ABSTRACT

Introduction: smile's aesthetics can be achieved by a set of factors that include the dental anatomy, gingival anatomy and facial features of the patient. A pleasant smile is based on the harmony of these factors (white-red aesthetics) and not only on dental rehabilitation. The gingival smile is one of the main complaints of patients who seek the dental office, considering that such a situation may influence their personal or professional life. Objective: the purpose of this study was to report the clinical case of a patient with gingival smile and disharmony between the gingival margin and the alignment of the clinical crowns of anterosuperior teeth. Case Report: a 58-yearold female patient with good general health sought a private dental office with the aim of improving the aesthetics of the smile. The clinical examination revealed gingival smile and the need to replace the presence of metal-ceramic crowns. Final considerations: The multidisciplinary approach involving the surgical technique (restorative flap with osteotomy) and restorative (creation of feldspar facets and pure porcelain crowns in the anterior superior region) provided the success of the rehabilitation treatment in question, giving the patient a harmonious smile with aesthetics tooth and gum.

ABSTRACT

Microabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure for smoothing superficial enamel changes, which removes staining or surface defects by minimum wear, with the help of acidic substances associated with abrasive pastes, resulting in smooth, glossy surfaces. This study aims to present a case of enamel microabrasion with severe hypoplasia caused by fluorosis, restoring the aesthe-tics of the smile and self-esteem. The technique proved to be simple, effective and minimally invasive, reaching excellent aesthetic results...

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical aesthetic effect of immediate implant and immediate prosthesis by the free connec-tive tissue transplantation with periosteum in the maxillary anterior region. Methods 65 appropriate patients were selected and per-formed the immediate implant after minimally invasive tooth extraction.6 5 pieces of implants were implanted immediately by the free connective tissue transplantation with periosteum in the aesthetic area, among them,10 cases were implanted by Bio-oss bone. All missing teeth were immediately repaired by temporary denture, after the implant osseointegration, the permanent repair was per-formed.From the preoperation to 1 8 months after permanent repair, the aesthetic evaluation was conducted by stages, including the labial peri-implant soft tissue fullness and pink aesthetic scores(PES).Results In the tracing assessment period, the peri-implant fullness evaluation showed that degree 0 was found in 5 tooth positions before the operation, degree Ⅰin 60 tooth positions, degreeⅡ in 0 tooth position, but after immediate restoration, degree 0 in 0 tooth position, degree Ⅰin 45 tooth positions and degree Ⅱ in 20 positions. The PES total value reached the maximum in 3 months after permanent restoration. Conclusion Immediate implant and immediate prosthesis by the free connective tissue transplantation with periosteum in the maxillary aesthetic area can obtain better aesthetic results.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Compare the values obtained with calibrated probe and with drypoint compass as measuring instrument in implementing the Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI). Methodology: In 50 patients over 12 years with permanent dentition from ofDental Hospital, Faculty of Dentistry UNNE,were measured the variables that built the DAI, alternating both measuring instruments and estimated the DAI. Results: In 86% of cases both instruments yielded identical values for the DAI variables and the remaining 14% did not exceed one mm. The correlation between the final score of the DAI, measuring variables with calibrated probe and drypoint compass, was statistically significant (r = 0.999). Conclusions: Variations between measures not influence the final score of the indexvalidates the calibrated probe as a tool of registration for calculating the DAI.
