ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of the eye drops containing deproteinized calf blood extract on the ocular surface and tear film at the early stage of orthokeratology treatment in myopic adolescents. Methods Together 59 myopia (118eyes) who received vision correction by orthokeratology lens between June 2016 and October 2016 were included in this study, and they were randomly assigned into two groups:the treatment group,29 patients (58 eyes) receiving the eye drops containing deproteinized calf blood extract to presumably promote the repair of corneal epithelium, and the control group,30 patients (60 eyes) without receiving such eye drops. For each subject, the surface regularity index (SRI) and objective scattering index (OSI)were recorded;lipid layer thickness (LLT) and tear film break-up time (BUT) were measured, and finally fluorescein stain of corneal epithelium and the ocular surface disease index (OSDI) questionnaire were performed before treatment and 1 week and 1 month after lens wearing. Results The treatment group showed significantly lower rate of corneal staining than the control group at 1 week (10.3% vs.33.3%,all P <0.05) and 1 month after treatment (8.6% vs.26.7%,all P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in LLT at 1 week and 1 month after treatment and before treatment (all P > 0.05).Both corneal curvature and BUT were decreased, while SRI,OSI,and OSDI score were increased significantly after 1-week lens wearing (all P < 0.05),but there was no significant difference at 1 week and 1 month after lens wearing (all P > 0.05).Moreover,there was no significant difference in corneal curvature,SRI,BUT,LLT,OSI,and OSDI score at different time points between the treatment group and the control group (all P > 0.05).Conclusion Eye drops containing deproteinized calf blood extract can protect and repair the corneal epithelium at the early stage of orthokeratology treatment.

ABSTRACT

·AIM: To explore clinical effect of pranoprofen combined with deproteinized calf blood extract eye drops for moderate to severe dry eye. ·METHODS: A total of 84 patients (132 eyes) who received treatment at the Zhengzhou Second Hospital were selected from January 2016 to January 2017. According to random number table method they were divided into control group 42 cases (68 eyes) and observation group 42 cases (64 eyes), the control group using polyvinyl alcohol eye drops with pranoprofen, observation group with pranoprofen with deproteinized extract of calf blood eye drops. Subjective and objective scores before and after treatment were recorded. · RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference on the four objective indicators of pretreatment FL,BUT,SⅠt,and vision between the two groups (P>0.05). Dry eye symptom scores of the two groups decreased after treatment, both with significantly different (P<0.05);after treatment, the symptom scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P< 0. 05), indicating that the subjective symptoms of the observation group were better than that of the control group after treatment. After treatment of the control group and the observation group, the FL index was significantly lower than before treatment, BUT, S Ⅰ t and vision were significantly higher than before treatment, and the differences within either group were statistically significant(P<0.05);those indexes of observation group were different compared with control group (P < 0. 05), indicating that the objective symptoms of the observation group were better than that of the control group after treatment. None of the patients showed serious adverse reactions. ·CONCLUSION: The clinical effect of praprofen on the treatment of moderate to severe dry eye with the deproteinized calf blood extract is better.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To systemically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of domestic deproteinized calf blood extract eye gel for corneal epithelial repair after laser refractive surgery.METHODS:We performed a comprehensive search via Pubmed,Embase,Cochrane Library,VIP Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database,CNKI and Wan Fang Chinese periodical Database for the randomized controlled trials(RCTs) at home and abroad about effects of the domestic deproteinized calf blood extract eye gel for corneal epithelial repair after laser corneal refractive surgery with retrieval time from January 2007 to December 2016.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,2 medical researchers independently screened documents, extracted data and evaluated the quality.Review Manager 5.3 software was used for Meta analysis.RESULTS:Seven RCTs involving 1042 eyes, including 523 eyes in the treatment group and 519 eyes in the control group, were selected for this Meta-analysis.The results showed that the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was better than that in the control group (OR=1.81,95%CI:1.39 ~2.35;P<0.001).And the corneal injury symptom score in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (WMD=-0.33,95%CI:-0.45 to-0.21;P<0.001).And the corneal healing time in the treatment group was shorter than that in the control group (WMD=-1.26,95%CI:-1.56 to-0.97;P<0.001).CONCLUSION:The domestic deproteinized calf blood extract eye gel can relieve the patients' symptoms after laser refractive surgery, improve the corneal epithelial recovery and the efficiency of treatment.Due to the limited quality and quantity of the studies these conclusions should be further validated by more welldesigned randomized double blind controlled trials.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To compare the effect of recombinant human epidermal growth factor eye drops and deproteinized calf blood extract eye drops on corneal edema after phacoemulsification.METHODS:Totally 72 cases (72 eyes) of patients undergoing phacoemulsification were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group by random number table method. After surgery, the observation group were treated with deproteinized calf blood extract eye drops while the control group were treated with recombinant human epidermal growth factor eye drops. The degree of corneal edema, subjective symptom score, corneal endothelium count, changes of corneal thickness and postoperative visual acuity recovery were compared between the two groups at different time points after surgery.RESULTS:Corneal edema in the two groups was significantly milder at 1wk after surgery than that on the 1st day after surgery (P0.05).Compared with 1d after surgery, the subjective symptom score and corneal thickness of the two groups significantly decreased on the 7th day after surgery (P<0.05).At 7d after surgery, the above indexes were significantly better in the observation group than the control group(P<0.05).At 1mo after surgery, the corneal endothelium count was significantly larger in the observation group than the control group (P<0.001).CONCLUSION:Both of recombinant human epidermal growth factor eye drops and deproteinized calf blood extract eye drops can significantly relieve corneal edema and improve visual acuity of patients after phacoemulsification. However, the latter has obvious advantages over the former in the repair of corneal endothelial cell injury after surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and economic effect of Alprostadil in the pharmacotherapeutic scheme for cerebral infarction. Methods:A total of 156 successfully treated cases of cerebral infarction were selected from those admitted from March 2003 to March 2004 and divided into two pharmacotherapeutic groups, with Alprostadil given to Group Ⅰ.The data were evaluated and compared by pharmacoeconomic cost-effect analysis. Results:The costs were $11 271.47 and $8 147.06,and the effectiveness rates were 84.21% and 70.00% respectively in the two groups, with the cost-effect ratios of 133.86 and $114.34 / unit effectiveness. It cost $219.87 for Group Ⅰ to increase a unit of effectiveness over Group Ⅱ.Conclusion:Group Ⅰ had a higher effectiveness rate, while Group Ⅱ a lower cost-effect ratio.
