ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the mediating effect of stigma and loneliness between anxiety and attitude towards seeking professional psychological help among college freshmen. Methods:A sample of 920 freshmen was recruited in the study and they were required to complete self-rating anxiety scale(SAS), attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help scale-short form(ATSPPH-SF), questionnaire of stigma for seeking professional psychological help(SSPPH), University of California, Los Angeles loneliness scale(UCLA). SPSS 24.0 was used for descriptive analysis and correlation analysis.SPSS macro program PROCESS 3.4 was used to analyze the mediating effect.Results:(1) The scores of anxiety, stigma, loneliness and attitude towards seeking professional psychological help of all subjects were (44.70±7.13), (19.14±6.79), (52.30±6.65) and (18.12±3.49). Anxiety was positively correlated with stigma and loneliness( r=0.170, 0.351, both P<0.01). Stigma was positively correlated with loneliness ( r=0.264, P<0.01). Attitude towards seeking professional psychological help was negatively correlated with anxiety, stigma and loneliness( r=-0.085, -0.459, -0.185, all P<0.05). (2) There were three paths that anxiety affected attitude towards seeking professional psychological help. The mediating effect size of stigma was -0.037, accounting for 75.51% of the total indirect effect. The mediating effect size of loneliness was -0.011, accounting for 22.45% of the total indirect effect. The chain mediating effect of anxiety and attitude towards seeking professional psychological help was -0.001, accounting for 2.04% of the total indirect effect. Conclusion:Stigma and loneliness play multiple mediating effects on the relationship between anxiety and attitude towards seeking professional psychological help.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the effect of venous anastomosis by using microvascular coupler during repair and reconstruction surgery after recection of tumor in oral and maxillofacial area. Methods: 20 patients with oral and maxillofacial tumor were chosen for repair of the defects via free flap. Microvascular coupler was applied to combine venous system, however, traditional methods were used in arterial anastomosis. Results: The average time of venous anastomosis using microvascular coupler was (5. 75 ± 0. 53) min, none of the cases were suffered from thrombosis after surgery. Vascular nerosis resulted from arterial spasm occured in 1 flap, reaching the flap survival rate of 95%(19 /20). Neck bleeding occurred in 1 case after surgery, the reflux of the anastomosed vein went smoothly when the blood clot was cleared, flap healing was unaffected. In another case, the coupler released during the surgery due to thick blood vessel wall as well as hypertension among the anastomotic edge, the vessels were manually sutured. Conclusion: With the appropriate indications, application of microvascular coupler may shorten the operating time, without affecting the effect of vascular anastomosis. The possibility of coupler loosing should be alarmed when bumped into great anastomotic tension or thick wall of the vein.

ABSTRACT

Fibulin protein family has widely existed in the extracellular matrix, and plays an important role in maintain the stable of basement membrane, elastic fibers and loose connective tissue. Fibulin-5 (FBLN-5) is one of the members of the Fibulin protein family, which is essential to the structure function and cell mediated action. The lack of FBLN-5 will cause many diseases such as internal organ deformity. Current research suggests that changes of expression level of FBLN-5 are associated with the occurrence of tumors such as lung cancer, and also can influence the tumor proliferation, invasion and prognosis, thus may become a new molecular marker for cancer diagnosis. Therefore, in this review, we summarize and update biological characteristics and functions of FBLN-5, and its role in the development of tumor formation mechanism.

ABSTRACT

Objective There are quite a few chemotherapeutic adjuvants for the treatment of advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma, but all have their adverse effects. This study was to evaluate the efficacy and adverse effects of the induction chemotherapy of S?1 plus docetaxel and cisplatin in the treatment of advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Totally, 84 patients with advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma were randomly divided into an observation and a control group of equal number, the former trea?ted with S?1 plus docetaxel and cisplatin and the latter with 5?fluorouracil, docetaxel and cisplatinand, both for two cycles ( 1 cycle =21 d) . Then the effects and adverse events were evaluated and compared between the two groups of patients. Results No statistically significant differences were observed in the response rate between the observation and control groups of patients (76.19% vs 73.81%, P>0.05). The incidence rates of adverse events, such as nausea and vomiting (66.67% vs 88.10%, P<0.05) and phlebitis (0 vs 19.05%, P<0.05) , were remarkably lower in the former than in the latter group. Conclusion S?1 plus docetaxel and cisplatin is a reli?able induction chemotherapy with few adverse effects in the treatment of advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of full-length spleen tyrosine kinase [SYK (L)] mRNA and protein in human oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) as well as its possible effects on the invasion and metastasis of OSCC.

METHODSThe expression of SYK (L) was detected in 27 cases of OSCC tissues and its matched adjacent non-cancerous tissues by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), Western blot, and immunohistochemistry. Fourteen cases of normal oral gingival tissues were also analyzed as a normal control.

RESULTSReduced mRNA and protein expression of SYK (L) in OSCC tissues was observed compared with that in normal oral gingival tissues (P<0.01) and adjacent non-cancerous tissues (P<0.05). SYK(L) expression was significantly associated with lymph-node metastasis (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONSYK(L) is a candidate tumor suppressor for OSCC tissues, and has an inhibitive effect on the initiation, proliferation, and lymph-node metastasis of human OSCC.
