ABSTRACT

Background: Pharmaceutical companies use drug promotional literature (DPL) as an important mode to promote their products and it also influences the prescribing behavior of prescribers. However, information provided in promotional literature may be inadequate or misleading which may lead to irrational prescribing. The WHO has provided ethical criteria for medicinal drug promotion. Aims and Objectives: This study was undertaken with the aim to analyze the promotional drug literature for their compliance to the WHO ethical criteria for medicinal drug promotion, 1988. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional and observational study was carried out to evaluate the extent to which promotional literature collected from private physicians meet the WHO ethical criteria for medicinal drug promotion. A total of 100 promotional literature were evaluated for their fulfillment of the WHO criteria. Results: Information regarding brand name, generic name of drugs, dosage form, therapeutic uses, and active ingredient per dosage form was present in most of the promotional drug literature in the present study. However, the information such as safety profile of drugs, precautions, warnings, and drug interactions was not mentioned in most of the DPLs. Conclusion: The majority of DPLs evaluated in this study did not comply with the WHO guidelines for medical drug promotion. As prescribing behavior of physicians is influenced by promotional literatures, regular training of health professionals and medical students regarding critical analysis of DPLs can help in ethical and rational prescribing.

Pro?tability ratios are ?nancial metrics used by analysts and investors to measure and evaluate the ability of a company to generate income (pro?t) relative to revenue, balance sheet assets, operating costs, and shareholders' equity during a speci?c period of time. The period of study would be ten years during 2010-11 to 2019-20.

ABSTRACT

Resumen Debido a las restricciones sanitarias secundarias a la pandemia de COVID-19, diversas interacciones entre la industria farmacéutica y los médicos cambiaron. Una de ellas ha sido el método promocional de medicamentos a través de reuniones académicas en torno a padecimientos de interés financiero. Una modalidad reciente ha sido la promoción unilateral de un fármaco determinado por parte de la industria farmacéutica por medio de eventos académicos con la invitación de aparentes "expertos". Estas reuniones frecuentemente están sesgadas no hacia la atención óptima de un padecimiento, sino a la promoción comercial de un medicamento específico que pudiera o no ser la mejor opción o sin la consideración de alternativas terapéuticas asociadas. El Comité de Ética y Transparencia en la Relación Médico-Industria, de la Academia Nacional de Medicina de México, analiza esta nueva circunstancia y propone algunas consideraciones a la comunidad médica.


Abstract Due to sanitary restrictions secondary to the COVID-19 pandemic, various interactions between the pharmaceutical industry and physicians have changed. One of them has been the method for promoting medicinal products through academic meetings around diseases of financial interest. A recent modality has been unilateral promotion by the pharmaceutical industry through academic events with the invitation of so-called "experts" for the promotion of a specific drug; these meetings are often biased not towards optimal care of a disease, but rather towards commercial promotion of a specific drug, which may or may not be the best option, without considering associated therapeutic alternatives. The Committee of Ethics and Transparency in the Physician-Industry Relationship, of the National Academy of Medicine, analyzes this new circumstance and proposes some considerations to the medical community.

ABSTRACT

The study has made an attempt on the Corporate Governance practices of listed companies in the respective study area. It mainly focuses on the CG and rests upon four pillars, viz., Transparency, Full disclosure, Independent monitoring and being fair to all, especially to minority shareholders. Corporate Governance refers to myriad mechanisms that shape the structure of incentives, disincentives, and prohibitions, under which an issuer's management makes decisions. In a modern corporation operating in a globalised world, concepts of disclosure and corporate governance are intertwined. Disclosure mechanism can be associated with the broader view of corporate governance that is not just restricted to shareholders, but also the aggregate of institutional and organizational factors that influence large decisions of public companies because public companies generates capital from various constituents. Corporate governance is an area that secures how efficiently manages corporations by the use of incentive mechanism, such as contracts, organizations and legislations. Transparency, corporate fairness and accountability are the important pillars of corporate governance. It is known for formally establishing guidelines regarding how a company is going to function. Enhanced and revised corporate governance policies are required in order to reduce the effect of financial crisis. International investors also invest in companies who follow good governance principles. From the international point of view they are the basic building blocks of the market. The researcher has used both Primary data and Secondary data methods of data collection. Simple random sampling method has been adopted for the study. The statistical tools like percentage analysis, chi-Square test, ANOVA and t-Test has been used for the study. The study highlights that 60 per cent of the companies are organizing programmes/talks/training for Independent Directors in matters relating to Corporate Governance. It is found that 100 per cent of the listed companies i.e. all the listed companies have disclosed to the shareholders in the annual report in relation to financial calendar. The basis of non-mandatory provisions and suggested items are to be included in the corporate governance. It can be concluded that listed companies are following only forced regulation and are not showing much interest in the voluntary compliance of rules and regulations.

Introduction@#Companies and hospitals in the healthcare industry, like other businesses, are not exempted from the rising labor costs and growing dissatisfaction among employees. The assessment and optimization of total rewards management (TRM) are important since TRM consists of monetary and non-monetary rewards given to employees in exchange for their time, talents, and efforts. @*Objective@#This study assessed the TRM in Philippine healthcare companies. This study also looked into the organizational structure of various health-service companies and their TRM, and the difference between companies with TRM and without TRM in terms of pay, benefits, work-life balance, career development, and performance recognition. @*Method@#A total of 74 human resource personnel were randomly sampled from healthcare companies in the Philippines. A survey questionnaire was administered with items on TRM philosophy divided into five parts – pay, benefits, work-life balance, career development, and performance recognition. High mean scores per TRM component correspond to higher levels of agreement to positive statements to the corresponding TRM component. Chi-square test was used to determine the association between various demographic variables and the existence of a TRM philosophy in a company. T-test was used to determine whether the differences in the mean scores per TRM component were statistically significant or not. @*Results@#Less than half (44%) of the included companies have TRM and companies in Metro Manila were more likely to have an existing TRM philosophy. Companies in the healthcare sector usually disseminate information on TRM during town hall meetings, and not during onboarding. Employees in the healthcare companies had strict work schedules as most employers did not allow flexi-time arrangements. This may have contributed to burnout and stress that are common in most companies. Lastly, employees working in companies with a TRM philosophy do not experience significantly better pay, benefits, work-life balance, career development, and performance recognition than those working in companies without TRM. @*Conclusion@#These findings suggest that even companies with an established TRM philosophy need significant improvement in their TRM processes for TRM to translate to better pay, benefits, work-life balance, career development, and performance recognition.

ABSTRACT

RESUMEN El objetivo es desarrollar un modelo de planeación financiera que permita calcular las ganancias probables de una compañía de alimentos en Colombia, en un horizonte temporal de seis años. La metodología utilizada es el Valor Presente Neto de sus flujos de caja libre, calculados a partir de 38 variables de entrada y de proceso que recogen el aspecto macroeconómico, las políticas financieras y los estados contables. Se realizaron 10.000 iteraciones con la técnica de simulación Montecarlo. Los resultados de la simulación indican que sus ganancias probables están entre $278.293 millones y $449.934 millones con un nivel de confianza del 90%. El análisis de sensibilidad del plan financiero permite concluir que la compañía debe reformular sus políticas financieras relacionadas con la administración del capital de trabajo, dado que la cartera y principalmente los inventarios tienen una influencia negativa sobre el VPN, según los coeficientes de regresión. ABSTRACT The goal is to develop a financial planning model that allows calculating the probable profits of a food company in Colombia, in a time horizon of six years. The methodology used is the Net Present Value of its Free Cash Flow, calculated from 38 input and process variables that include the macroeconomic aspect, financial policies and financial statements. 10.000 iterations were carried out with the Montecarlo simulation technique. The simulation results indicate that its probable profits are between $278.293 million and y $449.934 million with a confidence level of 90%. The sensitivity analysis of the financial plan allows to conclude that the company should reformulate its financial policies related to the management of working capital, since the debt clients and mainly the inventories has a negative influence on the Net Present Value, according the regression coefficients. RESUMO O objectivo é desenvolver um modelo de planeamento financeiro que permita calcular os prováveis lucros de uma empresa alimentar na Colômbia, num horizonte temporal de seis anos. A metodologia utilizada é o Valor Presente Líquido dos seus fluxos de caixa livres, calculado a partir de 38 variáveis de entrada e de processo que recolhem o aspecto macroeconómico, as políticas financeiras e as declarações contabilísticas. Um total de 10.000 iterações foram realizadas utilizando a técnica de simulação de Monte Carlo. Os resultados da simulação indicam que os seus prováveis lucros se situam entre $278,293 milhões e $449,934 milhões com um nível de confiança de 90%. A análise de sensibilidade do plano financeiro permite concluir que a empresa deve reformular as suas políticas financeiras relacionadas com a gestão do capital de exploração, uma vez que a carteira e principalmente os inventários têm uma influência negativa no VPL, de acordo com os coeficientes de regressão. ABSTRACT

School achievement is under a multiple factorial context related to student, school and family (SSF). Based on 23.141 Brazilians self-reports, obtained from PISA 2015, representative SSF measures were selected, and their impacts measured on school performance scores in mathematics, reading and science. The feeling of belonging to the school (BELONG) and parents' emotional support (EMOSUPS) were strongly correlated with the three investigated performances. EMOSUPS affected how the student feels at school and when being assessed. And the educational and cultural resources of the home affected EEC three dimensions, increasing EMOSUPS, BELONG and school performance, and decreasing anxiety during assessments. Thus, the importance of the school and family environments on students' performance is reiterated and calls for public policies in education that considers the three dimensions. (AU)


O desempenho escolar está sujeito a um contexto de múltiplos fatores, relacionados ao estudante, escola e família (EEF). A partir de autorrelatos de 23.141 brasileiros, obtidos do PISA 2015, foram selecionadas medidas representativas de EEF e medidos seus impactos sobre escores de desempenho escolar em matemática, leitura e ciências. Registrou-se forte correlação entre a sensação de pertencimento à escola (BELONG) e suporte emocional da família (EMOSUPS) com os três desempenhos investigados; o EMOSUPS teve efeito sobre como o estudante se sente na escola e quando é avaliado; os recursos educacionais e culturais do lar afetaram as três dimensões de EEC, no sentido de aumentar o EMOSUPS, BELONG, e os desempenhos escolares e diminuição da ansiedade durante avaliações. Reitera-se assim a importância do ambiente escolar e da família sobre o desempenho dos estudantes, e a necessidade de essas dimensões serem alvo de políticas públicas na área da educação. (AU)


El rendimiento escolar se comprende bajo un contexto factorial múltiple, relacionado con el estudiante, la escuela y la familia (EEF). Con base en 23.141 autoinformes de brasileños, obtenidos del examen PISA 2015, se seleccionaron medidas de EEF representativas y se midieron sus impactos en los puntajes de rendimiento escolar en matemáticas, lectura y ciencias. El sentimiento de pertenencia a la escuela (BELONG) y el apoyo emocional de los padres (EMOSUPS) se correlacionaron estrechamente con los tres desempeños investigados. El EMOSUPS influyó en cómo se siente el estudiante, tanto en la escuela como cuando está siendo evaluado. Los recursos educativos y culturales del hogar afectaron a las tres dimensiones del EEC, aumentando el EMOSUPS, BELONG y el rendimiento escolar, y disminuyendo la ansiedad durante las evaluaciones. Ante estos resultados, se reitera la importancia del entorno escolar y familiar en el rendimiento de los estudiantes y la necesidad de que las políticas públicas en educación consideren estas tres dimensiones. To increase the amount of meat produced, researchers have promoted intensive genetic selection for growth rate and muscling and have improved nutrition and management conditions. However, there has been an increase in the number of reports of breast muscle myopathies observed in poultry processing plants, including white striping (WS) and wooden breast (WB). This study aimed to evaluate and to compare the occurrence of WS and WB myopathies in three poultry processing plants and to perform an anatomopathological characterization, including macroscopic and microscopic analyses. A total of 408,334 carcasses were condemned or downgraded due to the presence of WB or WS, which represents 0.73% of the total number of slaughtered animals during the evaluated period. WB was more frequent than WS, but the occurrence of each myopathy varied significantly according to each establishment. WB was more frequent in the establishment which includes only male flocks, an average age of 45 days, and an average live weight of 2775g (B). WS was more frequent in establishment with male, female and mixed flocks, average ages ranging from 41 to 44 days, and average live weight 1731g-2830g (A). It is probably related with specific condition of each poultry company, including genetics, age, nutrition and management conditions. Macroscopically, WB and WS lesions are characterized by hypertrophy and stiffness of the pectoralis major muscle. Under microscopy, the myopathies showed similarities regarding the detected histological abnormalities, characterized by a process of myodegeneration, although the connective tissue infiltrate was more severe in the breasts with WB than in those with WS myopathy. The results found in this study demonstrate that the rates of condemnation for these myopathies are high, vary significantly among the analyzed companies and may cause major economic losses for the productive sector in the region.(AU)


Para melhorar a quantidade de carne produzida, os pesquisadores têm promovido ao longo dos anos uma seleção genética intensiva para a taxa de crescimento e desenvolvimento de músculos, além de melhorias nas condições nutricionais, sanitárias e de manejo. No entanto, houve um aumento no número de relatos de miopatias dos músculos do peito observados em abatedouros-frigoríficos de aves, incluindo white striping (WS) e wooden breast (WB). O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a ocorrência de WB e WS em três abatedouros-frigoríficos de aves e realizar uma caracterização anatomopatológica, incluindo análises macroscópicas e microscópicas. Um total de 408.334 carcaças foi condenado (total ou parcialmente) devido à presença WB ou WS, o que representou 0,73% do número total de animais abatidos durante o período avaliado. Apesar de a ocorrência de WB ter sido maior do que a de WS, a frequência de cada uma variou significativamente de acordo com o estabelecimento. Resumen Introducción: en la actualidad, el liderazgo, la cultura y el clima organizacional que ejercen los grupos informales representan algunos de los factores clave en el rendimiento empresarial de las MiPyMES debido a que fortalece el incremento de la productividad en un mercado altamente competitivo. Objetivo: el propósito de la investigación es identificar la influencia conjunta del liderazgo transformacional, la cultura clan y el clima organizacional que presentan los grupos informales de trabajo sobre el rendimiento empresarial de las MiPyMES de la región del bajío del estado de Guanajuato, México. Materiales y métodos: el diseño metodológico fue cuantitativo, explicativo, observacional y transversal. Se empleó una muestra de 225 participantes. Para la comprobación de hipótesis se desarrolló un modelo de ecuación estructural (SEM). En cuanto a los índices de bondad y ajuste del SEM (χ2=146.10 gl=52; CFI=0.969 y TLI=0.960; RMSEA=.06) fueron absolutamente aceptables. Resultados: de acuerdo con los resultados obtenidos a través del SEM, se demuestra que el liderazgo transformacional influye positiva y significativamente sobre el clima organizacional (β1=0.26; p<0.001) como también en la cultura clan (β2=0.81; p<0.001) de los grupos informales. Asimismo, la cultura clan de los grupos informales influye (β3=0.61; p<0.001) positiva y significativamente sobre el clima organizacional. Finalmente, el clima organizacional de los grupos informales influye (β4=0.68; p<0.001) positiva y significativamente sobre el rendimiento empresarial de las MiPyMES. Conclusión: Los grupos informales representan un recurso promueve en el éxito de las MiPyMES y con ello, potencializar el rendimiento del sector empresarial de las MiPyMES en estado de Guanajuato.


Abstract Introduction: At present, the leadership, culture and organizational climate exercised by informal groups represent some of the key factors in the business performance of MSMEs because it strengthens the increase in productivity in a highly competitive market. Objective: the purpose of the research is to identify the joint influence of transformational leadership, clan culture and organizational climate presented by informal work groups on the business performance of MSMEs in the Bajio region of the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Materials and methods: the methodological design was quantitative, explanatory, observational and transversal. A sample of 225 participants was used. For hypothesis testing, a structural equation model (SEM) was developed. Regarding the goodness and fit indices of the SEM (χ2 = 146.10 gl = 52; CFI = 0.969 and TLI = 0.960; RMSEA = 0.06) they were absolutely acceptable. Results: according to the results obtained through the SEM, it is shown that transformational leadership positively and significantly influences the organizational climate (β1 = 0.26; p <0.001) as well as clan culture (β2 = 0.81; p <0.001) of informal groups. Likewise, the clan culture of informal groups influences (β3 = 0.61; p <0.001) positively and significantly on the organizational climate. Finally, the organizational climate of informal groups has a positive and significant influence (β4 = 0.68; p <0.001) on the business performance of MSMEs. Conclusions: informal groups represent a resource that promotes the success of MSMEs and with it, potentiates the performance of the business sector of MSMEs in the state of Guanajuato.


Resumo Introdução: atualmente, a liderança, a cultura e o clima organizacional exercido pelos grupos informais representam alguns dos fatores-chave no desempenho empresarial das MPMEs, pois fortalecem o aumento da produtividade em um mercado altamente competitivo. Objetivo: o objetivo da pesquisa é identificar a influência conjunta da liderança transformacional, cultura de clã e clima organizacional apresentada por grupos de trabalho informais sobre o desempenho empresarial das MPMEs na região de Bajío, no estado de Guanajuato, México. Materiais e métodos: o desenho metodológico foi quantitativo, explicativo, observacional e transversal. Uma amostra de 225 participantes foi utilizada. Para o teste de hipótese, um modelo de equação estrutural (SEM) foi desenvolvido. Em relação aos índices de bondade e ajuste do SEM (χ2 = 146,10 gl = 52; CFI = 0,969 e TLI = 0,960; RMSEA = 0,06), eles foram absolutamente aceitáveis. Resultados: de acordo com os resultados obtidos por meio do SEM, mostra-se que a liderança transformacional influência positiva e significativamente o clima organizacional (β1 = 0,26; p <0,001) e também a cultura do clã (β2 = 0,81; p <0,001) de grupos informais. Da mesma forma, a cultura de clã dos grupos informais influência (β3 = 0,61; p <0,001) positiva e significativamente no clima organizacional. Por fim, o clima organizacional dos grupos informais influência (β4 = 0,68; p <0,001) de forma positiva e significativa no desempenho empresarial das MPMEs. Conclusões: os grupos informais representam um recurso que promove o sucesso das MPMEs e com isso potencializa a atuação do setor empresarial das MPMEs no estado de Guanajuato.

ABSTRACT

Este estudo qualitativo objetivou avaliar o interesse e a satisfação de participantes de um programa lúdico para o âmbito corporativo e foi desenvolvido por meio de pesquisas bibliográfica e exploratória. A amostra contou com 25 funcionários de uma empresa, escolhida por conveniência, os quais participaram de um programa lúdico de longo prazo, visando refletir sobre problemas relacionados ao contexto do trabalho, de forma colaborativa, por meio de jogos. Os resultados da aplicação de escala do tipo Likert, analisados descritivamente pela Técnica de Análise de Conteúdo, indicam alto interesse e satisfação dos participantes frente às intervenções lúdicas realizadas durante o programa oferecido. Com base nesses resultados, torna-se relevante a ampliação das discussões sobre esta temática, no sentido de incentivar novas práticas envolvendo o lúdico e empresas.


This qualitative study aimed to analyze the interest and satisfaction of the participants of a program interventions playfulin the corporate field, developed through bibliographical and exploratory researches. Twenty-five employees, of a chosen company, took part in a long-term program inteventions playful in order to reflect upon the problems related to the working environment in a collaborative way through games. The results of the application of a Likert scale which was descriptively analyzed by Content Analysis Technique and pointed out the high participant's interest and satisfaction concerning the playful activities that were present during the offered program. Based on these results, it is relevant to broaden the discussions about this issue so as to encourage new practices involving interventions playful in companies.

ABSTRACT

Background: Medicines play a main role in the process of human development. The rational utilization of medicines can decrease morbidity and mortality as well as improve quality of life. In an era of steeply rising health care expenses, generic medicines provide a less expensive alternative to branded medicines. Use of generic drugs can contribute to substantial savings in medicines expenditure and the issue of access and affordability is thus addressed.Methods: A sample of 500 patients selected from out patient department was randomly selected. A self-instructed questionnaire was used for the study for the duration of 1 month. Data was analyzed using IBM SPSS statistics Version 20 New York, United States. Summary statistics were expressed using mean and standard deviation (SD) for numerical variables (median and interquartile ranges [IQRs] when skewed) and counts and percentages for categorical variables.Results: Participants reported with 17.23% knowledge score, 40.65% attitude score, and 7.96% attitude score.Conclusions: In the study it was found that there is significant correlation between knowledge and attitude whereas no correlation was found between knowledge and practice regarding usage of generic drugs.

Resumen La investigación clínica es la herramienta de mayor importancia para la identificación de estrategias diagnósticas y terapéuticas que deriven en mayor eficacia y seguridad. A pesar de su trascendencia, la implementación exitosa de la investigación clínica presenta numerosas dificultades; entre las más relevantes se encuentra la poca disponibilidad de recursos para realizar ensayos clínicos independientes. Por lo general, la industria farmacéutica absorbe los costos asociados con la mayoría de los ensayos clínicos, sin embargo, esto puede generar una disociación entre los temas de interés y las prioridades en salud, al existir interés económico como principal motivación de estos protocolos. Además del papel relevante de la industria farmacéutica, es importante que las instancias gubernamentales favorezcan las condiciones, tanto económicas como regulatorias, para la implementación de investigación clínica independiente, que aborde temas de interés médico y terapéutico, aunque no genere beneficios económicos empresariales.


Abstract Clinical research is the most important tool for the identification of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies that derive in higher efficacy and safety. Despite its significance, successful implementation of clinical research faces numerous difficulties, with one the most relevant being limited availability of resources for the performance of independent clinical trials. Generally, the pharmaceutical industry absorbs the costs associated with most clinical trials; however, this can generate dissociation between subjects of interest and health priorities when economic interest is the main driver of these protocols. In addition to the relevant role played by the pharmaceutical industry, it is important that government agencies favor adequate conditions, both in economic and regulatory aspects, for the implementation of independent clinical research that addresses subjects of medical and therapeutic interest, even if it does not generate corporate economic benefits.

Resumen El objetivo de este artículo es evidenciar si existen criterios definidos desde el direccionamiento estratégico de las medianas empresas del sector industria y comercio de Santiago de Cali, que aporten a la gestión del conocimiento en este tipo de organizaciones. La investigación fue abordada desde un enfoque cuantitativo de diseño no experimental, su propósito es describir variables y analizar su incidencia e interrelación en un momento dado. Para la recolección de la información se aplicó una encuesta a 63 empresas medianas del sector industria y comercio y se procesaron los datos obtenidos utilizando herramientas estadísticas como el Alfa de Cronbach, tablas de frecuencia y el coeficiente Pearson. Según los resultados, las medianas empresas del sector industria y comercio de Santiago de Cali, no establecen criterios de manera formal, desde el direccionamiento estratégico que aporten a la gestión del conocimiento; esto ocurre principalmente porque la definición y/o modificación de los aspectos estratégicos se concentra en los directivos, y por la existencia de rígidas líneas de autoridad en los distintos niveles de estas organizaciones, lo cual impide el aporte de los colaboradores mediante su experiencia al mejoramiento de los procesos y dificulta la movilización del conocimiento. Abstract The objective of this article is to show if there are criteria defined from the strategic direction of medium-sized companies in the industry and commerce of Santiago de Cali, which contribute to knowledge management in this type of organization. The research was approached from a quantitative non-experimental design approach, its purpose is to describe variables and analyze their incidence and interrelation at a given time. To collect the information, a survey was applied to 63 medium-sized companies in the industry and commerce sector and the data obtained were processed using statistical tools such as the Cronbach's Alpha, frequency tables and the Pearson coefficient. According to the results of the study, medium-sized companies in the industry and commerce sector of Santiago de Cali, do not formally establish criteria based on the strategic direction that they contribute to knowledge management; this occurs mainly because the definition and / or modification of the strategic aspects is concentrated in the managers, and by the existence of rigid lines of authority in the different levels of these organizations, which prevents the contribution of the collaborators through their experience to the improvement of the processes and hinders the mobilization of knowledge. A pesquisa foi abordada a partir de uma abordagem quantitativa não experimental, cujo objetivo é descrever variáveis e analisar sua incidência e inter-relação em um dado momento. Para coletar as informações, foi aplicado um survey em 63 empresas de médio porte do setor de comércio e indústria e os dados obtidos foram processados por meio de ferramentas estatísticas, como o Alfa de Cronbach, as tabelas de frequência e o coeficiente de Pearson. De acordo com os resultados do estudo, as empresas de médio porte do setor industrial e de comércio de Santiago de Cali, não estabelecem formalmente critérios com base na direção estratégica que contribuem para a gestão do conhecimento; isso ocorre principalmente porque a definição e / ou modificação dos aspectos estratégicos está concentrada nos gestores, e pela existência de rígidas linhas de autoridade nos diferentes níveis dessas organizações, o que impede a contribuição dos colaboradores por meio de sua experiência para a melhoria dos processos e dificulta a mobilização do conhecimento. Resumen Este artículo tiene como propósito examinar el desempeño financiero de veintiún empresas del sector real consideradas como las más innovadoras de Colombia al 2016. Para ello se realizó un estudio descriptivo de los indicadores contables de apalancamiento financiero total, rotación de activos operacionales, margen de utilidad neta y rendimiento del patrimonio, además de los indicadores financieros de valor económico agregado y valor de mercado agregado durante el período de 2012 al 2016. Los resultados evidencian que, de las veintiún empresas estudiadas, veinte generan un rendimiento sobre el patrimonio positivo, nueve empresas generan un valor de mercado agregado positivo y solo cuatro generan un valor económico agregado positivo cada año. Igualmente se estudian los efectos que tienen el activo neto operacional, el costo de capital y la utilidad operacional antes de impuestos para la generación de valor económico agregado en la muestra de empresas. Abstract This article is aimed at examining the financial performance of twenty-one real sector companies considered the most innovative of Colombia in 2016. For this purpose, a descriptive study was made of the accounting indicators of leverage, asset turnover ratio, net income margin and return on equity in addition to the financial indicators of economic value added and market value added during the period from 2012 to 2016. The results show that, of the twenty-one companies studied, twenty generate a positive return on equity, nine companies generate a positive market value added and only four companies generate a positive economic value added every year The effects of the net operating assets, the cost of capital and the earnings before interest and taxes for the generation of economic value added are also studied in the sample of companies. Resumo Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar o desempenho financeiro das empresas do setor real vinte considerado o mais inovador da Colômbia a 2016. Um estudo descritivo de indicadores financeiros de alavancagem financeira total, o volume de ativos operacionais, foi realizada margem de lucro líquido e retorno sobre o patrimônio, além dos indicadores financeiros de valor econômico agregado e valor agregado de mercado no período de 2012 a 2016. Os resultados mostram que, das vinte e uma empresas estudadas, vinte geram retorno sobre patrimônio líquido positivo, nove empresas geram um valor agregado de mercado positivo e apenas quatro geram um valor econômico agregado positivo a cada ano. Os efeitos dos ativos operacionais líquidos, custo de capital e resultado operacional antes dos impostos para a geração de valor econômico agregado na amostra de empresas também são estudados. ABSTRACT

Objetivo: No Brasil, estudos sobre o tempo de vida das operadoras de planos de saúde são escassos. Assim, o artigo tem o objetivo de investigar fatores econômicos que explicam a sobrevida de empresas de plano de saúde. Métodos: Foi utilizada a técnica estatística denominada análise de sobrevivência, por meio do modelo semiparamétrico de Cox. Os dados foram obtidos no site da ANS (agência reguladora do setor) e referem-se a 929 operadoras de todas as regiões do país, em 2011-2018. As seguintes variáveis foram analisadas: Beneficiário (número médio de beneficiário por operadora), Porte (Porte 1: até 20 mil beneficiários, Porte 2: entre 20 mil e 100 mil beneficiários, Porte 3: acima de 100 mil beneficiários), Tempo no Mercado (quantidade de trimestres que a operadora permaneceu no mercado), Receita/Despesa (Muito baixa, Baixa, Alta e Muito alta), Lucro (Operadoras que lucraram e Operadoras que não lucraram), Tipo de Gestão (Gestão sem fins lucrativos e Gestão empresarial) e por último tem-se a variável (dependente) Falência, que indica se a operadora solicitou o encerramento das suas atividades. Resultados: Observou-se uma taxa de mortalidade para operadoras de pequeno porte maior comparativamente às demais, com probabilidade de não sobrevivência no mercado duas vezes menor em relação às empresas de médio porte e três vezes menor se comparada às de grande porte. Conclusões: Empresas de pequeno porte encontram-se em grande desvantagem no panorama brasileiro de operadoras de planos de saúde, qualquer que seja seu tempo de vida no mercado.


Objective: In Brazil, studies on the survival time of health insurance providers are scarce. Thus, this article aims to investigate economic factors that explain the survival of these companies. Methods: The statistical technique survival analysis was used (Cox semi-parametric model). Data were obtained from the ANS (regulatory agency) website and refer to 929 operators from all regions of the country, 2011-2018. The following variables were analyzed: Beneficiaries (average number of beneficiaries per provider), Size (Size 1: Up to 20 thousand beneficiaries, Size 2: Between 20 thousand and 100 thousand beneficiaries, Size 3: Above 100 thousand beneficiaries) Time in market (Number of quarters that the provider remained in the market), Revenue/Expenses (Very Low, Low, High and Very High), Profit (Providers that profited and providers that did not profit), Type of Management (Nonprofit Management and For profit/Business Management) and lastly the (dependent) Bankruptcy variable, which indicates if the operator requested the ending of its activities. Results: A higher mortality rate was observed for small providers compared to the others, with a probability of non-survival in the market two times smaller in relation to medium-sized companies and three times lower than the large ones. Conclusions: Small businesses are at a great disadvantage in the Brazilian panorama of health insurance providers, regardless of their life time in the market.

Resumen El objetivo es comparar las figuras del mercenarismo y de las Compañías Militares y de Seguridad Privadas (CMSP), para de ahí contemplar la opción de una potencial tipificación jurídica para estas últimas. Para este fin, se recurre a una metodología en un doble sentido. Por un lado, se realiza una representación histórica del mercenarismo, en la que se contrastan las visiones sobre lo que esta figura simboliza y de cómo desde la literatura académica esas representaciones contradictorias también permean el debate sobre las CMSP. Por el otro lado, se propone un análisis de contenido de los instrumentos convencionales, jurisprudenciales y doctrinales del derecho internacional, para entender las dinámicas jurídicas y políticas que afectan en mayor medida el intento de regulación de las CMSP. La conclusión a la que se llegará apunta a que la importancia de adelantar un debate teórico-conceptual sobre el mercenarismo y las CMSP resulta estéril en la medida en que ninguna de las dos figuras cuenta con un sistema de regulación adecuado.


Abstract The objective of this study is to compare the concepts of mercenarism and the Private Military Security Companies (abbreviated in Spanish CMSP) to considering the possibility of a potential juridical classification for the PMSCs. A double methodology is implemented to reach this aim. On the one hand, a mercenarism historical representation is developed.The views upon what mercenarism symbolizes are compared in this representation, and how these contradictory representations have permeated the debate on the PMSCs from the academic literature. On the other hand, an analysis is conducted with regard to the conventional, legal and doctrinal instruments of the international law to understanding the juridical dynamics and policies, which affect in great measure the intention of regulating the PMSCs. The conclusión emphasizes in the unproductiveness of developing a conceptual-theoretical debate on mercenarism and the PMSCs, since these two concepts do not have a correct regulatory system.


Resumo O objetivo é comparar as figuras do mercenarismo e das Companhias Militares e de Segurança Privadas (CMSP), para daí considerar a opção de uma potencial tipificação jurídica para essas últimas. Para esse propósito, se recorre a uma metodologia em um sentido duplo. ABSTRACT

This paper selects 12 indicators of 47 Chinese materia medica (CMM) listed companies from 2013 to 2017, and builds an enterprise competitiveness evaluation system. Firstly, the global principal component analysis (GPCA) method is used to aggregate 12 indicators into four principal components, which named as scale capability, profitability, growth ability and technological innovation ability, and calculate the competitiveness score of the enterprise. Secondly, the Q-type cluster analysis method is used to divide the enterprise into four echelons based on the competitiveness score of the enterprise, and then use the combination of dynamic and static to analyze the development status of the four types of enterprises from static and dynamic perspectives. This study finally drew relevant conclusion and suggestions, providing reference for the companies making a targeted development strategy.

Resumen Se presentan los resultados de una investigación, cuyo objetivo es identificar patrones de conocimiento significativo en el contenido de la documentación presentada para la evaluación del Ambiente Organizacional de 13 empresas mexicanas, que integran el ranking de Súper Empresas ® elaborado por la Consultora Top Companies ® . Por medio del procesamiento cuantitativo de seis variables, seis indicadores y el Análisis de Redes Sociales, se visualizan mapas de relaciones entre las empresas y los atributos de las variables seleccionadas. Con el uso de la fuente y la metodología empleadas se revelan patrones de comportamiento informativo presentes en la documentación objeto de estudio que aportan nuevo conocimiento para la toma de decisiones sobre la evaluación y la elaboración de los rankings empresariales que generan las consultoras especializadas sobre la referida temática.


Abstract This paper reports the results of research aimed at identifying patterns of significant knowledge contained in the documentation of thirteen Mexican companies submitted for the purpose of the Organizational Environment evaluation of "Super Companies", a ranking issued exclusively by the consulting firm Top Companies®. Maps of company relationships and the attributes of the selected variables are developed on the basis of the quantitative processing of six variables and indicators, and an analysis of social networks. The sources and the methodology employed reveal patterns of informational behavior in the specialized documentation that can serve to support decision making with regard to the evaluation and preparation of the rankings issued by the specialized consultants.

Resumen Introducción: En la actualidad, hay muchas fluctuaciones del entorno económico mundial y la demanda y la oferta de activos o productos actúan como una fuerza que determina los precios según los cuales estos se compran y se venden, pero en ocasiones, el precio reflejado de una acción no representa el precio de generación de valor en el tiempo. Objetivo: Valorar el desempeño y la evolución de los múltiplos financieros en el tiempo de la empresa Ecopetrol de Colombia, proyectando el precio de la acción en el mercado secundario a cinco años. Materiales y métodos: Se consideraron cinco fases: análisis de la información de la empresa de Ecopetrol suministrada por Bloomberg; generación de una estructura de ponderación de los múltiplos financieros mediante un primer modelo lineal dinámico bayesiano; proyección de las variables utilizadas en la valoración para los próximos cinco años; cálculo de los múltiplos financieros de los resultados teóricos y, finalmente, realización de simulaciones de Montecarlo en función de distribuciones probabilísticas establecidas para cada variable de entrada. Resultados: Con los valores obtenidos a través de la simulación y el precio de la acción en el mercado secundario, se calculó un indicador relativo de comparación (IRC), con la intención de establecer proyecciones mediante un segundo modelo lineal dinámico bayesiano, logrando un procedimiento novedoso de estimación a mediano plazo del valor de la acción para la empresa Ecopetrol en cinco años futuros: del 2016 al 2020. Conclusiones: Mediante este procedimiento, fue posible comprobar y aplicar la valoración de empresas mediante múltiplos financieros, sin necesidad de utilizar empresas comparables ni competidoras en el mismo mercado.


Abstract Introduction: Currently, there are many fluctuations in the global economic environment and the demand and supply of assets or products act as a force that determines the prices according to which they are bought and sold, but sometimes, the price reflected in an action does not it reflects the price of generating value over time. Objective: Assess the performance and evolution of the financial multiples in the time of the company Ecopetrol de Colombia, projecting the price of the stock in the secondary market to five years. Material and methods: Five phases were considered: analysis of the information provided by Bloomberg of the Ecopetrol company, generation of a structure of weighting of the financial multiples through a first Bayesian Dynamic Linear Model, projection of the variables used in the valuation for the next five years, calculation of the financial multiples of the theoretical results and finally perform Montecarlo simulations based on probabilistic distributions established for each input variable Results: With the values obtained through the simulation and the price of the action in the secondary market, a Relative Comparison Indicator (CRI) was calculated, with the intention of establishing projections through a second Bayesian Dynamic Linear Model, achieving a novel procedure of medium-term estimate of the share value for the company Ecopetrol in five (5) future years: from 2016 to 2020. Conclusions: Through this procedure, it was possible to verify and apply the valuation of companies through financial multiples, without the need to use comparable companies or competitors in the same market.


Resumo Introdução: Atualmente, existem muitas flutuações do entorno econômico mundial, a demanda e a oferta de ativos ou produtos que agem como uma força que determina os preços segundo os quais estes, compram-se e vendem-se, mas às vezes, o preço refletido de uma ação não representa o preço da geração do valor no tempo. Objetivo: Avaliar o desempenho e a evolução dos multiplicadores financeiros no tempo da empresa Ecopetrol na Colômbia, projetando o preço da ação no mercado secundário para cinco (5) anos. Materiais e métodos: Consideram-se cinco fases: análise da informação da empresa de Ecopetrol fornecida pelo Bloomberg; geração de uma estrutura de ponderação dos multiplicadores financeiros mediante um primeiro modelo linear dinâmico bayesiano; projeção das variáveis utilizadas na valoração para os próximos cinco anos; cálculo dos multiplicadores financeiros dos resultados teóricos e, finalmente, a realização de simulações de Montecarlo em função de distribuições probabilísticas estabelecidas para cada variável de entrada. Resultados: Com os valores obtidos através da simulação e o preço da ação no mercado secundário, calculou-se um indicador de comparação relativo (ICR), com a intenção de estabelecer projeções mediante um segundo modelo linear dinâmico bayesiano, conseguindo um procedimento inovador da estimativa de médio prazo do valor da ação para empresa Ecopetrol nos futuros cinco (5) anos: de 2016 à 2020. Conclusões: Através deste procedimento, foi possível comprovar e aplicar a valoração de empresas mediante multiplicadores financeiros, sem necessidade de utilizar empresas concorrentes comparáveis no mesmo mercado.
