ABSTRACT
Foreign language books recommended by readers include those marked with a circle by expert committee , pushed by E-mail, recommended on Internet , marked with a circle in booksellers catalogues , recommended on agentwebsite platforms, recommended on the spot book fair, selected according to bibliometric analysis and readers suggestions .Following suggestions were put forward for the solution of problems in foreign language books recommended by readers, such as immediate feedback, improving the acquisition ability of librarians and their website techniques, strengthening participation of subject librarians, and maintaining the sustainability of reader recommendations .

La adquisición de literatura científica, especialmente de monografías, constituye una imperiosa necesidad para el desarrollo de colecciones en cualquier organización de información. En tal sentido el objetivo del siguiente artículo es exponer la experiencia de la adquisición de fuentes documentales por medio de proyectos de investigación en el año 2013. Se realizó una revisión documental sobre el tema, desarrollo de colecciones en revistas especializadas en las Bases de datos Scielo y Medline, encontrándose varios artículos que abordan el tema del proceso selección/adquisición documental en salud, los cuales afirman que este es uno procesos más importantes en cualquier organización de información. Por cuanto es instrumento efectivo para adecuar los recursos disponibles a la ingente oferta informativo-documental del mercado y a la satisfacción de las necesidades informativas de los usuarios. No se encontró ningún artículo que hiciera referencia, específicamente, a la gestión documental a través de proyectos internacionales, como elemento estratégico. En cualquier organización de Información, el proceso selección/adquisición documental constituye un elemento fundamental por cuanto, las colecciones son la base de los servicios que dan cobertura a las necesidades informativas de los usuarios. Se ofrece el listado de los 52 títulos de fuentes documentales adquiridas recientemente por esta vía, de las temáticas: Microbiología Sanitaria, Parasitología, Economía de la Salud, Epidemiología, Salud Pública, Salud Internacional, Bioestadística, Salud ambiental, Sociología aplicada a la Medicina, Determinantes Sociales de la Salud, Inmunología y Nutrición, entre otras(AU)
Acquisition of scientific literature, mainly monographs is a must for the development of collections in any information organization. In this regard, the objective of the present article was to present the experiences gained in acquiring documentary sources by means of research projects in 2013. A documentary review on the topic ¨development of collections¨ in specialized journals in Scielo and Medline databases was made; the final result was several articles dealing with the process of selection and acquisition of health documents, which stated that this is one of the most important processes in any information organization. This is an effective instrument to adapt the available resources to the immediate informative and documentary offer at the market and to the satisfaction of the information requirements of users. There was no article that made particular reference to the documentary management through international projects as strategic tool. In every information organization, the document selection and acquisition is fundamental because the collections are the basis for services covering the users´ information needs. This paper offered the listing of 52 titles of documentary sources recently acquired through this pathway on the themes: health microbiology, parasitology, health economics, epidemiology, public health, international health, biostatistics, environmental health, sociology applied to medicine, social determinants of health, immunology and nutrition, among others(AU)

Fundamento: la evaluación de la colección bibliográfica representa uno de los elementos de mayor importancia dentro del proceso de desarrollo de las bibliotecas, para garantizar la satisfacción de las necesidades informativas de sus usuarios. Objetivo: evaluar el estado actual de la colección bibliográfica que conforma la Biblioteca del Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara. Métodos: se realizó una investigación documental en el período comprendido del 2010 al 2012; se emplearon métodos teóricos: histórico-lógico y analítico-sintético; y empíricos: el análisis documental, y la encuesta en forma de entrevista a informantes clave, para conocer su respaldo bibliográfico de las diferentes especialidades dentro del fondo documental. Resultados: todas las especialidades están representadas dentro del fondo documental pero existen debilidades relacionadas con el cubrimiento, en relación con su desactualización; la composición temática fue evaluada de regular en seis especialidades, y una obtuvo la calificación de mal. La totalidad del fondo documental está debidamente procesado y es posible acceder a él mediante las bases de datos bibliográficas de referencia existentes. Conclusiones: en la evaluación realizada constituye una fortaleza la composición temática, y son debilidades el nivel de desactualización, y el tamaño por diversas categorías. En general, ninguna especialidad fue evaluada de excelente, de acuerdo con los indicadores establecidos.
Background: collection evaluation represents one of the most important elements within the collection development process in libraries for satisfying user's information needs. Objective: to evaluate the current state of the library collection that makes up the library at the Provincial Information Center of Medical Sciences in Villa Clara. Methods: a documentary research was conducted in the period from 2010 to 2012 period; theoretical methods: historical-logical and analytic-synthetic; and empirical ones: documental analysis, and the survey as key informant interview, were used, mainly to know, the lines of research in each of the specialties and to assess the status of them on the documentary collection. Results: all specialties are represented on the documentary collection but there are weaknesses related to informational coverage because information is outdated; the thematic composition was assessed regular in six specialties, and one of them was rated poorly. The entire documentary collection is duly processed and you may access to it through the existing bibliographic reference databases. Conclusions: in the evaluation that was performed, thematic composition is a strength and the outdating level, and size for various categories, are weaknesses. In general, according to previously established indicators, any specialty was assessed as excellent.

A method to assess library-holding journals according to their weighted citations was proposed in light of the actual needs of users for core journals, the use of library-holding journals and references by authors in different orders of precedence.The Western journal of rheumatology, highly cited by authors of Second Military Medical U-niversity, were assessed using this method, showing that this method is better than the citation analysis-based tra-ditional method in assessment of journals.

This paper analyzes that information techniques have agreat dmpact on the construction of literature resource.It also presents problems involved in the current information resources development in a special library.Based on the above analysis,the authors put some suggestions in order to improve the quality of the literature resource construction.
