ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT To explore the clinical effect of music therapy in the treatment of middle-aged and elderly patients with depression. From June 2019 to June 2020, 100 patients with depression in a community were selected as the object of this study, and were divided into a control group and an observation group according to the order of visits, with 50 patients in each group. There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of gender, age, education level and drug treatment (medication dose, type) (P>0.05). The patients in the control group were treated with conventional antidepressant drugs. The patients in the observation group added music therapy to the conventional therapy. The music therapist needs to fully understand the basic situation of the patient and formulate a suitable music treatment plan according to the actual state of the patient. Compare the HANA and PSP scores between the two groups of depressive patients after treatment to judge the treatment effect on the patients. The Hana and PSP scores in the observation group after treatment were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). To treat depression, in addition to selecting appropriate drugs, alleviating the emotional state of patients is more important. Music therapy as an auxiliary treatment of traditional therapy, in the treatment of depression in the elderly, has been effectively verified, we should actively promote its application.

ABSTRACT

The clinical data of a case of paroxysmal extreme pain disorder(PEPD) in Guangdong 999 Brain Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The male patient, age of first examination was 7 months, began to have recurrent tonic accompanied by facial redness or cyanosis at 5 months after birth. The patient was diagnosed with epilepsy. The oral solution of sodium valproate and Levetiracetam were not effective. The video electroencephalogram examination displayed that, when the patient had tonic and bradycardia, the synchro electroencephalogram did not show epileptic discharge, so the patient was considered to have non-epileptic tonic.Genetic examination suggested that SCN9A gene mutation of c. 5240T >C resulted in amino acid changes: Val1747Ala.Combined with the skin changes, the patient was diagnosed as PEPD caused by SCN9A gene mutation. After the treatment with Carbamazepine, the patient′s abnormal skin changed and his-epileptic tonic disappeared, and his condition improved significantly. The early stage of PEPD can be mainly manifested as non-epileptic tonic. It is easy to be misdiagnosed as epilepsy, so the patient′s characteristic skin changes should be noticed, and genetic examination is also helpful in the diagnosis of the disease.

ABSTRACT

The arachidonic acid (AA) metabolic pathway participates in various physiological processes as well as in the development of malignancies. We analyzed genomic alterations in AA metabolic enzymes in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) prostate cancer (PCa) dataset and found that the gene encoding soluble epoxide hydrolase (EPHX2) is frequently deleted in PCa. EPHX2 mRNA and protein expression in PCa was examined in multiple datasets by differential gene expression analysis and in a tissue microarray by immunohistochemistry. The expression data were analyzed in conjunction with clinicopathological variables. Both the mRNA and protein expression levels of EPHX2 were significantly decreased in tumors compared with normal prostate tissues and were inversely correlated with the Gleason grade and disease-free survival time. Furthermore, EPHX2 mRNA expression was significantly decreased in metastatic and recurrent PCa compared with localized and primary PCa, respectively. In addition, EPHX2 protein expression correlated negatively with Ki67 expression. In conclusion, EPHX2 deregulation is significantly correlated with the clinical characteristics of PCa progression and may serve as a prognostic marker for PCa.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#This study was conducted to determine factors associated with long-term graft patency after lower extremity arterial bypass (LEAB). @*Methods@#Database of LEABs for patients with chronic arterial occlusive disease (CAOD) at a single institution was retrospectively reviewed. To determine the factors we compared demographic, clinical, and procedural variables between 2 patient groups; group I (graft patency < 2 years) and group II (graft patency ≥ 5 years after LEAB) using univariable and multivariable analyses. @*Results@#Among 957 LEABs, 259 limbs (group I, 125 limbs and group II, 134 limbs) in 213 patients were included for the analysis. On a univariable analysis, younger age (69 years vs. 66 years, P = 0.024), hypertension (60.8% vs. 74.6%, P = 0.017), claudication (51.2% vs. 70.9%, P = 0.001), absence of prior intervention (50.4% vs. 73.9%, P < 0.001), common femoral artery based bypass (57.6% vs. 70.1%, P = 0.035), above-the knee bypass (36.8% vs. 64.2%, P < 0.001), postoperative graft salvage procedure (3.2% vs. 14.8%, P = 0.001), and statin use (75.2% vs. 88.8, P = 0.004) were associated with long-term patency. On a multivariate analysis hypertension (odds ratio [OR], 1.91; P = 0.038), claudication (OR, 2.08; P = 0.032), no prior intervention (OR, 2.48; P = 0.001), vein graft (OR, 4.36; P = 0.001), above-the knee bypass (OR, 4.68; P < 0.001), and graft salvage procedures (OR, 7.70; P < 0.001) were identified as independent factors. @*Conclusion@#These factors can be considered in decision making before treatment of patients with CAOD.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Intensive therapy with disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) has been reported to improve the outcomes of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, real-world study on the effect of intensive therapy on RA sustained remission is still lacking. This study aimed to investigate the outcome of sustained intensive DMARD therapy (SUIT) for RA in a real-world 5-year consecutive cohort.@*METHODS@#Based on a consecutive cohort of 610 out-patients with RA, remission of RA was assessed in 541 patients from 2012 to 2017, by dividing into SUIT, non-SUIT, and intermittent SUIT (Int-SUIT) groups. Changes in the disease activity scores were evaluated by 28-joint disease activity score based on erythrocyte sedimentation rate (DAS28-ESR), 28-joint disease activity score based on C-reactive protein (DAS28-CRP), and clinical deep remission criteria (CliDR). Cumulative remission rates between different groups were compared using Kaplan-Meier curves and predictive factors of sustained remission were identified by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis.@*RESULTS@#The remission rates of the SUIT group decreased from 12.0% (65/541) to 5.6% (20/359) based on DAS28-ESR, from 14.0% (76/541) to 7.2% (26/359) based on DAS28-CRP, and from 8.5% (46/541) to 3.1% (11/359) based on CliDR, respectively, with a gradually decreasing trend during the 5 years. The SUIT regimen led to a significantly higher cumulative remission rate than non-SUIT regimen based on DAS28-ESR (39.7% vs. 19.5%, P = 0.001), DAS28-CRP (42.0% vs. 19.6%, P = 0.001), and CliDR (24.5% vs. 8.7%, P = 0.001). The cumulative remission rates of patients treated with SUIT regimen were significantly higher than those treated with Int-SUIT regimen based on DAS28-ESR (39.7% vs. 25.7%, P = 0.043) and CliDR (24.5% vs. 14.2%, P = 0.047), but there was no significant difference between the two groups based on DAS28-CRP (42.0% vs. 27.4%, P = 0.066). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the use of SUIT regimen was an independent favorable predictor according to different remission definitions (for DAS28-ESR: odds ratio [OR], 2.215, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.271-3.861, P = 0.005; for DAS28-CRP: OR, 1.520, 95% CI: 1.345-1.783, P = 0.002; for CliDR: OR, 1.525, 95% CI: 1.314-1.875, P = 0.013).@*CONCLUSION@#Sustained intensive treatment of RA is an optimal strategy in daily practice and will lead to an increased remission rate.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the clinical features of encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis (ECCL).Methods:The clinical characteristics, imaging manifestations and electroencephalogram changes of five patients with ECCL from Guangdong 999 Brain Hospital between December 2016 and February 2019 were collected and analyzed. Results:All five cases showed ocular, skin and central nervous system anomalies. Corneal anomalies were found in five cases, eyelid coloboma in three cases, calcification of the globe in two cases, and choristoma in one case. All five cases presented with naevus psiloliparis, three cases with small nodular skin tags on eyelids, and three cases with café-au-lait spots on the trunk. Dysplasia of the right cerebral hemisphere was observed in all five cases, four cases with enlargement of the right ventricle, three cases with arachnoid cysts, and one case with dysplasia of the corpus callosum. The onset of the seizures of five cases was found within one year old. Spasms were observed in five cases, partial seizure in three cases, and tonic seizure in one case. Five cases were drug-resistant epilepsy. Seizures decreased significantly after adrenocorticotropic hormone treatment in one case and seizures free after surgery in one case. One case had seizure free by corpus callosotomy, but had a relapse after four months. Three cases used ketogenic diet, including one case with epileptic seizure reduction, one case with development progress. All five cases had developmental delays. The exon gene sequencing of four cases was found normal. KRAS gene mutation was found in brain tissue of one patient. Conclusions:ECCL is a rare clinical disease that often involves the nervous system, skin and eyes. The seizures of the patients are often difficult to control and have development delays. Surgery may be necessary to control the seizures. ECCL is thought to be somatic mutations, which are hard to detect in the blood and can be found in affected tissues.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the role and mechanism of extracellular histones involved in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced alveolar macrophage injury. Methods:The mouse alveolar macrophage cell line (MH-S) was cultured in vitro and passaged, and the cells were cultured to 80% of cells for cell proliferation. The cells were stimulated with 1 mg/L LPS for 3 hours and 50 mg/L exogenous histones for 3, 6, 12, and 24 hours, respectively (LPS+histones 3, 6, 12, 24 h groups), and other groups included phosphate buffered saline (PBS) control group (PBS group), LPS alone stimulation group (LPS group), the exogenous histones alone stimulation group (histones group) and heparin pretreatment histones group (heparin+LPS+histones group). The cells in each group were challenged with different reagent, the expression of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and inflammatory factors in the supernatant were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the change of intracellular K + concentration was detected by FluxOR TMⅡgreen potassium channel. The proteins such as potassium channel protein (TWIK2), inflammasome (NLRP3), and apoptosis associated speck like protein containing a CARD (ASC) were determined by Western Blot. Results:Compared with the PBS group, the levels of LDH and inflammatory factors such as interleukin (IL-1β, IL-18) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were significantly increased after LPS stimulation group. Compared with the LPS group, the levels of LDH and inflammatory factors were significantly increased after the treatment with exogenous histones, and reached a peak after 3 hours of the histones stimulation [LDH (U/L): 123.10±1.83 vs. 85.32±1.66, IL-1β (mg/L): 40.75±2.60 vs. 18.78±1.37, IL-18 (mg/L): 49.94±2.45 vs. 30.19±1.82, TNF-α (mg/L): 36.51±1.56 vs. 20.84±1.61, all P < 0.01]. Western Blot results showed that compared with the LPS group, NLRP3, ASC and TWIK2 protein expression were significantly up-regulated in the LPS+histones group (NLRP3/GAPDH: 0.80±0.02 vs. 0.57±0.02, ASC/GAPDH: 0.57±0.02 vs. 0.38±0.01, TWIK2/GAPDH: 0.65±0.01 vs. 0.41±0.01, all P < 0.01), and the expression of the above proteins were significantly down-regulated after heparin pretreatment (NLRP3/GAPDH: 0.28±0.02 vs. 0.80±0.02, ASC/GAPDH: 0.25±0.02 vs. 0.57±0.02, TWIK2/GAPDH: 0.35±0.01 vs. 0.65±0.01, all P < 0.01), indicating that histones could activate NLRP3 through TWIK2 to participate in inflammatory reaction. In addition, intracellular K + concentration in LPS+histones group decreased significantly compared with the LPS group (fluorescence intensity: 35.48±2.53 vs. 83.92±3.11, P < 0.01). Compared with LPS+histones group, K + concentration increased significantly after pretreatment with heparin (fluorescence intensity: 72.10±1.78 vs. 35.48±2.53, P < 0.01), indicating that extracellular histones could cause K + massive efflux through TWIK2, and thus mediate NLRP3 activation and participate in inflammatory injury of alveolar macrophages. Conclusion:Extracellular histones can cause inflammatory damage in alveolar macrophages, and its mechanism may be related to the activation of NLRP3 by extracellular histones activation of TWIK2 channel to promote K + efflux.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#Primary tumor at the carotid bifurcation is uncommon, which includes paraganglioma, schwannoma, and lymphoma. Due to their rarity, characteristics of these tumors and problems related to their surgical treatment have not been well known. We tried to elucidate different clinical characteristics and surgical complications of these tumors. @*Materials and Methods@#We retrospectively reviewed 21 patients with carotid bifurcation tumor from the Vascular Surgery division of a Korean tertiary institution from 1995 to 2018. We investigated patients’ demographics and clinical features, image characteristics, treatment details, and surgical outcomes. @*Results@#During the period from January 1995 to January 2018, we experienced surgical resections of 21 carotid bifurcation tumors which included 16 (76.2%) paragangliomas and 5 (23.8%) schwannomas. The most common clinical feature was a non-tender cervical mass. According to Shamblin classification, paragangliomas were classified into class II in 68.8% and class III in 25.0%. On the preoperative computed tomography images, all the paragangliomas showed characteristic splaying of the carotid bifurcation and hypervascularity of the tumors. On the contrary, all the schwannomas showed hypovascularity and splaying sign in 60%.Surgical complications related to cervical nerve injury developed in 50% and 60% of patients with Shamblin class III paraganglioma and schwannoma, respectively.During the mean follow-up period of 25 months (range, 1 to 163 months), distant metastases developed in 2 (12.5%) of paraganglioma patients. @*Conclusion@#Neurologic complications were more common after surgical resection of Shamblin class III paraganglioma and schwannoma. For patients with paraganglioma, postoperative periodic follow-up examination is advised to detect distant metastasis.

ABSTRACT

Adventitial cystic disease (ACD) is a very rare condition characterized by the accumulation of a cyst filled with gelatinous substance in the adventitia of a vessel adjacent to the joint area. The cyst usually compresses the vessel lumen, causing claudication or leg swelling. The disease usually affects the popliteal artery. However, several cases of venous ACDs particularly in the common femoral or external iliac vein have been reported. The definition, diagnosis, and optimal treatment of ACD remain controversial because of its rarity and the inconsistent use of terminology. The heterogeneity of the reported cases is more prominent in venous ACD. Herein, the accurate terminology of cysts correlated to the joint (synovial cyst, ganglion cyst, and adventitial cyst) and the pathogenesis, anatomy, and optimal therapy of venous ACD are discussed in detail to establish reporting standards for future studies.

ABSTRACT

@# Objective:To explore the targeting relationship between miR-377-5p and hypoxia inducible factor-1 (HIF-1α), and investigate the regulatory effect of miR-377-5p on proliferation, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells through vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling pathway. Methods: :The expression of miR-377-5p in 35 pairs of human HCC tissues and para-cancerous tissues was detected by qPCR. Then, HepG2 cells were divided into control group, mimic-NC group and miR-377-5pmimicgroup.qPCRwasusedto detect the transfection efficiency; the effects of miR-377-5p over-expression on proliferation and invasion of HepG2 cells were examined by EdU staining and Transwell assay, respectively; and the effect of miR-377-5p over-expression on the expressions of proliferation-related protein Ki-67, proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers (E-cadherin and N-cadherin) were detected by Western blotting (WB); the effect of miR-377-5p over-expression on the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) in HepG2 cells was detected by qPCR and WB; and the targeting relationship between miR-377-5p and HIF-1α gene was determined by Luciferase reporter gene assay. Results: The expression of miR-377-5p in HCC tissues was significantly lower than that in para-cancerous tissues (P<0.01). Compared with the control group, the expression of miR-377-5p in HepG2 cells of miR-377-5p mimic group elevated significantly, and the proliferation, invasion and the expression of N-caderin proteins decreased, significantly (all P<0.01), while the expression of E-caderin increased significantly (P<0.01). At the same time, the mRNA and protein expressions of HIF-1α in miR-377-5p mimic group decreased significantly (P<0.01 or P<0.05). miR-377-5p targetedly inhibited the expression of HIF-1α gene and suppressed the activation of VEGF pathway (all P<0.05). Conclusion: miR-377-5p inhibits the proliferation, invasion and EMT of HepG2 cells via targetedly inhibiting HIF-1α expression and suppressing the activation of VEGF signaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#The number of international visiting scholars has been on the increase in Korea and we aim to investigate the program’s current situation. @*Methods@#This cross-sectional study is based on an online survey questionnaire responded by international visiting scholars in surgical departments of 8 Korean hospitals between 2014 and 2018 about their experiences and satisfaction with the visiting scholar program. @*Results@#A total of 1,496 international scholars from 80 countries visited various surgical departments in 8 Korean hospitals between 2014 and 2018. The numbers have been on the increase over the years. Out of 355 visiting scholars in 2018, 71 replied to the online survey, of whom 52 were male and 19 female, and mostly in their 30s and 40s. Information about the program was accessed mostly through friends or colleagues (42.3%) and international conferences (36.6%). The commonest funding source was private (35.2%) and more than half stayed for less than 3 months. The visiting scholar’s main roles were mostly observation or participation in surgery and clinical research. All but 1 were satisfied with the program (98.6%) and would recommend it to friends and colleagues, although the language barrier was identified as an inconvenience. Those aged 20–39 years with governmental or institutional funding were associated with stays of more than 1 year. @*Conclusion@#The number of international visiting scholars at surgical departments in Korean hospitals has been on the increase with high satisfaction levels. Improvements need to be made on funding sources and lengthening visiting period to maximize the benefits of the program.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#Open surgical conversion (OSC) is the last treatment option for patients with endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) failure. We investigated the underlying causes of EVAR failure requiring OSC and attempted to determine strategies to avoid OSC after EVAR. @*Methods@#We retrospectively reviewed the database of patients who underwent OSC after EVAR from 2005 to 2018 in a single institution. Twenty-six OSCs were performed in 24 patients (median age, 74.5 years; 79.2% of males) who had undergone standard EVAR. We investigated pre-, intra-, and postoperative computed tomography or angiographic images and outcomes of the OSCs. @*Results@#Two main indications for OSC were persistent endoleak (50.0%) and endograft infection (EI) (38.5%). All 13 patients who underwent OSC due to endoleaks received EVAR outside of indications for use. Among 10 patients who underwent OSC due to EI, we found overlooked infection sources in 7 (70.0%) at the time of EVAR or during the surveillance period.OSC was performed at a median of 31.8 months (interquartile range, 9.4–69.8) after EVAR as an emergency (15.4%) or elective (84.6%) surgery. Aortic endograft was removed in 84.6% of cases (totally, 57.7%; partially, 26.9%), whereas it was preserved in 4 cases (15.4%). After 26 OSCs, 2 early deaths (7.7%) and 2 aortoenteric fistulae (7.7%) developed as major complications. @*Conclusion@#OSC after EVAR was associated with relatively higher perioperative morbidity and mortality. To avoid OSC after EVAR, we recommend careful assessment of coexisting infection sources and avoidance of EVAR for patients with especially unfavorable anatomy for EVAR, particularly the in proximal neck.

ABSTRACT

Objective::To investigate the effects of plant-soil feedback on secondary metabolites in roots, stems and leaves of Acanthopanax senticosus seedlings. Method::One-year-old seedlings of A. senticosus were planted in the soil where no A. senticosus had been planted before (group 1), soil where A. senticosus had been planted for 3 years (group 2), and soil where A. senticosus had been planted for many years in the greenhouse pot experiment, and the secondary metabolites of its roots, stems and leaves were then analyzed. Result::L-Phenylalanine, 3, 4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, syringin, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, eleutheroside E, isofraxidin, rutin, hyperoside, and quercetin had significant differences in leaves and roots of A. senticosus seedlings in the soil of group 3, but there was no significant difference in chlorogenic acid and eleutheroside E in stem. Eleutheroside E, isofraxidin, rutin and hyperoside were not detected in the leaves of seedlings planted in group 3.Most of the secondary metabolites in the roots of A. senticosus seedlings showed positive feedback, while in the stems of Acanthopanax senticosus seedlings, caffeine, A. senticosus glycosides, hypericin and quercetin showed negative feedback, and most of the secondary metabolites in the leaves of A. senticosus seedlings showed positive feedback. Conclusion::The plant and soil showed different feedback in different parts of the growth process of A. senticosus seedlings, and the soil where A. senticosus had not been planted was more advantageous to the secondary metabolites of A. senticosus seedlings. The results of the study provide a basis for the study of the effect of plant-soil feedback on the A. senticosus, and provide the theoretical basis and technical support for the artificial cultivation of A. senticosus.

ABSTRACT

Objective::To study the effect of plant-soil feedback on the antioxidant enzyme system of Acanthopanax senticosus seedlings, in order to elucidate the changes of plant-soil feedback on the antioxidant enzyme system of A. senticosus seedlings, and provide theoretical basis for revealing the reasons of plant-soil feedback. Method::Through the greenhouse pot experiment, plant height, leaf color value (SPAD), antioxidant enzymes [protein, superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT), peroxidase(POD), aseorbateperoxidase(APX), malondialdehyde(MDA)] and yield and growth related indexes of soil without A. senticosus (group 1), soil with A. senticosus (group 2) for three consecutive years and soil with A. senticosus (group 3) for many years were measured respectively. Result::There were significant differences in plant height, SPAD, protein, SOD, CAT, POD, APX and MDA between seedlings of A. senticosus planted for three consecutive years (group 1), two successive years (group 2) and three successive years (group 3). The biomass, MDA, CAT, POD and SOD of A. senticosus seedlings in the soil without A. senticosus (group 1) were higher than those in the soil with A. senticosus (group 2 and 3), while the protein and APX were lower than those in the soil with A. senticosus (group 2 and 3). Conclusion::Plant and soil shows negative feedback regulation during the growth of A. senticosus seedlings, which reduced the activity of antioxidant enzymes. Therefore, the soil without planting A. senticosus has more advantages for the growth of A. senticosus seedlings. The results provide a basis for explaining the effect of plant-soil feedback on the growth of A. senticosus, and a theoretical basis and technical support for the technical standards of A. senticosus cultivation in farmland.

ABSTRACT

Objective::To study the effect of different N application rates on the growth and development of Acanthopanax senticosus and the changes of antioxidant enzyme activity, and screen out the suitable amount of nitrogen fertilizer for its growth and development, in order to provide scientific evidence for rational fertilization of Acanthopanax senticosus in artificial cultivation. Method::By single-point, single-factor field experiment, the study samples were one-year-old seedlings of growing evenly A. senticosus.Five nitrogen application treatment groups were set up in the fields. They were N1 (30 g·m-2), N2 (60 g·m-2), N3 (90 g·m-2), N4 (120 g·m-2), N5 (150 g·m-2) and CK (0 g·m-2) in the control group.Three months later, the raw weight of plant, root, leaf and stem were measured at harvest time. After drying to constant weight, plant dry weight, stem dry weight, leaf dry weight and root dry weight were measured.Fresh leaves of plants were collected to measure malondialdehyde(MDA) content and activities of catalase(CAT), superoxide dismutase(SOD), peroxidase(POD), acid phosphatase(ACP) and aseorbateperoxidase(APX) after harvesting seedlings. Result::The biomass of A. senticosus in group N4 (120 g·m-2) was the highest, the protein content in group N3 (90 g·m-2) was the highest, and the activity of all antioxidant enzymes in group N3 (90 g·m-2) was the lowest. Conclusion::There is a dose-effect relationship between seedlings and the nitrogen application rate. That is to say, low nitrogen application rate and high nitrogen application rate will cause stress on Acanthopanax senticosus, and the activity of antioxidant enzymes under low nitrogen application rate is higher than that under high nitrogen application rate.

ABSTRACT

Objective::To study the effect of different nitrogen application rates on the growth and carbon metabolism of Acanthopanax senticosus seedlings, and screen out the rational fertilization conditions, in order to provide basis and guidance for scientific fertilization of artificially cultivated A. senticosus. Method::A single-point, single-factor field experiment was conducted to study the seedlings of growing evenly A. senticosus.Five different nitrogen application treatment groups were set up to treat the seedlings, namely N1 group (30 g·m-2), N2 group (60 g·m-2), N3 group (90 g·m-2), N4 group (120 g·m-2), N5 group (150 g·m-2) and CK group (0 g·m-2), respectively.Three months later, plant height, root circumference, stem circumference, root-shoot ratio and SPAD were measured at harvest time. The contents of protein, sucrose, starch, soluble sugar and reducing sugar in fresh leaves were measured. Result::N3 treatment was the best treatment method for the growth and development of A. senticosus seedlings, and the growth of A. senticosus seedlings was the best under this treatment. The protein content of A. senticosus seedlings in N3 treatment was the highest.Starch and sucrose were best accumulated in N5 treatment group and CK treatment group.N5 treatment had the highest soluble sugar content and reducing sugar content. Conclusion::There is a dose-effect relationship between the growth and development of A. senticosus seedlings; that is to say, low and high nitrogen application treatments will cause stress on A. senticosus seedlings. In conclusion, the suitable nitrogen application rate for A. senticosus growth is 90-120 g·m-2.

ABSTRACT

This paper origin studies the origin of Alismatis Rhizoma in Chinese pharmacopoeia, and puts forward some suggestions for modification. Through the changes in the records of the source of Alismatis Rhizoma in the various versions of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia and the records of Flora of China and Materia Medica of China,it is found that the source of Alismatis Rhizoma in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia is confused. Specifically, the Chinese name of Alismatis Rhizoma does not correspond to the Latin name. As a common Chinese herbal medicine,Alismatis Rhizoma has a large market circulation. Many classic Chinese medicine prescriptions released by China Food and Drug Administration contain Alismatis Rhizoma. The development of the classic Chinese medicine prescriptions will further increase the market circulation of Alismatis Rhizoma. As a major national move to promote the development of traditional Chinese medicine, the study for classic Chinese medicine prescriptions requires defining the origin of the medicinal materials used, and the confused origin of Alismatis Rhizoma recorded in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia seriously hinder the development of the classics. Therefore,in order to regulate the origin of Alismatis Rhizoma, ensure the clinical efficacy and promote the development of classic Chinese medicine prescriptions, the confused origin of Alismatis Rhizoma in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia has to be resolved as soon as possible. Based on the analysis of the changes of Alismatis Rhizoma's producing areas in the past dynasties, it is found that the producing areas of Alismatis Rhizoma have continuous changed from Wei and Jin dynasties to present, and finally formed the current situation of Sichuan as the main producing area. In comparison of chemical composition, origin and market circulation of Alismatis Rhizoma in Sichuan Province that is the most productive, and Fujian Province that is the best quality, it is found that the two species are different in every aspects. Nowadays,Alisma plantago-aquatica occupies the majority of the market, which doesn't conform to Alisma orientale as specified in the 2015 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Therefore, through textual research and analysis, it is suggested that both A. plantago-aquatica and A. orientale. Shall be used as the origin of Alismatis Rhizoma. In the 2015 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia,Cassiae Semen,Schizonepetae Herba,Aisaematis Rhizoma,Fibraureae Caulis and Ajugae Herba have the same problem. This paper provides ideas for the revision of sources of traditional Chinese medicine.
