ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore rational statistical methods for analysis of the results of inter-laboratory comparisons, which will be helpful to improve the statistical analysis ability of organizers of proficiency testing project against pharmaceutical laboratories. METHODS: Robust statistical Z-score method and iterative computation method were used to analyze the assay result of cefminox sodium powder for injection respectively, and the critical statistical parameters of the two methods were compared. RESULTS: The critical statistical parameters of robust statistical Z-score method anf iterative computation method were as follows: the robust average were 77.71% and 77.63%, the robust standard deviation were 0.66 and 0.67, and the coefficients of variation were 0.85% and 0.86%, respectively. CONCLUSION: It is very important to select the correct statistical approach to evaluate the proficiency of pharmaceutical testing laboratories. By comparing the steady average and the median value of Z-score, the range of best estimates for the true value can be found, and the judgment for the outliers can be more accurate.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyse effect of dexamethasone combined with cefminox perioral injection on serum immunoglobulin in patients with oral and maxillofacial infection. Methods 46 patients who were diagnosed with oral and maxillofacial infection in our hospital were collected. All patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group,23 cases in each group.Control group was treated with cefminox 3.0 g,one time per day perioral injection on the basis of control group treatment, experimental group were given dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection 10 mg, one time per day perioral injection, After the treatment, the serum levels of immunoglobulin IgA,IgG,IgM,CRP and routine blood test were detected in all patients. Results Compared with control group post-treatment, the serum levels of IgA,IgG and IgM were lower in experimental group (P<0.05);the serum level of CRP was lower in experimental group (P<0.05);the serum levels of WBC,NET% were lower in experimental group (P<0.05). Conclusion The dexamethasone combined with cefminox perioral injection can significantly reduce the serum level of immunoglobulin,CRP,WBC and NET% in patients with oral and maxillofacial infection, control the infection and inhibit the development of the disease.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To observe the clinical efficacy of cefminox for the treatment of bacterial liver abscess. METHODS Totally 118 patients with bacterial liver abscess were treated with cefminox 2 g iv drip 12 h or 8 h for(5-10 d),then with cefminox 1 g in drip 12 h for 21-35 d. RESULTS The total cure rate was 89.4%,the overall efficacy rate was 97.6%,and side effect rate was 2.4%. CONCLUSIONS Cefminox is an effective antibiotic in treating bacterial liver abscess.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Recent clinical isolates of bacteria often produce various beta-lactamases, for example, extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) by some species of Enterobacteriaceae, TEM beta-lactamase by Haemophilus influenzae, and penicillinase by methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA). Cefminox, a commonly used cephamycin, is stable to various beta-lactamases, but its activity against recent clinical isolates has not been evaluated. The aim of this study was to determine the activities of cefminox against recent clinical isolates of Enterobacteriaceae, H. influenzae, and MSSA. METHODS: The organisms, isolated from Severance Hospital patients during 1997 to 1998, were kept frozen until the test. Antimicrobial susceptibility was determined by the NCCLS agar dilution method. RESULTS: All 30 isolates of Escherichia coli and 90% of 30 Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates were susceptible to cefminox, cefotetan and amikacin. All of the Enterobacter cloacae and Serratia marcescens, and 86% of Citrobacter freundii isolates were susceptible to amikacin. All of the 15 isolates each of Proteus mirabilis, P. vulgaris and Morganella morganii were susceptible to cefminox, cefotetan, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, and aztreonam, while all of the Providencia spp. were susceptible to ceftazidime and aztreonam. All of the 29 H. influenzae isolates were susceptible to cefminox, cefotaxime, and levofloxacin, while all MSSA isolates were susceptible to cefoxitin and cotrimoxazole. CONCLUSION: Cefminox is more active than the other beta-lactams against Enterobacteriaceae including, ESBL- producing E. coli, and K. pneumoniae.
