ABSTRACT

OBJETIVO: Investigar os aplicativos móveis que foram desenvolvidos com a finalidade de orientar os profissionais, os pacientes e seus acompanhantes quanto às ações de segurança do paciente no contexto de hospitalização. MÉTODO: Prospecção tecnológica realizada nas lojas virtuais App Store e Google Play e na ferramenta de busca da Google, cujo critério de inclusão foi aplicativos voltados para segurança do paciente no contexto hospitalar sem limitação de recorte temporal. RESULTADOS: Foram incluídos e analisados no estudo 25 aplicativos. A maioria dos aplicativos eram móveis, desenvolvido em inglês, com ênfase para os profissionais de saúde. Ademais, tiveram como limitação, fragilidades relacionadas ao design e características lúdicas. CONCLUSÃO: O estudo pode contribuir para desenvolvimento de novos aplicativos para educação sobre a segurança do paciente, promovendo o aumento do engajamento nas ações de prevenção de erros.


OBJECTIVE: To examine mobile applications developed to guide healthcare professionals, patients, and their caregivers regarding patient safety interventions in the context of hospitalization. METHODS: A technological prospection was conducted in the virtual stores App Store and Google Play and through the Google search tool. Inclusion criteria included applications focused on patient safety in the context of hospitalization without temporal limitations. RESULTS: 25 applications were included in the study and analyzed. The Most applications were mobile, developed in English, and focused on healthcare professionals. In addition, they had limitations and weaknesses related to design and playful features. CONCLUSIONS: The study may contribute to developing of new patient safety education applications that promote increased engagement in error prevention interventions.

ABSTRACT

Objective: to evaluate the usability of the ROBOVID mobile application for health education about COVID-19. Method: methodological study with an applied quantitative approach, developed with 21 adults, using an electronic form. Usability was assessed using the System Usability Scale. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software was used to analyze the data. Results: the overall average score on the System Usability Scale questionnaire was 87.3, which classifies the usability of the ROBOVID application as the best achievable. Furthermore, the application has high scores for ease of memorization, user satisfaction and ease of getting to know the system, as well as excellent scores for absence of errors and speed in carrying out the tasks set. Conclusion: the ROBOVID application complies with the principles of usability in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction in the evaluation of end users, showing that the application meets consumer needs in terms of its functionalities, demonstrating its viability in terms of the initial objectives.


Objetivo: evaluar la usabilidad de la aplicación móvil ROBOVID para educación en salud acerca de la COVID-19. Método: estudio metodológico con enfoque cuantitativo aplicado, desarrollado con 21 adultos, mediante formulario electrónico. La evaluación de la usabilidad se llevó a cabo mediante la System Usability Scale. Para el análisis de los datos se utilizó el software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences . Resultados: la media global por el cuestionario System Usability Scale fue de 87,3, lo que clasifica la usabilidad de la aplicación ROBOVID como mejor alcanzable. Además, la aplicación presenta índices elevados para facilidad de memorización, satisfacción del usuario y facilidad de conocimiento del sistema, además de excelentes índices para ausencia de errores y rapidez en la ejecución de las tareas establecidas. Conclusión: la aplicación ROBOVID posee conformidad con los principios de usabilidad en los criterios de eficiencia, eficacia y satisfacción en la evaluación de los usuarios finales, explicando que la aplicación satisface las necesidades de consumo frente a sus funcionalidades, demostrando su viabilidad en cuanto a los objetivos iniciales.

Método: estudo metodológico com abordagem quantitativa aplicado, desenvolvido com 21 adultos, por meio de formulário eletrônico. A avaliação da usabilidade ocorreu por meio da System Usability Scale . Para análise dos dados utilizou-se o software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences . Resultados: a média global pelo questionário System Usability Scale foi de 87,3, o que classifica a usabilidade do aplicativo ROBOVID como melhor alcançável. Ademais, o aplicativo apresenta índices elevados para facilidade de memorização, satisfação do usuário e facilidade de conhecimento do sistema, além de excelentes índices para ausência de erros e rapidez na execução das tarefas estabelecidas. Conclusão: o aplicativo ROBOVID possui conformidade com os princípios de usabilidade nos critérios de eficiência, eficácia e satisfação na avaliação dos usuários-finais, explicitando que o aplicativo atende às necessidades de consumo frente a suas funcionalidades, demostrando sua viabilidade no que tange aos objetivos iniciais.

Resumo Introdução: Avaliação e manejo adequados da dor têm se tornado uma preocupação cada vez maior dos profissionais de saúde. Segundo a definição de cuidados paliativos da Organização Mundial da Saúde, são importantes a identificação precoce, a avaliação e o tratamento da dor. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivos desenvolver e avaliar um aplicativo para dispositivos móveis voltado para o ensino de abordagem da dor em cuidados paliativos. Método: Foi desenvolvido um aplicativo móvel, seguido de sua utilização por médicos residentes e de avaliação qualiquantitativa prospectiva. Aplicou-se o teste de conhecimento. Obtiveram-se a usabilidade do aplicativo, por meio da System Usability Scale (SUS), e a satisfação, por meio do Net Promoter Score (NPS). Os dados foram tabulados no Microsoft Office Excel® e exportados para o software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) versão 20.0 (IBM): na realização das análises, adotou-se uma confiança de 95%. Para a análise qualitativa das avaliações, o conteúdo das respostas foi transcrito e organizado em nuvens de palavras para destacar as ideias centrais. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética do Centro Universitário Christus. Resultado: Desenvolveu-se o PaliPain App, aplicativo constituído de casos clínicos de pacientes em cuidados paliativos com manifestações de dor, além de questões, vídeos e imagens, disponibilizado nas plataformas Android e iOS. Utilizaram o aplicativo 13 médicos residentes. A média de acertos de questões no pré-teste sobre dor em cuidados paliativos aumentou de 6,08 para 7,54 após manuseio do aplicativo. Na avaliação sobre a usabilidade do aplicativo, obtivemos na SUS uma média de 89,2, acima do nível considerado adequado de 70,0. Na avaliação de satisfação, 54% dos médicos responderam com pontuação 10 à pergunta: "Em uma escala de 0 a 10, quanto você recomendaria o aplicativo PaliPain a um amigo ou colega?". Conclusão: O PaliPain App, desenvolvido e disponibilizado nas plataformas Android e iOS, foi bem avaliado pelos médicos residentes, apresentando ótimos escores de usabilidade e de satisfação. Identificamos que houve ganho de conhecimento, com pontuação média na resolução de questões aumentando de 6,08 para 7,54 após livre uso da aplicação. O PaliPain App pode ser uma ferramenta útil para ensino de abordagem de dor para médicos residentes.


Abstract Introduction: Pain evaluation has become an increasingly relevant concern for healthcare workers. According to the World Health Organization's definition of Palliative Care, early identification, evaluation, and treatment of pain are important. Objective: Developing and rating an app for mobile devices that focuses on teaching the subject of pain management in Palliative Care. Research Methodology: The app was developed as a learning tool and tested by resident physicians while undergoing a qualitative and quantitative prospective evaluation. Mock tests were taken. The usability of the app was rated through the System Usability Scale (SUS), and satisfaction with the app was rated through the Net Promoter Score (NPS). The data was charted by using Microsoft Office Excel ® and was exported to the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 (IBM) software: an analysis was run with a 95% confidence interval. As for the qualitative analysis of the resident physicians' evaluations, all available content was transcribed and properly organized in word clouds in order to highlight the most important pieces of feedback that the physicians presented regarding the app. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee. Main Results: The PaliPain App was developed as a database filled with clinical cases of patients undergoing palliative care who were experiencing varying levels of pain, and also presents analysis of test questions, videos and images. It was made available for the Android and iOS platforms. The average correct answers in a mock test about pain management during palliative care rose from 6.08 to 7.54. Thirteen resident physicians made use of the app. In the evaluation of the app's usability, the average SUS score was 89.2. In the evaluation of user satisfaction, 54% of the resident physicians answered the question "from a scale of 0 to 10, what is the likelihood of you recommending the PaliPan app to a friend or colleague?" with a score of 10. Conclusion: The PaliPain App, developed and available on Android and iOS platforms, was well evaluated by resident physicians, presenting excellent scores for both usability and satisfaction. We identified that there was a gain in knowledge, with an average score in the resolution of questions increasing from 6.08 to 7.54 after free use of the application. The PaliPan app could be a useful tool to teach the subject of pain to resident physicians.

ABSTRACT

O rápido avanço tecnológico na área da saúde tem impacto relevante e positivo na educação médica. O amplo uso de recursos digitais teve crescimento com a pandemia de Covid-19 e impulsionou a disponibilidade de novas formas de desenvolver o ensino por meio de plataformas digitais, para o ensino híbrido e EaD. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste estudo foi elaborar uma plataforma móvel de suporte educacional em Infectologia para graduação em Medicina. Foi avaliada a aplicabilidade e usabilidade do sistema, o seu impacto na facilitação do ensino e o grau de satisfação do usuário com a nova ferramenta. Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, experimental, descritivo, em que a plataforma desenvolvida foi avaliada por 42 estudantes de Medicina do quarto semestre do Centro Universitário Christus (Unichristus), por meio de questionários, visando estimar a repercussão nos diferentes cenários educacionais e o grau de satisfação com esse instrumento. Quanto à sua eficácia, foi aplicada a Escala de Usabilidade de Sistema (System Usabillity Scale - SUS). Como resultado, foi analisado que a plataforma apresentou o escore SUS de 84,64, com desvio-padrão de 13,8, sendo evidenciada uma correlação de Spearman estatisticamente significativa (p<0,05). Conclui-se que a plataforma móvel em infectologia é uma ferramenta com boa aceitabilidade e facilidade na utilização, permitindo uma alternativa de abordagem eficaz de ensino na graduação de medicina.


The rapid technological advancement in the field of healthcare has a significant and positive impact on medical education. The widespread use of digital resources has seen growth with the Covid-19 pandemic and has driven the availability of new ways to deliver education through digital platforms for hybrid and distance learning. In this regard, the objective of this study was to develop a mobile educational support platform in Infectious Diseases for undergraduate medical education. The applicability and usability of the system, its impact on facilitating education, and the user satisfaction with the new tool were evaluated. This was a quantitative, experimental, descriptive study in which the developed platform was assessed by 42 fourth-semester medical students at Christus University Center (Unichristus) through questionnaires to estimate its impact on various educational scenarios and the level of satisfaction with this tool. In terms of its effectiveness, the System Usability Scale (SUS) was applied. As a result, it was found that the platform scored an SUS score of 84.64 with a standard deviation of 13.8, and a statistically significant Spearman correlation (p<0.05) was evident. It is concluded that the mobile platform in Infectious Diseases is a tool with good acceptability and ease of use, allowing for an effective alternative approach to medical education at the undergraduate level.


El rápido avance tecnológico en el campo de la salud tiene un impacto significativo y positivo en la educación médica. El uso generalizado de recursos digitales ha experimentado un crecimiento con la pandemia de Covid-19 y ha impulsado la disponibilidad de nuevas formas de brindar educación a través de plataformas digitales para la enseñanza híbrida y a distancia. En este sentido, el objetivo de este estudio fue desarrollar una plataforma de apoyo educativo móvil en Enfermedades Infecciosas para la educación médica de pregrado. Se evaluó la aplicabilidad y la usabilidad del sistema, su impacto en facilitar la educación y el nivel de satisfacción del usuario con la nueva herramienta. Este fue un estudio cuantitativo, experimental y descriptivo en el que la plataforma desarrollada fue evaluada por 42 estudiantes de medicina en su cuarto semestre en el Centro Universitario Christus (Unichristus) a través de cuestionarios para estimar su impacto en diversos escenarios educativos y el nivel de satisfacción con esta herramienta. En términos de su eficacia, se aplicó la Escala de Usabilidad del Sistema (SUS). Como resultado, se encontró que la plataforma obtuvo una puntuación de SUS de 84.64 con una desviación estándar de 13.8, y se evidenció una correlación de Spearman estadísticamente significativa (p<0.05). Se concluye que la plataforma móvil en Enfermedades Infecciosas es una herramienta con buena aceptabilidad y facilidad de uso, que permite un enfoque alternativo efectivo para la educación médica a nivel de pregrado.

Introducción: El predominio y asequibilidad actual de los teléfonos móviles inteligentes han permitido una amplia difusión de variedad de aplicaciones a nivel mundial para el monitoreo del crecimiento y del estado nutricional de los lactantes. No obstante, la mayoría de estos recursos no son lo suficientemente completos para proveer una interfaz amigable de seguimiento del crecimiento, combinada con una adecuada educación parental en materia de nutrición y alimentación complementaria. Objetivos: Este trabajo pretende presentar el desarrollo y evaluación de la aplicación propuesta "Baby Home", con el fin de estudiar su potencial como herramienta digital de apoyo a padres y cuidadores en el cuidado nutricional de sus niños desde el hogar. Materiales y métodos: Baby Home integra una interfaz de seguimiento interactivo del crecimiento del bebé con una serie de contenidos educativos alimentarios, posibilitando al usuario consultar las prácticas recomendadas según el estado nutricional estimado de su bebé. Un conjunto de 7 jueces expertos fue reunido para evaluar la validez de estos contenidos consignados en la aplicación. Posteriormente, se llevó a cabo un estudio de prueba piloto con 8 madres participantes, las cuales aportaron en las fortalezas y debilidades de las funcionalidades propuestas. Resultados: la aplicación desarrollada muestra una aprobación positiva por los especialistas consultados y una aceptación satisfactoria entre las madres participantes gracias a su diseño amigable y funcionalidades de fácil uso. Los recursos visuales implementados prueban ser adecuados para la apropiación de los contenidos alimentarios y el empoderamiento del usuario en torno a los cuidados nutricionales que requieren sus niños. Conclusiones: Baby Home se ubica como un soporte práctico y accesible para el cuidado nutricional del lactante, otorgando seguridad y confianza al usuario en la alimentación de su niño y disponiendo la posibilidad de detectar oportunamente problemas de crecimiento.


Introduction: The current prevalence and affordability of smartphones have enabled a broad diffusion of a variety of mobile applications worldwide for monitoring infant's growth and nutritional status. However, most of these resources are not comprehensive enough to provide a user-friendly interface for growth tracking combined with proper parental education on nutrition and complementary feeding. Objectives: This work aims to present the development and evaluation of the proposed application "Baby Home", in order to study its potential as a digital tool for supporting parents and caregivers in the nutritional care of their children from home. Materials and methods: Baby Home integrates an interactive baby growth monitoring interface with a collection of educational content on infant feeding, allowing the user to check the recommended practices based on the estimated nutritional status of their baby. A panel of seven expert judges was assembled to evaluate the validity of these contents included in the application. Subsequently, a pilot study was carried out with eight participating mothers who contributed to the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed functionalities. Results: The developed application received positive feedback by the consulted specialists and a satisfactory acceptance within the participating mothers thanks to its friendly design and easy-to-use functionalities. The implemented visual resources proved to be well suited for the user's appropriation of feeding contents and their empowerment regarding the nutritional care required by their children. Conclusions: Baby Home is positioned as a practical and accessible support for the nutritional care of infants, providing safeness and confidence to the user in their child's feeding and the possibility of timely detection of growth problems.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: To assess the accuracy of e?Paarvai, an artificial intelligence?based smartphone application (app) that detects and grades cataracts using images taken with a smartphone by comparing with slit lamp?based diagnoses by trained ophthalmologists. Methods: In this prospective diagnostic study conducted between January and April 2022 at a large tertiary?care eye hospital in South India, two screeners were trained to use the app. Patients aged >40 years and with a best?corrected visual acuity <20/40 were recruited for the study. The app is intended to determine whether the eye has immature cataract, mature cataract, posterior chamber intra?ocular lens, or no cataract. The diagnosis of the app was compared with that of trained ophthalmologists based on slit?lamp examinations, the gold standard, and a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was estimated. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) were computed. Results: The two screeners used the app to screen 2,619 eyes of 1,407 patients. In detecting cataracts, the app showed high sensitivity (96%) but low specificity (25%), an overall accuracy of 88%, a PPV of 92.3%, and an NPV of 57.8%. In terms of cataract grading, the accuracy of the app was high in detecting immature cataracts (1,875 eyes, 94.2%), but its accuracy was poor in detecting mature cataracts (73 eyes, 22%), posterior chamber intra?ocular lenses (55 eyes, 29.3%), and clear lenses (2 eyes, 2%). We found that the area under the curve in predicting ophthalmologists’ cataract diagnosis could potentially be improved beyond the app’s diagnosis based on using images only by incorporating information about patient sex and age (P < 0.0001) and best?corrected visual acuity (P < 0.0001). Conclusions: Although there is room for improvement, e?Paarvai app is a promising approach for diagnosing cataracts in difficult?to?reach populations. Integrating this with existing outreach programs can enhance the case detection rate.

ABSTRACT Objective: to identify which of the apps available for children include information on monitoring growth and development, in a way similar to the Brazilian Children's Handbook. Method: this is an exploratory research study to survey apps designed to monitor children's growth and development. The "Benchmarking" technique was used to assist in the process. The search for apps was carried out in January 2023 in the Google Play and App Store stores. The data were tabulated in Microsoft Excel. After classifying the variables, absolute and relative frequencies were calculated. Results: a total of 624 apps were identified. Of these, 491 were found in Google Play and 133 in the App Store. After analyzing the app descriptions and excluding duplicates, 48 software options were selected for the final sample. 41% (19) of the apps are in Portuguese, 36% (17) of those selected intend to record children's development, and only 2% (1) store children's growth, development and vaccination data. Conclusion: the absence of an app similar to Children's Handbook for monitoring and recording children's health within the Unified Health System scope was evidenced.


RESUMEN Objetivo: identificar cuáles de las aplicaciones disponibles para el público infantil incluyen información sobre el control del crecimiento, en forma análoga a la Libreta de Salud Infantil brasileña. Método: investigación exploratoria para sondear aplicaciones destinadas a controlar el crecimiento y desarrollo infantil. Para facilitar el proceso se utilizó la técnica de Benchmarking. Se buscaron aplicaciones en las tiendas Google Play y App Store, en enero de 2023. Los datos se tabularon en Microsoft Excel. Luego de clasificar las variables se calcularon frecuencias absolutas y relativas. Resultados: se identificaron 624 aplicaciones. De ellas, se encontraron 491 en Google Play y 133 en App Store. Después de analizar la descripción de cada aplicación y de excluir duplicados se seleccionaron 48 opciones de software para la muestra final. El 41% (19) de las aplicaciones estaba en portugués, el 36% (17) de las seleccionadas están destinadas a registrar el desarrollo infantil, y solamente el 2% (1) almacena datos de crecimiento, desarrollo y vacunación infantil. Conclusión: se hizo evidente que no existe ninguna aplicación similar a la Libreta de Salud Infantil para controlar y registrar la salud en este grupo etario para el ámbito del Sistema Único de Salud.

Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória de levantamento de aplicativos destinados ao acompanhamento do crescimento e desenvolvimento infantil. Para auxiliar no processo, foi utilizada a técnica de benchmarking. A busca pelos aplicativos foi realizada nas lojas de aplicativos Google Play e App Store, em janeiro de 2023. Os dados foram tabulados no Microsoft Excel. Após a classificação de variável, calculou-se a frequência absoluta e relativa. Resultados: Foram identificados 624 aplicativos. Desses, 491 foram encontrados no Google play e 133 no App Store. Após análise da descrição da aplicação e exclusão de duplicatas, foram selecionados 48 softwares para a amostra final. 41% (19) dos aplicativos apresentam-se na língua portuguesa, 36% (17) dos selecionados propõem-se a registrar o desenvolvimento da criança, e apenas 2% (1) faz o armazenamento do crescimento, desenvolvimento e vacinação infantil. Conclusão: Evidenciou-se a ausência de um aplicativo análogo à Caderneta da Criança para o acompanhamento e registro da saúde infantil para o âmbito do Sistema Único de Saúde.

Resumen El uso de aplicaciones móviles para el seguimiento de los ciclos menstruales es cada vez más popular. La proliferación de aplicaciones plantea interrogantes relativas a la normalización de la construcción binaria de las identidades sexo-genéricas a través de desarrollos tecnológicos y su impacto en los derechos humanos. Algunas implicaciones asociadas con el uso de aplicaciones van desde el opaco tratamiento de los datos personales de las personas usuarias, pasando por la reproducción de estereotipos de género en el diseño, hasta los sesgos algorítmicos. A través de un estudio cualitativo, esta investigación analiza tales implicaciones en la vida de las personas menstruantes de la Ciudad de México. El estudio cualitativo consistió en 32 entrevistas en profundidad con personas usuarias adultas jóvenes entre 18 y 25 años, para ahondar sobre su experiencia al utilizar estas herramientas de seguimiento menstrual. A partir del análisis, se observó la incomodidad de las personas usuarias con relación al sesgo de género en el diseño, al tratamiento inadecuado de datos personales por parte de las apps, que afecta la privacidad, y al desempeño de la aplicación, que, a través de la tecnología, contribuye a estandarizar las experiencias y a normalizar las concepciones binarias de género. A partir de este estudio se sugiere que el diseño de aplicaciones para el seguimiento menstrual debe considerar las vivencias y necesidades de las personas menstruantes en su diversidad, partiendo de una concepción no binaria de género. Un diseño basado en la justicia debe partir de acercarse a las personas menstruantes para mejorar su experiencia y su calidad de vida, poniendo en el centro sus derechos.


Resumo O uso de aplicações móveis para monitorar os ciclos menstruais está se tornando mais difundido. A proliferação de aplicações suscita preocupações com relação à normalização da construção binária de identidades de gênero através de inovações tecnológicas e seu impacto sobre os direitos humanos. Algumas das consequências do uso de aplicativos incluem o tratamento opaco dos dados pessoais, a reprodução de estereótipos de gênero no design e os enviesamentos algorítmicos. Este estudo adota uma abordagem qualitativa para examinar tais implicações na vida das pessoas que menstruam na Cidade do México. O estudo qualitativo incluiu 32 entrevistas em profundidade com pessoas jovens adultas entre 18 e 25 anos de idade para conhecer suas experiências com várias aplicações de rastreamento menstrual. A análise revelou que as pessoas não estavam satisfeitas com o viés de gênero no desenho, com o tratamento inadequado dos dados pessoais pelos aplicativos, considerado uma invasão de privacidade, e como desempenho do aplicativo, que contribui para padronizar experiências e normalizar concepções binárias de gênero através da tecnologia. Este estudo sugere que a concepção de aplicativos de monitoramento periódico deve considerar as experiências e necessidades das pessoas que menstruam em sua diversidade, com base em uma definição não binária de gênero. Um desenho justo deveria começar por envolver as pessoas para melhorar sua experiência e qualidade de vida, com seus direitos em primeiro plano.


Abstract The use of mobile applications to track menstrual cycles is becoming more widespread. The proliferation of applications raises concerns about the normalization of the binary construction of gender identities by means of technological innovation and its impact on human rights. Some of these issues include an opaque treatment of users' personal data, the reproduction of gender stereotypes in design, and algorithmic biases. This study adopts a qualitative approach to examine those implications in the lives of menstruating people in Mexico City. The qualitative study included 32 in-depth interviews with young adult users aged 18 to 25 to learn about their experiences with various menstrual tracking apps. The analysis revealed that users were dissatisfied with the gender bias in the design, with the inadequate treatment of personal data by the apps, regarded as an invasion of privacy, and with app performance, which contributes to standardizing experiences and normalizing binary conceptions of gender by techno-social means. This study suggests that the design of period tracking apps should consider the experiences and needs of menstruating persons in their diversity, based on a non-binary definition of gender. Fair design should begin by engaging with menstruating people in order to improve their experience and quality of life, with their rights at the forefront.

ABSTRACT

Abstract The objective of this study was to develop and validate an App for identifying risk factors for oral cancer. To this end, we developed an App (OCS: Oral Cancer Screening) with predictors of Oral Cancer (OC) and algorithm assembly to estimate the risk of its development. Methodology: Simulated clinical cases were designed so that 40 professionals with expertise in oral diagnostics could validate the algorithm and test its usability (SUS: System Usability Score) and acceptability (TAM: Technology Acceptance Model). Cronbach's alpha coefficient, Friedman/Dunn tests, and Spearman correlation evaluated the SUS and TAM scales. ROC curve was plotted to estimate the cutoff point of the algorithm in suggesting a high risk for OCS of the simulated cases. Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were additionally used (p<0.05, SPSS v20.0). Results: Professionals with expertise in oral diagnosis had usability of 84.63±10.66 and acceptability of 84.75±10.62, which correlated positively (p<0.001, r=0.647). Acting in clinical areas of dentistry (p=0.034) and history of performing OC risk factor orientation (p=0.048) increased acceptability while acting in higher education increased usability (p=0.011). The cutoff point suggested by the App after validation of the simulated clinical cases showed high sensitivity of 84.8% and lower specificity of 58.4%. Conclusion: The OCS was effective and with adequate sensitivity, usability, and acceptability and may contribute to the detection of early oral lesions.


Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi desenvolver e validar um aplicativo para identificação de fatores de risco para câncer bucal. Para tanto, desenvolvemos um aplicativo (OCS: Oral Cancer Screening) com preditores de Câncer Oral (CO) e montagem de algoritmo para estimar o risco de seu desenvolvimento. Metodologia: Casos clínicos simulados foram projetados para que 40 profissionais com expertise em diagnóstico oral pudessem validar o algoritmo e testar sua usabilidade (SUS: System Usabilidade Score) e aceitabilidade (TAM: Technology Acceptance Model). O coeficiente alfa de Cronbach, os testes de Friedman/Dunn e a correlação de Spearman avaliaram as escalas SUS e TAM. A curva ROC foi traçada para estimar o ponto de corte do algoritmo ao sugerir um alto risco para OCS dos casos simulados. Os testes do qui-quadrado e exato de Fisher foram usados adicionalmente (p<0,05, SPSS v20.0). Resultados: Profissionais com expertise em diagnóstico oral tiveram usabilidade de 84,63±10,66 e aceitabilidade de 84,75±10,62, que se correlacionaram positivamente (p<0,001, r=0,647). Atuar em áreas clínicas da odontologia (p=0,034) e histórico de realização de CO orientação de fator de risco (p=0,048) aumentaram a aceitabilidade enquanto atuar no ensino superior aumentou a usabilidade (p=0,011). O ponto de corte sugerido pelo App após validação dos casos clínicos simulados apresentou alta sensibilidade de 84,8% e baixa especificidade de 58,4%. Conclusão: O OCS foi eficaz e com sensibilidade, usabilidade e aceitabilidade adequadas e pode contribuir para a detecção de lesões orais precoces.

Abstract Objective: Sleep is fundamental for both health and wellness. The advent of "on a chip" and "smartphone" technologies have created an explosion of inexpensive, at-home applications and devices specifically addressing sleep health and sleep disordered breathing. Sleep-related smartphone Applications and devices are offering diagnosis, management, and treatment of a variety of sleep disorders, mainly obstructive sleep apnea. New technology requires both a learning curve and a review of reliability. Our objective was to evaluate which app have scientific publications as well as their potential to help in the diagnosis, management, and follow-up of sleep disordered breathing. Methods: We search for relevant sleep apnea related apps on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. In addition, an exhaustive literature search was carried out in MEDLINE, EMBase, web of science and Scopus for works of apps or devices that have published in the scientific literature and have been used in a clinical setting for diagnosis or treatment of sleep disordered breathing performing a systematic review. Results: We found 10 smartphone apps that met the inclusion criteria. Conclusions: The development of these apps and devices has a great future, but today are not as accurate as other traditional options. This new technology offers accessible, inexpensive, and continuous at home data monitoring of obstructive sleep apnea, but still does not count with proper testing and their validation may be unreliable.

Purpose: To assess the feasibility of measuring patients’ visual acuity (VA) in their homes by their caregivers. Methods: Patients consulting in a tertiary eye care institute were prospectively enrolled with informed consent. All underwent standard COMPlog distance VA testing. Patients and caregivers were oriented to test distance VA using the Peek Acuity app. The app was installed on the caregiver’s or patient’s smartphone. The patient’s VA was measured by the caregiver in the clinic (baseline value) under supervision. After 1 week, the caregivers recorded the patient’s VA with the Peek Acuity app at their home and reported the value in a telephone consultation. A questionnaire to assess the ease of using the app was administered at both the baseline visit and 1 week later. Results: A total of 100 patients (age group: 13 to 76 years) and 100 caregivers (age group: 17 to 65 years) participated. VA measurements with the Peek Acuity app were comparable with COMPlog (P > 0.1) both during the baseline and after 1?week measurement, regardless of the underlying ocular condition or educational level of the caregivers/patients. Most caregivers (95%) felt the app was easy to use. Conclusion: Though the Peek Acuity app was originally developed for health care workers to be used in field visits, we found that with proper orientation, the layperson can also use it. Such orientation can enable caregivers to effectively measure VA at home. Such a tool would enhance teleophthalmology consultations and can minimize the need for short follow?up visits

Resumen Antecedentes Durante los últimos años ha proliferado el uso de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) para mejorar la efectividad y eficiencia de la intervención psicológica, incluyéndose en este grupo el uso de apps para dispositivos móviles. Objetivo Examinar la disponibilidad de apps puestas a pruebas empíricamente para el tratamiento psicológico de los trastornos emocionales. Método Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica de trabajos publicados desde 2016 en las bases de datos Scopus , Web of Science y PubMed . Se seleccionaron aquellos artículos que estudiaban el funcionamiento de una app en población adulta para la intervención psicológica en trastornos emocionales (trastornos de ansiedad, depresivos, límite de la personalidad, somatoformes y disociativos). La selección de los estudios incluidos se llevó a cabo por dos revisores, que resolvieron las discrepancias mediante consenso. Resultados De 485 artículos identificados, se seleccionaron 14 para la revisión sistemática. Los resultados se presentan en función del trastorno emocional al que va dirigido la app . Conclusiones: la disponibilidad de apps empíricamente validadas para la intervención en trastornos emocionales, si bien ha aumentado durante los últimos años, es todavía limitada. Sin embargo, existen resultados prometedores que apuntan hacia la importancia de seguir desarrollando y estudiando la eficacia y efectividad del uso de apps para potenciar la calidad y eficiencia de la atención psicológica.


Abstract Background In recent years, the use of ICTs to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of psychological intervention has proliferated, including the use of apps for mobile devices. Objective To examine the availability of empirically tested apps for the psychological treatment of emotional disorders. Method a literature search of papers published since 2016 in the Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed databases was conducted. It was selected those articles that studied the functioning of an app in the adult population for psychological intervention in emotional disorders (anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, borderline personality disorder, somatoform and dissociative disorders). The selection of included studies was carried out by two reviewers, who resolved discrepancies by consensus. Results Of 485 articles identified, 14 were selected for systematic review. Results are presented according to the emotional disorder targeted by the app. Conclusions The availability of empirically validated apps for intervention in emotional disorders, although increasing in recent years, is still limited. However, there are promising results that point to the importance of continuing to develop and study the efficacy and effectiveness of the use of apps to enhance the quality and efficiency of psychological care.

INTRODUÇÃO: Profissionais atuantes na área de terapia intensiva (UTI) são constantemente desafiados a apresentarem um alto nível de desempenho e conhecimento. Neste cenário, destaca-se o fenômeno da utilização de aplicativos móveis (também conhecidos como APPS) entre a população mundial, visando assim ao acesso fácil e rápido a informação a fim de auxiliar na tomada de decisão. OBJETIVOS: Desenvolver um APP direcionado para profissionais intensivistas. MÉTODOS: O desenvolvimento do aplicativo (APP) foi feito a partir da plataforma Expo, elaborado em um computador e disponibilizado para as plataformas Android e IOS. As temáticas presentes no aplicativo foram definidas com base no conhecimento de dois fisioterapeutas especialistas em Fisioterapia em Terapia Intensiva Adulto com mais de 10 anos de experiência. RESULTADOS: O APP utiliza uma interface intuitiva, sensível ao toque e de rápido acesso às informações que o usuário solicitar. Há um menu apresentando os botões referentes a cada função do APP, tais como: índices e cálculos; escalas funcionais; exames laboratoriais; sinais vitais; desmame; ventilação mecânica (VM); ventilação não invasiva (VNI). Desta forma, o APP apresenta sete modalidades. O tempo de desenvolvimento do aplicativo foi de 12 meses. CONCLUSÃO: Desenvolvemos um APP com foco em profissionais que atuam em UTIs, com o objetivo de que estes obtenham informações à beira leito assim como facilidade de utilização de instrumentos avaliativos


INTRODUCTION: Professionals working in the area of intensive care (ICU) are constantly challenged to present a high level of performance and knowledge. In this scenario, the phenomenon of the use of mobile applications (also known as APPS) among the world population stands out. Thus aiming at easy and quick access to information in order to assist in decision making. OBJECTIVES: Develop an APP aimed at intensive care professionals. METHODS: The development of the application (APP) was made from the Expo platform, it was prepared on a computer and made available for the Android and IOS platforms. The themes present in the application were defined based on the knowledge of two Physiotherapists specializing in Physiotherapy in Adult Intensive Care with more than 10 years of experience. RESULTS: The APP uses an intuitive, touchsensitive interface with quick access to the information that the user requests. There is a menu showing the buttons representing each function of the APP, such as: indexes and calculations; functional scales; laboratory tests; vital signs; weaning; mechanical ventilation (MV); non-invasive ventilation (NIV). In this way, the APP presents seven modalities. Application development time was 12 months. CONCLUSION: We developed an APP focused on professionals who work in ICUs, with the objective that they obtain information at the bedside as well as ease of use of evaluative instruments.

Mobile Health (mHealth) involves the utilization of mobile communication to promote health by supporting healthcare practices. To the best of our knowledge, the quality of mobile health apps available to the 65 million Hausa speakers globally is yet to be evaluated in a study. Objective: To evaluate the quality of Hausa mobile health apps available on Google play store. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study of the quality of Hausa mobile health apps available on Google play store. A search of the Google play store for Hausa mobile health apps was conducted on 19th September, 2021. Hausa words "KiwonLafiya", "CutadaMagani" and "RashinLafiya" were utilized in the search for relevant apps. The Mobile App Rating Scale (MARS) was used to evaluate the quality of the Hausa mobile health apps found. Two of the authors separately applied the MARS which was validated by the third author. Four MARS domains (Engagement, Functionality, Aesthetics, Information) were assessed to evaluate app quality, the mean score in each domain and the overall mean were determined from the two separate quality ratings conducted. Result: Eight Hausa mobile apps were found. Majority of the apps were on women health; n = 3 (37.5%) and health education; n = 3 (37.5%). Three of the apps (37.5%) had > 10,000 downloads. Seven out of the eight apps (87.5%) were developed by an individual developer. The functionality domain had the highest mean score, followed by aesthetics and engagement domains, while the least mean score was in the information domain. The overall mean from rater one's rating was 3.18 ± 0.31 and 2.84 ± 0.60 from rater two's rating, which showed an acceptable quality. Conclusion: The reviewed apps were of an acceptable quality, however, health education features within mobile health apps needs more improvement

ABSTRACT Objective to describe the process corresponding to the design, prototyping and co-implementation of a care-educational app prototype for vulnerable people with heart failure, their family members/caregivers and the health team. Method a methodological study with five phases: Construct, Design, Prototyping, Co-implementation and Adaptation, all performed from September 2020 to July 2021. The Codesign team involved 72 actors (15 patients with HF, 19 family members/caregivers, 35 health professionals, two researchers and a designer and developer), who contributed with linguistic and visual data. Results the InCare® prototype was produced, represented by the flowchart corresponding to the user's interaction and structural sketches. Colors were defined to compose the screens and the prototype resources were chosen, outlining the description, proposal and functional requirements. The app involved relevant themes (definition of the disease and vulnerability, etiology, classification, signs and symptoms, daily care measures and palliative approaches, treatments, diet, physical activity and support networks, benefits) and gathered functionalities according to the team's needs and preferences, being considered innovative and encouraging for self-care. Conclusion codesign allowed designing resources, contents, screen sketches, user flow, prototyping and prototype name, in a creative and participatory process to promote the health of people with heart failure in vulnerable health situations.


RESUMEN Objetivo describir el proceso de diseño, prototipación y co-implementación del prototipo de una app de cuidados e instructiva para personas con insuficiencia cardíaca en situación de vulnerabilidad, sus familiares/cuidadores y el equipo de salud. Método estudio metodológico con cinco fases: Constructo; Diseño; Prototipación; Co-implementación y Adaptación, realizadas entre septiembre de 2020 y julio de 2021. El equipo Codesign estuvo compuesto por 72 actores (15 pacientes con IC, 19 familiares/cuidadores, 35 profesionales de la salud, dos investigadores y un diseñador y desarrollador), que contribuyeron con datos lingüísticos y visuales. Resultados se produjo el prototipo InCare®, representado por el diagrama de flujo de interacción del usuario y bosquejos estructurales. Se definieron colores para componer las pantallas y se eligieron recursos para el prototipo, incluyendo el diseño de la descripción, propuesta y requisitos funcionales. La app abarcó temáticas relevantes (definición de la enfermedad y vulnerabilidad, etiología, clasificación, señales y síntomas, cuidados diarios y enfoque paliativos, tratamientos, alimentación, actividad física y redes de apoyo, beneficios), además de agrupar funcionalidades conforme a las necesidades y preferencias del equipo, y fue considerada innovadora y como un incentivo para el autocuidado. Conclusión Codesign permitió diseñar los recursos, contenidos, bosquejos de pantallas, el flujo del usuario, la prototipación y el nombre del prototipo, por medio de un proceso creativo y participativo, para promover la salud de personas con insuficiencia cardíaca en situación de vulnerabilidad relacionada con la salud.

A equipe do Codesign envolveu 72 atores (15 pacientes com IC, 19 familiares/cuidadores, 35 profissionais da saúde, dois pesquisadores e um designer e desenvolvedor), que contribuíram com dados linguísticos e visuais. Resultados foi produzido o protótipo InCare®, representado pelo fluxograma de interação do usuário e esboços estruturais. Foram definidas cores para composição das telas e escolhidos recursos do protótipo, com delineamento da descrição, proposta e requisitos funcionais. O aplicativo envolveu temáticas relevantes (definição da doença e vulnerabilidade, etiologia, classificação, sinais e sintomas, cuidados diários e abordagens paliativistas, tratamentos, alimentação, atividade física e redes de suporte, benefícios) e aglutinou funcionalidades conforme necessidades e preferências da equipe, sendo considerado inovador e um incentivo ao autocuidado. Conclusão O Codesign permitiu a ideação de recursos, conteúdos, esboços das telas, fluxo do usuário, prototipagem e nome do protótipo, em processo criativo e participativo, para promoção da saúde da pessoa com insuficiência cardíaca em situação de vulnerabilidade em saúde.

O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar e agrupar informações de aplicativos móveis voltados para a redução do comportamento sedentário (CS) existentes nas plataformas Google Play e iTunes. O levantamento ocorreu em agosto de 2020, utilizando-se os termos relacionados ao CS. Foram encontrados 196 aplicativos, sendo a maioria disponível apenas em língua inglesa e gratuitos. Em geral, os aplicativos podem ser divididos em quatro categorias: a) alertas/lembretes para quebra do CS; b) Restrição de aplicativos e bloqueio de tela; c) Monitoramento do CS e; d) Controle parental do tempo de tela. Funções estas que corroboram as recomendações de estudos sobre CS, que aconselham a inclusão de intervenções comportamentais, monitoramento do tempo de tela e o envolvimento da família (AU).


The objective of this study was to identify and group information from mobile applications aimed at reducing sedentary behavior (SB) existing on the Google Play and iTunes platforms. The survey took place in August 2020, using terms related to SB. Were found the 196 applications, most of which are available only in English and free. In general, applications can be divided into four categories: a) alerts/reminders for breaking the SB; b) Application restriction and screen lock; c) SB monitoring; and d) Parental control of screen time. These functions corroborate the recommendations of studies on SB, which recommend the inclusion of behavioral interventions, monitoring screen time, and family involvement (AU).


El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar y agrupar información procedente de aplicaciones móviles orientadas a reducir las conductas sedentarias (CS) existentes en las plataformas Google Play y iTunes. La encuesta se llevó a cabo en agosto de 2020, utilizando términos relacionados con la informática. Se encontraron 196 aplicaciones, la mayoría de las cuales están disponibles solo en inglés y son gratuitas. En general, las aplicaciones se pueden dividir en cuatro categorías: a) alertas/recordatorios para romper la CS; b) Restricción de aplicaciones y bloqueo de pantalla; c) Monitoreo de SC y; d) Control parental del tiempo frente a la pantalla. Estas funciones corroboran las recomendaciones de estudios sobre CS, que recomiendan la inclusión de intervenciones (AU).

Resumen Las aplicaciones de citas son cada vez más utilizadas, sobre todo entre las personas de las generaciones millennial y centennial. En el marco de dichas apps emergen fenómenos interactivos relativos a los vínculos sexo-afectivos que ameritan ser investigados. Este artículo presenta los resultados de una revisión de alcance (scoping review) sobre investigaciones que relacionan los vínculos sexo-afectivos y el uso de tecnologías digitales, publicadas en castellano y en revistas científicas de Iberoamérica entre los años 2009 y 2019. La búsqueda se realizó en las bases de datos Dialnet, Psyarticles, Redalyc, Scielo, Science Direct, Scopus y Web of Science .WOS). Luego de aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión a los 579 registros iniciales, se decantó una muestra final de 23 artículos. Los hallazgos muestran que las investigaciones se ocupan principalmente de cuatro temas: 1) los significados sobre el uso de aplicaciones de citas (dating apps); 2) los fenómenos digitales relacionados con los vínculos sexo-afectivos; 3) el sexting; y 4) la violencia entre parejas en Internet. La construcción de vínculos sexo-afectivos por medio de tecnologías digitales se vale de fenómenos psicosociales como la auto-presentación online, la desinhibición online y la comunicación asincrónica.


Abstract Dating apps are being widely used, especially among millennials and centennials. Within the framework of these applications, interactive phenomena worth research emerge related to sexual-affectional bonds. This article presents the results of a scoping review of research that establishes relationships between sexual-affectional bonds and the use of digital technologies, published in Spanish in scientific journals in Ibero-America between 2009 and 2019. The search was conducted in the Dialnet, Psyarticles, Redalyc, Scielo, Science Direct, Scopus, and Web of Science (WOS) databases. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria to the 579 initial records, a final sample of 23 articles was defined. Findings indicate that research focuses mainly on four topics: 1) the meanings of the use of dating apps; 2) digital phenomena related to sexual‑affectional bonds; 3) sexting; and 4) violence between couples on the Internet. The construction of sexual-affectional bonds through digital technologies makes use of psychosocial phenomena such as online self-presentation, online disinhibition, and asynchronous communication.

La tecnología móvil o celular ha cambiado la forma en que vivimos, trabajamos y nos comunicamos, influyendo en todas las esferas de la vida diaria. El campo de la salud cada vez más es influido en todos los aspectos por esta tecnología cuyo desarrollo ha dado como resultado, entre otros, sistemas de gestión de información y conocimiento para la dirección en salud. El objetivo del presente trabajo es presentar el app Covid-19-InfoCu, accesible desde https://www.apklis.cu/application/cu.sld.COVID_19_InfoCU. La aplicación fue un encargo del Ministerio de Salud Cubano para informar de manera rápida y verídica a la población acerca de la pandemia que ha causado tantos contagios y muertes en todo el mundo, la COVID-19. Ha sido descargada por un gran número de usuarios y se ha extendido su uso en toda Cuba. El sitio Apklis (tienda de aplicaciones móviles de Cuba) reporta, hasta este momento, 183107 descargas. No se han contabilizado las descargas desde otros sitios cubanos, como la Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba (ETECSA) e Infomed, red telemática del sistema de salud cubano. En cuanto a la experiencia de usuarios, la aplicación ha recibido valoraciones positivas, que pueden ser verificadas en apklis(AU)


Mobile or cellular technology have changed the way we live, work and communicate, influencing all spheres of daily life. The health field is increasingly influenced in all aspects by technology whose development has resulted, among others, in information and knowledge systems for health management. The objective of this work is to present the Covid-19-InfoCu app, accessible from https://www.apklis.cu/application/cu.sld.COVID_19_InfoCU. This app was commissioned by the Cuban Ministry of Health to quickly and truthfully inform the population about the pandemic that has caused so many infections and deaths around the world, COVID-19. The app has been downloaded by a large number of users and its usage has spread nationwide. The Apklis site reports, so far, 183,107 downloads. Downloads from the ETECSA or Infomed FTP sites have not been counted. Regarding the user experience, the app has received positive evaluations, which can be verified in apklis(AU)

ABSTRACT

Objective: To build and validate a flowchart for the prevention and treatment of intestinal peristomal skin complications. Method: For the construction of the algorithms, a systematic reviewwas carried out in health sciences databases comprising the last 10 years. The evaluation of the algorithms was carried out by 38 nurses. For the validation of the algorithms, theDelphi technique was used. The statistical analysis used was the content validity index and the Cronbach alpha coefficient. The questionnaire was sent by e-mail and in person after approval by the Ethics and Research Committee. Results: In the first evaluation of the algorithms, there was no agreement among the experts. However, after making the corrections suggested by the evaluators, the algorithms were resent, with a 100% consensus among the evaluators. The questions used to validate the algorithms contributed favourably to the internal consistency and content validation of the instrument, since the respective Cronbach alpha was 0.9062 and the global content validity index (g-CVI) was 0.91 in the first validation and 1.0 in the second validation. Conclusion: After an integrative literature review, the flowcharts were built and validated by a professional with experience in the area, showing 100% agreement among the experts in the second evaluation. Objetivo: Desenvolvimento e padronização do aplicativo de Avaliação Pré-Anestésica Pediátrica, o APA-PED, consistindo em uma proposta de uma base de dados clínica intuitiva, informatizada e de baixo custo, a fim de normatizar e consolidar uma ficha de orientação para a consulta clínica pré- operatória de pacientes pediátricos. Método: Estudo do tipo descritivo-exploratório buscando otimizar e informatizar os procedimentos clínicos de consulta pré-anestésica pediátrica a partir do desenvolvimento do APA-PED e da aplicação e validação da usabilidade deste aplicativo como ferramenta para auxílio da avaliação pré-anestésica mediante uso do questionário System Usability Scale (SUS) aplicados à médicos anestesistas experientes. Resultados e Conclusão: Foi identificado que a média total de pontos obtidas pelos avaliadores pelo questionário do SUS foi de 85,25±9,068, representando que a usabilidade do APA-PED pode ser considerada como "melhor imaginável", validando que este aplicativo é eficiente para o auxílio do processo pré-operatório do paciente pediátrico.
