ABSTRACT
Objective To detect the expressions of intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1)and nu-clear factor(NF)-κB in hepatic tissues of the patients with chronic hepatitis B,and to analyze their correlation with the hepatic inflammatory activity and fibrosis degree. Methods The liver biopsy specimens from 66 pa-tients with hepatitis B and 10 non-hepatopathic controls were selected, and immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization were used to detect ICAM-1 and NF-κB expression levels in different liver tissues. Results The positive rate of ICAM-1 and NF-κB expression in liver tissues of the patients with chronic hepatitis B was higher than that in normal liver tissues, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The expres-sion of ICAM-1 and NF-κB in the patients with hepatitis B was positively correlated with the inflammatory ac-tivity and fibrosis degree(r=0.493,0.496,P<0.01;r=0.580,0.519,P<0.01).Conclusion ICAM-1 and NF-κB in the patients with chronic hepatitis B are highly expressed, which is useful in judging the hepatic in-flammatory activity and fibrosis degree.
ABSTRACT
【Objective】 To study the changes in erythrocyte osmotic fragility(EOF) in patients with hypercythemia, polycythemia and anemia under a high altitude environment. 【Methods】 A total of 174 outpatients, inpatients and people undergoing physical examination in Tibet Autonomous Region People′s Hospital in October 2020 were enrolled and divided into four groups according to hemoglobin levels: the polycythemia group(n=42), the physiologic increase group(n=48), the anemia group(n=29) and the healthy control group(n=55). They were compared with 67 anemia patients and 67 healthy people in the laboratory of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in the same period as the plain control group. The classic EOF test method was used to compare the results of each group′s EOF. The concentrations of NaCl solution for starting hemolysis (STH) and NaCl solution for complete hemolysis (CTH) were included, and the data were statistically analyzed by SPSS software. 【Results】 There was a significant difference in CTH between Zang and Han healthy people (P<0.05). STH in high altitude polycythemia group(0.52) was higher than that in high altitude healthy control group(0.48) (P<0.001). Compared with plain, the median CTH of plateau anemia group(0.36) and plateau health control group(0.36) was significantly higher than that of plain anemia group(0.28) and plain control group(0.28) (P<0.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that plateau region, female polycythemia and anemia were risk factors for STH elevation. 【Conclusion】 This study finds that the EOF increases in the plateau population and patients with polycythemia, which provides reference for studying red blood cell disorders and blood transfusion strategy in the plateau region.
ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate and analyze the level of homocysteine(Hcy)in Tibet and to analyze the differences of Hcy level in different altitude regions, genders and ages, and thus to provide the prevalence profile of hyperhomocysteine and the differences in relevant tests between HHcy(hyperhomocysteinemia)and non-HHcy pop-ulations.Methods Totally 1 615(male n=585)subjects were selected from Ngari,Lhasa,Shigatse and Nyingchi plat-eau areas of Tibet by stratified cluster sampling.Serum Hcy level was analyzed and the difference of Hcy level in pop-ulations located at different altitude plateau areas, gender groups were found. The prevalence of hyperhomocysteine and related test were analyzed.Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare Hcy levels in different altitudes, genders and age groups, and Pearson Chi-square test was used to compare HHcy prevalence.Variance analysis was used for the differences of different test indicators between non-HHcy and HHcy populations. Results The level of Hcy in differ-ent regions and different genders were statistically significant, which was higher in males than that in females, and higher in Lhasa and Shigatse than in Nyingchi and Ngari. There was difference in serum HHcy prevalence among dif-ferent genders, regions and age groups.Males showed a higher level than females, people from Lhasa and Shigatse showed a higher level than those from Nyingchi and Ngari. Conclusions The incidence of hyperhomocysteinemia in Tibet is statistically significant in different areas, different genders and different age groups. So this study provides a scientific basis for the rational use of Hcy as an indicator in clinical practice of prevention and treatment of related diseases in plateau areas.

【Objective】 To retrospectively investigate the clinical transfusion status in Tibet Autonomous Region People′s Hospital, in order to provide data basis for further improvement of the rational and scientific blood use in our hospital. 【Methods】 Medical records of transfusion recipients in our hospital from 2014 to 2018 were investigated via HIS system, and such indicators as total clinical blood use, usage of whole blood and blood components, blood transfusion per capita, usage of blood components with different types. and the usage of red blood cells and plasma in each clinical department were retrospectively analyzed. 【Results】 The total clinical blood usage of our hospital increased from 3 930.5 U in 2014 to 4 949 U in 2018, with an annual growth rate of 5.93%. The average blood use per capita in 2014 and 2018 was 0.205 U vs 0.218 U, and incidence of blood component transfusion was 47.18% vs 99.02% The proportion of blood component (red blood cell and plasma) usage was 36.0%, 35.9%, 20.7% and 7.4% for blood type O, A, B and AB, respectively. The usage of total blood, red blood cell and plasma in internal and surgical departments were 13 883.8 U vs 7 080.8 U, 4 963.3 U vs 3 647.3 U and 6 055 U vs 1 170 U, respectively. 【Conclusion】 The total clinical blood usage and the proportion of blood component transfusion in our hospital is increasing year by year. Therefore, rational and scientific blood use should be further improved.
ABSTRACT
Objective:To analyze the level of homocysteine (HCY) and its influencing factors in different ethnic groups in Lhasa, and to explore its reference interval. Methods:Reference interval study. The serum HCY (μmol/L) level of 820 healthy subjects was analyzed in Tibet autonomous region People′s hospital from January to December 2018. All the subjects were divided into groups according to ethnicity, gender, age and season. The general linear model was used to analyze the differences in serum HCY levels groups. According to the CLSI C28 document, the Nested ANOVA and Z test were used to analyze and determine whether or not different groups need to establish the reference interval. Results:Ethnicity, age and gender had significant effects on serum HCY. The level of HCY in Tibetan was higher than that in Han (P<0.001); the level of Hcy in male was higher than that in female ( P<0.001); the level of HCY in over-50 year old group was higher than that in under-50 year old group ( P=0.01). There was no significant difference in serum HCY level in seasonal distribution ( P=0.22). Nested ANOVA and Z tests confirmed that the HCY reference interval in Lhasa should be established according to ethnicity and gender in clinical application. The reference interval of HCY level in Lhasa area was established according to difference genders, including<22.41 μmol/L for Tibetan men,<18.41 μmol/L for Tibetan women. Conclusions:The serum HCY levels of the apparent healthy people in Lhasa area were slightly different among people of different ethnicities, genders and ages. We established the reference intervals of HCY of different ethnic groups and gender groups in Tibet and our results have practical significance for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases at high altitude.
