ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the origin of infection and risk factors of a case with SARS-CoV-2 infection associated with overseas countries in the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, Zhejiang Province, so as to provide the evidence for improving the COVID-19 control measures at ports.@*Methods@#Ningbo Center for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC ) and Beilun CDC conducted case finding and epidemiological surveys immediately after being informed. The general information, history of vaccination and the travel during the latest 14 days were collected from the positive case, and all close contacts were tracked. Saliva samples were collected for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid testing and whole-genome sequencing, and the sequencing results were aligned with the GISAID's EpiCoV database. The origin of infection and transmission route of the positive case was investigated.@*Results@#A case was identified positive for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid during company M's routine screening in the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port on August 10, 2021, and was confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid by Beilun CDC and Ningbo CDC on August 11. Whole-genome sequencing showed SARS-CoV-2 B.1.617.2 ( Delta ) variant, which shared the highest homology with the virus sequence uploaded by Russia on June, 2021 ( Russia/MOW-RII-MH27356S/2021 ). The case was a bundling worker for overseas container ships, and reported communicated with foreign boatmen and contacted materials without protected interventions on the SINOKOR AKITA Container Ship between August 4 and 5, 2021. This ship anchored at Vladivostok, Russia from July 27 to 29, anchored at Ningbo Harbor on August 4, and departed on August 5. Then, 11 boatmen from this ship were tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid on August 8. One asymptomatic case was reported in this epidemic; 254 close contacts and 617 secondary close contacts were identified, and all were tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid. No new cases with SARS-CoV-2 infections were detected until August 25, 2021, and the emergency response was therefore terminated.@*Conclusions@#The infection was a sporadic COVID-19 epidemic associated with overseas countries, which was caused by Delta variant infection through contacts with foreign boatmen or materials by a bundling worker in Ningbo-Zhoushan Port; fortunately, no epidemic spread occurred. Intensified closed-loop management and increased frequency of SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid test among high-risk populations, and improving the precision and rapid emergency treatment of COVID-19 epidemics are required for the containment of COVID-19 at ports.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the genetic diversity of Aedes albopictus populations in the coastal areas of southern China by using the microsatellite markers to provide a basis for the control of vectors.@*Methods@#Genetic diversity and clustering analysis of Aedes albopictus populations were studied in the 7 microsatellite loci, in Hangzhou, Ningbo and Yiwu of Zhejiang province, Longyan of Fujian province, Guangzhou of Guangdong province, Nanning of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Haikou of Hainan province.@*Results@#Numbers of different alleles (5.429-7.571), effective alleles (2.897-3.632), allele richness (5.236-7.170) and expected heterozygosity (0.538- 0.637) were detected from each of the Aedes albopictus population by using 7 microsatellite markers. The inbreeding coefficients appeared as 0.008-0.332, with heterozygote deficiency, in these populations. Fixation index of the whole populations was 0.058, suggesting that the genetic variation among the 7 populations was 5.8%. Data from the Neighbor-Joining clustering analysis showed that populations from Hangzhou and Yiwu belonged to one branch while Longyan and Guangzhou populations constituted another branch. Aedes albopictus populations of Nanning and Haikou showed great genetic variation but formed a single branch. Bayesian analysis on Aedes albopictus populations showed that the possible number of clusters was 3.@*Conclusions@#Based on 7 microsatellite loci, relatively high genetic diversity and medium level of genetic differentiation that increasing with the geographical distances, were found in these Aedes albopictus populations, from the coastal areas in southern China.

ABSTRACT

Objective@# To apply DNA barcoding to identifying the rodents in Zhejiang Province. @*Methods @#Rodents were captured from Jiashan,Longyou,Yunhe and Ninghai counties in Zhejiang Province. The DNA was extracted from ears of rodent samples, and was amplified and sequenced with mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase subunit I(COI)genes. The obtained sequences were compared with the related sequences in GenBank, and neighbour-joining evolutionary tree was constructed. Then the results by DNA barcoding and by morphological identification were compared. @*Results @#A total of 22 COI gene samples were amplified. The evolutionary tree constructed by 18 samples was consistent with the morphological identification results and 4 samples were different:Suncus murinus should be Crocidura lasiura, infant rats of Rattus losea and Rattus tanezumi was re-identified as Rattus rattus, infant rats of Microtus fortis(sample number:NH-1)needs further identification. @*Conclusion @#DNA barcoding can effectively correct the errors of morphological identification, thus combining the two methods could improve the accuracy of rodent identification.

ABSTRACT

@#Mosquito control and "mosquito-free village" construction in rural areas played positive roles in preventing mosquito-borne diseases and improving rural living environments. However, there was a lack of the target and specific evaluation system for mosquito control and prevention in rural areas. Based on the main contents of mosquito control works in rural areas, the national standards for mosquito control and practical experiences for“mosquito-free village”construction in Zhejiang Province,we built a evaluation system suitable for mosquito control in rural areas,in order to provide reference for the evaluation standard and the sustainable development of mosquito control in rural areas. This evaluation system included four indices named mosquito density control, village administration, health education and the villagers' attitude;each index had three levels named A,B and C from high to low. When all the four indices were evaluated as C,the village was regarded as basically meeting the requirements of mosquito control;when all the four indices were evaluated as A,the village was regarded as a "mosquito-free village".

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To summarize the treatment experience of patients with different degree of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) caused by inhalation of white smoke from burning smoke bomb.@*Methods@#A batch of 13 patients with different degree of ARDS caused by inhalation of white smoke from burning smoke bomb, including 2 patients complicated by pulmonary fibrosis at the late stage, were admitted to our unit in February 2016. Patients were divided into mild (9 cases), moderate (2 cases), and serious (2 cases) degree according to the ARDS Berlin diagnostic criteria. Patients with mild and moderate ARDS were conventionally treated with glucocorticoid. Patients with severe ARDS were sequentially treated with glucocorticoid and pirfenidone, and ventilator-assisted breathing, etc. were applied. The vital signs, arterial oxygenation index, changes of lung imaging, pulmonary ventilation function, general condition, and the other important organs/systems function were timely monitored according to the condition of patients. The above indexes were also monitored during the follow-up time of 10-15 months post injury. Data were processed with SPSS 18.0 statistical software.@*Results@#(1) The symptoms of respiratory system of patients with mild and moderate ARDS almost disappeared after 3 days′ treatment. Their arterial oxygenation index was decreased from post injury day 1 to 4, which almost recovered on post injury day 7 and completely recovered one month post injury. The symptoms of respiratory system of patients with severe ARDS almost disappeared at tranquillization condition 1-3 month (s) post injury. Their arterial oxygenation index was decreased from post injury day 3 to 21, which gradually recovered 1-3 month (s) post injury and was normal 15 months post injury. (2) Within 24 hours post injury, there was no obvious abnormality or only a little texture enlargement of lung in image of chest CT or X-rays of patients with mild and moderate ARDS. One patient with moderate ARDS had diffuse patchy and ground-glass like increased density shadow (pulmonary exudation for short) at post injury hour 96. Chest iconography of all patients with mild and moderate ARDS showed no abnormalities 10 months post injury. Both lungs of each of the two patients with severe ARDS showed obvious pulmonary exudation at post injury hours 45 and 75, respectively. One patient with severe ARDS showed no abnormality in chest image 10 months post injury, but there was still a small mesh-like increased density shadow in double lobes with slight adhesion of pleura in the other patient with severe ARDS 15 months post injury. (3) All patients showed severe restrictive hypoventilation when admitted to hospital. Pulmonary ventilation function of patients with mild and moderate ARDS recovered to normal one month post injury, and they could do exercises like running, etc. Pulmonary ventilation function of one patient with severe ARDS recovered to normal 6 months post injury, and the patient could do exercises like running, etc. The other patient with severe ARDS showed mild restrictive hypoventilation 15 months post injury and could do exercises like rapid walking, etc. (4) The condition of all mild and one moderate ARDS patients was better on post injury day 3, and they were transferred to the local hospital for subsequent treatment and left hospital on post injury day 21. One patient with moderate ARDS healed and left hospital on post injury day 29. Patients with severe ARDS healed and left hospital on post injury day 81. During the follow-up time of 10-15 months post injury, the other important organs/systems of all patients showed no abnormality, and there was no adverse reaction of glucocorticoid like osteoporosis, femoral head necrosis, or metabolic disorder. Two patients with severe ARDS did not have any adverse reaction of pirfenidone like liver function damage, photosensitivity, anorexia, or lethargy.@*Conclusions@#Early enough and uninterrupted application of glucocorticoid can significantly reduce the ARDS of patients caused by inhalation of white smoke from burning smoke bomb. Sequential application of glucocorticoid and pirfenidone can effectively treat pulmonary fibrosis at the late stage.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Schwann cells are important celllines in the process of repairing peripheral nerve injury, and human amniotic homogenate supernatant is shown to secrete a variety of cytokines, which could promote the proliferation of Schwann cells. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of different concentrations of human amniotic homogenate supernatant on the proliferation of rat Schwann cell96. METHODS:Schwann cell96 was cultured with high-glucose DMEM containing 20%fetal bovine serum, and the second generation of Schwann cell96 was applied for experiments. The cultured cells were divided into five groups according to different volume fractions of human amniotic homogenate supernatant (0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%) in the medium. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The total protein concentration of human amniotic homogenate supernatant was 675μg/mL, in which the concentration of epidermal growth factor, basic fibroblast growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor were respectively (470.625±2.546), (4.121±0.026) and (0.172±0.002) ng/L. At 1-7 days, the cellproliferation rate of the 10%and 15%concentration groups was greater than that in 20%and 25%concentration groups (P0.05). Low concentrations (10%, 15%) of human amniotic homogenate supernatant promote the proliferation of Schwann cell96, while high concentrations (20%, 25%) of human amniotic homogenate supernatant inhibit cellproliferation.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: A three-dimensional spiral computer tomography can display stereoscopic pictures with multi angles on films or computer screens. However, it is hard to display complex three-dimensional anatomical morphology on two-dimensional films or computer screens. Thus, three-dimensional models are needed in craniomaxillofacial surgery simulation or conceptual design.OBJECTIVE: To establish a three-dimensional skull model using spiral computer tomography data and to explore its application in craniofacial surgery.METHODS: Skull of the patient was scanned with Picker 6000 spiral computer tomography with 2.0 slice thickness and 1.0 pitch, and the obtained data were treated in Voxel Q image workstation for three-dimensional reconstruction with volume rendering technique. After having been downloaded to personal computer at 0.1 mm interval, the transaxial two-dimensional image data were converted into two-dimensional digitized contour data by using image processing software developed by the experimental team. The wire frame and solid images of craniofacial triangular facets could be reconstructed when the digitized data were inputted into image processing software of Surfacer 9.0.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The three-dimensional wire frame and solid image of skull was reconstructed and computer aided design for plastic operation was accomplished on it. Then the simulacrum of underlay was obtained by rapid prototyping technology. A three-dimensional skull model could be established using spiral computer tomography data. It might play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of tumors, injuries and abnormality in craniofacial surgery.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: There are many methods for repairing the hemifacial atrophy, the most common is preparing plaster facial mold of the patient, with wax piled on the surface to restore the patient's facial shape, and wax pattern serves as a reference of surgical pad. However, the therapeutic effect for the correction and treatment is not satisfactory due to varied abnormality and difficult plans.OBJECTIVE: To discuss the feasibility of manufacturing underlay for the treatment of hemifacial atrophy using computer-assisted design and rapid prototyping technology. METHODS: Skull of the hemifacial atrophy patient was scanned with Picker 6000 SCT, and the data obtained were processed in Voxel Q image workstation for 3-D reconstruction with volume rendering technique. After the interval lamination, the images were downloaded at 0.4-mm interval in a BMP format using CuteFTP 4.0 software. Then the transaxial 2-D image data were converted into digitized 2-D contour data by using image processing software developed by experimental team through a series of processes, including filtering, screening, noise reduction, and distortion correction. The edges and contour of the images was extracted to obtain a vector diagram of facial cranial cortical bone contour line. The digitized data were inputted into image processing software of Surfacer 9.0 for vector superposing, thus the 3-D wire frame and solid images of skull could be reconstructed. According to mirror-image symmetry relation, the point-cloud data of facial bone on the normal side was duplicated to the atrophied side. Thus a 3-D model of the underlay was produced between the atrophied bone and the mirror image of normal side. In order to compensate the atrophy of soft tissues, the model was designed 1.5 mm thicker. After the three-dimensional Surfacer data on the CAD were re-stratified, the contour editing of the underlay and the supporting set of prototype were completed in RpDataRepare, forming RP files and creating underlay template through rapidly output of the processing file for rapid prototyping required, as a reference of surgical procedures.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The 3-D solid model of the patient skull bone surface contour was obtained and simulacrum of the underlay was prepared with computer assistance and rapid prototyping. According to the simulacrum, the operation was carried out and got a satisfactory result. The manufacture of underlay for the treatment of hemifacial atrophy could be accomplished by computer assisted design and rapid prototyping in a highly precise and rapid manner. It is a promising technique in the field of individualized underlay making in craniofacial surgery.
