ABSTRACT

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic nonspecific inflammation mainly involving rectum and colon mucosa, which seriously affects the health and quality of life of patients, and is listed as one of modern refractory diseases by WHO. Professor XU Jing-fan, a great master of traditional Chinese medicine, has accumulated rich experiences in the treatment of UC. The study collected Professor XU's 77 prescriptions of treating UC, analyzed the frequency of traditional Chinese medicines and there categories, and investigated the medication regularity by the system clustering method. The findings showed that the most frequently used drugs were clearing-heat herbs, which were followed by hemostatic herbs, excreting-dampness herbs, improving-digestion herbs and tonifying-Qi herbs. At the same time, the commonly combined drugs were excavated. Finally, in order to analyze potential molecular targets of the frequently used herbs, GO enrichment analysis and KEGG signal pathway enrichment analysis were performed with bioinformatics analysis tool for molecular mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine (BATMAN-TCM). The results indicated that Chinese herbal compounds may treat UC by activating PPAR-γ pathway and regulating intestinal inflammation. The exact mechanisms shall be verified through subsequent molecular biological experiments.

ABSTRACT

Thoracic obstruction is mainly attributed to the scope of coronary heart disease in modern medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) shows a significant effect in the treatment of thoracic obstruction. In this research, a network pharmacology method was carried out to systemically study the underlying mechanism of the core herbal compatibility in TCM on the thoracic obstruction. First, we collected the literature about TCM prescriptions for treating thoracic obstruction from CNKI. Then, a prescription database was establish by TCM inheritance support platform system(V2.5) to determine the medication rules and core herbal compatibility in TCM. Finally, to obtain the potential signaling pathways, KEGG pathway analysis was performed by BATMAN-TCM online analysis tool. Results showed that the potential signal pathway of core herbal compatibility in TCM for the clinical treatment of thoracic obstruction was calcium ion and cGMP-PKG signaling pathway. This study provided a new research strategy for the study of the medication rules and mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of thoracic obstruction.

ABSTRACT

This article presents an approximation to the development of the hero archetype, and how its content has entered our culture, through the analysis of Batman, the character in the trilogy of the director Christopher Nolan; it also discusses on what makes him a superhero and the role of the archetype in the human psyche. It is the result of research done as a requirement to graduate from the undergraduate program in psychology at Luis Amigó University, in Medellín city; research includes the methodology of case study and descriptive analysis; in this direction, the work focused on an imaginary character, and on how his possible existence is framed in the development of the archetype proposed by Carl Gustav Jung.
