ABSTRACT

Carcinoma en cuirasse is a form of cutaneous metastasis. Although this condition is rare, it is most commonly associated with breast carcinoma with local recurrence after mastectomy. Cutaneous metastasis presents most commonly a few months or years after the primary has been diagnosed. Less frequently a metastasis is diagnosed at the same time as the primary tumor or presents as the first manifestation of the disease. We report a case of carcinoma en cuirasse in a 50-year-old female who presented with elevated, finely nodular, indurated skin lesions on left anterior chest wall, axillary region and keloid - like patch on left upper arm. On further examination a breast mass was detected. Fine needle aspiration of all the lesions was performed. Cytodiagnosis was given as infiltrating duct carcinoma of breast with metastatic carcinoma involving left anterior chest wall, axilla and left upper arm. We should not disregard keloid-like or indurated patches on skin which should be investigated thoroughly.

ABSTRACT

Cutaneous metastases originating from internal malignancy, including gastric adenocarcinoma, are uncommon. Although metastases may affect any cutaneous site, metastasis of the scrotum has very rarely been reported. It originates mostly from the kidneys and prostate. Carcinoma en cuirasse is a rare form of cutaneous metastasis characterized by a diffuse morphea-like induration of the skin. It is most commonly caused by breast cancer, but has occasionally been linked to the cancers of other organs. Herein, we report a rare case of carcinoma en cuirasse on the scrotum of a 53-year-old male patient, which developed from gastric adenocarcinoma.

ABSTRACT

Sweet's syndrome, also referred to as acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis, is characterized by tender, erythematous vesiculopapules and plaques, a high fever and general weakness. Histologically, a dense infiltration is composed predominantly of neutrophils, with edema in the upper dermis. We report two cases of sweet's syndrome with atypical clinical features: one presented with a carcinoma en cuirasse-like clinical feature, and the other presented with a cellulitis-like clinical feature.

ABSTRACT

Metastases to the skin from internal malignancy is rare condition which range from 0.7 to 9%. Because skin metastases sometimes represent the first sign of malignancy from an unknown primary origin and managing primary carcinoma may be mandated by detection of cutaneous metastases, it is important to recognize the clinical and histopathologic features of the metastatic skin cancer. Male breast cancer is uncommon disorder and cutaneous involvements in male breast cancer show various clinicopathologic types. We report 49-year-old man presented with a diffuse morphea-like induration on neck, chest and upper back which turned out to be carcinoma en cuirasse originating from breast cancer.

ABSTRACT

A 52-year-old male had presented with painful swelling on the left shoulder. The lesion had progressed to involve the left chest, neck, and arm, and 3 months later, evolved into brown to light purplish hard plaque mimicking the feature of scleroderma. A skin biopsy findings were consistent with metastatic carcinoma, and neck MRI and thyroid sonogram revealed primary thyroid cancer of left lobe. The patient's condition was carcinoma en cuirasse, an uncommon clinical feature of metastatic skin cancer. Skin metastasis of thyroid cancer is rare, and to our knowledge, there is not any documented case of carcinoma en cuirasse from thyroid cancer. We present a case of carcinoma en cuirasse from thyroid cancer.

ABSTRACT

Cutaneous metastases from gastric carcinoma are uncommon. The frequency of metastses to the skin from gastric carcinoma have ranged from 0.3% to 0.4%. Carcinoma en cuirasse, first described by Velpeau in 1838, is marked sclerodermatous change and characterized by a difffuse morphea-like induration of the skin and represents a rare manifestations of breast carcinoma metastatic to the chest wall. It is vary rarely seen in lung, stomach, kidney and other metastasizing malignancies. We report a case of carcinoma en cuirase and nodular carcinoma from gastric carcinoma in a 36-year-old male who complained chiefly of multiple cutaneous nodules. He had mixed lesions of an erythematous morphea-like induration on the neck and multiple erythematous nodules on the chest and abdomen. Gastroscopy finding showed a Borrmann type IV advanced gastric carcinoma. Histopathologic examination of skin and stomach showed atypical cells with pleomorpic, hyperchromatic nuclei and scanty, eosinophilic cytoplasm, which are consistent with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. Immunohistochemical stainings showed positive reaction for cytokeratin. He died three months after the appearance of cutaneous lesions.
