ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate effect and mechanisms of Liujing Toutong Tablets (LTT) on migraine model rats. Methods Rats were sc injected with nitroglycerin to establish migraine model, effect of LTT on scratching latency and frequency of migraine model rats was investigated; 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), norepinephrine (NE), and dopamine (DA) in brain tissue were detected; And β-endorphin (β-EP), calcitonin gene related pepitde (CGRP), and endothelin (ET) in serum were examined by ELISA; The content of nitric oxide (NO) and activity of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in serum were examined. Results After sc injected with nitroglycerin in 1 to 3 min, the rats in model group began to scratch its head frequently, scratching latency of rats in high- and low- dose (1.4 and 0.7 g/kg) of LTT group was extended (P < 0.01) and scratching frequency was decreased (P < 0.001); The content of β-EP and ET in serum and DA in brain tissue of rats in high- and low-dose (1.4 and 0.7 g/kg) of LTT group were increased (P < 0.05, 0.01, 0.001), and the content of CGRP and the activity of NOS in serum were decreased (P < 0.05). The content of 5-HT and NE in brain tissue of rats in high- and low- dose (1.4 and 0.7 g/kg) of LTT group had no significant change. Conclusion LTT has a significant therapeutic effect on migraine, and could inhibit contractile response of vascular. The mechanisms may be connected with increasing content of β-EP, ET, DA and decreasing content of CGRP and the activity of NOS.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the influence of maternal education on the level of pain expressed by women during the delivery process, the use of epidural analgesia and analgesic use of alternative measures. Methods: A multicenter observational conducted in four hospitals in Andalusia from January 2011 to January 2012. The study population consisted of primiparous women who gave birth in one of these centers. Sociodemographic variables were studied, level of pain and use of analgesic measures. The data were collected through an interview and medical history. The analysis estimated the Odds Ratios (OR) and mean, crude and adjusted. Results: The study involved 520 women. No association was found between maternal education being carried out by women and that this level of pain endured during the delivery process (p>0.05). Nor influence was detected with the use of alternative analgesic measures (aOR= 1.14; 95 percent CI: 0.70-1.83), or epidural analgesia (aOR= 1.58; 95 percent CI: 0.96-2.63). Conclusion: The maternal education is not effective for pain control that produces the delivery process, or determine the use of other analgesic measures...

ABSTRACT

Objective To Study the relation between analgesic action of alcohol extraction of Natrix tigrina Lateralis and central nervous system. Methods Manifold ache models of experimental nerve centre were established to observe the analgesic action and degree of alcohol extraction of Natrix tigrina Lateralis to the ache models. Results Alcohol extraction of Natrix tigrina Lateralis had analgesic action to all ache models of nerve centre, and the high-dose group was obviously. Conclusions Analgesic action of alcohol extraction of Natrix tigrina Lateralis is related to effecting on central nerves system, which effects antinociceptive in central nervous.

ABSTRACT

The optimum conditions for the processing of Sparganium stoloniferum Buch-Ham. withvinegar were studied by L9(3)4 orthogonal experimental design, as guided by decrease of writhing rate inanalgesic test and anticoagulant activity. The results showed that the best processing conditions were stirfrying of the raw S. stoloniferum with the addition of 25 kg of vinegar per 100 kg of crude drug at 130℃for 10 min.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the analgesic action and anti-inflammation effect of borneol. Methods The analgesic action and anti-inflammation effect of borneol were observed by mouse hot-plate test, mouse acetic-acid-induced twisting test, mouse abdominal cavity capillary permeability increase test induced by acetic acid, and rat pedal swelling test induced by carrageenin. Results Borneol reduced the pedal swelling of rats,ED50=0.3242 g?kg-1,increased pain threshold in mice ED50=0.3870 g?kg-1,inhibited twisting response of mice obviously,ED50=0.5813 g?kg-1. In the same dose, the analgesic action of borneol was stronger than the anti-inflammatory effect. Conclusion Borneol has certain analgesic action and anti-inflammation effect.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the anti- inflammation and analgesic action and anti- urarthritis effect of modified Simiao prescription with polysaccharide removal and thus to screen the effective anti- gout components from modified Simiao prescription. Methods Mouse acetic- acid- induced twisting experiment, mouse xylene- induced auricular swelling experiment, and rat sodium- urate- induced pedal swelling experiment were carried out in this study. Results After the removal of polysaccharides, modified Simiao prescription still kept obvious anti- inflammation and analgesic action and in a dose- effect manner. Conclusion Polysaccharides removal has no influence on the anti- inflammation and analgesic action of modified Simiao prescription .

ABSTRACT

After icv administration, the analgesic action of Hyp was found on the tail-flick and hot-plate tests. The analgesic action potency of icv Hyp was approximately equal to 1 ~20 of morphine and was about 100 times as potent as sc administration. No effect was seen on the analgesic action of Hyp after ip naloxone, the analgesic action of Hyp was no concern of L-enkephalin contents in discrete regions of rat brain either. But icv EGTA markedly enhanced while icv CaCl2 antagonized the analgesic action of Hyp. It was also found that calcium ion content in mice brain markedly reduced when the analgesic action of Hyp appeared. These results suggest that Hyp have significant central analgesic action and the central analgesic action of Hyp may relate to reducing of calcium ion in brain.
