ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of measles cases with immunization history of measles-containing vaccine (MCV), and to provide a basis for improving measles prevention and control measures. Methods Data were collected through the measles surveillance system and the immunization program information management system. Data were analyzed by descriptive epidemiological methods. Results A total of 9 164 cases of measles were reported in Liaoning Province during 2014-2021, of which the cases of measles with immunization history of 1 dose MCV accounted for 5.64%, and ≥ 2 doses accounted for 3.60%. There was a statistically significant difference in the immunization proportion among different years (χ2=184.534, P2=109.448, P2=4.147, P<0.05). The onset time of most cases was over 2 weeks after the last dose of MCV vaccination, accounting for 82.06%. The incidence rates of fever, cough, catarrh symptoms, conjunctivitis, lymph node enlargement and articular pain were all significantly lower in the cases with immunization history than those in the patients without a history of MCV immunization (P<0.05). Conclusion The cases with immunization history account for a certain proportion in measles cases, mainly secondary vaccination failure. The incidence rate of fever, cough, catarrhal symptoms, conjunctivitis, Koch's patches, lymphadenopathy, joint pain, and other clinical symptoms in measles patients with a history of MCV immunization is lower than that in patients without immunization history. Inoculation of MCV is of great significance in relieving clinical symptoms. It is necessary to inoculate two doses of MCV in time for measles prevention and control.

ABSTRACT

Functional vision is the visual ability of patients with visual disorders when they participate in or complete daily activities, through early evaluation and targeted treatment, the improvement of disease prognosis can be realized. In this paper, the concept of functional vision was introduced, the evaluation content, scoring method and application status of functional vision evaluation tools for patients with visual disorders were described, and the analysis and comparison of the characteristics and shortcomings of each evaluation tool were carried out. Thus providing appropriate functional vision evaluation tools for medical staff in China and providing reference for improving the quality of functional vision evaluation for patients with visual disorders.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the spatial distribution of measles from 2013 through 2015 in Liaoning province,China and to provide references for measles control and prevention. Methods The GeoDa 1.4. 6 program was used to conduct exploratory spatial data analysis to identify the spatial distribution characteristics and pattern of measles in Liaoning province. Results The frequency analysis showed that the measles epidemic situation appeared to have significant positive skewing within 105 counties of Liaoning province in each year from 2013 through 2015. The global trend analysis indicated a balanced trend in 2013 and 2015,and that the high incidence measles areas were located in the eastern and northern provincial regions in 2014. The global Moran'sⅠwas 0.294 5,0.391 9,and 0.147 7,and general G values were 0.015 9,0.012 0,and 0.013 5,revealing a positive spatial autocorrelation and a high-high aggregation model for each year between 2013 and 2015. The local spatial autocorrelation analysis recognized 5 core areas and 25 hot-spot counties with a high incidence of the measles epidemic, mainly distributed in Shenyang,Fuxin,Tieling,Fushun,Benxi,Liaoyang,Panjin, and Huludao. Conclusion Measles cases were clustered geographically in Liaoning province from 2013 through 2015. Spatial epidemiology methods may offer insights for the epidemiologic study of measles.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effect of midwives′antenatal clinic service on management of gestational weight and birth outcomes .Methods Totally 420 primiparas who had made registration and regular antenatal examination in a hospital ,were randomly divided into two groups .The women in the control group(n=208) received routine antenatal clinicservice .In addition ,the women in the experimental group(n=212) participated in an individual midwives′antenatal clinic .The primiparas′gestational weight gain and birth outcomes were measured and compared between the two groups .Results The rate of natural birth in the experimen‐tal group was higher than that of the control group .The rate of fetal macrosomia ,episiotomy and labor analgesia were lower than that of the control group(P0 .05) .Conclusion The midwives′antenatal clinic service has good effects on management ofgestational weight gain ,improves birth outcomes and pro‐vides primiparas positive experience of childbirth .

ABSTRACT

Objective To construct the human interleukin-18(hIL-18) DNA plasmids vaccine and to express the eukaryotic plasmids vaccine in mammalian cell lines Cos-7 and D5.Methods Gene recombinant technique was used to construct hIL-18 eukaryotic expression vectors.Calcium phosphate method was performed to transect recombinant hIL-18 eukaryotic expression vectors into Cos-7 and D5 cells. In situ hybridization and Western Blot were implemented to verify the transient expression of recombinant hIL-18 in Cos-7 and D5.Results The eukaryotic expression plasmid pVAX1-IL 18 was constructed successfully.hIL-18 was transiently expressed in Cos-7 and D5.Conclusion The eukaryotic expression plasmid pVAX1-IL 18 was constructed. In situ hybridization and Western Blot results proved the successful transient expression of pVAX1-IL 18 in Cos-7 and D5.Therefore,the work has settled the foundation for further biological research on hIL-18,including immunogene therapy through hIL-18.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To confirm the existence of the endothelial progenitor cells in human cord blood and to study its differentiation and development process. METHODS: The mononuclear cells in human cord blood were isolated using lymphocyte separation solution. Then the mononuclear cells were cltured in MCDB131 containing 20% fetal bovine serum. The effects of 5 ?mol/L dexamethasone, the extract from bovine brain, insulin and hypoxanine on the proliferation and differentiation of the adherent cells were observed. The morphology of the adherent cells were examined twice daily by inverted phase contrast microscope. CD34 and CD14 expression were determined by FACS. Immunohistochemistry was used to confirm the expression of factor Ⅷ. RESULTS: The proliferative endothelial progenitor cells existed within the CD34 - adherent mononuclear cells of human cord blood. Dexamethasone and hypoxanine decreased the number of spindle-shaped cells and caudated cells. Bovine brain extract, insulin and FCS enhanced the number of spindle-shaped cells and caudated cells. CONCLUSION: The existence of endothelial progenitor cells within the CD34 - adherent monouclear cells of the human cord blood was observed and these cells were able to differentiate into endothelial-like cells in vitro.
