ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To study the safety, effectiveness and nursing of blood/fluid warmer during the process of plateletpheresis in winter. 【Methods】 The blood re-transfusion speed during plateletpheresis in winter and the time of blood passing through the blood return pipeline was counted. The vitro blood was heated with a blood/fluid warmer under different temperature settings, and the rising speed of blood temperature was recorded. The blood samples were tested for blood routine examination, free Hb and erythrocyte morphology at 0, 15 and 30 minutes. In the process of plateletpheresis in winter, the blood donors′ ear temperature and the skin temperature near the reinfusion needle in the observation group and the controls were measured, and the blood donors were observed for shivering, arm chills, pain or other discomfort. After the blood donation, the thermal comfort was evaluated. 【Results】 There was no difference in the results of routine blood test and plasma free Hb test of vitro blood after warming at 41℃, 42℃ and 43℃ for 0, 15 and 30 minutes (P>0.05), and no change in erythrocyte morphology was found. The skin temperature near the reinfusion needle (before vs. after the start of phlebotomy) was statistically different by applying blood/fluid warmer or not(P0.05). The vitro blood heating experiment showed that when the room temperature was within 22~24℃, the blood retransfusion speed was (100-120) mL/min; after the application of blood/fluid warmer, the temperature of reinfusion blood could be raised from 27℃ to 33~37℃. The proportion of feeling comfortable and very comfortable and the score of thermal comfort in the blood donors who used the warmer were higher than those in the controls (P<0.05). When the temperature of the warmer was set above 38℃, the average score of thermal comfort of blood donors was above 8. 【Conclusion】 It is safe to apply the blood/fluid warmer during the plateletsapheresis in winter, which can significantly improve the comfort of blood donors and reflect the humanized service of blood stations, and is worth popularizing.

ABSTRACT

To determine the body constituents patterns comprised of “qi, blood, fluid” factors associated with oral health-related QOL (OHRQOL) of patients with Sjögren's syndrome (SS), 41 SS patients and 32 RA patients in remission were enrolled. The body constituents patterns were measured by using Terasawa's “qi, blood, fluid” score, and the simple version of yin deficiency questionnaire (yin-deficiency score). OHRQOL were evaluated using the oral health impact profile (OHIP-14). In the first study, the body constituents pattern scores were compared between SS group and RA (in remission) group, using the univariate and multivariate analysis. In the second study, the association between OHIP14 and the body constituents pattern scores was analyzed. In the first study, all the scores were significantly higher in SS group, and the multivariable logistic regression identified yin deficiency (p = 0.02) and blood stasis (p = 0.01) as the significantly associated factors with SS group. In the second study, all the scores, except for the blood stasis pattern, showed positive correlation with OHIP-14. The multiple regression analysis identified qi stagnation (p = 0.003) as the significantly associated factors with OHIP-14. This study revealed that yin deficiency and blood stasis are the significant body constituent patterns in SS patients. In the low OHRQOL cases, qi stagnation should be taken into consideration.

ABSTRACT

This case reports an immunocompetent 29-year-old woman with suspected pneumonia, suggestive of fungal infection. Immunoblotting analysis reactivity againstHistoplasma capsulatum and Paracoccidioides brasiliensis were observed. Nested-PCR in blood employing species-specific primers was positive for H. capsulatum andCryptococcus neoformans. The evaluation of paucisymptomatic patients with positive results for H. capsulatum and C. neoformans could be relevant for the prevention as well as the possible evaluation of the reactivated quiescent foci. In conclusion, the associated methodology may have contributed to the monitoring endogenous reactivation of these diseases.(AU)

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the performance of Sysmex company's new product Sysmex XN-9000 automatic blood fluid analyzer and confirm the test results. Methods: According to the American association of clinical laboratory standardization guidelines EP15-A2, the EP6-A2 requirements for Sysmex XN-9000 blood analyzer for precision, carry pollution rate, linear range and accuracy verification, to Backman LH750 comparison results for evaluating the basis, the results and the performance of manufacturer's statement or recognized quality standards. Results:XN-9000 blood analyzer determination of white blood cell (WBC), red blood cell (RBC), hemoglobin (HGB), RBC deposited (HCT) and platelet (PLT) the main parameters in the batch coefficient of variation (CV%) of 0.11%~0.11%, between the group of CV% of 0.12%~0.12%, linear correlation r is 0.99991~0.99999, carry pollution rate was 0.00%~0.38%, the correlation analysis of each index r>0.999, the indicators accuracy verification bias of 0.67~0.67. Conclusion: XN-9000 instrument for determination of main parameters of precision, accuracy, linear, carrying pollution rate and other major evaluation indexes meet the requirements, test results can be used for clinical diagnosis and treatment of related diseases and curative effect judgment.

ABSTRACT

Acoustic neurinoma are the most frequent tumors in the region of the cerebellopontine angle. They usually present with a gradual onset of symptoms and slow progression. Development of spontaneous hemorrhage with sudden aggravation of symptoms is rare. The authors present a case of acoustic neurinoma associated with a spontaneous intratumoral hemorrhage. Sudden aggravation of symptoms was noticed. The cranial computed tomography revealed multiple blood-fluid levels within the cysts of the tumor which was located in the region of the right cerebellopontine angle. Operation was performed, which confirmed recent hemorrhage within the tumor. Pathological study revealed a typical neurilemmoma associated with hemorrhage, vascular proliferation and macrophages which phagocytosed hemosiderin pigments. The rare sudden aggravation of symptoms in cases of acoustic neurinoma may suggest hemorrhage.
