ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE To optimize the honey processing technology of Phellinus igniarius. METHODS The key factors of honey processing technology of P. igniarius (honey-water ratio, the mass ratio of honey-water to P. igniarius, the frying temperature and the frying time) were investigated by orthogonal test combined with analytic hierarchy process to determine the optimal technological parameters, using the internal quality (the contents of ergosterol, protocatechuic aldehyde and protocatechuic acid) and appearance traits as evaluation indexes. RESULTS The optimal process of honey-roasting P. igniarius was to take raw P. igniarius (1 cm3 square block), add the appropriate amount of auxiliary materials (with 25 kg of refined honey and water for every 100 kg of P. igniarius), mix well, moisten for 2 h until the auxiliary materials were completely absorbed; put it in a frying container, fry at the frying temperature of 130-140 ℃ for 5 min; take it out, put it in an oven at 50 ℃ for 2 h; take it out, and let it cool. The RSD of the results of three validation experiments was 0.68%. CONCLUSIONS The optimized honey processing technology of P. igniarius is stable and feasible.

ABSTRACT
ObjectiveTo explore the clinical efficacy of Gouteng prescription in treating the patients with primary hypertension with anxiety disorder due to yang hyperactivity and heat toxin and the impact of the formula on the balance of inflammatory cytokines. MethodA total of 98 patients diagnosed with primary hypertension and anxiety disorder were randomized into control and observation groups. On the basis of conventional western medicine treatment for hypertension, the control group (47 patients) was treated with Shugan Jieyu capsules for 8 weeks, while the treatment group (51 patients) with Gouteng prescription for 8 weeks. The two groups were compared in terms of the blood pressure level, 24-hour blood pressure variability, Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) score, Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) score, quality of life (SF-36 scale) score, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome score and efficacy, incidence of adverse reactions, and the levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-4 in the serum of peripheral blood. ResultThe final trial was completed with 95 patients, including 46 in the control group and 49 in the observation group. The treatment in both groups lowered the blood pressure and blood pressure variability (P<0.05, P<0.01). The observation group outperformed the control group in recovering the systolic blood pressure (SBP), 24-hour mean systolic blood pressure (24 h SBP), 24-hour systolic blood pressure variability (24 h SBPV), and 24-hour diastolic blood pressure variability (24 h DBPV) (P<0.05). After treatment, the HAMA and PSQI scores in both groups decreased (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the observation group had lower HAMA and PSQI scores than the control group (P<0.05). Compared with those before treatment, the SF-36 scores in both groups increased (P<0.05, P<0.01). After treatment, the observation group had higher scores of physiological function (PF), bodily pain (BP), social function (SF), role-emotional (RE), and mental health (MH) indicators than the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores in both groups decreased (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the observation group had lower score than the control group (P<0.05). The total response rate regarding TCM syndrome in the observation group was 85.71% (42/49), which was higher than that (63.04%, 29/46) in the control group (χ2=6.621, P<0.05). The treatment in both groups lowered the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6) and elevated the levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-10, IL-4) (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the changes were more obvious in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). There were no adverse events during the research process. ConclusionGouteng prescription can recover the blood pressure level, reduce blood pressure variability, suppress anxiety state, improve sleep and quality of life, decrease TCM syndrome score, increase total response rate, lower serum IL-1β and IL-6 levels, and elevate serum IL-10 and IL-4 levels in the patients with primary hypertension complicated with anxiety disorder due to yang hyperactivity and heat toxin. It may exert the effects by regulating the balance of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines.

ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate the correlation between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene C677T polymorphism and plasma homocysteine (Hcy) levels and white matte hyperintensities (WMHs). Methods PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Weipu and Wanfang databases were retrieved to search studies on correlation between MTHFR gene C677T polymorphism and plasma Hcy levels and WMHs. The search deadline was October 31, 2018. Stata 14.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results Six eligible literatures on the correlation between MTHFR gene and WMHs were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that there was no significant correlation between MTHFR C677T gene polymorphism and WMHs in 5 genetic models (T allele vs. C allele, TC vs. CC genotype, TT vs. CC genotype, TT+TC vs. CC genotype, and TT vs. TC+CC genotype). A total of 22 eligible literatures on the correlation between plasma Hcy level and WMHs were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that the plasma Hcy levels in patients with WMHs were significantly higher than those in the control group (weighted mean difference 3.48, 95% confidence interval 2.36-4.60; Z=6.03, P<0.01). Conclusions There was no significant correlation between MTHFR gene C677T polymorphism and WMHs, and the elevated plasma Hcy levels may be a risk factor for WMHs.

Objective To measure the accuracy of multi-leaves collimator (MLC) leaves positions in intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for verification purpose. Methods Solid water homogeneous phantom with size of 30 cm× 30 cm was scanned by CT scanner. The scanned images were delivered to radiation therapy plan system (TPS) to formulate the therapy plan. The MLC leaves created 5 strips of exposure field, each 3 cm long and 0.6 cm wide. The strip-to-strip distance was 3 cm.With 6 MV X-rays,the SSD was 100 cm at the maximum dose point. The MU per strip was 250 MU.EBT2 radiochromic films each of 25 cm×25 cm were placed on the 30 cm×30 cm homogeneous solid phantom and covered with 1 cm thick solid phantom slabs for delivering of IMRT.Results For 7 of 8 accelerators, the differences of film-measured and TPS-planned MLC leaf position for every fence field were within ± 0.5 mm as required by IAEA,with only other one being-0.6 mm,not consistent with the IAEA requirements. The film-measured position difference between each pair and all pairs of leaves for 8 accelerators were all in line with IAEA's requirements. The film-measured actual width difference between each pair and all pairs of leaves was within ±0.75 mm as required by IAEA for 4 accelerators and outside ±0.75 mm for the other three, not consistent with the IAEA requirements. The standard deviation of film-measured actual width between each pair and all pairs of leaves for 6 accelerators were ≤ 0.3 mm,as required by IAEA,whereas >0.3 mm for the other two,not consistent with IAEA requirements. Conclusions The film dosimetric verification of IMRT is an important part of its quality assurance, featuring simple, reliable and highly accurate positioning and can meet measurement requirement.
ABSTRACT
The interplay between mechanoresponses and a broad range of fundamental biological processes, such as cell cycle progression, growth and differentiation, has been extensively investigated. However, metabolic regulation in mechanobiology remains largely unexplored. Here, we identified glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1)-the primary glucose transporter in various cells-as a novel mechanosensitive gene in orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). Using an in vivo rat OTM model, we demonstrated the specific induction of Glut1 proteins on the compressive side of a physically strained periodontal ligament. This transcriptional activation could be recapitulated in in vitro cultured human periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs), showing a time- and dose-dependent mechanoresponse. Importantly, application of GLUT1 specific inhibitor WZB117 greatly suppressed the efficiency of orthodontic tooth movement in a mouse OTM model, and this reduction was associated with a decline in osteoclastic activities. A mechanistic study suggested that GLUT1 inhibition affected the receptor activator for nuclear factor-κ B Ligand (RANKL)/osteoprotegerin (OPG) system by impairing compressive force-mediated RANKL upregulation. Consistently, pretreatment of PDLCs with WZB117 severely impeded the osteoclastic differentiation of co-cultured RAW264.7 cells. Further biochemical analysis indicated mutual regulation between GLUT1 and the MEK/ERK cascade to relay potential communication between glucose uptake and mechanical stress response. Together, these cross-species experiments revealed the transcriptional activation of GLUT1 as a novel and conserved linkage between metabolism and bone remodelling.

ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the interaction between warfarin and antiepileptic drugs such as carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine. Methods A 78-year-old woman suffered from warfarin resistance after initial warfarin dosing for several days.Based on her medication review, clinical pharmacist found that the warfarin resistance resulted from co-administered carbamazepine. Her warfarin dosage was increased, and the international normalized ratio (INR) increased to the target range.Another woman had been taking warfarin therapy for long time with a stable maintenance dose. She consulted clinical pharmacist for the influence of co-administered oxcarbazepine on warfarin. The patient was advised to maintain the dose and monitor her INR more closely. Her INR did not fluctuate. Results Carbamazepine induced warfarin metabolism. As a result, the patient needed increased dosage of warfarin to maintain the INR in the therapeutic target range.Oxcarbazepine does not induce liver enzymes, and therefore the INR did not fluctuate. Conclusion Carbamazepine may reduce the efficacy of warfarin.Oxcarbazepine offers a clinical advantage over carbamazepine, especially when co-administration of warfarin is required.

The treatment group was intervened by the comprehensive muscle-region therapy based on Chuang medicine (muscle-region tuina, fire-needle acupuncture of Chuang medicine, and cupping), while the control group was by regular acupuncture treatment. The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score and symptoms and signs scores were observed before and after intervention, and the clinical efficacies were compared.Result The VAS scores respectively after 1 and 2 treatment courses were significantly different from that before intervention in the treatment group (P<0.05,P<0.01). The VAS score after 2 treatment courses was significantly different from that before intervention in the control group (P<0.05). After 2 treatment courses, the VAS score in the treatment group was significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the symptoms and signs scores (pain intensity, pain-affected area, number of tender points, limited motion, and general score) were significantly different from that before intervention in the treatment group (P<0.01, P<0.05). In the control group, the pain intensity, limited motion and general score after treatment were significantly different from that before intervention (P<0.05,P<0.01). After treatment, the symptoms and signs scores in the treatment group were significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.05,P<0.01). The total effective rate was 100.0% in the treatment group versus 84.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Comprehensive muscle- region therapy in Chuang medicine is an effective approach in treating cervical spondylosis of neck type.
ABSTRACT
Objective To study the effects of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) in delayed encephalopathy in rats after acute carbon monoxide poisoning. Methods One hundred and sixty-eight rats were randomly divided into three groups: forty-eight rats in the blank control group (BC group), sixty rats in the air control group (AC group) as well as in the carbon monoxide poisoning group (CO group). The DEACMP model was established by improved intraperitoneal injections. The animals were valuated at 1st ,3rd, 7th, 14th, 21th, 28th day after acute carbon monoxide poisoning. Tunnel method was used to test the pyramidal cell apoptosis in the hippocampal CA1 area. The expression of Nrf2 was tested by immunohistochemical method and Western Blot method. Result In the CO group, the apoptosis index (AI) started to increase from first day and achieved it's peak at the 7th day (20.20 ± 1.78), then began to decrease slowly. The apoptosis index was still higher than that in the other groups at 28th day. And the apoptosis index of the CO group was markedly higher than the other two groups at each time point. The Nrf2 protein started to increase from 1st day in the CO group , reached its peak at 3rd day (8.20 ± 1.08), reduced later, maintained at a high level at 28th day, and expressed significantly higher than other groups at each time point. Conclusions The Nrf2 has a linear correlation with apoptosis , and plays a dual role in DEACMP because it rapidly increased in first three days to against apoptosis. But it continuously has been excessive expressed from 7th to 28th day in promoting the apoptosis of hippocampus pyramidal cells and may be a positive factor in DEACMP.
