ABSTRACT

Digital fibromas are common benign acral tumors typically reported as angiofibromas (AFs) or acquired digital fibrokeratomas (ADFs). Cellular variants are not well recognized. Nodules develop mainly in fingers and toes. There is high recurrence but spontaneous regression without treatment has also been reported. We report a man of 27 years-old, showing a one cm nodule in the second finger of the right foot. Histological examination revealed spindled tumor cells containing characteristic intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies that stained with vimentin, CD68 positive, protein S100 negative, muscle specific actin negative and CD34 positive. These findings suggest that a subset of digital fibromas is characterized by a dense cellular proliferation of CD34 positive spindle cells. Awareness of this variant of digital fibroma and its staining pattern is critical in preventing misdiagnosis as dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, particularly in superficial biopsies.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratoma is an uncommon, benign fibrous tumor which usually occurs in adults as a solitary lesion. The most frequent locations are fingers and toes and the size of the tumor is generally small, around 3~5 mm. An 18-year-old female presented with a solitary, skin-colored, round and protruded nodule of the left great toe. The size of nodule was 2.5x1.6x1.4 cm. Histopathologic examination revealed typical findings of acquired digital fibrokeratoma. Herein, we report a giant acquired digital fibrokeratoma.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratoma is a relatively unusual benign fibrous tumor that is usually found on the distal extremities. It is characterized by a solitary, flesh-colored, firm and hyperkeratotic projection with a surrounding collarette of raised skin at the base. We report a case of acquired digital fibrokeratoma resembling cutaneous horn in a 31-year-old male who showed a 0.5x0.5x2 cm, firm, hyperkeratotic protruded mass with secondary changes including crust and bleeding on the left 4th finger.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratornas are uncommon, benign, acquired, firm, hyperkeratotic projectic projections, mostly arising at the finger, toe, and distal portion of extremity. We experienced a case of acquired digital fibrokeratoma arising the 4th tae in 37-year old male. Tumor mass was 2 X 1.5cm in size, round hyperkeratotic protruded mass. Histopathologically, the epidermis of the tumor showed compact hyperkeratosis, focal hypergranulosis, and irregular acanthosis. Thick collagen bundles and dilated capillaries were predominantly oriented in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the lesion. After simple excision was done, a new lesion appeared 2 months later.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratoma is a rare form of benign tumor of the fibrous tissue involving the skin. Histopathologically, the epidermis shows marked hyperkeratosis and acanthosis. The core of lesion is formed by thick, interwoven bundles of collagen predominantly oriented in the direction of the vertical axis of the lesion. We report a case of acquired digital fibrokeratoma in a 50-year-old female who has given consistent trauma on finger tip for corn removal.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratoma (ADFK) is a solitary round, firm and hyperkeratotic projection seen most commonly on the digits, but it is occasionally found on the palm, dorsum of the hand, wrist, periungual area, and rarely on the sole. We report herein three cases of ADFK in an adult occuring on the sole. As being continuously exposed to the pressure, ADFKs are transformed and may easily be mistaken for more common plantar lesions including plantar warts and corns.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratoma is a benign tumor of fibrous tissue that is usually found on the distal extremities. It is characterized by solitary flesh-colored hyperkeratotic hornlike projection with a surrounding collarette of raised skin at the base. Histopathologic findings include thick interwoven dermal collagen bundles oriented along the vertical axis of the lesion. The epidermis shows marked hyperkeratosis and acanthosis with thickened, often branching rete ridges. We report four cases of acquired digital fibrokeratoma.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratomas are unusual benign solitary tumors of fibrous tissue that usually occur on the fingers and toes. We report a case of acquired digital fibrokeratoma with unusual involvement of the sole, a previously traumatic site, in a 57-year-old male. We treated it with a total surgical excision.

ABSTRACT

In normal hurnan dermis, factor XIIIa positive dermal dendrocyte are located in the papillary areas closely associated with blood vessels and the upper reticular dem These cells represent a specific type of bone marrow derived dermal cells, distinct from Langerhans cells having some features in common with rnonocyte/macrophage lineage and with potential antier presenting activity. Although the significance of these cells has not yet been fully established, it been suggested that they play a major role in skin immune iesponses, in collagen synsthesis regultic and in wound repair. We report a case of acaqired fibrokeratoma which is studiec conventional histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Histopathologic findings of this case showed ovascular proliferation and the increased presence of fibroblast like cells as a common fe;ture of these benign tumors. Immunohistochemical staining with anti factor XIIIa antibody deiaoi strates increased numbera of positive dendritic cells in the upper dermis. There finding supports the fat that some fibroblagt like cells in the upper dermis of acquireid fibrokeratoma may be factor XIIIa positive dermal dendritic cells.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratomas are uncommon, benign, acquired, firm, more or less hyperkeratotic projections, arising most frequently from the fingers but rarely from the nail beds. We experienced a case of acquired digital fibrokeratoma arising from the nail bed of the left 4th toe in a 20-year-old female.

ABSTRACT

Acquired digital fibrokeratoma is an uncommon, solitary, round, firm, more or less hyperkeratotic projection, most frequently situated on fingers or toes but occasionally on the other locations. It arises out of a collarette of slightly raised skin and may have slight or great resemblance to a rudimentary supernumerary digit or may be mistaken for some other more ordinary condition such as an odd cutareous horn. We experienced a case of acquired digital fibrokeratoma on the right second finger in a 25-year-old male. We treated it with total excision.
