ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To establish a population pharmacokinetics(PPK) model of teicoplanin(TEC) in Chinese adult patients and investigate the factors influencing TEC pharmacokinetic parameters. METHODS: A total of 222 blood samples and related information were prospectively collected from 139 inpatients with Gram-positive bacterial infection receiving TEC intravenously. A one-compartment model with first order elimination was used to perform the PPK analysis and the PPK model of TEC was developed via nonlinear mixed effects modeling(NONMEM) approach. The stability and prediction of the final model were evaluated by Bootstrap and normalized predictive distribution error (NPDE). Monte Carlo simulation was used to evaluate the effective of currently recommended dosing regimen. RESULTS: The creatinine clearance(CLcr) and albumin(ALB) were identified as the most significant covariate on the clearance rate of TEC. The established final model was: CL(L•h-1)=1.24×(CLcr/77)0.564×31/ALB;V(L)=69.2. It is verified that the established final model is stable, effective and predictable. For most patients with different serum albumin concentration and CLcr, the initial loading dose of 400 mg/q12h, iv, 3 times, and the maintenance dose of 400-800 mg•d-1 can achieve effective treatment of trough concentration. Severe infections need to adjust the loading dose to 800 mg/q12h, iv, 3 times, and maintain a dose of 400-800 mg•d-1 of the dosing regimens to ensure that the blood concentration reached 15 mg•L-1. CONCLUSION: This study reports that CLcr, ALB has a significant effect on TEC clearance and the model has important value for the individualization of TEC therapy in Chinese adult patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the relationship between meat consumption and metabolic syndrome (MS) in Chinese adults aged ≥18 years. Methods The data were obtained from 2010-2012 National Nutrition and Health Survey.A total of 34 923 subjects who completed the dietary survey, the physical examination and had the testing results of blood sugar and blood lipid levels were enrolled in this study.MS was defined according to the diagnostic criteria of China Diabetes Society 2013.The prevalence ratios of MS and each form of MS and related 95%CI were calculated after post stratification weight according to the population data (2009) released by the national bureau of statistics. Results The average meat intake among subjects was 94.8 g/d.People who had meat consumption between 100 g/d and 199 g/d had the lowest prevalence of MS,abdominal obesity and hyperglycemia. As the meat consumption increased, the prevalence of MS in men increased.Men who had meat consumption of ≥300 g/d had a higher risk of MS than those who had low level of meat consumption, with prevalence ratio equaled to 1.46 (95%CI:1.14 ~ 1.87).Similar trend was not observed in women. Conclusion Moderate intake of meat is associated with reduced risk of MS in Chinese adults.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the quality of life in adults with strabismus and evaluate the improvement in quality of life after treatment. METHODS: In this prospective study, forty-five adults with a diagnosis of strabismus conform to the inclusion and exclusion standard were selected in our hospital from October 2013 to May 2014, as experimental group and 45 normal adults were enrolled as control group. A Chinese Adult Strabismus-20 questionnaire was used to evaluate the differences of quality of life between patients with strabismus and normal adults, and to evaluate the differences of quality of life in patients with strabismus preoperative and 6mo postoperative. RESULTS:The scores of quality of life in adult patients with strabismus preoperative and 6mo postoperative were statistically significant lower than those of normal adults (P CONCLUSION: Strabismus can decrease the quality of life in psychosocial and visual functional for adults and the surgical treatment can improve quality of life in patients with strabismus.

ABSTRACT

[Objective]To measure the posterior sloope angle of proximal tibial medial meniscus(PSAPTMM) in Chinese adult, provide parameters for improving the design of knee prosthesis more suitable for Chinese and for resecting tibial plateau in total knee arthroplasty.[Method]Sixty-three male knees and 52 female knees of Chinese, without tibial deformity, genu varum and valgum, abnormal change of articular surface, and tibial trauma, with average age of 45.6 years(ranged,20~74 years, were divided into 3 groups according to persons age: group A,18~39 years;group B,40~50 years;group C,more than 60 years. The sagital tomography of medial meniscus of MRI were taken, stored, and measured using JENNY way.The data were analyzed statistically.[Result]By two factors analysis, the sex and age had no significant influence on PSAPTMM,and the angle was not different between the left and right knee.In male adult, the average degree of left PSAPTMM was(2.7?1.8,of the right(2.9?1.7)? with an average degree of both sides of(2.9?1.8.In female adult, the average degree of left PSAPTMM was(3.5?1.7,of the right(2.8?1.6,with the average degree of both sides(3.2?1.7.The average degree of group A were(3.6?1.6,group B(2.7?1.8,group C(2.8?1.7.There showed no significant difference of PSAPTMM between sex, side, and age.[Conclusion]The average degree of PSAPTMM in northern Chinese adult is(3.0?1.7,ranges from(0~6.2,and is larger than that of the westerns.
