recovery of injured sciatic nerve function in rats, so as to provide the experimental evidences for the promotion of peripheral nerve regeneration by electro-acupuncture and musk injection. Methods: Following establishing rat model of sciatic nerve injury by operation, the rats were randomly divided into electro-acupuncture group, musk injection group, electro-acupuncture plus musk injection group and model group, then sciatic functional index (SFI) and motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) were measured after 4 weeks of treatment, 8 weeks of treatment and 12 weeks of treatment respectively to evaluate recovery of nerve function. Results: SFI and MNCV in electro-acupuncture group, musk injection group and electro-acupuncture plus musk injection group were improved more obviously than that in model group, with significant differences(P<0.01, P<0.05). Conclusions: Both electro-acupuncture and musk injection could promote recovery of injured nerve function, and they had a certain synergetic effect and might be the effective methods in promoting recovery of injured peripheral nerve function.
