ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the chemical constituents from the roots of Ailanthus altissima. Methods: Compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel column chromatography and HPLC, and their structures were identified by spectral analysis. Results: Fourteen compounds were isolated and identified as 20-hydroxydammar-24-en-3-one (1), β-sitosterol (2), ocotillone (3), 5,6,7,8-tetramethoxycoumarin (4), niloticin (5), isofouquierone peroxide (6), 20S,24S-dihydroxydammar-25-en-3-one (7), piscidinol A (8), eichlerianic acid (9), dihydroniloticin (10), dammar-24-ene-12β,20β-diol-3-one (11), canthin-6-one (12), 12β-hydroxy ocotillone (13), and 20S,25-epoxy-24R-hydroxy-3-dammaranne (14). Conclusion: Compounds 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, and 13 are isolated from this plant for the first time.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Isolation and identification of chemical components from the root bark of Ailanthus altissima by HPLC method. Methods: Crude products which were extracted with ethanol were separated and purified by preparative HPLC, and the structures of the compounds were identified by mass spectrometry (MS), 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR. Results: Under the above conditions, ailanfhone (1), shinjulactone A (2), and a new β-carboline alkaloid (3) were successfully obtained, and the purities of the compounds are all above 95%. Conclusion: A rapid and simple method is set up to isolate and identify lower content components from A. altissima.

ABSTRACT

Objective To isolate and identify the chemical constituents of 95% alcohol extract in the fruits of Ailanthus altissima. Methods The compounds were prepared by repurification and their structures were identified by physicochemical properties and spectral analyses. Results Nine compounds were isolated and identified as ailanthone A [11?, 20-epoxy-1?, 2?, 12?-pentahydroxypicrasa-3, 13(21)-dien-16-one, Ⅰ], olean-9(11), 12-dien-3?-ol (Ⅱ), D-friedoolean-14-en-3-one (Ⅲ), ?-amyin (Ⅳ), cycloart-25-ene-3?,24?-diol (Ⅴ), hopane-3-one-22-ol (Ⅵ), n-tetratriacontane (Ⅶ), L-evonymitol (Ⅷ), D-mannitol (Ⅸ). Conclusion Among them Ⅱ- Ⅸ are isolated from the plants of Ailanthus Desf. nom. Conserv. for the first time.
