ABSTRACT

Clinical and endoscopic data of 6 patients with colorectal mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma who were diagnosed by endoscopy in the Digestive Endoscopy Center of Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine from January 2015 to June 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 2 males and 4 females with aged from 62 to 87 years. The lesions were located in rectum in 3 cases, transverse colon in 1 case, sigmoid colon in 1 case, and sigmoid colon and rectum in 1 case. There were 1 case of polyposis type, 2 cases of inflammation type, and 3 cases of submucosal tumor type. The "tree-like appearance (TLA)" found in 5 cases. Endoscopic resection, surgery combined with chemotherapy, Helicobacter pylori eradication and follow-up were performed on 2, 1, 1 and 2 cases, respectively. Five cases had a good prognosis after 21-73 months follow-up, and 1 case had lost to follow-up. No recurrence was found in endoscopic and imaging review. Colorectal MALT lymphoma should be considered when colonoscopy detects a submucosal lesion with TLA sign on the left colon. Endoscopic resection has the potential to be a first-line treatment in the context of early diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evalulate the clinical value of magnifying endoscopy(ME)in combination with pit pattern in the detection and diagnosis of colorectal lesions. Methods Once the lesions were detected by ME,Indigo Carmine was sprayed, the pit pattern observed and the type of the lesion determined according to the Kudo' criteria for classification. The pathology diagnosis was as contrast. Results The accuracies of ME in detection of inflammatory polyps, tubular adenomas, villous adenomas or colorectal cancer were 100%,93.3%,90.9% and 100% respectively,as compared with those of the pathology outcomes. And the total accuracy was 96.1%.Conclusion ME examination, which appears to be sensitive in distinguishing the neoplasms from the non-neoplasms,or the benign from the malignant, can also be applied for predicting the depth of cancers and choosing the strategy of therapy. It is,therefore,of value to the detection and diagnosis of colorectal lesions.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of magnifying chromoscopy in combination with Kudo criteria in detection and diagnosis of colorectal lesions. Methods After conventional electronic colonoscopic diagnosis of 125 colorectal lesions, staining and magnifying observation by chromoscopy were made with Kudo criteria, and biopsy specimen and resected samples were sent for pathologic examinations. Results The accuracy of ordinary colonoscopy and magnifying colonoscopy compared with histological diagnosis of inflammatory polyps, tubular adenomas, villous adenomas and colorectal cancer was 95.62%, 80%, 90% and 100% respectively and 100%, 93.75%, 92.86% and 100% respectively. The overall accuracy of two procedures was 85.6% and 95.2% respectively. Conclusions Magnifying chromoscopy is valuable in detection of tiny and slightly elevated colorectal lesion, and has high efficacy in judging the nature of lesions with Kudo criteria.
