ABSTRACT
Este estudo buscou investigar as orientações motivacionais de crianças que cursavam o 3º (36%), 4º (19,1%) e 5º (44,9%) anos do ensino fundamental de seis escolas do Brasil. Participaram deste estudo 617 crianças com idades entre 7 e 13 anos, com média de 9 anos (SD=1,112), de ambos os sexos, sendo 326 (52,8%) do sexo feminino e 291 (47,2%) do masculino. Os participantes responderam a uma escala em formato likert de três pontos que avalia a motovação intrínseca e extrínseca e que é composta de 20 questões, sendo 10 relativas à motivação intrínseca e 10 referentes à motivação extrínseca. A pontuação total possível em cada uma das escalas é de 20 pontos para a motivação intrínseca e 20 pontos para a extrínseca. Pode-se constatar que foram significantes as diferenças entre os anos escolares tanto no que diz respeito à motivação intrínseca (F= 5,775 e p= 0,003) como para a extrínseca (F=24,927 e p<0,001) e a motivação geral (F=33,336 e p<0,001). Os resultados revelaram que, de maneira geral, os participantes do terceiro ano apresentaram pontuações mais elevadas na motivação quando comparados aos estudantes do quarto e quinto anos.
This study pursued to investigate the academic motivational orientations among children in elementary school in the 3rd. Grade (36%), 4th. grade (19,1%) and 5th. Grade (44,9%) enrolled in six schools in Brazil. Participants consisted of 617 boys and girls, ages 7 to 13 years, who were 9 years old (SD= 1,112) in average, from which 326 (52,8%) were girls and 291 (47,2%) were boys. The participants were asked to answer according to the Scale of Intrinsic vs. Extrinsic Motivation, that measures the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and consists of 20 questions, 10 of them referring to intrinsic and 10 to extrinsic motivation. The participants were asked to mark down the frequency of each assertive in the 3-points scale with the likert format. The total possible score was 20 points in the intrinsic motivation scale and 20 in the extrinsic one. Significant diferrences involving the intrinsic motivation (F = 5,775 p =0,003) and the extrinsic motivation (F=24,927 p< 0,001) and the general motivation (F= 33,336 p 0,001) were found among the grades. The results showed that, in general, the participants of the third year had higher scores on motivation when compared to students in forth and fifth grade.
