ABSTRACT

Objective To determine the risk factors of light perception and no light perception appearenee after vitrectomy for pro-liferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Design Retrospective, noncomparative case series. Participants 242 patients (288 eyes) who un-derwent vitrectomy for PDR. Methods 288 eyes of participants from 2002 to 2006 at Beijing Tongren Eye Center were reviewed. Cases that had postoperative visual acuity of light perception (LP) and no light perception (NLP) were recorded and PDR stages, traction reti-nal detachment involving macula, postoperative retinal detachment, postoperative vitreous hemorrhage, postoperative neovascular glauco-ma and re-operations were analyzed. Main Outcome Measures Postoperative complications, PDR stage, macular disorder. Results Subjects were divided into two groups. LP/NLP group included eyes that had postoperative visual acuity of light perception and no light perception (totally 14 eyes in this group). Another group (control group) included eyes that had postoperative visual acuity of hand mo-tion or better (totally 274 eyes in this group). When compared with control group, the LP/NLP group had significantly higher prevalence of PDR 6, traction retinal detachment involving macula, postoperative retinal detachment, postoperative vitreous hemorrhage, postopera-tive neovascular glaucoma and reoperation (P value was 0.042, 0.048, 0.048, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000, respectively). Conclusion Risk factors of light perception and no light perception after vitrectomy for PDR include PDR stage 6, traction retinal detachment involving macula, postoperative retinal detachment, postoperative, vitreous hemorrhage, postoperative neovascular glaucoma and re-operation. ABSTRACT

AIM: To study the technological parameters of the purification process of total flavonoids of Crataegus leaves with HPD-600 macroreticular resin. METHODS: Using orthogonal experiments,the adsorptive characteristics and elutive parameters of the process were studied by taking the elutive effects and purification ratio of total flavonoids of Crataegus leaves. RESULTS: Two significant factors which were the concentration of crude flavonoids solvent and elutant component were observed. CONCLUSION: The microwave-assisted extraction and purification process with macroreticular resin is employed,the content of total flavonoids is 80.75%, the rutin content is (1.38)%, The macroreticular resin can be used in the purification of flavonoids of Crataegus leaves.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To retrospectively review the clinical outcome of pars plana vitrectomy(PPV) for patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).Methods:Data of 242 patients(288eyes) at Beijing Tongren Eye Center from 2002 to 2006 were retrospectively reviewed.According to the B-mode ultrasonic observation before surgery and ocular fundus during surgery,the reviewed cases were divided into four groups: vitreous hemorrhage but without retinal detachments,extensive fibrovascular vitreous membranes with limited traction retinal detachment but not involving the macular area,traction retinal detachment involving the macular,and combined phacoemusification and PPV.Results:Visual improvements were as follows: 84.9% in the group of patients with vitreous hemorrhage without retinal detachments(groupⅠ),81.1% in the group of patients with extensive fibrovascular vitreous membranes with limited traction retinal detachment but not involving the macular area(groupⅡ),41.9% in the group of patients with traction retinal detachment involving the macular(groupⅢ),and 72% in the group of patients with combined phacoemusification and PPV(groupⅣ).The visual improvement between groupⅠ and groupⅡ had no statistical difference through ?2 test(?2=0.529,P=0.467),while the visual improvement difference of group,Ⅱand Ⅳ had statistical significance(P=0.000 1,0.000 1,0.016 respectively).Conclusion:Pars plana vitrectomy is an effective treatment for PDR and the treatment may acquire an ideal vision prognosis as the macular area is not obviously involved.
