ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the application effect of formative assessment on the standardized training in pediatric residents. Methods A total of 36 pediatric residents who attended the standardized training in affiliated hospital of Nantong university were randomly divided into 2 groups (18 in the experimental group and 18 in the control group) and trained in accordance with the standardized training content and standard of the national resident of pediatrics.Residents in the experimental group received formative assessment, with total score including process assessment (35%),graduation examination (50%),medicalethics (5%),reading report (5%) and work attendance (5%).While the other 18 residents in the control group received traditional assessment, with final score of graduation examination. The effectiveness of formative assessment was conducted via analysis of test score and self evaluation. The SPSS 17.0 was used for statistics, independent sample t test was used to perform inter-group comparison and Pearson correlation coefficient was used to demonstrate the correlation.P<0.05 signifies statistically significant differences. Results In the experimental group, the process evaluation and the graduation examination were both positively related with the total score (r=0.953,r=0.966,P=0.00).In the graduation examination, the scores of clinical practice skills test and case analysis in the experimental group were both higher than those in the control group [(12.03 ± 1.51) vs.(10.83 ± 1.42),(12.03 ± 1.40) vs.(10.83 ± 1.29),P<0.05],with statistically significant differences. The self evaluation of trainees showed that the clinical-inference and decisionmaking ability, the self-study ability, scores of attitudes and professionalism and total scores in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusion The application of formative evaluation on the standardized training in pediatric residents is beneficial to improve the training effect and is worth popularizing.
ABSTRACT
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy ofTiaozhong YifeiPrescription combined with Western therapy for treatment of cough variant asthma (CVA) remission. Methods Totally 90 patients with CVA remission were randomly divided into TCM group, Western therapy group and TCM and Western therapy group, 30 cases in each group. TCM group was givenTiaozhong YifeiPrescription, 1 dose per day, morning and evening; Western therapy group was given salmeterol xinafoate and fluticasone propionate powder for inhalation, each 1 suction, 2 times a day, inhalation; a mixture ofTiaozhong YifeiPrescription and xinafoate and fluticasone propionate powder for inhalation was given to TCM and Western therapy group, the same as above, continuous treatment for 12 weeks. TCM syndrome score, EOS, IgE, pulmonary function and safety index were observed in the three groups before and after treatment. The recurrence rate and the number of colds after three-month treatment were observed. Results TCM syndrome scores in the three groups decreased after treatment (P0.05). After treatment, the maximum expiratory flow in TCM and Western therapy groupwas higher than that before treatment and lower than that in the Western therapy group (P0.05). 1 mild adverse reaction was found in the TCM and Western therapy, and no obvious adverse reactions were found in other groups (P<0.05).ConclusionTiaozhong Yifei Prescription has good clinical efficacy for CVA.
ABSTRACT
Objective To discuss teaching methods of TCM lectures for students of Western medicine in colleges and universities. Methods Totally 36 studens majoring in Western medicine from Capital Medical University were involved in the study. The first questionnaire survey showed the interest of those students. According to the students' response, the topics for the lectures were determined. The purpose for the second questionnaire was to investigate the teaching outcomes. Results The recovery rate for the first questionnaire was 100%, and the effective rate was also 100%. Students showed interest in the course of Introduction of TCM Health Maintenance, with few different ideas. The recovery rate for the second questionnaire was 88.89%, and the effective rate was also 88.89%. Students were relatively satisfied with lecture teaching, with few different ideas. Conclusion Lecture teaching can promote students' interest and teaching quality.
