ABSTRACT

There are specific ethical requirements and review principles for submitting papers or reports in medical academic journals. Researchers often consult the ethics committee on the rationality of the ethical requirements of journals at the (to be) submission stage, or ask for assistance in solving the ethical review requirements of journals: applying for ethical review for the clinical research to which submitted papers or research reports. Based on the perspective of hospital ethics committee, this paper discussed the ethical review requirements of academic journals for clinical research papers or reports. Combined with the practice of handling clinical research authors’ demands, the current situation of applying for ethical review, common problems and cases, this paper put forward three suggestions: academic journals should concretize the ethical review requirements of submitted papers or reports; researchers should internalize "ethics first" in their hearts, and conduct research according to laws and regulations; ethics committee should give full play to positive guidance and services, and cooperate with clinical research management departments to strengthen and complete the supervision of clinical research. So as to provide ideas for further standardizing the publication of clinical research papers and reports.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to analyze academic production on teaching practices and knowledge concerning the teaching of History in academic journals in the fields of Education, Teaching and History from 1970 to 2014, seeking evidence of the themes, concepts and references under study. The main benchmarks are the concepts of habitus and field of Pierre Bourdieu, and the representations and struggles over representation of Roger Chartier. The main results include the high concentration of academic production from the twenty-first century and the coincidence of the growing number of articles with the specific production of teaching practice and knowledge in Brazil. Another result is the presence of concepts related to knowledge and teaching practices in a significant part of the production, but also articles with no concepts specifically addressing this problematization and the struggle over representations that is arising with the entry of works related to the perspective of Historical Education to address the theme in the field of teaching History.

ABSTRACT

This editorial reviews differences between academic journals of China and those in other countries based on the author’s experience of serving as editorial board members or referees for 9 medical journals in China and 3 medical journals in the United States and England in the past 20 years. Chinese academic journals differ from the journals in the States and England in writing style, editorial process, and selection of papers for publication. A clearer statement of previous work and purpose of present investigation, more detailed and accurate documentation of materials and methods, proper use of statistical methods, and presentation of figures and tables of higher quality appear to be critical for the quality of academic papers. A proper control or reduction in the number of papers to be published and strengthening scientific standard of the papers will make these journals adhere to basic principles of scientific publications-accurate documentations of meaningful findings that are worthwhile to be kept for future reference.
