ABSTRACT

Members of the genus Botryosporium Corda, (Pezizomycotina, anamorph of Ascomycota) are hyaline filamentous fungi producing botryoblastospores by means of a synchronic conidiogenesis which are rarely reported in Chile, only at genus level. Herein the isolation of B.longibrachiatum var. longibrachiatum in our Region (Valparaíso) is described and illustrated, collected from canine food pellets, a specimen considered as one of the most beautiful representative within the group called hyphomycetes. Based on literature, its distribution, its particular habitats as well as its morphological aspects in culture are discussed, emphasizing this finding to be a new contribution to the diversity of microfungi in Chile.
