ABSTRACT

Zexietang is a Chinese herbal compound prescription with a long history, which consists of Rhizoma alismatis and Atractylodes macrocephala. Zexietang comes from "Synopsis of Golden Chamber", as "there is a drink under the heart, and its people are bitter and dizzy". Zexietang has the effect of removing water from drinking water and invigorating spleen for diuresis. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that its lipid-lowering and anti-inflammatory effects are very significant. It can be used to treat hyperlipidemia, anti-atherosclerosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. With the continuous development of molecular biology, the research on the pharmacological effects of Zexietang, extracts and their monomers has deepened to the molecular level gradually, and the relevant mechanism of action has also been continuously elucidated. In terms of lipid-lowering effect of Zexietang, the levels of cytokines or receptors such as 3-hydroxy-3-methyl glutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR), cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1), and liver X receptors (LXR) are affected. It is widely involved in adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and peroxisome proliferators-activated receptors (PPAR) pathways, while Zexietang's anti-inflammatory effect mainly affects inflammatory factors such as interleukins (IL) and tumor necrosis factors (TNF), and simultaneously nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), toll-like receptors (TLR) and other cytokines or receptor-related pathways. In order to promote the further research and clinical application of Zexietang and contribute to the development of modernization of traditional Chinese medicine, the studies of the past 15 years on molecular mechanism of the lipid-lowering and anti-inflammatory effect of Zexietang, Alisma and Atractylodes extract as well as their monomer components were reviewed.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Shenxie Zhitong capsule in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN) of stagnant blockade of collaterals, and evaluate its effectiveness and safety. Method:The 104 patients were randomly divided into the Shenxie Zhitong capsule treatment group (the treatment group, 53 patients) and the alpha lipoic acid group (control group, 51 patients), and two groups were compared by random and contrast test. The changes of the Toronto clinical scoring system (TCSS), utah early neuropathy scores (UENS), traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, visual analysis scale (VAS), ankle brachial index (ABI), vibrating perception threshold (VPT) before and after treatment were compared between two groups, and the endpoint events, such as foot ulcers, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), death and composite endpoint events, related indicators of glucose and lipid metabolism and safety indicators were recorded among patients. Result:Compared with the data before treatment, the scores of TCSS, UENS, and TCM syndromes in two groups were significantly reduced (<italic>P</italic><0.01) after treatment, and VAS and glycosylated haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) were significantly reduced (<italic>P</italic><0.05), during follow-up visit, the levels of right ABI,total cholesterol (TC), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in two groups were significantly reduced (<italic>P</italic><0.05), and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) level was significantly increased (<italic>P</italic><0.05). control group in control group, the 2-hour postprandial plasma glucose (2 h PG) and HbA1c levels were significantly increased (<italic>P</italic><0.05). Compared with control group, the VAS of the treatment group after treatment was significantly reduced (<italic>P</italic><0.05). After treatment and during follow-up visit, compared with control group, the 2 h PG levels of the right toe in the treatment group were significantly reduced (<italic>P</italic><0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in endpoint events and safety indicators between two groups, but the incidence trend of composite endpoint events in the treatment group was lower than that in control group. Conclusion:Shenxie Zhitong capsule has definite clinical curative effect in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which is more safe and effective than alpha lipoic acid in improving pain symptoms.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#Adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) improves survival outcomes in patients with advanced gastric cancer (GC) after curative surgery; however, some patients do not receive or complete chemotherapy. This study aimed to identify factors related to patient compliance with chemotherapy after curative surgery for advanced GC. @*Methods@#The data of patients who underwent curative gastrectomy for pathologic stage II–III GC between 2012 and 2016 were reviewed. Patients were divided into an AC completion group (group C), AC incompletion group (group I), and surgery-only group (group S). The AC regimen was either tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil (S-1) or capecitabine plus oxaliplatin (XELOX). @*Results@#The study enrolled 417 patients; group C had 222 patients, group I had 110, and group S had 85. The most common reason for not initiating AC was poor general condition (36.5%), while chemotherapy-related complications was the common reason for AC incompletion (43.6%). In multivariate analysis, age over 65 years, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status ≥1, Charlson comorbidity index ≥1, and the presence of postoperative complications were independent risk factors for not initiating AC (odds ratio: 4.32, 2.62, 1.84, and 2.17, respectively). Age over 65 years, longer postoperative stay, and XELOX regimen were significant risk factors for incompletion of AC (odds ratio: 2.68, 1.72, and 2.23, respectively). @*Conclusion@#Old age, poor performance status, comorbidities, and postoperative complications, longer postoperative hospital stay, and XELOX regimen were associated with poor compliance with AC in GC patients. Clinicians can improve compliance with AC by managing postoperative complications and selecting the most appropriate treatment regimen.

ABSTRACT

With the advantages of extensive sources, easy collection, renewability, high yield, carbon circulation, low pollution, and so on, Chinese medicinal solid waste can be converted into clean gas by pyrolysis and gasification, which is then able to serve for industrial production. This is of great practical significance in the context of energy shortage and for solid waste recycling in China. This paper reviews the research progress on biomass gasification principle, gasification medium, and reactor in gasification technology of Chinese medicinal solid waste in recent years. Meanwhile, based on the summary of related research, the defects and improvement measures regarding raw materials, gasification agents, by-products, and reactors were discussed, which provides direction for further development in the gasification technology of Chinese medicinal solid waste in the future.

ABSTRACT

Exosomes are nanometer-sized membranous extracellular vesicles that can be secreted by almost all types of cells in the body. Exosomes are involved in cell-to-cell communication through autocrine and paracrine forms. Exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) are stable in plasma, urine and other body fluids, and have various biological functions. They play an irreplaceable role in the occurrence, development, immune regulation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Recent studies have proposed that exosomal miRNAs have promising application prospects in the pathogenesis, early diagnosis, and treatment of SLE. Therefore, this review aims to introduce the current research progress on exosomal miRNAs in SLE and analyze their potential application value.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Macrophages are involved in the pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, partially by activating lung fibroblasts. However, how macrophages communicate with lung fibroblasts is largely unexplored. Exosomes can mediate intercellular communication, whereas its role in lung fibrogenesis is unclear. Here we aim to investigate whether exosomes can mediate the crosstalk between macrophages and lung fibroblasts and subsequently induce fibrosis.@*METHODS@#In vivo, bleomycin (BLM)-induced lung fibrosis model was established and macrophages infiltration was examined. The effects of GW4869, an exosomes inhibitor, on lung fibrosis were assessed. Moreover, macrophage exosomes were injected into mice to observe its pro-fibrotic effects. In vitro, exosomes derived from angiotensin II (Ang II)-stimulated macrophages were collected. Then, lung fibroblasts were treated with the exosomes. Twenty-four hours later, protein levels of α-collagen I, angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R), transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), and phospho-Smad2/3 (p-Smad2/3) in lung fibroblasts were examined. The Student's t test or analysis of variance were used for statistical analysis.@*RESULTS@#In vivo, BLM-treated mice showed enhanced infiltration of macrophages, increased fibrotic alterations, and higher levels of Ang II and AT1R. GW4869 attenuated BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis. Mice with exosomes injection showed fibrotic features with higher levels of Ang II and AT1R, which was reversed by irbesartan. In vitro, we found that macrophages secreted a great number of exosomes. The exosomes were taken by fibroblasts and resulted in higher levels of AT1R (0.22 ± 0.02 vs. 0.07 ± 0.02, t = 8.66, P = 0.001), TGF-β (0.54 ± 0.05 vs. 0.09 ± 0.06, t = 10.00, P < 0.001), p-Smad2/3 (0.58 ± 0.06 vs. 0.07 ± 0.03, t = 12.86, P < 0.001) and α-collagen I (0.27 ± 0.02 vs. 0.16 ± 0.01, t = 7.01, P = 0.002), and increased Ang II secretion (62.27 ± 7.32 vs. 9.56 ± 1.68, t = 12.16, P < 0.001). Interestingly, Ang II increased the number of macrophage exosomes, and the protein levels of Alix (1.45 ± 0.15 vs. 1.00 ± 0.10, t = 4.32, P = 0.012), AT1R (4.05 ± 0.64 vs. 1.00 ± 0.09, t = 8.17, P = 0.001), and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (2.13 ± 0.36 vs. 1.00 ± 0.10, t = 5.28, P = 0.006) were increased in exosomes secreted by the same number of macrophages, indicating a positive loop between Ang II and exosomes production.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Exosomes mediate intercellular communication between macrophages and fibroblasts plays an important role in BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective:Ameloblastoma (AM) is a rare tumor derived from dental epithelial tissues, which is prone to recurrence and infiltration. This study aims to identify the prognostic factors of AM.Methods:207 ameloblastoma patients were screened from the SEER database. A Cox regression model and nomogram were constructed to evaluate the factors on the overall survival. Clinical data of 61 patients admitted to Hunan Cancer Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The independent factors of recurrence rate were analyzed by the Cox regression model.Results:The results on the SEER database showed that age, tumor size, type of surgery, radiotherapy were important prognostic factors of the overall survival. The nomogram was constructed and the C-index was equaled to 0.821, indicating this model was moderately accurate. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve demonstrated that the area under the ROC curve (AUC) at 1, 3, 5, and 10 years were 0.852, 0.869, 0.856, and 0.879, indicating this model had relatively high sensitivity and specificity. Kaplan- Meier survival analysis suggested that overall survival in the high-risk group was significantly lower than that in the low-risk group ( P<0.001). Based on retrospective analysis, clinical symptoms and type of surgery were the independent factors of the local recurrence rate. Kaplan- Meier survival analysis found the recurrence rate of facial swelling and pain was lower compared to those of other symptoms. Compared with the palliative surgery, radical surgery could decrease the recurrence rate. Conclusions:Age, tumor size, type of surgery, and radiotherapy may be important factors of the overall survival. Type of surgery and clinical symptoms are probably the independent factors of the recurrence rate.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare the early outcome of proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) and bipolar hemiarthroplasty in treatment of intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients aged 90 years or more.Methods:A retrospective case-control study was conducted to analyze the clinical data of 43 elderly patients aged 90 years or more with intertrochanteric fractures admitted to Henan Provincial People's Hospital from January 2017 to June 2018. There were 12 males and 31 females, aged 90-102 years [(92.3±2.5)years]. A total of 31 patients were treated by PFNA (PFNA group) and 12 patients by bipolar hemiarthroplasty (hemiarthroplasty group). Comparisons were made between the two groups in terms of operation time, intraoperative blood loss, time of weight bearing after operation, rate of blood transfusion, incidence of complications 2 weeks and 3 months after operation, Harris score 12 months after operation and mortality 12 months after operation.Results:All patients were followed up for 1-30 months [(19.1±9.8)months] in PFNA group and for 0.5-29 months [(18.6±10.6)months] in hemiarthroplasty group. Operative time was (95.8±31.0)minutes in PFNA group, shorter than (128.8±40.5)minutes in hemiarthroplasty group ( P<0.05). Intraoperative blood loss was (71.3±25.7)ml in PFNA group and (212.5±113.1)ml in hemiarthroplasty group ( P<0.05). Time of weight bearing after operation was (43.9±31.9)days in PFNA group, longer than (5.9±2.8)days in hemiarthroplasty group ( P<0.05). The perioperative blood transfusion rate in PFNA group (29%) was less than hemiarthroplasty group (75%) ( P<0.05). Incidence of complications 2 weeks after operation was similar between PFNA group (23%) and hemiarthroplasty group (42%) ( P>0.05). Incidence of complications 3 months after operation in PFNA group was 26%, similar with 42% in hemiarthroplasty group ( P>0.05). Harris score 12 months after operation in PFNA group was (56.3±32.3)points, comparable to (59.3±36.7)points in hemiarthroplasty group ( P>0.05). Mortality rate 12 months after operation was 19% in PFNA group and 25% in hemiarthroplasty group ( P>0.05). Conclusion:For intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients aged 90 years or more, PFNA and bipolar hemiarthroplasty are both effective treatments, but PFNA may be a better choice with shorter operation time and less intraoperative blood loss.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the targeted relationship between the CXC chemokine ligand 10 (CXCL10) and miR-34c-5p in invasive ductal carcinoma of breast.Methods:A total of 56 cases of invasive ductal carcinoma of breast and 14 cases of benign breast tissues surgically resected and pathologically confirmed in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were collected from March 2016 to March 2017. The expressions of CXCL10 and miR-34c-5p in the two groups were detected using HTA2.0 and miRNA4.0 chips and verified by reverse transcription quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR). The correlation between the two expressions was analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis and the targeted relationship was predicted by IPA software. The dual luciferase reporter gene system was used to verify the targets of the two and finally verified in breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and ZR-75-30.Results:The results of gene microarray showed that the mRNA expression values of CXCL10 in invasive ductal carcinoma of breast and benign breast tissues were 7.135±1.350 and 4.348±0.722, and the mRNA expression values of miR-34c-5p in the two groups were 1.309 (1.001, 2.055) and 3.948 (3.278, 4.371), with a statistically significant difference ( t=7.628, P<0.001; Z=-4.405, P<0.001). Pearson correlation analysis showed that the mRNA expressions of CXCL10 and miR-34c-5p were negatively correlated ( r=-0.327, P=0.004). The expression of CXCL10 mRNA was related to the expressions of human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 ( t=2.415, P=0.019) and Ki-67 ( t=2.483, P=0.016), and the expression of miR-34c-5p mRNA was related to the histological grading ( χ2=8.626, P=0.013) and estrogen receptor/progesterone receptor ( Z=-2.195, P=0.028) in patients with invasive ductal carcinoma of breast. RT-qPCR showed that the relative expressions of CXCL10 mRNA in invasive ductal carcinoma of breast and benign breast tissues were 6.059±1.714 and 1.000±0.232, the relative expression levels of miR-34c-5p in the two groups were 0.093±0.004 and 1.000±0.244, with statistically significant differences ( t=3.484, P=0.002; t=5.112, P<0.001), which was consistent with the results of microarray. The results of double luciferase reporter gene showed that, after overexpression of miR-34c-5p, the luciferase activities of WT-CXCL10 and MUT-CXCL10 were 1.117±0.040 and 1.647±0.031 in MCF-7 cells, and the luciferase activities of them were 0.885±0.051 and 1.430±0.020 in HeLa cells, with statistically significant differences ( t=18.120, P<0.001; t=24.040, P<0.001). After transfection with miR-34c-5p and miR-NC respectively, the relative expression levels of CXCL10 were 0.008±0.000 and 0.012±0.000 in ZR-75-30 cells, and the relative expression levels of CXCL10 were 0.315±0.000 and 0.386±0.004 in MCF-7 cells, with statistically significant differences ( t=20.384, P<0.001; t=3.473, P=0.026). Conclusion:The expression of miR-34c-5p in invasive ductal carcinoma of breast is down-regulated, while the expression of CXCL10 is up-regulated. CXCL10 is the target gene of miR-34c-5p.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#The presentations and geographic incidence of pediatric non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) differfrom those of adults. This study delineated the characteristics and outcomes of pediatricNHL in East Asia. @*Materials and Methods@#Medical records of 749 pediatric patients with NHL treated at participating institutions inmainland China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan from January 2008 to December 2013 werereviewed. Demographic and clinical features, survival outcomes, and putative prognosticfactors were analyzed. @*Results@#Five hundred thirty patients (71%) were male. The most common pathologic subtypes wereBurkitt lymphoma (BL) (36%). Six hundred seven patients (81%) had advanced diseases atdiagnosis. The 5-year overall survival and event-free survival (EFS) rates were 89% and 84%.The 5-year EFS rates of BL, lymphoblastic lymphoma, and diffuse large B-cell lymphomawere 88%, 88%, and 89%, and those of anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) and peripheralT-cell lymphoma (PTCL) were 71% and 56% (p 250 IU/mL), and advanced disease at diagnosis( stage III) were associated with poor outcomes (p < 0.05). ALCL and PTCL relapsedmore frequently than other pathologic subtypes (p < 0.001). @*Conclusion@#In East Asia, PTCL was more frequent than in Western countries, and bone marrow involvementdid not affect treatment outcome. This international study should motivate future collaborativestudy on NHL in East Asia.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the risk of public health incidents in the Hankou River Beach during the 7th World Military Games, and to provide reference for risk early warning and emergency preparedness. Methods An expert consultation meeting was held to determine the evaluation index and risk scores. Based on the Kaiser model, a public health risk assessment system suitable for Hankou River Beach was established, and the risk value of each risk event was calculated by the method of risk value calculation. The risk matrix method was used to evaluate the risk levels of different risk events in different areas of Hankou River Beach. Then, according to the calculated Borda values and order values of risk events in different regions, the different risks were ranked in each area. Results The calculation revealed that the risk values of schistosomiasis in the first, second, third and fourth stages of the river beach were 8.43%, 14.68%, 25.26% and 27.56%, respectively; the risk values of vector infectious diseases in each stage were 13.42%, 16.40%, 18.67% and 19.22%; the risk values of accidental injury and other events were 20.34%, 22.94%, 19.00% and 16.53%. According to the risk matrix, the first and second stages of schistosomiasis and vector borne infectious diseases, as well as the fourth stage of accidental injuries were located in the low-risk zone, while the other risk events were in the medium risk zone. The ranking results of Borda sequence value showed that the highest risk public health events in the first and second phases of the river beach were accidental injuries and others, in the third phase was schistosomiasis and accidental injuries, and in the fourth phase was schistosomiasis. Conclusion Considering the results of each evaluation method, the public health events with the highest risk in phase I and phase II of the river beach were accidental injuries, while in phase III and phase IV were schistosomiasis. It is suggested that relevant departments should formulate different strategies and take targeted measures to ensure the public health and safety of Hankou river beach during the Military Games.

ABSTRACT

The resistance and dose limitation of tumors is a serious obstacle to cytotoxic drug therapy in the field of medical oncology. Nitric oxide (NO) is a powerful adjuvant for tumor hypersensitivity for traditional chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The concentration of NO plays an important role in affecting its anti-tumor effect. This review summarizes the mechanism of concentration-dependent effects of NO on tumor cells and the mechanism of chemotherapy sensitization. It provides evidence for rational use of NO to exert anti-tumor effects, and overcoming multidrug resistance and anti-tumor drug development.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To observe the changes of liver function, virology and serology and the safety of drug withdrawal in pregnant women who are chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) carriers.@*Methods@#A prospective clinical cohort was established to enroll pregnant women who are chronic HBV carriers and they were divided into the nucleoside/nucleotide analogs (NAs) intervention group and the non-NAs intervention group according to patients' wishes. Liver function, HBV DNA and HBV serological markers were detected at gestation, postpartum 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 24 weeks, 36 weeks and 48 weeks.@*Results@#351 patients were enrolled, 320 in the NAs intervention group and 31 in the non-NAs intervention group. The proportion of postpartum hepatitis flares in both groups was higher than that in pregnancy (39.4% vs 12.5%, P < 0.001; 38.7% vs 3.2%, P = 0.001). Six weeks postpartum was the peak period of hepatitis flares, and 96.0% (121/126) of the hepatitis flares occurred within 24 weeks postpartum. At 6 weeks postpartum, there were 6 cases of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) ≥ 10 times upper limit of normal (ULN) in the NAs intervention group. The rate of the hepatitis flare after drug withdrawal was 16.7% (34/203).@*Conclusion@#Regardless of the presence or absence of NAs intervention, pregnant women who are chronic HBV carriers have a certain proportion of hepatitis flares during pregnancy and postpartum, and the hepatitis flare even have a tendency to be severe. Therefore, drug withdrawal after delivery is not always safe, which requires close observation and classification. At 6 weeks postpartum, the incidence of hepatitis flares was high, and those who meet the treatment indications can get better therapeutic effects if given appropriate treatment. The vast majority (96%) of postpartum hepatitis flares occur within 24 weeks, so it is recommended to follow up to at least 24 weeks postpartum after discontinuation.

Objective@#To investigate the attitude to death, work engagement and organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) in emergency nurses, and to analyze the relationships among them.@*Methods@#Two hundred and fifty-one emergency nurses were investigated with Chinese version of Death Attitude Profile-Revised (DAP-R), the Medical Personnels Work Engagement questionnaire and Medical Staffs, Organizational Citizenship Behavior questionnaire.@*Results@#The attitude to death in emergency nurses was relatively positive and the total score of DAP-R was 103.49±14.76.There were significant differences on the score of nursing ages, emergency working years and religious beliefs (F=4.584, 6.159, 5.251, P<0.01). The neutral acceptance to death was positively correlated with the work engagement (r=0.098, P<0.01) , the work engagement was negatively correlated with death avoidance (r=-0.177, P<0.01) .The neutral acceptance to death was positively correlated with the OCB, civic responsibility and responsible behavior (r=0.155, 0.161, 0.202, P<0.05 or 0.01).@*Conclusion@#The attitude to death has significant influence on work engagement and OCB in emergency nurses. Nursing administrators should through establishing an effective strategies to improve the positive attitude to death and OCB level. Ultimately, give full play to the role of the emergency department nurse in terminal care and quality of emergency medical care can be improved.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To establish a mouse model of osteoarthritis (OA) and study the bone microarchitecture and bone metabolism of tibial subchondral bone in early stage of OA.@*Methods@#The mouse model of post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) with anterior cruciate ligament (ACLT) was established by using c57 mice. The Sham operation group served as the control group. All mice were fed with conventional diet. All mice were sacrificed after 4 weeks. The degeneration of knee joint was observed by HE staining and Safranin O-Fast Green staining. The number of osteoclasts was counted by TRAP staining. Micro CT was used to analyze the quantitative parameters of the microstructure of tibia subchondral bone in mice. Serum levels of bone resorption biomarker CTX I and cartilage degeneration marker CTX II were determined.@*Results@#After ACLT 4 weeks, the average score of OARSI in ACLT group was 3.2, which was higher than that in Sham group, and the joint degeneration occurred in mice, presenting the pathological characteristics of early OA. Compared with the sham operation phase, the total subchondral bone volume (TV) of ACLT group was 4.72 mm3, increased by 13.6%; the bone trabecular resolution (Tb.Sp) was 0.130 and 0.154 mm, respectively, and the ACLT group also increased by 18.8%; the bone volume/tissue volume (BV/TV) was 0.470 and 0.294, respectively, and the ACLT group decreased by 48.9%; the bone trabecular thickness (Tb.Th) was 0.162 and 0.083 mm groups, ACLT decreased by 37.5%. Trap staining showed that the number of osteoclasts per unit volume in ACLT group was 72, which was significantly higher than that in sham operation group. The CTX I of mice in the sham operated ACLT group and sham operated group were 20.9 ng/ml and 18.29 ng/ml, with an increase of 48.9% in the ACLT group; the CTX II of mice in the ACLT group and sham operated group were 35.5 ng/ml and 28.6 ng/ml, with an increase of 24.1% in the ACLT group.@*Conclusion@#ACLT Mouse model can successfully construct early OA, which confirms the early loss of osteochondral bone and the pathological changes of osteoclast activation in OA, and provides a new specific target for the treatment of OA.

Objective@#To evaluate the reliability and validity of Chinese version of the Hypertensive Intracerebral Hemorrhage Empowerment Scale-Short Form (C-HICHES-SF).@*Methods@#A total of 207 hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage patients treated in the Department of Neurology inpatients of a three-grade hospital in Tianjin from August 2017 to January 2018 were selected by convenient sampling method. Chinese Diabetes Empowerment Scale-Short Form (C-DES-SF) was adapted into C-HICHES-SF by expert enquiry and the patients were surveyed. SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 were used for data processing.@*Results@#C-HICHES-SF contains 8 items. Its Cronbach α was 0.833, Sperman's half-reliability was 0.797, Guttman's half-reliability was 0.742, test-retest reliability was 0.787, content validity was 0.943. one common factor was extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and could explain 52.36% of the variance contribution.the confirmatory factor analysis revealed a good fit of the model to the date based on various fit indices (χ2/df ratio=1.172, GFI=0.997, AGFI= 0.949, NFI= 0.980, CFI=0.980, TLI=0.994, RMSEA=0.029).@*Conclusion@#C-HICHES-SF has fewer articles and easy to use. It has good reliability and validity in patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage, It can be used as an effective tool to measure empowerment ability.

Objective@#To study the effect of different doses of low molecular weight heparin on coagulation mechanism after thoracic surgery.@*Methods@#A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted to select patients who underwent thoracic cancer surgery (lung cancer, esophageal cancer, cardiac cancer) from February 2015 to October 2018. According to the Caprini risk assessment model, 101 patients with high risk of deep venous thrombosis were randomly assigned to groups A, B and C. Control group A (34 cases) did not use low molecular weight heparin; group B (34 cases) used prophylactic low molecular weight heparin calcium after operation; group C (33 cases) used therapeutic low molecular weight heparin calcium after operation. The platelet count (PLT), fibrinogen (FIB), prothrombin time (PT), D-dimer (D-D), postoperative thoracic drainage and lower extremity deep vein ultrasound were observed before and after operation.@*Results@#The incidence of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) was 11.76% in group A, 2.94% in group B and 3.03% in group C, with significant difference between group B and C and group A (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between group B and C (P>0.05). The levels of FIB and D-D after operation were significantly higher than those before operation (P<0.05), but the levels of indexes in group B and C were significantly lower than those in group A (P<0.05).@*Conclusions@#Low molecular weight heparin calcium does not increase bleeding and thoracic drainage, which is beneficial to improve the hypercoagulable state of patients and has good safety. However, the use of low molecular weight heparin calcium in different doses (prevention amount and treatment amount) has no significant effect on the occurrence of lower extremity deep vein thrombosis and coagulation index.

Aim: To investigate the effect of Tongluoquzhuo prescription on the intervention of non-alcoholic simple fatty liver (NAFL) rats established by chemical injury or a high-fat diet. Methods: Three testing groups, vehicle group, NAFL group and intervention group were set in the experiment of NAFL rats established by carbon tetrachloride (CC14); and those of control group, NAFL group and intervention group were set in the experiment of NAFL rats established by a high-fat diet. Blood biochemical determination, contents of hepatic lipids, CYP enzyme activity, his-topathological observation, and metabolomics analysis were measured. Results: Tongluoquzhuo prescription reduced the hepatic lipids of NAFL rats established by different methods significantly, lowered liver weight and liver index, and had dual-direction regulation of blood triglyceride (TG). CYP enzyme activity was reduced significantly in NAFL rats established by CC14, and raised significantly in intervention group. It may be effected by the pathway of phospholipid to reduce lipid accumulation in the liver of NAFL rats established by CC14, while free fatty acid was the most important factor of the interventional effect in NAFL rats established by a high-fat diet. Conclusions: Tongluoquzhuo prescription has evident effect of protecting liver and reducing lipids in NAFL rats established by different methods. On the other aspect, It shows difference between the main metabolites and metabolic padi-ways involved in the intervention of Tongluo turbidity in NAFL established by different methods. It is suggested that different metabolites are required as biomarkers, although different causes can produce similar hepatic steatosis.

β-Glucosidase activity assays constitute an important indicator for the early diagnosis of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis and qualitative changes in medicinal plants. The drawbacks of the existing methods are high consumption of both time and reagents, complexity in operation, and requirement of expensive instruments and highly trained personnel. The present study provides a simplified, highly selective, and miniaturized glucometer-based strategy for the detection of β-glucosidase activity. Single-factor experiments showed that optimum β-glucosidase activity was exhibited at 50 °C and pH 5.0 in a citric acid-sodium citrate buffer when reacting with 0.03 g/mL salicin for 30 min. The procedure for detection was simplified without the need of a chromogenic reaction. Validation of the analytical method demonstrated that the accuracy, precision, repeatability, stability, and durability were good. The linear ranges of β-glucosidase in a buffer solution and rat serum were 0.0873–1.5498 U/mL and 0.4076–2.9019 U/mL, respectively. The proposed method was free from interference from β-dextranase, snailase, β-galactosidase, hemicellulase, and glucuronic acid released by baicalin. This demonstrated that the proposed assay had a higher selectivity than the conventional dinitrosalicylic acid (DNS) assay because of the specificity for salicin and unique recognition of glucose by a personal glucose meter. Miniaturization of the method resulted in a microassay for β-glucosidase activity. The easy-to-operate method was successfully used to detect a series of β-glucosidases extracted from bitter almonds and cultured by Aspergillus niger. In addition, the simplified and miniaturized glucometer-based assay has potential application in the point-of-care testing of β-glucosidase in many fields, including medical diagnostics, food safety, and environmental monitoring.
