ABSTRACT

Objective@# The goal of this study was to investigate the effect of the Toll-like receptor-4 (TLR-4) inhibitor TAK-242 on bone resorption in severe periodontitis in rats in order to provide an experimental basis for finding new adjuvant treatments for severe periodontitis.@*Methods @# Eighteen three-week-old male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups (n=6). One group was the control group, and the other two groups were modelled with severe periodontitis in bilateral maxillary molars ligated with 5-0 silk thread containing P. gingivalis ATCC33277 (periodontitis and TAK-242 groups, respectively). The TAK-242 group was injected with TAK-242 (2 mg/kg) in DMSO every other day through the tail vein from the first day of silk ligation, and the other two groups were injected with DMSO solvent at the same proportion of body weight for 8 consecutive weeks. At the end of the 8th week, rats in the 3 groups were sacrificed, and maxillary specimens were taken. Three-dimensional reconstruction was achieved after micro-CT scanning to measure the distance between the enamel cementum boundary and alveolar crest at specific sites to assess the amount of bone loss. The parameters related to alveolar bone and bone microstructure were analyzed, and the pathological changes of periodontal tissue were observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. Alveolar bone resorption was observed by Methyl Green staining, and the distribution of osteoclasts was observed by anti-tartrate acid phosphatase double staining (TRAP).@*Results@#Micro-CT quantitative analysis showed that alveolar bone resorption in the periodontitis group and TAK-242 group was significantly higher than that in the control group. Compared with the periodontitis group, bone loss of the mesial and distal root resorption sites of maxillary first molars was significantly reduced in the TAK-242 group (P < 0.001), the bone mineral density (P < 0.05) and bone volume/total volume fraction (P < 0.01) were significantly increased, and the number of trabeculae and the trabeculae thickness (P < 0.01) were relatively increased. The trabecular separation (P < 0.01) and trabecular structure model index were significantly decreased. In the periodontitis group, the bone exhibited a sparse and porous honeycomb structure, with deterioration of the trabecular structure and a shift towards a rod-strength structure. In the TAK-242 group, the bone microstructure was improved, the bone volume was enriched, the distribution of trabeculae was relatively denser and the trabecular structure shared more similarities with the control group. HE staining displayed that the attachment loss and bone absorption were significantly higher in the periodontitis group and TAK-242 group than in the control group. Compared with the periodontitis group, MG staining displayed significantly alleviated bone absorption in the TAK-242 group. TRAP staining showed that osteoclast infiltration decreased in the TAK-242 group compared with the periodontitis group (P < 0.001)@*Conclusions @#The TLR-4 inhibitor TAK-242 can alleviate bone resorption in severe periodontitis and improve the porous, sparse and disorganized inflammatory bone trabecular structure in rats.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Nucleolar protein 6 (NOL6) is a nucleolar RNA-associated protein that is highly conserved between species. It has been proved to be associated with the prognosis of liver cancer. However, the underlying mechanism has not been fully established. This study aimed to assess the relationship between NOL6 and liver cancer prognosis.@*METHODS@#We constructed an NOL6-short hairpin RNA (shRNA)-expressing lentivirus. Through viral transfection, cell growth assay and fluorescence-activated cell sorting, we evaluated the effect of shRNA-mediated NOL6 knockdown on the proliferation, colony formation, and apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. The relationship between NOL6 expression and HCC patient survival has been established through bioinformatics analysis. We also explored the downstream molecular regulatory network of NOL6 in HCC by performing an Ingenuity Pathway Analysis in the database.@*RESULTS@#Increased NOL6 expression was detected in HCC cells compared to normal controls; HCC patients with high NOL6 expression had poorer prognoses than those with low expression. NOL6 knockdown inhibited HCC cell proliferation, apoptosis, and colony formation. Also, MAPK8, CEBPA, and FOSL1 were selected as potential downstream genes of NOL6.@*CONCLUSIONS@#NOL6 up-regulates HCC cell proliferation and affects downstream expression of related genes. Moreover, NOL6 is considered to be associated with poor prognosis in HCC patients.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE Programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) and indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) are immune checkpoints which can be induced by interferon-γ(IFN-γ) in the tumor microenvironment, leading to immune escape of tumors. Myricetin (MY) is a flavonoid distributed in many edible and medicinal plants. The aim of this study is to clarify the effect and the mechanism of MY on inhibiting IFN-γ-induced PD-L1 and IDO1 in lung cancer cells. METHODS Expressions of PD-L1 and major histocompatibility complex-I (MHC-I) were evaluated by flow cytometry and Western blotting, and the expression of IDO1 was measured by Western blotting. qRT-PCR was used to detect their mRNA levels. The function of T cells was evaluated using a co-culture system consist of lung cancer cells and the Jurkat-PD-1 T cell line that overexpressing PD-1. Molecular docking analysis, Western blotting and immunofluorescence were used for mechanism study. RESULTS MY potently inhibited IFN-γ-induced PD-L1 and IDO1 expression in human lung cancer cells, while didn't show obvious effect on the expression of MHC-I. In addition, MY restored the survival, proliferation, CD69 expression and interleukin-2 (IL-2) secretion of Jurkat-PD-1 T cells suppressed by IFN-γ-treated lung cancer cells in the co-culture system. Mechanistically, IFN-γ up-regulated PD-L1 and IDO1 at the transcriptional level through the JAK-STAT-IRF1 axis, which was targeted and inhibited by MY. CONCLUSION Our research revealed a new insight into the anti-tumor effects of MY which inhibited IFN-γ-induced PD-L1 and IDO1 expression, supporting the potential of MY in anti-tumor immunotherapy.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the effects of exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (ER) on patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and to identify which type of ACS patients would benefit most in terms of cardiovascular functional capacity after ER. Methods:From December, 2017 to July, 2019, 31 ACS patients who discharged in a stable situation after PCI were studied. All patients were referred to a three-month ER program after discharge. They were divided into normal wall motion group (normal group, n = 14) and abnormal regional wall motion group (abnormal group, n = 17) according to baseline myocardial wall motion reported by echocardiography. The degree of wall motion abnormalities was quantified by the wall motion score index (WMSI). Echocardiography and cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) were performed before and after ER. Results:Eight patients were dropped, and 23 patients completed the trial. WMSI decreased in the abnormal group (Z = -2.852, P = 0.004), and the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) didn't change in both groups (P > 0.05) after ER. CPET showed that the heart rate at rest decreased in the normal group after ER (t = -2.268, P = 0.047); and the peak work rate, peak oxygen uptake, percentage of predicted value of peak oxygen uptake, peak minute ventilation and the third minute heart rate recovery increased in the abnormal group after ER (t > 2.739, P < 0.05). Conclusion:ER during recovery period could help more improve the cardiac function and exercise tolerance of ACS patients with abnormal WMSI after PCI. WMSI is an important indicator of cardiac function in ACS patients with preserved ejection fraction.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To create a prediction model that could be used to stratify the risk of cardiac rehabilitation in patients with stable coronary artery disease by using test data based on cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) and general clinical data. Methods:A total of 114 patients with stable coronary artery disease were consecutively enrolled from the Cardiology Coronary Artery Disease Database of our hospital from December, 2014 to December, 2018, all the patients underwent CPET before coronary angiography. LASSO was used for feature selection. A nomogram was formulated based on the results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis using the RMS package of R. The predictive power was assessed with Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve. Results:Seven predictors were identified based on LASSO: coronary angiography results, the maximum value of ventilatory equivalent for carbon dioxide (EqCO2max), lymphocyte count, fasting blood glucose levels, cardiac muscle enzyme positivity, blood homocysteine and blood urea nitrogen levels. Combined with clinical experience and weighting analysis, the final four factors were included for Logistic regression modeling: coronary angiography results, EqCO2max, lymphocyte count and fasting blood glucose levels. The area under the curve was 0.875 for the model. Conclusion:EqCO2max and lymphocyte count are key predictors for stable coronary heart disease and can be used to identify patients at high risk for cardiac rehabilitation. A risk stratification model based on CPET and laboratory tests can be used to assess risk stratification for cardiac rehabilitation in patients with stable coronary artery disease.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical features of acute hepatitis E (AHE) patients with or without severe jaundice and the risk factors for severe jaundice. MethodsA retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of 179 AHE patients who were admitted to Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center Affiliated to Fudan University from January 1, 2018 to March 26, 2020. According to whether total bilirubin (TBil) was >171 μmol/L, the patients were divided into AHE-mild jaundice (AHE-M) group and AHE-severe jaundice (AHE-S) group, and the two groups were compared in terms of clinical data and laboratory markers. The t test or the Mann-Whitney U test or the chi-squared test was used for comparison, and a binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify independent risk factors. ResultsOf all 179 patients, 101 (56.42%) were found to have severe jaundice. Compared with the AHE-M group, the AHE-S group had a significantly higher proportion of male patients (80.20% vs 61.54%, χ2=7.612, P=0.006), a significantly longer length of hospital stay [29 (19-45) days vs 18 (14-22) days, Z=-6.035, P<0.001], a significantly higher number of patients with liver failure (23 vs 0, χ2=18.373, P<0.001), and a significantly poorer prognosis (P<0.001). Compared with the AHE-M group, the AHE-S group had significantly higher baseline anti-HEV-IgM, alpha-fetoprotein, and liver elasticity (Z=-3.534, -3.588, and -4.496, all P<0.001), significantly lower baseline CD4 (Z=-2.015, P<0.05), significantly higher peak values of TBil, direct bilirubin, creatinine, prothrombin time, international normalized ratio, and absolute neutrophil count (Z=-11.016, -10.926, -2.726, -4.787, -4.989, and -6.016, all P<0.01), a significantly lower peak value of gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) (Z=-4.55, P<0001), and significantly lower valley values of albumin, prealbumin (PA), and absolute lymphocyte count (Z=-4.685, -5.087, and -4.818, all P<0.001). The logistic regression analysis showed that anti-HEV-IgM (odds ratio [OR]=1.022, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1005-1.039, P=0.012), GGT (OR=0.995, 95%CI: 0.993-0.998, P=0.001), PA (OR=0.991, 95%CI: 0.983-0.999, P=0.02), and neutrophils (OR=1.486, 95%CI: 1.169-1.889, P=0.001) were independent risk factors for severe jaundice in AHE patients. ConclusionThere is a relatively high proportion of male patients among the AHE patients with severe jaundice, with a long length of hospital stay, a large number of patients with liver failure, and poor prognosis. Anti-HEV-IgM, GGT, PA, and neutrophils are independent risk factors for severe jaundice in AHE patients.

@#Objective    To summarize the use of harmonic scalpel to harvest bilateral internal mammary artery in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Methods    The clinical data of 54 patients of bilateral skeletonized internal mammary artery harvesting for CABG in our hospital from January 2016 to May 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. There were 51 males and 3 females with a mean age of 62.37±9.56 years. Results    All patients went through the procedure unevently and discharged from hospital. The number of grafts was 4.07±0.85 per patient, the operation time was 267.21±47.00 min, mechanical ventilation time was 342.43±132.17 min and hospital stay was 12.21±4.43 d. Conclusion    It is safe and effective to use harmonic scalpel to harvest skeletonized bilateral internal mammary artery in CABG.

ABSTRACT

Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is a common serious complication of end-stage liver disease. Intestinal microecology is closely associated with the development, progression, and prognosis of SBP, and bacterial translocation is the key pathogenesis of SBP. This article summarizes the intestinal microecology in patients with liver cirrhosis and briefly describes the mechanism of action of intestinal flora in the development and progression of SBP, thus providing a theoretical basis for the clinical regulation of intestinal microecology and treatment of SBP.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) is associated with high neonatal morbidity and mortality. However, the influences of cesarean section (CS) on neonatal outcomes in preterm pregnancies complicated with PPROM are not well elucidated. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of delivery modes on neonatal outcomes among pregnant women with PPROM.@*METHODS@#A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted in 39 public hospitals in 14 cities in the mainland of China from January 1st, 2011 to December 31st, 2011. A total of 2756 singleton pregnancies complicated with PPROM were included. Adverse neonatal outcomes including early neonatal death, birth asphyxia, respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), pneumonia, infection, birth trauma, and 5-min/10-min Apgar scores were obtained from the hospital records. Binary variables and ordinal variables were respectively calculated by binary logistic regressions and ordinal regression. Numerical variables were compared by multiple linear regressions.@*RESULTS@#In total, 2756 newborns were involved in the analysis. Among them, 1166 newborns (42.31%) were delivered by CS and 1590 newborns belonged to vaginal delivery (VD) group. The CS proportion of PPROM obviously increased with the increase of gestational age (χ = 5.014, P = 0.025). Compared with CS group, VD was associated with a higher risk of total newborns mortality (odds ratio [OR], 2.38; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.102-5.118; P = 0.027), and a lower level of pneumonia (OR, 0.32; 95% CI, 0.126-0.811; P = 0.016). However, after multivariable adjustment and stratification for gestational age, only pneumonia was significantly related with CS in 28 to 34 weeks group (OR, 0.34; 95% CI, 0.120-0.940; P = 0.038). There were no differences regarding to other adverse outcomes in the two groups, including neonatal mortality, birth asphyxia, Apgar scores, RDS, pneumonia, and sepsis.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The proportion of CS of pregnant women with PPROM was very high in China. The mode of delivery does not affect neonatal outcomes of pregnancies complicated with PPROM.

@#AIM: To evaluate the effects and complications of retractor repair combined with a lateral tarsal strip procedure and retractor repair alone for treating lower eyelid involutional entropion.<p>METHODS: This was a prospective study. Totally 79 cases(91 eyes)with involutional lower eyelid entropion who were hospitalized from January 2015 to February 2018 were divided randomly into observation group(41 cases 46 eyes, underwent combined procedure)and control group(38 cases 45 eyes, underwent retractor repair procedure). The clinical effects and the complications of the two groups were compared.<p>RESULTS: At 3mo postoperatively, there was no significant difference in the clinical effective rate(100% <i>vs</i> 98%, <i>P</i>=0.495)between the two groups. At 24mo postoperatively, the observation group had a higher clinical effective rate(98% <i>vs </i>84%, <i>P</i>=0.030). There were no complications occurred in the observation group, significantly fewer than the control group(11%,<i> P</i>=0.026).<p>CONCLUSION: Compare to retractor repair procedure, the combined procedure has a higher clinical effective rate and a lower complications rate.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE@#To evaluate the efficacy of closed reduction on the humeroradial joint in the treatment of Bado type Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ fresh Monteggia fractures in children and investigate the effect of clinical factors, including Bado classification, age and time of treatment on the success rate of closed reduction.@*METHODS@#We retrospectively studied the data of children ≤10 years old with fresh Monteggia fractures (injury within two weeks) treated by manual reduction with plaster immobilization from January 2014 to April 2019. All patients were followed up in the outpatient department every two weeks for 4-6 weeks until plaster removal and then 3, 6 and 12 months. Online or telephone interview was provided for some inconvenient patients after 6 months. Mackay criteria were used to evaluate the clinical effect. Radiographic data were collected and reviewed to assess the reduction of the humeroradial joint. Function of the elbow joint and forearm was evaluated and risk factors related to the failure of reduction were assessed. The successful manual reduction was analyzed from three aspects, respectively Bado fracture type (Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ), patient age (6 years) and time interval from injury to treatment (group A, 3 days).@*RESULTS@#Altogether 88 patients were employed in this study, including 58 males (65.9%) and 30 females (34.1%) aged from 1 to 10 years. There were 29 cases (33.0%) of Bado type Ⅰ Monteggia fractures, 16 (18.2%) type Ⅱ and 43 (48.7%) type Ⅲ. Successful manual reduction was achieved in 79 children (89.8%) at the last follow-up. The failed 9 patients received open surgery. Mackay criteria showed 100% good-excellent rate for all the patients. The success rate of manual reduction was 89.7%, 87.5% and 90.7% in Bado type Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ cases, respectively, revealing no significant differences among different Bado types (χ = 0.131, p = 0.937). Successful closed reduction was achieved in 13 toddlers (13/13, 100%), 38 preschool children (28/42, 90.5%) and 28 school-age children (28/33, 84.8%), suggesting no significant difference either (χ = 2.375, p = 0.305). However time interval from injury to treatment showed that patients treated within 3 days had a much higher rate of successful manual reduction: 67 cases (67/71, 94.4%) in group A, 10 cases (10/11, 90.9%) in group B, and 2 cases (2/6, 33.3%) in group C (χ = 22.464, p < 0.001). Fisher's test further showed significant differences between groups A and C (p = 0.001) and groups B and C (p = 0.028).@*CONCLUSION@#Closed reduction is a safe and effective method for treating fresh Monteggia fractures in children. The reduction should be conducted as soon as possible once the diagnosis has been made.

ABSTRACT

Nagilactone E (NLE), a natural product with anticancer activities, is isolated from Podocarpus nagi. In this study, we reported that NLE increased programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expressions at both protein and mRNA levels in human lung cancer cells, and enhanced its localization on the cell membrane. Mechanistically, NLE increased the phosphorylation and expression of c-Jun, and promoted the localization of c-Jun in the nucleus, while silencing of c-Jun by small interfering RNA (siRNA) reduced NLE-induced PD-L1. Further study showed that NLE activated the c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK), the upstream of c-Jun, and its inhibitor SP600125 reversed the NLE-increased PD-L1. Moreover, NLE-induced PD-L1 increased the binding intensity of PD-1 on the cell surface. In summary, NLE upregulates the expression of PD-L1 in lung cancer cells through the activation of JNK-c-Jun axis, which has the potential to combine with the PD-1/PD-L1 antibody therapies in lung cancer.

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the incidence of severe neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and the management on the treatment and follow-up of this disease in Jiangsu Province, China.@*METHODS@#The neonates with severe hyperbilirubinemia who were admitted to 13 hospitals in Jiangsu Province from January to December, 2018, were enrolled as subjects. A retrospective analysis was performed on their mediacal data and follow-up data.@*RESULTS@#In 2018, 740 neonates with severe hyperbilirubinemia were reported from the 13 hospitals in Jiangsu Province, accounting for 2.70% (740/27 386) of the total number of neonates admitted to the department of neonatology. Among these neonates, 620 (83.8%) had severe hyperbilirubinemia, 106 (14.3%) had extremely severe hyperbilirubinemia, and 14 (1.9%) had hazardous hyperbilirubinemia. Four neonates (0.5%) were diagnosed with acute bilirubin encephalopathy. A total of 484 neonates (65.4%) were readmitted due to severe hyperbilirubinemia after discharge from the delivery institution, with a median age of 7 days, among whom 214 (44.2%) were followed up for jaundice at the outpatient service before readmission, with a median age of 6 days at the first time of outpatient examination. During hospitalization, 211 neonates (28.5%) underwent cranial MRI examinations, among whom 85 (40.3%) had high T1WI signal in the bilateral basal ganglia and the globus pallidus; 238 neonates (32.2%) underwent brainstem auditory evoked potential examinations, among whom 14 (5.9%) passed only at one side and 7 (2.9%) failed at both sides. The 17 neonates with acute bilirubin encephalopathy or hazardous hyperbilirubinemia were followed up. Except one neonate was lost to follow-up, and there were no abnormal neurological symptoms in the other neonates.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Neonates with severe hyperbilirubinemia account for a relatively high proportion of the total number of neonates in the department of neonatology. Jaundice monitoring and management after discharge from delivery institutions need to be strengthened. For neonates with severe hyperbilirubinemia, relevant examinations should be carried out more comprehensively during hospitalization and these neonates should be followed up comprehensively and systematically after discharge.

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the risk factors of anxiety and depression in patients with suspected coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) so as to achieve early intervention and better clinical prognosis.@*METHODS@#Seventy-six patients with suspected COVID-19 in fever isolation wards of Second Hospital of Lanzhou University were enrolled From January 31, 2020 to February 22, 2020. Their clinical baseline data were collected. The anxiety of patients was assessed by Hamilton Anxiety Scale, and the depression of patients was assessed by Hamilton Depression Scale. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the risk factors of anxiety and depression in these patients.@*RESULTS@#Female patients are more likely to have anxiety (=3.206, 95%: 1.073-9.583, <0.05) and depression (=9.111, 95%: 2.143-38.729, <0.01) than male patients; patients with known contact history of epidemic area and personnel in epidemic area are more likely to have depression (=3.267, 95%: 1.082-9.597, <0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#During the isolation treatment of suspected COVID-19 patients, early psychological intervention should be carried out for the female patients with known contact history of epidemic area and personnel in epidemic area, and drug treatment should be given in advance if necessary.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To confirm that acupuncture applied to patients would improve the clinical curative effect and accelerate the patient's recovery by introducing the application of acupuncture in pre-operation, during operation, and post-operation.@*DATA SOURCES@#Literature cited in this review was retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and was primarily published in English or Chinese from 2010 to 2018, with keywords of "acupuncture," "electroacupuncture," "perioperative period," "sedation," "analgesia," and "recovery." Relevant citations in the retrieved articles were also screened to include more data.@*STUDY SELECTION@#All retrieved literature was scrutinized, most typical articles related on perioperative acupuncture application in clinical study were reviewed.@*RESULTS@#Acupuncture could relieve anxiety and stress during the preoperative stage. It reduces the usage of narcotics and stress response, and maintains the respiratory stability and homeostasis during surgery. It also exerts a protective effect on vital organs, and during the postoperative stages, enhances the recovery while effectively alleviating the postoperative pain. This phenomenon prevents common postoperative discomforts such as nausea and vomiting. In addition, it might improve the patients' long-term prognosis.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The novel concept "perioperative acupuncture medicine" is to focus on the optimal treatment in the perioperative period of surgical patients. The review reveals the important role of acupuncture in enhancing rapid recovery of patients during the perioperative period.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the effects of micronutrient supplementation for the elderly on plasma homocysteine level and cognitive function in institutional older adults.@*Methods@#A total of 98 older adults with the score≤11 by mini nutritional assessment short-form aged 65-100 years were enrolled and assigned to either intervention group or control group (n=49 each), with either a package of micronutrient pack or placebo daily, for three months. Fasting blood samples were collected both at baseline and the end of study to detect serum vitamin B12, folate and plasma homocysteine (Hcy) concentrations. Global cognitive function was assessed using the mini-mental state examination (MMSE). The paired t test was used to compare the continuous variables between the two groups after intervention. The relationship between changes in MMSE score and changes in plasma Hcy concentrations was examined by least-squares linear regression.@*Results@#Eighty-two patients completed the study, and 17 patients withdrew from the study due to diarrhea and hospital discharge with the drop rate of 17.3%. Compared to the control group, concentrations of serum vitamin B12 (128.8±34.8 vs 13.3±16.0 pmol/L, P=0.003) and folate (21.1±1.6 vs 0.6±0.5 nmol/L, P<0.01) significantly increased in the intervention group over 3-month supplementation, while plasma Hcy levels were remarkably reduced (-5.3±0.7 vs 1.7±0.3 μmol/L, P<0.01). The incidences of deficiency of folate, deficiency of serum vitamin B12and high Hcy all decreased in intervention group. Although individual item scores in MMSE were not changed markedly, change of total MMSE score in intervention group were higher than that in the control group (1.2±3.0 vs -0.2±2.5, P<0.05).@*Conclusions@#The supplementation of the micronutrient pack in long-term care facilities can reduce the incidence of hyperhomocysteinemia, and improve the total MMSE score.

ABSTRACT

A20 (also known as TNFAIP3 ) is a zinc finger which can be activated by a variety of inflammatory factors such protein with both ubiquitination and deubiquitination functions, as LPS, IL-1 and TNF-α. To date, A20 has been considered a negative regulator of NF-kB with immunomodulatory effects. And the latest researches have shown the involvement of A20 in the occurrence and development of various allergic diseases. This article reviews the origin, structure, and biological functions of A20 and its role in allergic asthma, through which new methods and ideas might be enlightened for the treatment and prevention of allergic asthma.
