ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effect of non-nutritional sucking intervention on low birth weight infants.Methods One hundred and forty cases of low birth weight infants were randomly divided into experimental group(n=73) and conventional group (n=67).Both groups of infants were treated with enteral nutrition.The experimental group was treated with non-nutritive sucking interventions.Results The abnormality rate of QRS wave(2.74%) and heart rate (4.11%) in experimental group were significantly lower than those in the conventional group (11.94 %,17.91 %),the differences were statistically significant (P< 0.05).In the experimental group,the meconium discharge time,recovery time,nasogastric tube indwelling time and the time of intestinal nutrition reached 481.4 kJ-1 · kg-1 · d-1 were significantly lower than that of the conventional group(P<0.05).The incidence of bloating(2.74 %),vomiting (2.74 %) and gastric retention (5.48 %) in experimental group were significantly lower than than of the conventional group (13.43%,11.94%,25.37%),P<0.05.There was no significant difference in the incidence of apnea and diarrhea between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion Non-nutritional sucking intervention can effectively reduce the incidence of ECG abnormalities and feeding complications in low birth weight infants.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the clinical curative effect of Weichang An Pills in the treatment of pediatric simple digestive function disorder. Methods: Children (150 cases) with simple digestive function disorder in the Department of Pediatrics in Maternal and Child Care Center of Tangshan City from June 2013 to December 2013 were selected and were randomly divided into treatment (100 cases) and control (50 cases) groups. In the control group, children were po given medilac-vita mixed with warm water under 40°C or milk by the following way: Children under the age of 2 years old, 1 bag once, 1-2 times daily; over 2 years old children, 1-2 bags once, 1-2 times daily, 1-2 weeks for a course. In the treatment group, Weichang An Pills were given, the specific usage was as follows: Within 1 year old children, 1 pill once, 2 times daily; 1-3 years old children, 1 pill once, 3 times daily; 4-7 years old children, 2 pills once, 3 times daily; 8-15 years old children, 3 pills once, 3 times daily, 1-4 weeks for a course. Results: In the treatment group, the cure rate and total effective rate were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion: The effect of Weichang An Pills on the simple digestive function disorder of children in clinic is better, thus they are worth of a wide clinical application.

ABSTRACT

The scientific advances related to healthy properties of the probiotics have increased in a significant form. It is evident the positive effects on physiological functions. Considering the relevance in these advances, this review presents a summary of the scientific evidence supporting the principal biological effects of the probiotics in digestive function, systemic immune reply and lipid profile, pathologies relevant in the functional food development.


Los avances científicos en relación a las propiedades saludables de los probióticos han aumentado significativamente, mostrando grandes avances en su efecto sobre diferentes funciones fisiológicas. Los hallazgos demuestran que las acciones a nivel fisiológico o clínico son cepa específicos, aspecto que toma cada día mayor relevancia en el desarrollo de alimentos funcionales asociados a probióticos. Teniendo en cuenta la importancia de estos avances, este artículo presenta de forma resumida evidencia que sustenta los principales efectos clínicos atribuidos a los probióticos en enfermedades relacionadas con el sistema digestivo, función inmune y metabolismo lipídico, patologías en las cuales el desarrollo de alimentos funcionales se ha venido enfocando.

ABSTRACT

Apart from development of medical technology, how we prevent disease has been an important issue. <BR>Moreover, it has become clear that the diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage, which lead to the cause of death for a great portion of Japanese, are often caused by lifestyle factors and the outbreak of such diseases could possibly be prevented by changing lifestyle. <BR>At this seminar, the lecturers discuss developments in lifestyle especially paying attention to food. <BR>First a lecture was given from a viewpoint of caloric restriction and balance in relevance to healthy eating habits, next the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion on nutrition absorption, and finally oriental holistic foods concepts and the relationship between diet and disease. <BR>We held a discussion based on this lecture. and we reviewed the relation between diet and disease, the affect of acupuncture and moxibustion on nutrition absorption, and the view of the holistic meal as part of oriental medicine. Finally a useful possibility for combining diet with acupuncture and moxibustion therapy was suggested.
