ABSTRACT
Este trabalho tem a proposição de contribuir para que a comunicação entre ortodontistas e cirurgiões buco-maxilofaciais seja aumentada e melhorada, revisando e discutindo os princípios de diagnóstico e movimentação ortodôntica específicos para o paciente com indicação cirúrgica. Foram descritos os pontos eletivos na conduta do ortodontista para que suas decisões possam conduzir a um planejamento individualizado e adequado, buscando a excelência em termos de resultado para o tratamento ortodôntico-cirúrgico das discrepâncias dentofaciais.
This paper has the proposition of contributing so that the communication between orthodontist and maxillofacial surgeons is increased, revising and discussing the diagnosis beginnings and orthodontic movement for the patient with indication for orthognathic surgery.
