ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of herb-partitioned moxibustion on the navel combined with Yishen Tongluo prescription in the treatment of infertility induced by idiopathic asthenozoospermia (iAZS) with kidney-Yang deficiency and collateral obstruction syndrome and its effect on sperm DNA damage and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the seminal plasma. MethodsA total of 112 eligible patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into an observation group (56 cases) and a control group (56 cases). The patients in the observation group were treated with herb-partitioned moxibustion on the navel combined with Yishen Tongluo prescription, while those in the control group received levocarnitine oral liquid. The primary observation indicators included spouse pregnancy rate, progressive motility (PR),and total sperm motility, and the secondary observation indicators included sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI),SOD in the seminal plasma, and improvement of TCM syndromes. The treatment cycle was 12 weeks. Before and after treatment, the PR,total sperm motility, sperm DFI,SOD in the seminal plasma, and TCM syndrome scores were recorded. The patients were followed up for 12 weeks and the pregnancy status of spouses within 24 weeks (half a year) was recorded. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated. ResultThe pregnancy rate of spouses in the observation group was 15.69% (8/51), higher than 3.85% (2/52) in the control group (χ2=4.118,P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was 88.24%(45/51), superior to 69.23% (36/52)in the control group (Z=-3.402,P<0.01). After treatment, PR, total sperm motility, sperm DFI, SOD in the seminal plasma, and TCM syndromes of the two groups were improved compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the observation group was superior to the control group (P<0.05). ConclusionHerb-partitioned moxibustion on the navel combined with Yishen Tongluo prescription in the treatment of iAZS-induced infertility patients with kidney-Yang deficiency and collateral obstruction syndrome can increase PR,total sperm motility, and SOD level in the seminal plasma, reduce sperm DFI,improve the TCM symptoms of patients, and improve the pregnancy rate of spouses. The mechanism may be attributed to the fact that this treatment can increase the SOD level in the seminal plasma of patients, enhance the body's antioxidant function, protect sperm from oxidative stress damage, and reduce sperm DFI.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze potential roles of mechanical stress in the formation of plantar melanoma. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 129 cases of plantar melanoma in Xiangya Hospital, Central South University between 2014 and 2021, and the distribution and clinical characteristics of plantar melanoma were analyzed. The goodness-of-fit test was used to compare the distribution of plantar melanoma between weight-bearing areas (the toes, forefoot, lateral midfoot, heel) and non-weight-bearing areas of the foot (the arch) , while t test, Fisher′s exact test and Wilcoxon rank sum test were used to analyze differences in clinicopathological characteristics of plantar melanoma between weight-bearing areas and non-weight-bearing areas of the foot. Results:Among the 129 patients with plantar melanoma, 66 (51.2%) were males and 63 (48.8%) were females, and their age at onset was 60.6 ± 13.1 years. Plantar melanoma mostly occurred on the heel (65 lesions, 1.31 lesions per square centimeter) , followed by the forefoot (31 lesions, 0.41 lesions per square centimeter) , the bottom of the toes (15 lesions, 0.43 lesions per square centimeter) , lateral midfoot (11 lesions, 0.38 lesions per square centimeter) and the arch of foot (7 lesions, 0.16 lesions per square centimeter) . The goodness-of-fit test showed that melanoma was more prone to occur in the weight-bearing areas than in the non-weight-bearing areas ( χ2 = 66.59, P < 0.001) ; compared with the arch of foot, a higher incidence density was observed in the heel and forefoot ( χ2 = 38.29, 5.23, P < 0.001, = 0.022, respectively) . There were no significant differences in the gender ratio, age and occupation of patients, prevalence rates of left/right foot involvement, Breslow thickness, ulceration status, Clark grades, lymph node metastasis rate, and stages between melanomas in the weight-bearing areas and those in non-weight-bearing areas (all P > 0.05) . Conclusion:Plantar melanoma was more prone to occur in the weight-bearing areas than in the non-weight-bearing areas, suggesting that mechanical stress may be related to the occurrence and development of melanoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the risk factors for 30-day death in emergency department patients, and then construct a prediction model and validate it using nomogram. Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted. The clinical data of 1 091 patients admitted to the emergency department of the First People's Hospital of Changde from January 1 to June 30, 2021 was collected, including 741 patients from January 1 to March 31 in the development group and 350 patients from April 1 to June 30 in the validation group. General information, first vital signs admitted to the emergency department, and laboratory results were collected, the modified early warning score (MEWS) was calculated, and 30-day outcomes were recorded. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to screen out the risk factors of 30-day death. According to the results of multivariate analysis, the nomogram was used to construct a 30-day death prediction model. The receiver operator characteristic curve (ROC curve) was used to evaluate the consistency of the prediction model, the calibration of the prediction model was evaluated by the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness of fit test. Results:A total of 1 091 patients were enrolled. There were 741 patients in the development group, including 356 males and 385 females, aged (51.42±17.33) years old, and the 30-day mortality was 28.88%. There were 350 patients in the validation group, including 188 males and 162 females, aged (52.88±16.11) years old, and the 30-day mortality was 24.00%. The results of the univariate analysis showed that age, primary diagnosis on admission, consciousness, respiratory rate (RR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), heart rate (HR), pulse oxygen saturation (SpO 2), MEWS score, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), procalcitonin (PCT) and body mass index (BMI) might be the risk factors for 30-day death in patients in the emergency department. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that the MEWS score [odds ratio ( OR) = 14.22, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) was 1.46-138.12], ESR ( OR = 46.71, 95% CI was 20.48-106.53), PCT ( OR = 4.97, 95% CI was 2.46-10.02), BMI (24.0-27.9 kg/m 2: OR = 37.82, 95% CI was 14.69-97.36; ≥28.0 kg/m 2: OR = 62.11, 95% CI was 25.77-149.72) were independent risk factors for 30-day death in the emergency department (all P < 0.05). Using the four variables with the results of multivariate analysis to construct a nomogram prediction model, the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.974 (95% CI was 0.753-0.983) for the development group, and the AUC was 0.963 (95% CI was 0.740-0.975) for the validation group. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test showed no statistically significant difference between the predicted outcome of the nomogram prediction model and the actual occurrence ( χ2 = 1.216, P = 1.270). Conclusion:The prediction model developed by the MEWS score combined with BMI, ESR and PCT can scientifically and effectively predict the 30-day outcome of emergency department patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To analyze the effectiveness, safety and factors influencing the clinical prognosis of patients with hypopharyngeal carcinoma in T4b by nonsurgical treatments. Methods: The clinical data of 77 patients with T4b hypopharyngeal cancer treated in the College of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital from January 2010 to June 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. All were males, aged(57.0±8.0)years old. Patients were treated with induction chemotherapy plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Kaplan Meier survival analysis was used to compare the effects of different factors on prognosis. Adverse reactions during treatments and the causes of death were analyzed. Results: 98.7% of 77 patients with T4b hypopharyngeal cancer completed the chemotherapy plan and 94.8% completed the radiotherapy plan. The most common adverse reactions were grade 2 radiation oral mucositis (50/77, 64.9%) and grade 2 leukopenia (50/77, 64.9%). The incidence of grade 3 severe hoarseness was 7.8% (6/77), one patient (1.3%) underwent gastrostomy due to dysphagia, and pronunciation and swallowing function were effectively preserved in other patients. The overall survival rate was 71.9% at 1 year, 45.6% at 3 years and 29.7% at 5 years. The location of tumor, the presence of liquefaction necrosis in tumor, the use of molecular targeted drugs and the approach of radiotherapy were independent factors, each of which that affected the prognosis of T4b patients with advanced hypopharyngeal cancer [HR (95%CI) were 1.867(1.085-3.213), 3.018 (1.437-6.335), 0.372 (0.181-0.764) and 2.158 (1.015-4.588), respectively, P<0.05]. The two leading causes of death with high incidence were disease recurrence (12/32, 37.5%) and cervical large vessel rupture and hemorrhage (11/32, 34.4%). Conclusions: Non-surgical comprehensive treatment offers a high laryngeal preservation rate in patients with T4b hypopharyngeal cancer. The location of tumor, the liquefaction necrosis within tumor, the use of molecular targeted drugs, and the approach of radiotherapy are independent prognostic factors.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To assess the value of 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging and relevant factors in the interim therapeutic and prognostic evaluation of primary gastrointestinal lymphoma (PGIL) patients. Methods:From January 2008 to January 2018, 41 patients with B-cell PGIL (24 males, 17 females; age: 26-84 years) confirmed by pathology in Shanghai General Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine were retrospectively included. 18F-FDG PET/CT was performed before chemotherapy and radiotherapy and after 3-4 courses of chemotherapy. There were 17 cases of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma and 24 cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the differences of metabolic parameters (SUV max, metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG)) before treatment between MALT lymphoma and DLBCL patients. ROC curve analysis was used to analyze the predictive abilities of different parameters for progression-free survival (PFS), and Cox regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors for PFS. Results:The median follow-up time of 41 patients was 25 (6-84) months, with the 3-year PFS rate of 55.9% and the overall survival (OS) rate of 80.2%. The baseline SUV max (23.2±11.9), MTV (260.7(66.2, 740.7) cm 3) and TLG (1 902.9(592.2, 8 418.1) g) in DLBCL were significantly higher than those in MALT lymphoma (7.9(6.2, 9.8), 45.9(28.4, 104.2) cm 3, 121.1(72.8, 295.6) g; z values: -4.02, -3.10, -3.92, all P<0.05). ΔSUV max in DLBCL patients (AUC=0.80, P=0.012), ΔSUV max% (AUC=0.89, P=0.007; AUC=0.80, P=0.012), ΔMTV%(AUC=0.91, P=0.005; AUC=0.77, P=0.026) and ΔTLG% (AUC=0.87, P=0.011; AUC=0.77, P=0.026) in MALT lymphoma and DLBCL patients before and after treatment were predictive factors of PFS. Multivariate analysis showed that ΔSUV max% was an independent factor for PFS of MALT lymphoma (hazard ratio ( HR)=17.192, 95% CI: 2.035-145.245, P=0.009), while ΔMTV% and ΔTLG% were factors for PFS of DLBCL (both HR=7.556, 95% CI: 1.968-29.016, P=0.003). Conclusions:There are significant differences in metabolic parameters between MALT lymphoma and DLBCL before treatment. Interim PET/CT is effective for the prediction of prognosis of MALT lymphoma and DLBCL.

ABSTRACT

The key factors for producing the best quality Chinese herbal medicines are high-quality germplasm, suitable cultivation area and the proper processing methods for herbal raw materials. Gentiana crassicaulis in Gentiana (Sect. Cruciata), Gentianaceae is one of the original plants of the Chinese herb Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix), and its type specimen was collected in Lijiang, Yunnan. There is a long planting history of the herb in this area. In this study a sampling plot was designated in these traditional planting areas. G. crassicaulis was planted and herbal raw materials were harvested from the plot. The raw materials were prepared locally and at a pharmaceutical factory in Shanghai using processing methods such as "sweating" or "no sweating", "slicing" or "no slicing" (whole root), and "stoving" or "no stoving" (air drying). The quality of all processed samples was evaluated. In addition, molecular markers were determined for identifying cultivated and wild samples from Lijiang, Yunnan. The results are as follows: ① Samples from the sampling plot and the field are taxonomically identified as Gentiana crassicaulis. ② A total of 270 sequences of trnC-GCA-petN, atpB-rbcL, psbN, ndhB-rps7 and ycf1 were obtained, and three genotypes were determined from the cultivated samples; the type III was shared by both cultivated and wild plants. Based on the molecular markers, a DNA barcoding method to identify cultivated and wild samples of G. crassicaulis from Lijiang, Yunnan was established. ③ Total content of loganic acid and gentiopicroside in all samples was ≥ 2.5%, and above the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2020) limit. ④ In HPLC fingerprinting, 9 common peaks were assigned and similarity between all samples was > 0.999; and ⑤ In a PCA score plot all slice samples were clustered, while whole root samples were scattered. Therefore, our studies could provide basic data for optimizing the processing method, producing best quality Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, and evaluating the quality of different ecotype varieties and the multiple origin of herbal medicines.

ABSTRACT

Previous studies suggest that the reduction of SMAD3 (mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 3) has a great impact on tumor development, but its exact pathological function remains unclear. In this study, we found that the protein level of SMAD3 was greatly reduced in human-grade IV glioblastoma tissues, in which LAMP2A (lysosome-associated membrane protein type 2A) was significantly up-regulated. LAMP2A is a key rate-limiting protein of chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA), a lysosome pathway of protein degradation that is activated in glioma. We carefully analyzed the amino-acid sequence of SMAD3 and found that it contained a pentapeptide motif biochemically related to KFERQ, which has been proposed to be a targeting sequence for CMA. In vitro, we confirmed that SMAD3 was degraded in either serum-free or KFERQ motif deleted condition, which was regulated by LAMP2A and interacted with HSC70 (heat shock cognate 71 kDa protein). Using isolated lysosomes, amino-acid residues 75 and 128 of SMAD3 were found to be of importance for this process, which affected the CMA pathway in which SMAD3 was involved. Similarly, down-regulating SMAD3 or up-regulating LAMP2A in cultured glioma cells enhanced their proliferation and invasion. Taken together, these results suggest that excessive activation of CMA regulates glioma cell growth by promoting the degradation of SMAD3. Therefore, targeting the SMAD3-LAMP2A-mediated CMA-lysosome pathway may be a promising approach in anti-cancer therapy.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#To investigate the clinical treatment outcomes and the changes of the outcomes over time in extremely preterm twins in Guangdong Province, China.@*METHODS@#A retrospective analysis was performed for 269 pairs of extremely preterm twins with a gestational age of <28 weeks who were admitted to the department of neonatology in 26 grade A tertiary hospitals in Guangdong Province from January 2008 to December 2017. According to the admission time, they were divided into two groups: 2008-2012 and 2013-2017. Besides, each pair of twins was divided into the heavier infant and the lighter infant subgroups according to birth weight. The perinatal data of mothers and hospitalization data of neonates were collected. The survival rate of twins and the incidence rate of complications were compared between the 2008-2012 and 2013-2017 groups.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the 2008-2012 group, the 2013-2017 group (both the heavier infant and lighter infant subgroups) had lower incidence rates of severe asphyxia and smaller head circumference at birth (P<0.05). The mortality rates of both of the twins, the heavier infant of the twins, and the lighter infant of the twins were lower in the 2013-2017 group compared with the 2008-2012 group (P<0.05). Compared with the 2008-2012 group, the 2013-2017 group (both the heavier infant and lighter infant subgroups) had lower incidence rates of pulmonary hemorrhage, patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), periventricular-intraventricular hemorrhage (P-IVH), and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS) and a higher incidence rate of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#There is a significant increase in the survival rate over time in extremely preterm twins with a gestational age of <28 weeks in the 26 grade A tertiary hospitals in Guangdong Province. The incidences of severe asphyxia, pulmonary hemorrhage, PDA, P-IVH, and NRDS decrease in both the heavier and lighter infants of the twins, but the incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia increases. With the improvement of diagnosis and treatment, the multidisciplinary collaboration between different fields of fetal medicine including prenatal diagnosis, obstetrics, and neonatology is needed in the future to jointly develop management strategies for twin pregnancy.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics of children with atopic dermatitis (AD) and the changes in serum levels of apolipoprotein A1 (Apo A1), 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] and eosinophil derived neurotoxin (EDN).Methods:200 children with AD treated in Zhuzhou Central Hospital from January 2016 to December 2019 were selected retrospectively as AD group and 100 healthy children as control group. The clinical characteristics of children with AD were analyzed, and the differences in serum Apo A1, 25 (OH)D and EDN levels between two groups were compared. The relationships between serum Apo A1, 25(OH)D, EDN levels and severity of AD were explored. Results:The male to female composition ratio of 200 AD patients was 1.41∶1, and the age of onset <3 months was the highest (64.50%). Inhalation allergens were detected in 118 cases (59.00%) and ingestion allergens in 82 cases (41.00%). The levels of Apo A1 and EDN in AD group were significantly higher than those in control group, while the level of 25(OH)D was significantly lower than that in control group ( P<0.05). With the aggravation of the disease, the serum Apo A1 and EDN levels in AD children increased gradually, while the serum 25(OH)D level decreased significantly (all P<0.05). Severity Scoring of Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) was positively correlated with Apo A1 and EDN levels ( P<0.05), and was negatively correlated with 25(OH)D level (all P<0.05). Conclusions:Apo A1, 25 (OH)D and EDN are involved in the pathogenesis of AD in children, and their serum levels are closely related to the severity of AD.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To measure the space of motion of index finger with and without injury, to apply it in rehabilitation. Methods:Thirty healthy undergraduate volunteers (controls) and three undergraduate volunteers with recent index finger injury (patients) were asked to flex, extend, adduct, abduct and ring the index finger independently and combined with middle finger, twice for a motion with an interval of 30 seconds. The index finger movement trajectory was recorded with a high-definition camera, and analyzed the range of flexion, extension, adduction, abduction and ring rotation motion with MATLAB. The movement space and defect of the injured fingers were drawn. Results:The ranges of independent flexion-extension and adduction-abduction reduced 26.5% and 24.6% in the patients compared with those of the controls, respectively. The defects of ring rotation space were very different with the degrees of recovery, and the maximum loss happened on 160°, 70° and 170°. Conclusion:Loss in index fingers motion space in range and direction may help for rehabilitation assessment.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the hepatorenoprotective effects of Origanum vulgare L. against finasteride-induced oxidative injury in the liver and kidney of mice. Methods: Liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS) analysis was utilized to yield a fingerprint of Origanum vulgare polyphenolic constituents. Thirty BALB/c mice received 0.5 mL/day distilled water, finasteride (25 mg/kg/day for 10 d), and 100, 200, or 400 mg/kg/day finasteride + Origanum vulgare extract with 6 mice per group for five weeks. On day 36, liver and kidney function as well as pro- and anti-inflammatory (IFN-γ, IL-12, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-10) cytokines were measured. The total antioxidant status, nitric oxide (NO), and malondialdehyde levels as well as the activities of NO synthase and catalase were also evaluated. Histopathological study was conducted to assess the effect of Origanum vulgare extract on finasteride-induced renal and hepatic toxicities. Results: Twenty-five major polyphenolic compounds were identified in the Origanum vulgare extract by LC-ESI/MS. Origanum vulgare extract, especially at 200 and 400 mg/kg/day doses, significantly improved liver and kidney biochemical indices, decreased inflammatory cytokines, increased total antioxidant status and NO synthase and catalase activities, as well as decreased plasma NO and malondialdehyde levels in a dose-dependent manner as compared to the finasteride group. Histopathological results further confirmed the protective effect of Origanum vulgare extract. Conclusions: Origanum vulgare extract ameliorates finasteride-induced hepatic and renal biochemical and histopathological alterations, and restores antioxidant/oxidant balance.

ABSTRACT

Epilepsy is a brain condition characterized by the recurrence of unprovoked seizures. Recent studies have shown that complement component 3 (C3) aggravate the neuronal injury in epilepsy. And our previous studies revealed that TRPV1 (transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1) is involved in epilepsy. Whether complement C3 regulation of neuronal injury is related to the activation of TRPV1 during epilepsy is not fully understood. We found that in a mouse model of status epilepticus (SE), complement C3 derived from astrocytes was increased and aggravated neuronal injury, and that TRPV1-knockout rescued neurons from the injury induced by complement C3. Circular RNAs are abundant in the brain, and the reduction of circRad52 caused by complement C3 promoted the expression of TRPV1 and exacerbated neuronal injury. Mechanistically, disorders of neuron-glia interaction mediated by the C3-TRPV1 signaling pathway may be important for the induction of neuronal injury. This study provides support for the hypothesis that the C3-TRPV1 pathway is involved in the prevention and treatment of neuronal injury and cognitive disorders.

ABSTRACT

Cathepsin D (CTSD), the major lysosomal aspartic protease that is widely expressed in different tissues, potentially regulates the biological behaviors of various cells. Follicular granulosa cells are responsive to the increase of ovulation number, hence indirectly influencing litter size. However, the mechanism underlying the effect of CTSD on the behaviors of goat granulosa cells has not been fully elucidated. This study used immunohistochemistry to analyze CTSD localization in goat ovarian tissues. Moreover, western blotting was applied to examine the differential expression of CTSD in the ovarian tissues of monotocous and polytocous goats. Subsequently, the effects of CTSD knockdown on cell proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle, and the expression of candidate genes of the prolific traits, including bone morphogenetic protein receptor IB (

ABSTRACT

To develop a magnetic nanoparticle chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) for the determination of type Ⅰ procollagen N-terminal peptide (PINP) in human serum, we expressed a recombinant PINP-α1 protein in Corynebacterium glutamicum and used it as an immunogen to immunize BALB/c mice. We obtained three hybridoma cell lines that stably secret antibody against PINP-α1 protein. After further pairing and screening, we chose a monoclonal antibody 8C12 coupled with biotin as the capture antibody, and a monoclonal antibody 1F11 labeled horseradish peroxidase as the detection antibody. The antibodies combined with the serum samples, forming a sandwich complex which was used to detect the concentration of PINP in serum. After optimizing the conditions, we determined that the best working concentration of the capture antibody and the detection antibody were 3 μg/mL, and the incubation time was 30 minutes. The quantitative assay had a detection range of 5-1 100 ng/mL, with recovery rates between 93%-107% and the minimum detection limit of 1.22 ng/mL achieved. The intra-and inter-assay precisions were lower than 10%. The correlation coefficient of PINP results between this CLIA method and the Roche electrochemiluminescence immunoassay system was 0.906 2. Therefore, this CLIA method is specific and can be used to quantitatively detect the content of PINP in serum, which has the potential to become an auxiliary approach for bone disease examination.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of growth hormone (GH) gene on skeletal muscle cell proliferation of Guizhou cattle. The coding sequence of cattle GH gene was amplified by reverse transcription PCR, cloned into the pUCM-T vector and then used to construct the GH gene overexpression vector pEGFP-N3-GH. The expression of the GH gene in skeletal muscle-related tissues (psoas major and longissimus dorsi) of Guizhou cattle was determined by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). This was followed by culturing and identification of the bovine primary skeletal muscle cells. Subsequently, we introduced the GH gene overexpression vector into the cells to investigate its effect on the proliferation of bovine skeletal muscle cells and the expression of insulin like growth factor 1 and 2 genes related to skeletal muscle growth and development. RT-qPCR results showed that the expression level of GH gene was higher in the psoas major than in the longissimus dorsi of Guizhou cattle, and the expression level in the psoas major of Guanling cattle and Weining cattle was significantly higher than in the longissimus dorsi (P<0.05). The transfection and proliferation results showed that pEGFP-N3-GH significantly increased the expression of GH, IGF-1, and IGF-2 genes in skeletal muscle cells compared to pEGFP-N3 (PP<0.05), and that overexpression of the GH gene also significantly increased the proliferation rate of skeletal muscle cells at the four periods examined (PP<0.01). Our results suggest that GH gene can promote the proliferation of skeletal muscle cells of Guizhou cattle and exerts a positive regulatory effect. This lays the foundation for further exploring the mechanism by which the GH gene affects the growth and development of Guizhou cattle.

ABSTRACT

Objective:Death causes and life reduction of malignant tumors in the residents of Zhuanqiao Town in Minhang District from 2013 to 2017 were analyzed to provide scientific evidence for the strategies on comprehensive prevention and control of cancer. Methods:The data of death causes of malignant tumors in the residents of Zhuanqiao Town were collected and analyzed. The mortality rate, annual percent change (APC), composition ratio, potential years of life lost (PYLL), potential years of life lost rate (PYLLR) and average years of life lost (AYLL) of the registered population were analyzed. Results:The standardized mortality rate of malignant tumors in the residents of Zhuanqiao Town from 2013 to 2017 was 128.05/105, and the rate was higher in males than that in females. The top four cancers regarding PYLL were lung cancer, liver cancer, stomach cancer and colorectal cancer, which were roughly the same order as the top four regarding the mortality. This indicates that these four cancers had a greater impact on residents. Lung cancer had a greater impact on female life expectancy. PYLL and SPYLL ranked the first in liver cancer in males and thus had a greater impact on the males. Breast cancer was one of the most important malignant tumors in causing early death of women. Conclusion:Malignant tumor has become an important public health problem endangering the health of residents. The focus of future work in the town remains to improve public awareness of carcinogenic risk factors, actively carry out health education, lifestyle intervention and early screening in order to reduce cancer risk, alleviate cancer burden and improve the life expectancy of residents.
