ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Yaotongning Capsule in acute sciatica suffered form cold dampness and blood stasis. Methods: A randomized, double-blind, and placebo controlled trial was performed. One hundred and forty-four patients with sciatica, who were in accordance with the accepting criteria from October 2008 to May 2009, were randomly divided into two groups, 72 cases treated with Yaotongning Capsule in the treatment group and 72 cases treated with placebo in the control group. Patients took five capsules with warm boiled water added yellow rice wine orally half an hour before sleep. The treatment course lasted for 2 weeks. Results: After one course of the treatment, there were significant differences in the curative rate between treatment group and control group. Compared with the control group, the disease control rate in the treatment group was obvious (U=4.138, P < 0.001); So did the pain relief (U=6.330, P < 0.001). And the differences both had statistical significance. There were no remarkable adverse event and side effect in the both groups. Conclusion: Yaotongning Capsule for sciatica suffered form cold dampness and blood stasis has reliable efficacy, safety, and less incident of adverse effects.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the clinical effects on advanced esophageal cancer by combined Xihuang Pill with chemotherapy. Methods: Dividing 35 advanced esophageal cancer cases randomly into two groups: 18 cases in the treatment group and 17 cases in the control group. Cases in the control group were treated by nedaplatin 40mg/m2,d1,2; 5-Fu400mg/m2,d1-5; CF200 mg/m2,d1-5. While the treatment with Xihuang Pill combined. The difference of quality of life, hematological toxicity, efficacy and symptoms between the two groups was observed. Results: The quality of life, remission rate of some symptom in the treatment group were much better than the control group, and the hematological toxicity and efficacy were the same. Conclusion: Xihuang Pill could improve the quality of life of advanced esophageal cancer patient, and alleviate some symptoms.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To observe the curative effect of Jingshichuan Capsule and to try to explore the therapeutic mechanism. METHODS: Medicines were taken orally. During experimental research an animal model of cholelithiasis was established through feeding guinea pig with food which placed a premium on shaping of cholith. The guinea pigs were divided into the pathologic group, the Jingshichuan group and the control group. The animal was executed after sixties days, the gallbladder was taken out by operation to inspect the shaping of cholith; the blood and the bile was collected to be measured; and parts of the tissue of liver and gallbladder were left for pathologic examination. RESULTS: The rate of clinic cure and the rate of effect of Jingshichuan group were separately 40.0% and 96.9%, which was significantly higher than the control group ( P
