ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of Qingyan Mixture for laryngeal cough patients with lung dryness due to yin deficiency. Methods Sixty laryngeal cough patients with lung dryness due to yin deficiency were evenly randomized into treatment group and control group. The treatment group was given oral use of Qingyan Mixture, and the control group was given oral use of Ketotifen and Carbetapentane. The course of treatment for both groups lasted for 10 days. The overall therapeutic effect, and the effect on individual symptom or sign were evaluated after treatment. Results ( 1) In the treatment group, six patients were cured, 14 were markedly effective, 8 were improved, 2 were ineffective and the total effective rate was 93.3%. In the control group, one case was cured, 7 were markedly effective, 17 were improved, 5 were ineffective and the total effective rate was 83.3%. The overall clinical effect in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P0.05) . (3) After treatment, the total scores of main symptoms were decreased in both groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01) compared with those before treatment. Conclusion Qingyan Mixture shows certain effect on relieving symptoms and signs of laryngeal cough patients with lung dryness due to yin deficiency.

ABSTRACT

The preliminary pharmacodynamic studies of the prepar ation of artificial Fel Serpentis and Bulbus Fritiliariae Cirrhosae and Shedan Chuanbei San (composed of natural Fel Serpentis and Bulbus Fri tiliariae Cirrhosae) were reported. The results showed that both of the above pre parations could prolong the cough latency and decrease cough frequeucies induced by ammonia within 3 min, promote the excretion of respiratory tract, increase the excretion of phenol red and inhibit auricular edema induced by xylol in mice. M eanwhile, the above two preparations could also inhibit Ach-induced tracheospasm in vitro. Therefore, the replacement of natural Fel Serpentis with the artificial in the preparation of Shedan Chuanbei San is reasonable.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the Antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic actions of Zhisou Lixiao capsule(ZLC). Methods: The incubation period and the frequency of cough in mice induced by ammonia water, the secretion of PSP from mouse bronchus and the incubation period of asthma in guinea-pigs induced by histamine were observed. Results: ZLC 0.8~3.2g?kg-1?d-1 ig could obviously prolong the incubative period of cough and decrease the frequency, ZLC 0.8~3.2g?kg-1?d-1 ig could increase the secretion of PSP in mice, 0.5~2.0 g?kg-1?d-1 increase the bronchial secretion in rats, and 1.0~2.0 g?kg-1?d-1 could prolong the incubation period of asthma in guinea-pigs. Conclusion: ZLC exerts a good Antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic effect.

ABSTRACT

Results of experiments such as ammonia steaming test in mice and citric acid test in guinea pigs, phenol red secretion test in mice and capillary expectorant test in rats, in-vivo and in-vitro antiasthmatic tests in guinea pigs proved that Tankeqing capsule had good antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic effects and a significant time-effect relationship was showed. The antitussive effect and expectorant effect arrived to the peak in 1-6h after oral administration, and the antiashmatic effect in about 1h.
