Present status of cervical immobilization skills for trauma of some hospital doctors of Hubei Province / 中华全科医师杂志

Retrospective analysis was conducted for the results of first-aid competitions so as to understand the present status of how emergency doctors of Hubei Province grasp the skills and consciousnesses of cervical immobilization.From 6 out of 19 teams,38 participating doctors from grade 3A hospitals provided patient cervical immobilization while 2 teams offered no cervical protection.It is necessary to intensify the skills and consciousnesses of cervical immobilization in clinical practice.

Cervical cord decompression and posterior cervical immobilization following anterior C1-C2 subluxation in a patient with MPS type IV (morquio syndrome) : A team approach.

We report a 23 month old gril who presented with right hemiparesis after falling for 6 months. She was also diagnosed with mucopolysaccharidosis type IV (Morquio syndrome) with C1-C2 subluxation. Anesthesia was uneventful after inhalation induction, manual in-line stabilization, intubation, external fixation of the cervical spine, followed by prone position and manual assisted ventilation. Postoperative pain was relieved using a tramadol infusion.
